You know, I don't see a halving assignment in the code except for the initial block 280k halving. Unless I missed it somewhere. Unless this is it, with the bitshift:

Quote
int64 static GetBlockValue(int nHeight, int64 nFees)
{
    int64 nSubsidy = 420 * COIN;

    // Subsidy is cut in half every 280000 blocks, which will occur approximately every 4 months
    nSubsidy >>= (nHeight / NDIFF_START_DIGISHIELD); // Potcoin: 280k blocks in ~4 months

    return nSubsidy + nFees;
}

To be silly? The font and size don't even match, and you can see artifacts. It's entirely shopped.

Not to mention they wouldn't hook up like that anyhow. Unless they changed their design again haha.

I just found something interesting in litecointalk.    http://postimg.org/image/mul320zw1

A clearly edited photo?

It does 'see' it as work the same way for the most part, but the backend if not properly tuned for fast hashing asics, can cause low hashrates/high errors, and cause them to cap out or poop. I've seen it firsthand. I definitely wouldn't trust a multipool if I had a Titan and was focused on ROI. I've seen SHA256 coins do the same thing, especially on pools where the operator didn't really know much about tuning the backend, causing 100-200gh miners to be running around 50-75, because the pool couldn't use the work being generated.

I've seen large GPU farms do just fine on a pool, and when gridseeds of same hashrate hit the same pool, they tank. They required custom settings on the backend. I would bet that for some--not all--the same thing is occuring fo KNC's gear.

Certainly doesn't apply to the Smolder feature which some have been shipped with.

would some electrical contact grease not help?

You could solder the cables to the board and still have the same/similar issues if there's too much draw.

While it's a pisspoor setup from an OEM, I would just bite the bullet and solder some 12-16 gauge wires from the 12v rail inside the PSU, to the PCB and be done with it.

I find it awfully peculiar that they'd go against standard electrical practices with that single connector design. They're not dumb. There's an old phrase, if it's too coincidental, it's not coincidental.

The only question is, what's the gain for them purposefully using a single connector? It would have to be a really good gain because it would likely nail them in the foot from future orders en-masse. First thing which comes to my mind, speculating, is that it delays/limits the rampup of nethash.

Then there's cloudhashing, is it tied in a way to shift thought toward cloud hashing?

Who knows..

Flood them with emails, calls and send them something via post. All of you, not just a handful. You will get attention swiftly in this manner, and if enough do it, it could even be marked as a scam on a business level, and would be broadcast to other financial institutions.

By requesting final payment for delivery and then pulling the option for credit card transactions only days later
(Thereby forcing buyers into an unprotected transaction.)

AKA their Bailout funds to start a new tapeout.

Is it too late to buy in for their next batch? You'd think they would be focusing on their next product.

I mentioned a short while back that if they had plans for future development, they'd already be lining up a 2nd batch and opening the sales at least 60 days prior to shipment of the first batch (90-100 typically). However, they are not, and with no apparent future plans (they stopped talking about Batch 2 a long time ago), there's no indicator that they're sticking around.

Can you provide an itemized list of what BTC went to, and if person(s) their appropriate contact info? Somewhat like a receipt. That may help some folks.

Of course they can't, they used over $11,000 USD to fund building the site. Supposedly.

My experience with operating/maintaining scrypt pools (multi-GH range), as well as asic gear, has shown that pool-side capabilities are a large part of the equation. Some of the chinese gear doesn't show you errors or stop/slow-down when issues arise, it just keeps tossing hash into the void hoping the pool takes it. As a result, it'll still show hash happening at advertised amounts. Meanwhile, the pool may not be able to handle it all.

When ASIC came along, most pools couldn't properly handle the hash. Lots of technical reasons for this. Scrypt-asic specific settings on the pool backend, and it's different for each manufacturer/hashrate, are what really help the mining system shine.

I've talked to some folks who had issues with Titans, and several pool hops later, their gear is mining close to/at spec. Pool operators need to work with ASIC owners to help mitigate these issues. The same thing occured when ASIC came around for SHA. You could toss 1TH at a bitcoin pool and it worked, but another might show errors or simply report low hashrate. This was very evident with SHA altcoins, as the pool ops were new and not accustomed to knowing how to handle the tuning settings on their side.

So talk to the pool operators if you're having issues, try out different pools/etc. You can buy a Lamborhini, but if the road it's on is rubbish you won't reach advertised speeds.

Captured: http://postimg.org/image/yncgmyds9/

What I found more interesting is the wording: "...this is something we have learnt we should have done from the start so we can avoid expectations and hopefully announce good news".

Also, found on here: http://postimg.org/image/yncgmyds9/ is the promise: "we will be paying extra to have every aspect of this next stage expedited and we expect shipping to commence sometime in the latter half of September"

So it's been 2 months, and they still haven't learned to properly project progress or discern management milestones. They will now be 3-4 months late on delivery, or another way to look at it, 1-5 gigahash behind global competition, and have failed to deliver prior to competition or at a better efficiency rate. Even if their gear exists and ships and is more efficient, the fact is with a growing nethash, hash power now is worth more than hash power down the road.

Also, keep in mind their share scheme is based on the company lasting for years, with more batches each year, and possibly someone like Facebook buying the company out (You can read that on their news page). They talked frequently about batch 2 orders, up until recently--they haven't talked about future batches in awhile now.

*golf clap for Alpha*

As retro and others have suggested, keep focusing on your cases and don't let up. 50/90mh machines are fast-tracking themselves the way of the dinosaurs, as competition ramps up multi-hundred MH systems, with some promises into the GH/multi-algo range fpr upcoming generations.
235  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: September 29, 2014, 04:00:09 AM
They are on track as predicted by folks who understand the ASIC development process... it was predicted they'd ship in November, and they are on that track. At least they didn't announce this 5 minutes before the Q3 deadline, but the reality is they've likely known about this for awhile..

For anyone who still believes in this "share scheme", where do you think you guys are getting your money from? They're not opening up new batches of gear. If they plan to ship a new, improved, batch within a month or so of the first.. they'd already have to have had it go through tapeout as well. Unless they open a batch after shipping, and then you guys wait years for anything to happen.

Seriously.. listen to the folks here, get cracking on your cases. Best of luck to everyone. This corpse continues to roll down the road.

Great wisdom for many applications..
237  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: PotCoin | THE OFFICIAL COIN FOR THE CANNABIS INDUSTRY | Launched 01/21 @ 4:20 on: September 26, 2014, 03:27:39 PM
The comment about no use for the coin is definitely not true.

You're missing the big picture

- POTcoin is one of the few coins that can be used to buy anything where Bitcoin is accepted through https://www.coingateway.net/  , including Newegg, Dell, Overstock, etc.

I can do that using Bitcoin or Litecoin at Gyft.com or another place I frequent, and get a discount. You know, the cryptos designed for everyday use, not something designed for a niche.

- there are several merchants on POTcoin's website that accepts POTcoin for POT related purchases (and getting 10% discount for paying with POT!): http://www.potcoin.com/accept-potcoin/merchant-directory/

- you can use POTcoin to pay at any merchant that accepts https://www.coinpayments.net/  gateway (including our own lil' humble naughty website  Grin )

Can you buy pot with it legally? Going back to the big picture. The other coins have heavy buy-in and much more broad use, therefore have buy pressure and stable value. While potcoin may be used for various things, so are other coins. I like potcoin, don't get me wrong, but the context is value over time. Potcoin's trend has always been downward, and twice now there have been synthetic attempts to raise the value--which have failed. Why? Going back to the bigger picture ... you're missing it.

It's not to say that in the future, with adoption, the value won't rise. I'm framing my comment based on past-present.

Loyalty reward payments

As a member of the Scam, you will be entitled to a loyalty reward payment each time that Alpha declares pigs can fly.

Following the expiry of Alpha, Alpha shall consider whether it wishes to run off with your money. There shall be no obligation on Alpha to laugh all the way to the bank, but if we choose to do so, then we shall. Muahahahahahaha.

It's funny, after seeing AT's methods lately, I read that and it's hard to tell it's satire.

2 business days left for them to deliver. KNC is hashing, other OEMs are following suit. LTC difficulty rising.

Scheme - a plan or programme of action, especially a crafty or secret one

Rest assured, the earth is spinning.

For those who have both BFL and KnCMiner experience. Which company is worse? Can you even compare the two?

KnCminer had and still has huge margins for the Titan that they refuse to even give a fifth cube or ship within a week of getting their chips.

And their whole datacenter made them wealthier than anyone ever has been in the bitcoin scene.

While both have had issues, I don't believe KNC is worse than BFL. It's also a very subjective topic.
