421  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are You looking for x10 x100 return in a months? on: May 24, 2017, 06:51:43 PM
There's already a coin that takes care of scalability, it's called NEM/XEM.  In any case this post should be in the speculation forum.
422  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 24, 2017, 06:29:16 PM
Sometimes I wonder if people research these coins, I mean really research them... I mean, LTC and ETC don't hold a candle to XEM's technology.  What is Ethereum.. a service/application platform. I respect that and respect their development team, but NEM's code/platform has a much more robust platform for handling the type of volume that larger institutions require.  Sure these other alts can handle trading at the volumes these exchanges have, but for banking level scalability, XEM is where it's at. It could easily take over as the number one coin that all the exchanges use to trade against and handle the volume with ease, with a lot less cost and electricity use of bitcoin.

Mostly ETH is home to worthless tokens that are being pumped... as if the people backing these tokens can be promised to keep their word. Tokens are a step removed from the actual blockchain technology itself.

The only other interesting tech I've come across so far is the proof of signature tech that is being developed by Xtrabytes, which is why I've bought some of that. Also have some Ark.  Xtrabytes is in the process of transitioning to their new blockchain from the old one (it started out at a scam coin with a different name and was taken over, renamed) .. I don't necessarily know if this tech is really a huge improvement in security over what XEM offers, but it's interesting nonetheless.  Static nodes verify all transactions, and any node trying to put out faulty transactions is blocked. Combined with what I think is a good name, I'm willing to invest a bit.

Whatever you do people don't sell. There is some serious suppression of price desperately trying to hold the price down to accumulate. Very soon the price will catapult back. Don't lose your coins to them.

It takes sellers to hold the price down.  Certain people are sniping sell orders in large blocks every once in a while.. that's how my orders for 333 and 320 sats got filled.   People claim manipulation but nobody is putting a gun to people's heads forcing them to sell at these levels.  Once these people stop selling, there will be room to move the bid higher.  Thanks for the somewhat cheap xtrabytes, by the way.

NEM/XEM is already a pretty secure blockchain, but from what I've seen this is probably more secure yet, though it's questionable whether that security is needed, but nonetheless NEM is trading at a little bit higher of a marketcap, so there's room in one's portfolio for both coins.  :\

On another note, I think it's smart not to release the full source code of a coin... if a coin is really good, like NEM, they'd be better off considering the code as part of their intellectual property, or a "trade secret" and give just enough code out to let people know it's safe to use, but outside of that what good does it do releasing the full source code which lets people use it and make clone coins?  Ripple went closed source and I think they were smart to do so, from a business and investment standpoint.
424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Medical student $300k+ in debt... Crypto investments a way out? on: May 23, 2017, 09:54:53 PM
It was a year ago. Not now.
425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XtraBYtes - The Proof of Signature Blockchain Revolution on: May 23, 2017, 09:44:21 PM
So no static nodes can be registered by anyone ever again?  Will it open up again after the new static chain is up and running?  Thanks for the clarification!
426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the fair price for the most undervalued coin of the moment? (list) on: May 23, 2017, 04:46:04 PM
I have 15k ark and 530k xtrabytes.  Xtrabytes has 20 bagger potential.
427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XtraBYtes - The Proof of Signature Blockchain Revolution on: May 23, 2017, 12:23:07 PM
Got another 200k@ 320 SATs.  Enough for a static node now.   We'll get this on bittrex and poloniex. It deserves as much

428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: What to Invest? Ark - We trust - Ripple on: May 23, 2017, 12:17:35 PM
Pick up some xtrabytes here. Proof of signature. Read up on it.  No brainer at around 320 SATs.

Of course you have XEM the bitcoin replacement coin.
429  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can someone tell me bad things about NEM? on: May 23, 2017, 12:05:04 PM
XEMs proof of importance is fairly robust though xtrabytes has something called proof of signature which to me seems like it would be even more secure but probably not as scalable (raw transactions per second) as nem.   XEM should be the bitcoin replacement.  Time will tell.

In NEM nodes are given a reputation rating where they can be blacklisted by other nodes for bad transactions and with xtrabytes all transactions are checked by all static nodes.

To be exploitable a person with nefarious intentions would have to control more than half the supernodes which would take a large number of xem at this point. I'm hoping they lower the supernode requirement at some point.  More supernodes, more secure.
430  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Top 5 Altcoins to Trade/Invest on: May 23, 2017, 10:38:01 AM
Now that I'm fully invested, I'll mention xtrabytes, a proof of signature coin that has unique technology to verify transactions.  Trading pretty cheap with an active development team. Don't get me wrong it's pretty crude compared to a robust platform like XEM but it has potential with it's $4.5M market cap, especially once it hits better exchanges.

a little about mijin

http://mijin.io/en/about-mijin

"NEM is an advanced, bitcoin 2.0+ system that has been in development since January of 2014. The development team is comprised of professional software engineers and scientists who went to great lengths to study ways to improve existing blockchain platforms and created NEM from scratch to be more secure and easier to develop for than any other platform. Instead of using Proof-of-Work mining, which is wasteful and not eco-friendly, a new concensus algorithm, Proof-of-Importance was developed, which uses low energy and also rewards participation in the economy. NEM was developed using modern software engineering practices such as test-driven development, has over 3,000 unit tests, and was tested on an open network for over 9 months before its release on 2015/3//31.
The currency of NEM is called XEM, but the transfer of XEM is far from the only utility of the NEM blockchain platform. NEM mosaics provide the most advance implementation of digital assets to date and can be associated with blockchain-level domain names. A reputation system and smart contracts/decentralized computing systems are also in development, which will make NEM the most comprehensive block chain platform to date when completed.
Mijin is being built by the NEM development team, using their proven experience and technological prowess. Working with other developers at Tech Bureau, the NEM team is making Mijin the fastest and most secure blockchain platform in existence.
Rather than trusting other projects that are copies of bitcoin or source code that others wrote, it is important to use reliable, professionally developed software that is made by a unified team. Mijin is currently the only platform in existence that fulfills this."

433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XtraBYtes - The Proof of Signature Blockchain Revolution on: May 22, 2017, 02:52:11 AM
well I ended up going the yobit route and got 310,000 XBT for less than I was going to ask here... 333 sats. I was going to ask 400.  Will watch it a bit before I decide if I want to do enough for a static node. No problems with Yobit through this whole process.  In the meantime, I submitted a listing request to bittrex.   The technology is interesting, but the wallet is still pretty primitive. I'll be watching to see what kind of development is done to advance this coin and reading more up on it. Good luck fellow investors. Smiley

If anyone wants to donate me enough for a static node, look for the address with 309999.99 on the richlist and send. Much thanks. Wink
434  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: So looks like NEM is going to be the next Billion Dollar Coin on: May 22, 2017, 02:29:32 AM
I'm pleased to see the whole crypto space has done so well, as for NEM, it's done as I expected, overtaken Litecoin. Subsequent research has me believing it will go head to head with Ethereum and Ripple, so I'm only in as much of a hurry to sell as the amount of time left until this bubble will burst. It's still "less undervalued" than it's competitors, so I hold.

While people on these forums were chasing segwit as the holy grail, they missed what was right in front of them.. though I'm sure they still made money. :\
435  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I am now a multi millionaire because of NEM XEM on: May 22, 2017, 02:18:18 AM
This is a 5+ billion dollar coin. It will give Ripple a run for it's money and as a currency, it's just plain better than Ethereum and bitcoin.  As for selling that amount of coin, it will take you some time.  I'm starting to sound like a pumper now, but honestly I've been factually to the best of my ability trying to say why I believed in this coin since this post here and having my research validated is kind of nice.

If you want to know how we got NEM for "free" take a look at my post history.  Answering the same questions over and over wears on a person after awhile, lol. Today's generation expecting everything to be spoonfed to them.. use the search function. Smiley  If he's a multimillionaire he either bought extra XEM when it was dirt cheap or used sock puppets to get extra stakes.
436  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 22, 2017, 02:12:15 AM

NEM Market Cap is 2.5B Now
Will reach 5B+ in few hours

This move was not totally unexpected. This coin is just great tech.  Some of the alts I've been looking at are downright primitive by comparison.  I called it on May 7th.  As did many others I'm sure. Congratulations to the longs who did their DD.

437  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] XtraBYtes - The Proof of Signature Blockchain Revolution on: May 21, 2017, 11:41:39 PM
2 questions... the trading fee of 100 XBY is kind of high.. that's nearly 80 cents already based on today's price. Will it be lowered? A NEM style fee setup where the fee goes up based on how much is sent would be ideal.  I answered my own question on the static node thing when I downloaded the wallet.

I mostly own XEM and they already have a pretty solid coin in place, but this tech looks interesting.  Will this coin have messaging? What kind of scalability does it have? How many transactions per second? What about multisig?

We will all want things to grow a lot taller and deeper, don't you think?
***

but man look how capital/hard cash is burned on coins...
Doge last commit on github in 2015... Blackcoin same almost.
Other coins are being pumped without any good reason.

BTC as store of value and 1st deflationary money can be some exception and ETH as some kind platform.
But ETH is not working there is not POS/ there is no solution to blockchain bloat / ICOs are being made but they are not utilizing ETH environment . People need BTC to hedge against their governments in India/Japan printing press is making their jobs. Eth funds ICOs. But rest in real world what they are doing for their value ?

I like NEM but current 2 billion valuation is f. JOKE ....

It's better tech than Ethereum and competition for Ripple, and frankly would make a great BTC replacement.  If those whales are worth 13 billion+, NEM is worth 5 billion at least.  2 billion is really nothing from a global economic perspective, heck neither is the current market cap of 72 billion.  Active development. New things coming out all the time. Catapult on the way.

GDP of china.... 11 trillion... japan... 4.5 trillion... the US... 17.95 trillion.. and don't get me started on government debt, particularly unfunded liabilities...  get a few more good exchanges like coinbase/GDAX, Gemini, and itbit that handle conversion to fiat and vice vera and it will only increase adoption rates, not to mention a replacement for bitcoin that can handle a LOT of transactions quickly for low fees.

The top 1% has a ton of money with limited places to put it.  Google and Apple could buy up all the cryptos with their cash on hand and have plenty left over.   If they are a digital store of wealth, makes sense they would sport a market that at least rivals that of gold... all the world's gold is worth $7,568,746,077,329 (7.56 trillion, or around 100X all the cryptos combined)

Big relatively untapped market here that could be a great investment vehicle for the right investors. The big challenge is the exchanges being able to adapt to not only the server load, but the changing landscape of the cryptos.  The potential is there for NEM to be THE coin that replaces bitcoin, when more exchanges cover it. This could happen quicker than people think. Landscape is changing quickly. Bitcoin is a dinosaur by modern crypto standards, to be respected for what it is of course.
439  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum is Now the Most Secure Public Blockchain, Overtaking Bitcoin on: May 21, 2017, 03:32:41 PM
XEM is what this individual meant to say. Secure. Highly scalable. Development ongoing. Track record of dependability. Lowish fees (though they need to lower them more at this point)
440  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 21, 2017, 01:03:33 PM
They're one of many sponsors to the event, a smaller one at that.   Still a great development and things seem to be moving quickly with this coin.   I do believe that XEM is the perfect bitcoin replacement coin. It's the best tech for a scalable currency of any of the alts and bitcoin although respected, is old code  with it's own set of limitations.
