381  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Best source for info on upcoming reputable ICOs on: May 29, 2017, 03:28:32 PM
There is no such thing as a "reputable" ICO.  Roll Eyes
Spoetnik, you are a shit brain in other matters, but I happen to agree with this 100%.  Anyone getting into these ICOs is just asking to get spanked, and I'm talking about the version of spanking that in some countries is considered capital punishment.  These schemes are pure pump-and-dump and nothing more.  It blows my mind that people haven't grasped this yet.  This is like in the 1990s when complete morons like myself were jumping in and out of the latest/hottest biotech and internet mutual funds--but it's worse!  These shitcoins don't represent companies, earnings, debt, or anything else.  They are just electronic ledger entries that people throw their money at, hoping that some other sucker will want to buy at a higher price.  Nothing more.

So, reputable ones?  Bitcoin.  And you can hear the crickets a-chirping after that one.

You are partially correct, but not correct in saying bitcoin is the ONLY reputable coin... it's a dinosaur not capable of handing the scalability needed for modern businesses and small transactions.  The coin in the top 5 that was built with transaction speed and low fees/power consumption in mind.. NEM.

In reality no coin is really worth more or less than someone is willing to pay for it. There are hundreds of dead shitcoins that are technically more advanced than bitcoin's technology.. all about supply and demand, and the underlying technology behind the blockchain.

The majority of ICOs are tokens based on ETH which is the real pump and dump scam among them.  95% will end up nowhere as the devs take the proceeds and run.
382  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: which one is best? on: May 29, 2017, 03:16:12 PM
Both are fine and I use them interchangeably.   It baffles my mind Kraken doesn't add popular cryptos like NEM meanwhile they have stuff like Melon listed. They are rarely mentioned here when they have the potential to be as popular as poloniex if they gave a damn.
383  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 29, 2017, 02:59:14 PM

I fully agree with you. Whenever someone mentions marketing you get answered with "we don't need any hype".
Nem is hardly used by any business, so how  do you expect it to be valuable in the long term.
No matter how good the tech is, if there is no marketing and no one can use it in their daily life it will become useless.
It looks like nem was just a hobby project or a test project for the Nem team. they are too busy creating some other stuff for real businesses like Mijjn and Catapult. And we just hope that some of the success will flow into Nem. Just pathetic. They have a Nem  marketing fund which they do not use and they do not update us about their plans with regard to Nem itself.
No idea why people are so excited with those side projects, currently Catapult that is supposed to come out in August. I doubt we will see any positive effect that causes shops and businesses to implement NEM

They are working on polishing the tech before marketing it.. think of it akin to releasing a video game in a fully finished state versus rushing it out the door and fixing it with patches and DLC after the game is released.  They are marketing where it matters.. not on internet forums, but to real businesses, right now in Japan.

Well-reasoned as usual, thanks for getting back.

I sure hope you're right-one big push higher in NEM and I'll be retired!

I have some more questions about Xtrabytes but don't want to derail the thread; I'll PM you.

Happy for ya!  I don't have that much, just had a stake, and I've sold 60% of it (around $250K worth) around these levels. I have a good job and already had some stocks but NEM did increase my liquid net worth by more than triple and total net worth by double (not counting my unsold NEM). The rest I plan to hold for NEM's future.

At first I simply didn't trust the exchanges but as I spend more time with em I'm not so rushed to pull everything out into USD. Particularly coinbase and their teaming up with Fidelity, I feel it's safe to keep assets there... perhaps even safer than my local banks since neither of them have 2 factor authentication.   GDAX is a nice platform.  Kraken has missed out on quite a bit of business that I've given to Gemini, Coinbase, Bittrex, and Poloniex, because of their not listing NEM.
384  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Which Super Cheap Coin is best to invest in? on: May 29, 2017, 02:52:26 PM
Coins I own

NEM

Xtrabytes

Viacoin

Ark

Do your own DD.
385  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Sub-500 Sato Coins with huge upside potential? on: May 29, 2017, 02:17:56 PM
Coin I just bought... Viacoin. Already listed on poloniex. Active development. Segwit coming.  Bought this morning. Possible 10 bagger.

Coins I hold...

NEM (going to be the bitcoin killer)
Xtrabytes (unique tech)
Viacoin (litecoin but much cheaper)
Ark (blah)

As for being below 500 sats, price is meaningless. Market cap is what matters, and the underlying tech and development team.
386  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Viacoin (VIA) - Safe | Segwit | Lightning Network | Auxpow | Fast on: May 29, 2017, 02:10:28 PM
I'm in. Might as well. With the active development and the hype about segwit and the fact it's already trading on poloniex, makes it an easy choice.   NEM is superior, but it's also much more expensive. Might as well support a coin that from my perspective seems to be superior to litecoin but trading at a peanut market cap.
387  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ripple worth taking the chance? on: May 29, 2017, 12:20:10 PM
I'd say invest in NEM/XEM instead.  Not only is it trading at a fraction of the market cap, most of the development is Japan focused which is a good thing. With Mijin and Catapult on the way the tech looks to be among the most promising in the crypto space. This is Ripple's primary competitor, and it's coming along great.

http://mijin.io/en/about-mijin

The name Mijin comes from a ninja weapon made from 3 chains that would tear an enemy apart into tiny piece. Mijin similarly destroys the cost of conventional infrastructure.
388  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Why is everything red again on: May 29, 2017, 11:25:12 AM
Coin marketcap's gainer/loser status is based on a 24 hour day, so if the coins are under what they were trading 24 hours ago, or bitcoin rises more than the altcoin does, it will show the altcoin went down, since the percentages are based on the relative price to bitcoin.
389  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: Safe, not expensive alt coin exchange on: May 29, 2017, 11:19:02 AM
I don't want to sound like an ass, but if you don't have the ability to use google or search the forums to find this answer yourself, you probably shouldn't be investing in crypto, as you'll need to do far more DD than this to properly invest in altcoins.  To answer your question, poloniex and bittrex are what you're looking for.  Kraken has left a lot of potential revenue on the table by not listing certain coins like NEM. Their loss.
390  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 29, 2017, 11:14:46 AM
when nem will roll out the new marketing plan?
when nem will roll out the new website?

this situation is becoming laughable .

we need precise answers.
we are investing our families saving here

i still think the nem bizarre marketing SUCKS

with the tech that we have we should be at 4 billions by now

Your problem is, that you do wrong.
You just DON'T invests family savings, that you need to feed your kids. You DON'T!
Just invest, what you can afford to loose. And then you can also have the patience you need now.
i invested the family saving on Nem because i am sure of the bright future of nem
i just dislike the marketing side .
they ignore the crypto space,  not wise not wise
imo Marketing should be divided 50% crypto + 50% non crypto .

Honestly I would be careful if you invested up here. Though I think NEM's long term future is bright, there's no guarantees in life and if this bubble bursts it could take NEM and cut it's valuation in half yet... don't invest what you're not willing to lose... the easy money has been made (where we went from 50 million to 1.8 billion market cap in 2 months)  Though I believe it deserves a 10 billion dollar market cap or better, being the number 2 coin, doesn't mean the market will agree with me.

Thank you for the newsletter. Little stuff like this and keeping the information up to date makes a big difference. Smiley
392  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: List of time tested alt coins on: May 29, 2017, 12:26:55 AM
goldcoin and unobtanium come to mind. I'd never invest in them because they're POW clone coins with nothing to offer, but for a quick pump I suppose... NEM is going to be the tech that takes cryptos to the next level. The work going on with mijin right now is going to pay handsomely in the long haul.

http://mijin.io/en/about-mijin

"Mijin is being built by the NEM development team, using their proven experience and technological prowess. Working with other developers at Tech Bureau, the NEM team is making Mijin the fastest and most secure blockchain platform in existence.
Rather than trusting other projects that are copies of bitcoin or source code that others wrote, it is important to use reliable, professionally developed software that is made by a unified team. Mijin is currently the only platform in existence that fulfills this."

https://medium.com/nem-distributed-ledger-technology-blockchain/hitachi-and-tech-bureau-building-nem-based-blockchain-platform-in-japan-1fb4714392af

"Today, NEM is undergoing development of an upgraded core technology called “Catapult”. Catapult will power mijin in the first phase and become implemented into the NEM public chain subsequently."
393  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 28, 2017, 11:59:27 PM
Good to shake out the weak hands and those taking profits.... long term this coin will be the bitcoin killer, not ethereum which can do maybe 16 transactions per second, but this coin, which will be able to do 3000 transactions per second, with the scalability Mijin and Catapult bring to the table.  Really that's what the real world is looking for first and foremost.. an application platform can be built on any old coin now since they opened sourced everything... it's one reason I don't think they should open source the entire NEM/Mijin code.... what's the incentive to invest in a coin when any firm can simply copy the coin with no legal repercussions?  Your source code is your ability to license it out.. it's your intellectual property.

NEM has something no other coin really has now with Mijin, just like Xtrabytes has it's static node tech.. I don't think either of these coins should just open source this, personally. If you care about return on investment, it's not such a bad thing to have trade secrets...

I was quite disheartened yesterday...quite the opposite today. Good to see that the market has some resilience and that a massive pullback is seen as a buying opportunity, not a reason to abandon/avoid crypto.

Praying for some big things here of course...10-20x would suit me quite well Smiley

Dissident-you've mentioned Xtrabytes a few times now. Without going too far off topic, why do you think their tech is not just interesting, but worth investing in?

I like the static node technology. In theory it's unhackable if you read a little bit into it. Combined with a lowish market cap I'm willing to give it some investment money.  It started out as a scam coin and a talented programmer decided in conjunction with another person to take over the coin before it died and hopefully recoup some of their losses from the scammer who left. They are in the process of creating a new blockchain to replace the original chain, which they dub the "static" chain. Once this is done they will retire the old chain completely, and from there development continues.

NEM is far more advanced and polished as a coin and I'm not convinced the static node tech is even needed compared to NEM's proof of importance and supernodes but it's an interesting tech nonetheless.  I still think NEM could be the coin that takes over bitcoin's role and takes the king spot. In all the articles, particularly the latest article where they talk about Fidelity and Coinbase teaming up to show your coinbase account information on your Fidelity account, they talk about bitcoin's limitations when Fidelity employees were trying to use it, namely the slow transaction speed. NEM solves this problem, and no coin comes close to the scalabliity of NEM, so NEM is still my baby. Plus it has a good logo, simple yet effective name, and good team behind it.

394  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When is this board going to start talking about XtraBytes? on: May 28, 2017, 10:51:10 PM
As part of the Community Board I can confirm that this is not the attitude we want.

As a believer in the tech and having no confidence in a leadership team that hasn't in over a month been able to make a fuckng website and ANN, a job than my daughter could do in one day, I can confirm you can fuck off too you incompetent noob.

Half the people on the slack said they heard about XBY though my posts, the same people that then bought and set up statics while you fuckwits can't do the simplest tasks. Go fucking make the website you useless idiot.

I'm starting to like this guy. I think at least he'd get things done. Just keep him out of a HR/PR role. Hey, were not all good at being civil and personable. Smiley  I shouldn't have had to dig through tons of pages of posts and youtube videos to be told that static node registration ended at block 50,000, and actually cost 500K instead of a million.. all that shit should have been in the ANN on the first post, first page of the thread on bitcointalk. I'm willing to cut em some slack though, because of the tech.
395  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Blockchain Bubble in the Making? Memories of 2000 Tech Bubble on: May 28, 2017, 10:38:22 AM
The bubble has already burst. What you are seeing now is the dead cat bounce. I transferred some more coin into my accounts, ready to sell at work today if necessary.  Though I really like NEM/XEM, the US market doesn't give it the respect it deserves and still extolls crapcoins with segwit over the superior tech that is already here, so I'm more than willing to take profits and buy back in lower. Well off to work.
396  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When is this board going to start talking about XtraBytes? on: May 28, 2017, 10:36:11 AM
140 BTC worth dump will send this coin to 0, extremely risky one of those .000001 coins that has 700x then fall back to 300x from initial price. They're going to try to drive demand and if buy orders get big enough they'll dump. Pump and Dump lure, all these people advertising are most likely holders trying to force demand so they can dump on your head lol.

That's the story of every coin that exists. I'd certainly hold this coin over the long term versus dogeshit.  I go for the good tech, and this coin also has a good name as well.  Dogeshit is a guaranteed sub 100 million dollar coin when the bubble pops.. the tech in this thing is promising enough that I'm not too worried about it.

As far as how they are mined, do your own DD.  Get tired of spoon-feeding people information after awhile.
397  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: May 28, 2017, 12:23:12 AM
good to see 10000 sats again. This coin sure deserves it.
398  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin was just dumped down to $2360 on: May 27, 2017, 11:58:52 PM
were very close to breaking out of a descending triangle on a 5 minute chart.. this suggests bitcoin could go up to around $2300-2400 if we break above this pattern on GDAX.

We just broke above it as I was finishing this post. It needed to hit $2100 on GDAX and it did.  Charts suggest we go up to what I said above.. let's see if the technical analysis plays out.
399  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: When is this board going to start talking about XtraBytes? on: May 27, 2017, 11:29:32 PM
Everyone is a tough guy on the internet. Despite that, this coin is the best chance you will ever have to make it big. Its a very unique coin, and i think its selling point is that its not a bitcoin clone and it does everything bitcoin or the other shitcoins have to offer much better.

I tend to agree... unless they release their source code and then 6 other developers decide to clone the coin and add a bunch of features beside.  I like NEM and I like Xtrabytes. I don't want them to give away all their secrets so anyone can come along and copy them. How do you profit from that as a business? How do you license your open source code out to other companies? Answer? They simply take your code and make their own version.  I realize open source has worked great for pumping altcoins, and bitcoin is open source, but bitcoin is the original.. there's much more competition in this space now.... it's time to take it to the next level, to find the next bitcoin killer (which I believe is XEM for what it's worth) and that should take a level of protecting one's hard work .. that doesn't mean completely closed source, simply partially, or even 2/3 open source, while protecting the parts of the code that set your blockchain tech apart from other coins.  It's hard enough for a coin to get attention as it is with 500 shitcoins out there, much less the added difficulty when a bunch of people decide to clone your coin's tech and start their own. Aren't there enough shitcoins out there?   If the coin can make top 25, then maybe open up the source code... maybe.... you've rewarded your investors thus far.. I guess it depends on what your goals are as the coin's development team.. do you want to license out your tech and have big aspirations in mind?  Do you care if the source code is simply copied for the good of mankind and to the satisfaction of the more anarchistic types who demand everything be open source because they don't trust the "establishment"?
