Economy / Speculation / Re: When will Bitcoin take off again?

I am hoping bitcoin will take off just before christmas time similar to last year when china got involved and it shot up like crazy. Its very unlikely that it will shoot up that much but hopefully it will go up to 500-600

like others said it is most likely big companies like bitfury, bitmain, etc. Testing products before shipping etc. They control thr hashrate since most miners do not have that type of hashrate to see thr fluctuation. if some home miners turn their miners off it would not even scratch the difficulty to make a diff

doesnt hash fast have something as well? or by bitmain.
Those are ASIC manufacturers which you can buy miners from. Cloud mining companies are a different thing that takes your money, (claim to) hosts a miner for you, and sends you the bitcoin mined after fees. THere are cloud mining companies which also are ASIC manufacturers. Zeushash and bitmain are 2 prime examples.

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: are s1's even worth running?

on: October 06, 2014, 11:29:15 PM

If hashnest got rid of their S1s cloud hashing you have to assume for 90% of people it is not profitable or worth running. Uless you are paying .06 or so kwh it is not worth it. It does not pay to buy one since the amount of profit at .06 is negligible after fees. If you have one on hand it might pay if you only pay that for electric. At my rate of .11 you receive a negative return.

I never worried too much about bitcoin but now it is starting to get dangerously low to where I am getting worried. If it resets back to 100 or so we might be in trouble. the operations around bitcoin are way past that and a lot of people will lose a lot of money. We need a spike from some buying pressure. All the news recently like paypal and overstock etc give good publicity but also create sell pressure.

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Still buying Hardware?

No current miner is profitable at the rate btc price is going. The money you can buy btc with will be at least double what you would be able to mine with that same dollar value. If you buy hardware for a profit you need to rethink your strategy quickly

Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Do miners raise my internet ping? (online gamer thing)

I noticed if you run the miners on wifi it does affect your ping. I pay for upgraded internet and I get close to 100mbps dl and 50mbps up. When I run my one miner on wifi I notice I have to reboot my router to clear the cache every week or two since it starts to slow down. WHen I used to run it on an ethernet it was much less of a problem.
Wired is ofcourse best. The wifi really is dependent of your router. There are many different qualities of routers out there. If one miner of wifi clogs up your router i would look into router firmware upgrade unless its very old. My router is a belkin but I of course have tomatousb with all the bells and whistles on it. Its an n router and pretty good but of course not a 100+ router. Keep in mind when I say slow down its for when I play internet intensive games or streaming hd videos. Browsing the web or doing basic tasks is not affected. I was able to remedy most of this though by setting the difficulty on the pool high.

"UMISOO will stop mining if the earning are equal to the electricity + maintenance fee. The miner will then be kept for 10 days. UMISOO will process the miner if the earning is still less-than or equal to the electricity + maintenance fee. The UMISOO market will close."
Could someone explain to me what happens if this occurs, and mining becomes unprofitable?
Also, UMISOO is currently built on AntMiner S2 miners. Is there a chance that it will be upgraded to S3 or S4 miners in the future, once S2 becomes unprofitable?
I doubt they will be upgraded to S3s since the watts per hour is not that much of a difference compared to say the S1 and S2. The unprofitability will be one maybe 2 difficulties between the S2 and S3 so there is no point in migrating for such a short time since it probably is a lot of work.

a safer investment is like most say to just buy bitcoin. Mining at home is only profitable if you can manage to mine altcoins and pick a good one. Bitcoin home mining is pointless. Even if bitcoin price does go up cloud mining with companies will still be more profitable. Hopefully there becomes a lot of good competition this way mining will not become lopsided

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Is mining still profitable?
|
on: October 02, 2014, 02:32:28 PM

Like many other people posted mining is not profitable the way bitcoin price is and the way difficulty is. your best bet is to buy bitcoin if you have that desire. Otherwise i would use mining for investment purposes. What i mean is use a cloud mining site that offers you to sell the hashpower back. Do not get involved in any contracts where they do not offer a place to sell that hashpower back since those will not ROI and you would be better off just buying btc at the price it is now. If you cloud mine then resell it back you can make a decent profit if you time it right. If not you will still get dividends no matter how small they are.

HASHNEST IS THE BEST!BUT WE NEED $0.002498/GHS/Day Maintenance fee instead of $0.0032498/GHS/Day in China, the electricity fee is about 0.5-0.6 RMB/kwh. making 0.02RMB/GHS ($0.0032498/GHS) per day a reasonable price. I do not think recently the electricity fee can be reduced. if that is the case we need bitcoin to jump up 200 bucks to make it more profitable again

i was wondering if anyone wanted to sell 15MH - 10 MH of hashlet primes by gawminer
How much are you paying for mh/s ? 25-30$ mh/s I do not think you will get any people who will sell you it for this price. They can sell it directly back to gaw for $40 and it should be instantly since GAW has chosen to buy them back themselves to decrease the amount in circulation

Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: I think the Bitcoin difficulty will go down around October 10, 2014
|
on: October 01, 2014, 12:00:31 AM

I do not think the difficulty will go down. Based on trends and new miners coming out a lot of the manufacturer's have new machines go on and offline to play with the difficulty. It would not be hard for bitmain to do this. It explains why one day the difficulty is going up 13% then 20% then back to 15%. IT takes some serious hashpower to move the difficulty up a few percent which only manufacturer's or companies have.
