This picture still sums up the general TA of bitcoin

That's also about the frequency FUD is spread on this forum as well.

...
This is where I am working to change this. I'm not giving bitcoins to the poor. I'm teaching them how to secure Bitcoins.

And I'm teaching them how to secure their mansions & yachts.

Must be a busy time for you teaching "the poor" how to secure their mansions and yachts?
Well, technically I'm using testnet coins. But I like the idea of mansions and yachts. I will get miniature models as prizes for understanding.

Quote from: a troll
You can't trust the poor with money--it's a scientifical fact.

If bitcoin was really about solving poor people problems, then it should have been distributed for free with all of them. But we all know that kind of approach would have never worked out.

Instead it will be sold to them at high prices, so all people who invested before (mostly from rich countries) can make lot of profit.

And don't get me wrong, early adopters deserve all that profit. But don't come to sell that lie about poor people, because poors will be the last ones to benefit.
This is where I am working to change this. I'm not giving bitcoins to the poor. I'm teaching them how to secure Bitcoins.

One solution is to aquire bootstrap.dat via the Torrent network. That will help,
-snip-

Use electrum or the Blockchain torrent

What with the necroposting? Borred?
Some of us have stopped reading this forum but once or twice a month due to excessive trolling.

almost 1 year old article ?
So Bitcoin should have been zero in June? That would have made Prof. Bitcorn right.

Did he say $10, or was it below $10? I thought it was at $10 rather than below.
mumble... mumble... Zeno's Paradox... mumble... ahem, right, zero is asymptotic.
1426  Economy / Speculation / Re: Can Bitcoin Rebound? on: December 21, 2014, 01:21:45 PM
They always say that history repeats itself, I guess we will really find out if that's true in the case of Bitcoin.
History repeats itself because people are deaf to its warnings. Deep, huh?

Provably Honest Online Elections are Possible

"Moving elections online is a very controversial subject because it is something everyone would like, but it is not trivial to implement in a provably honest manner. There are countless articles around the internet that throughly document how even electronic voting or vote counting is unverifiable and cannot be trusted. The worries about electronic voting are so strong that many people suggest that only a manually counted paper ballot system can be trusted. While many may be content to accept paper ballots as the “least bad option”, I would like to present new approach that is provably honest.

Paper Ballots are not Provably Honest

Paper ballot systems are slow, expensive, and error prone even when no fraud is at play. People have been rigging paper ballot systems since they were invented. At a small scale paper ballot elections can appear to be honest to most people’s satisfaction only because everyone thinks they can observe the entire process. Once the system attempts to scale beyond a couple hundred people things start to break down. You end up having to rely on others to observe on your behalf. You end up with recounts and fake ballots. In effect, the system can no longer be accepted as honest beyond a reasonable doubt."

yes provably elections have been talked about since a long time, however,
the government is not bitcoin friendly, so these would only be used for other kinds of elections.
This. A simple search on the forum will find these discussions.

330 was a Rule of Thirds test. Investors are supporting the bottom of the Greater Rule of Thirds. Will the investors beat the traders in this Lessor Rule of Thirds cycle? Not likely with the current exchanges. Serious money needs serious exchanges.

Meanwhile Satoshi has become an ascended master.

Till now my bitcoin adventure has been short and painful Tongue

The bitcoin mining network costs over 1 million dollars per day.  That money can only come from one place: the pockets of people who buy bitcoins now and hold them, or sell them at a loss.

So, be proud of having done your part in this noble enterprise.  Undecided
Um it only costs money to those that freely choose to pay, not forced at gunpoint.

i wonder where 1 million dollars counted from Huh

what if miner only sell 10% of there mined coin every month Huh
Bitcoin would survive just fine with one dollar a day's worth of mining. Go ahead, turn off your miners. If you can convince everyone else then I'll pay the buck and mine like hell.
1432  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: airgap wallet not totally safe? on: December 21, 2014, 08:48:11 AM

Air Gap can be safe 100% with caution of RF Emanation, i'm talking about GSM and WI-FI.

See, TEMPEST Transient Electromagnetic Pulse Emanation Standard

I would think isolated signature systems for multisig and 2fa would be ample security. Polarized lenses and laser scanners with mirrors might be useful for independently confirming signatures. There's lots of cheap real world tech to play with.

Almost everything else except oil performed better than bitcoin this year  Smiley
That is a fact. Many people spent money foolishly buying and consuming uranium or radium in Patent tonics before realizing their true value. There was a lull where there was little demand for them. Most lay people are in a state of confusion over the relationship between valueless bitcoin and the invaluable blockchain. Educated investors recognize the opportunity.
1434  Economy / Speculation / Re: Gold collapsing. Bitcoin UP. on: December 21, 2014, 08:25:54 AM
+420 on the Dow.  wow, somebody's happy about something!

i'm staying clear of that thing.

Most people made a bundle from the Fortune 50 this year, including myself. Bitcoin was my worse performer, however I believe now is the absolutely best time to invest in crypto.  Bitcoin tends to dwell in the doldrums for a while, shaking people's beliefs and weeding out the weak, then skyrocket.

yes, they are called cycles.  and the Dow and Bitcoin stand at opposite ends of their cycles.
Lol money is made last 1% of the cycle. It is lost 99% rest mostly... as i said so many times euphoria hadnt happened with dow and it is a long way up before the "cycle" is done.. better place to park money imo today
Your denial is a symptom of your euphoria.

1436  Economy / Speculation / Re: The BULL RUN has BEGUN? on: December 21, 2014, 08:17:48 AM
The first Battle of Bull Run was the beginning of a long and bloody civil war. This bloodshed is only virtual, but the war against financialization is just as important.
ooooh I'm tingling with delight that someone has alluded to bitcoins fatal flaw.
Such issues are far more complex than generally understood. In fact you now have me intrigued. Besides the moral ambiguities, what fatal flaw has you concerned?
1437  Economy / Speculation / Re: If it goes to $275, are you going to keep faith or just give up save the little. on: December 21, 2014, 08:12:04 AM
I can't se the negative drivel you replied. I would wager it did not address any points in my post though!
And respectfully I will not quote it. Besides, I also have them on ignore though I sometimes peek.

The Greater Rule of Thirds will not give in to a Lesser Rule of Thirds below 270. It would kill the arbitrage and altcoin markets. Superstition, emotion, and margin trading will drive price up to 360 because the short sellers have run out of space.
1440  Economy / Speculation / Re: Its always the darkest just before dawn on: December 21, 2014, 03:18:16 AM
...Bitcoin is a gamble today, as it's fate is far from certain. However "tomorrow" (once it's fate has been established if it will be successful) then it will likely be a good store of value as it's price will have stabilized

Two unreasonable assumptions:
1. Bitcoin will succeed (many clonecoins have died)
2. Price will stabilize
My statement that the price will stabilize is based on the "assumption" that bitcoin will succeed (and is disclosed that this assumption is not necessarily going to be true)
Indeed a reasonable assumption backed by the fact that attempts to undermine Bitcoin with clonecoins have thusly failed.
