I watched one of their sockpuppet operations on the poloniex trollbox yesterday.. I swear 6 bots all started pumping digibyte at the same time and got banned, then a minute 6 more.
443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 20, 2017, 05:38:04 PM
All the people coming out of the woodwork wanting their long lost stakes 2 years later.. you would have had more luck trying 18 months ago. Good luck. On another note, we appear to be basing for the move up to 25000 sats.  Wouldn't want to be short here.  Keep posting your bearish little pictures though.. it's a great sign that the run isn't over. As someone that has participated in countless stock market bubbles dating back to the tech bubble in 1999, at the peak of a bubble there are no bears calling for the bubble to burst... literally EVERYONE becomes a hyper bull.

Besides, this coin and it's tech should be a bitcoin replacement. It's superior to every other coin in this regard, including ethereum, which is more of an application platform. It's only real competition is Ripple. I'm not selling because it's going to a $5B market cap, unless the entire crypto bubble pops in the next few days, which isn't happening as of now, looking at the charts and the trading volume.

I'm surprised it took someone this long to use this name. Rupee is also the currency used in the zelda games. :p
445  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are you a bagholder? Which altcoins do you hold? on: May 19, 2017, 06:13:16 PM
All these tokens that are popping up strike me as having no inherit value. The idea I'm going to buy a piece of rainforest or something using a token and actually have the company keep up their end of the bargain and not take the money and run strikes me as being a bit naive. If investing in an ICO, it better be a real blockchain...   Yeah I'll still take the airdrops when they're offered though, I'm a hypocrite like that. Smiley   I'm skeptical of the whole ethereum based tokens app platform... I'd rather invest in a coin more currency focused, which is why I'm simply holding XEM.
446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Been out of cryptocurrency game for 2 years.. where to start? on: May 19, 2017, 06:10:03 PM
Jump to -> Poloniex -> Deposit some bitcoins-> Look at the chart->Take any coin out of the first 10 most traded ->Check history -> Pray to Almighty ->Blindly invest in the coin -> Close poloniex for a week -> Open and sell the coin you invested in ->Instant Rich.

Someone's got it figured out.
447  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Been out of cryptocurrency game for 2 years.. where to start? on: May 19, 2017, 06:06:18 PM
For exchanges:

GDAX for bank ACH deposits and withdraws, and Bittrex and Poloniex for trading altcoins.   I don't know much about mining. Honestly this is the type of stuff you should do google and forum searches to find out, but meh I'm not a mod.
448  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Launched: PiCoin [POS+POW] [SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN=AIRDROP] on: May 19, 2017, 06:01:34 PM
After signup, how do you participate in the drops?    I can't find where to create a wallet for picoin.  Can somebody help walk me through this?

you can download the windows wallet on their website

https://picoin.club/

From there generate an address and post it in the thread or PM it to the OP.
449  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 5 Altcoins to Trade/Invest on: May 19, 2017, 04:28:26 PM
1. ETH - best mix of stability, legitimate big $ backers, and big news growth potential
2. PIVX - still relatively tiny with HUGE room to explode, fundamentally superior version of DASH, great dev team, awesome PoS setup, big 2017 plans (including zero coin)
3. NEM - really unique project with unique code and potential end-user value add

1. Up 1000%
2. Up 1150% (was as high as +2100%)
3. Up 1800%

 Cool

Nice work! XEM is still underappreciated for what it is, which is why I've held my stake as long as I have and still have 2/3 of it.  I see it as the ideal currency to replace bitcoin, especially when Catapult is implemented and fees are reduced.. they're working on the fee thing now.
450  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: $0.85 transaction fee is absolutely ridiculous! on: May 19, 2017, 03:33:12 PM
needless to say the days of making paper wallets of .1 BTC and handing them out to people are gone with these fees. I'm using what I believe will be bitcoin's replacement, XEM, for cold storage wallets, though I generate the addresses with the Nano client. I only use BTC for transfer between exchanges because exchanges only trade altcoin pairs with BTC at this point.  It's crusty, outdated, and lagging behind because of internal politics. Time to move on.   You can call the fees "fair" and maybe they are, but that's just the big mining interests talking.. some of us see the future and it's a future where BTC is being dethroned for not changing fast enough to meet up with changing needs of the market. Adapt or die.   Of course the biggest interests are always the slowest to adapt and change, so I don't expect exchanges to switch from BTC to something else for altcoin pairing until that something else has been trading above BTC in market cap for months.
451  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / GDAX 2 factor authentication lag on: May 19, 2017, 02:23:40 PM
Anyone else had it where their 2 factor authentication doesn't work on coinbase/GDAX unless you wait until the very end of the countdown, or even after the countdown has laped and a new number has appeared? This has been my experience. Just a heads up if you are having issues.. wait until the very end of the countdown, or even after a new number shows up, while using the previous number, and it will go through.  I've had to do this for ACH deposits/withdraws.
452  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: POLONIEX TURN INTO SCAM??? on: May 19, 2017, 02:15:42 PM
meh... my ARK withdraw took 5 days to show up in my wallet when I withdraw from bittrex. They don't seem to handle certain altcoins as well sometimes. I've never had a problem with bitcoin or XEM, but other altcoins are sometimes hit or miss, on bittrex or poloniex.   I don't know if it's the coin, the exchange, or both.  I'm assuming the exchange.   Nature of the beast. I protect myself by only keeping money on an exchange in amounts I'm willing to lose, and only buying dollar amounts of alts in amounts I'm willing to lose, which for me is about $5,000 at a time of any given altcoin.  For the average person who hasn't had a 100 bagger altcoin give them a nice payout, I'd suggest using a dollar amount that is comfortable for you.

Also, keep 2 factor authentication on at all times or don't even bother trading, and educate yourself before sending anything. Don't be one of them people who sends the amount to the fee address, among other rookie mistakes made.  Know what you're doing and good luck!

454  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Exchanges & Trading Platforms on: May 19, 2017, 01:50:59 PM
Poloniex and Bittrex.  I've heard kraken charges $50K to list a coin, which only hurts them in the long run.. coins like XEM not being listed is just lost revenue for them. I have no incentive to pool together $50K to get it listed, as nobody really 'needs' Kraken. It's their loss. Similarly, BTC-E is stuck in the stone ages, not updating their trading list to more reflect current demand. Who buys namecoin anyways? They were that way 3 years ago though.

GDAX is good for depositing USD into the system and getting your experience started. It's what I use.  It's coinbase without the 1.5% fees.   Keep in mind bitcoin has fairly high fees right now so expect to pay a buck or two when transferring bitcoin from exchange to exchange.

Bittrex is smaller and responds faster to customer requests, but poloniex will respond eventually. They just upped my withdraw limit to $25,000 after some time waiting, but I have been doing some trading with them.   I have had equal success with both, but bittrex servers are able to stay up more consistently, though poloniex has more liquidity.

One quick tip.. when using GDAX/coinbase, their 2 factor authentication sometimes lags... you should submit your code right at the end of the countdown.. sometimes you even have to submit it 5 seconds after the countdown ends and a new number shows up.
455  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 19, 2017, 01:08:07 PM

@NEM Team

I'm still trying to wrap my head around the fact that you haven't announced ANY official strategy of unloading a significant part of the undistributed funds at these levels (e.g. outside of the exchanges at Market rates).  Please don't say you always knew it would happen within a 2-month period.  Don't you see how thin the top of the order book is already?  Just a handful of initial stakeholders cashing out would cut the Mkt. Cap in half.  What are you waiting for?   Shocked

I don't care how many folks are running Buy-bots in private.  Considering that you've said it's not the official team participating in market making activities (i.e. ability to support both sides pretty much risk free), the private efforts will have ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE supporting the order book.

I'll say it again, something is not adding up (or simply can't make sense of it myself)...   but feel free to explain the official strategy.   Undecided

Edit:  Just to be clear, the thin order books is not the main point here.  All high Mkt. Cap projects have thin order books at the top.  I'm discussing strategy in respect to undistributed funds.  If there were no undistributed funds (or they were a much smaller % of Total Supply), there would be no post!   Wink

The NEM development team themselves is not pumping this coin. Some of their stakeholders like myself extol the virtues of this coin, but that doesn't necessarily mean it will skyrocket up and replace ethereum in value or be the bitcoin killer, even though I think it might.  The way to address the undistributed funds would be to lower the requirement to be a supernode to something like 100,000 to 250,000 coins.  This could indeed flood the market with coins.. that's life.   If anything XEM has better distribution than any of the other top 5 coins... there is one bitcoin wallet that alone has 80,000 lost bitcoins. That's the same as a couple hundred stakes of XEM. XEM was distributed in the most fair way of any of these altcoins except perhaps Ethereum.  There's likely a lot of lost coins, but that's no different than any other crypto.  As for distribution held by the developers, if any, XEM has gone up fast and the fact they are not simply dumping their stakes and on the forum pumping the coin is a testament to where their priorities lie. Maybe they'll do some sort of dividend in the future. Who knows. A public disclosure of all their held funds in their control would be a positive though. I'd be interested to see that.

As for LTC, segwit was a patch and XEM will be capable of far more transactions and much more scalable, especially after the release of Catapult. Apples and oranges here. LTC is more like BTC than XEM, and that's not necessarily a complement.
456  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Imagine that anybody can go to any bank to exchange XRP in the near future on: May 19, 2017, 06:50:47 AM
I wouldn't want to piss around the tax implications until they fixed it so you didn't have to deal with it at all.   Of course the Ripple that was available would trade stable, like the US dollar, not going through manic boom and bust cycles.   It would be nice to have a one world digital currency based on the blockchain with very low fees.  Ripple  and XEM would be the candidates here. Ethereum was not designed with transaction speeds in mind.

Hey guys,

I had an original stake but never even looked for it before.

Is there an original list of distribution addresses - links from google drive are down?

How did distribution take place - been too long to remember and dont have time to read history?

Thanks

LOL
you have not chance. Sorry.
but you can buy same XEM, and hold it. Very good tecnology, NEM train is excellent and in summer Catapult.
buy and hold it. Good luck!

Love how you shills say 'haha' and then 'go buy' - what a joke

I'm shorting XEM so hard now - will see who wins in the end. Good luck to you sir with that bag you will soon hold

I wouldn't try shorting yet.. too soon... gonna get caught with pants down as this hits 25000 sats.

If you don't have the private key of the address your coins were sent too, there's no way to claim a stake anymore and no way to use the stake should you have it in all likelihood.

How did you loose the stake?

I thought I had the private key saved but did not, so when I installed windows 10 upgrading from windows 8 the wallet file was lost.  Had microsoft not released it, I might have both stakes yet. :p

What a hypocrite. I respect this guy sells firearms and accepts bitcoin, but will not buy from his establishment unless he deletes this thread and never mentions his list ever again.  Even then I won't buy any firearms because I have enough of them, but my respect will be restored.
