Dev doesn't respond to PMs.
262  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [BCN] Bytecoin (CPU-mining, true anonymity) on: June 19, 2014, 05:42:08 PM
This is true anonymity. Darkcoin just fakes it.
263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][IRC] IRCoin Scrypt Based on: June 19, 2014, 05:45:01 AM
Dev gone, coin dead.

Official nodes are are offline, no one is active on IRC.
264  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [NFD] THE DISTRIBUTION LIST IS READY AND LIVE! on: June 16, 2014, 05:53:19 AM
There are some reference errors in the totals sheet.

For Acszdf, the category 1 reference cell is wrong. There are many more e.gs.

265  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NFDv2] - NXT fork - NFD distribution - Launch Date 2014/06/15 on: June 16, 2014, 05:40:36 AM
Please replace

"IPO closed since 11th of May!"

With "NO IPO". The above normally means IPO shutdown since 11th may (no one reads the thread time).
266  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] #WeAreSatoshi WAS Sha-256 - 4 Exchanges!! - FAST & EASY to Mine today on: June 15, 2014, 02:33:14 PM
Coin for the frustrated owners of expensive ASIC miners who're scavenging for rare sha-256 coins on the forum.

Scrypt will have the same fate. Go warn them.

Others have posted more vulnerabilities (too many to patch).

Just a heads up --

COIN NOT HARDENED AGAINST HEARTBLEED.

To prevent your computer from being hacked and your wallets being stolen...

litecoin is a sleeping volcano

Yeah, instead of destroying lives, it destroys investors.
270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUMP SCRYPT, SCRYPT-N COINS (litecoin, doge etc...) BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! on: June 14, 2014, 06:11:49 PM
why do u people even discuss Litecoin?

such utterly useless coin without any feature whatsoever that has constantly dropped in value... ouch...

You will be surprise if it jumped 2-3x.

LOL yes 2-3x lower again as in previous months? Haha good one:D

Price drop that too at such a high difficulty. I think its due asic manufacturers mining and dumping the coins who don't even care about LTC , and why will they when they already have stacked large amount of money in pre-orders while they are mining the shit out of miners.

Actually the price have been dropping way before ASICs came in action. It started from January this year. Talks about ASIC started from last end of last year (October was the first reference) and Gridseed also released on December. As soon as this news spread (in 1 to 3 months), people have been dumping their coins continuously.

The only practical advantage of Scrypt is lost.

The choice to use scrypt was also partially to avoid giving advantage to video card (GPU), FPGA and ASIC miners over CPU miners. Mining litecoin with a CPU or video card is approximately 1000 times slower than mining bitcoin with the same CPU or video card.

Due to Litecoin's use of the scrypt algorithm, FPGA and ASIC devices made for mining Litecoin are more complicated to create and more expensive to produce than they are for Bitcoin, which uses SHA-256.

But LTC investors still believe in it cause...... they invested, possibly at higher prices or bought Scrypt ASIC.

If this coin is dead, why is the network still alive?

relaunch in the making?

The official nodes are dead.

Which does not explicitly point to the fact the coin is dying, or am I being naive?

I've seen a lot of alts.

Usually when a coin's dev is gone, the coin dies.
272  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DUMP SCRYPT, SCRYPT-N COINS (litecoin, doge etc...) BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!! on: June 14, 2014, 08:22:41 AM
All the coins are under threat, even bitcoin.

Scrypt coins are numerous, and most will die.

As far as litecoin goes, it is entrenched as the second coin. I don't see why it won't just do as bitcoin has done after Asics, and get absurdly high difficulty levels.

There are too many interests in it for it to just whither away.

The question is what coin will arrive to knock bitcoin (and litecoin) from their perches?

Clue: Whatever it is, it has not happened yet.

Oh poor OP with literally no idea how crypto economy works.
But i have to admit that it was amusing to read.
Quote my words for future. Litecoin will hit 50 $ within a year or in worst case 2 years.
This.

Litecoin is being secured by its own ASIC hardware.

It will be the 2nd most secure coin on the planet.

I've no idea of the economy... oh my...

And SUDDENLY litecoin reaches $50.... wow an economist predicting the prices to reach off charts in 12 months.

Limit this mostly to CPU, so only full blown computers can compute it, and one doesn't have to buy special purpose hardware. The hardware will be useless otherwise and after all coins have been mined (unless the incentive to mine is still up and maintained in some way like unlimited coins or high transaction fee), the miner will actually throw it away or sell it to someone else (who may be a cracker who's accumulating firepower for bad mining). This is partially true for GPU hardware, but they have a gaming purpose apart from computational purpose, and probably the miners will themselves use it in gaming. So all in all, prefer 1) CPU only, 2) CPU & GPU, 3) Special purpose hardware.

With new hardware, mining efficiency will increase; the new miners of the new hardware will start accepting transactions of lower transaction fees making the old hardware redundant cause they take more electricity. They will be sold cheap cause of this reason (lower profit margins or even losses).

For an attacker, electricity cost is not of a concern, cause the attack time will be limited; he's going to earn money by making false transactions in blocks he mined.

Yes -- the old hardware is old generation, but that doesn't mean it'll be slower.

New hardware will not focus on higher hash rate, but power consumed per hash rate, thus, hash rate of new hardware may not increase exponentially making the network more vulnerable to attacks with older hardware.

I'm not sure about the architecture of ASIC miners to comment on that. It's not an ARM processor which can be made faster by simply by increasing the clock speed. Modern AMD and Intel processors are not 4xPentium/athlon 64 @6GHZ. So an improvement in architecture does not necessarily mean faster speeds, it may have been done to reduce electricity consumption by half. Look at mobile processors for instance; they are more efficient than their Desktop (per Whetstone and dhrystone score) counterpart but slower.

We just may have a similar trend for ASIC miners. Same consumption in electricity@little less hashing power.

This's still worst for small alternative cryptocurrency using the same hashing algorithm. They're easy to exploit cause of low difficulty.
275  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NFDv2] No IPO - NXT fork - NFD distribution on: June 14, 2014, 08:09:01 AM
I'm planning to invest once this hits exchange or even before.

Unless you've made a special arrangement that I don't know about, you'll have to wait until NFD is listed on an exchange.

EDIT: When I wrote that original response, I had no idea what erupted in the NEM world. If you're here to ask something along that line with respect to NFD, ask away. Just remember that it's impossible to prove a negative, and that the only private data I am going to disclose is my own. I can say flatly that there is no evidence of any sockpuppetry by any member of the NFD dev team.

The only negative point I'm having here is that the official thread is a self moderated topic.

I got no idea of nem or it's history.

Oh...okay, thanks for clarifying. The NEM scandal was the "scandal of the day" yesterday, so I had assumed that you'd heard about it and wondered if NFD was harbouring a dark secret also. I didn't know that the timing was coincidental.

I have to confess that your request - your dare, if you will - struck us as a bit out of the ordinary Smiley That's why we got our guard up a little. But now that you've clarified, I can see why an unmoderated thread is a serious due-diligence point.

So here you go: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=651171.new#new

I also included, in the third paragraph of my OP, my policy for my responses in the thread.

Since MaWo started this thread, I can't guarantee that he'll add a link to the above in his OP, but I have complied with your request otherwise.

Yeah, so now there are no reasons to criticize, but only if this link gets added on the top post.
276  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [NFDv2] No IPO - NXT fork - NFD distribution on: June 14, 2014, 08:08:10 AM
Your Spam excuse is same as "To delete troll post and mindless criticism" which does not harm any crypto. Check out the top 10 cryptos and none of them have self moderated topics, including NXT, spam didn't harm them.

Then what's with this request over in the NEM thread? Yes, NEM:

Would it be possible to delete the posts of Gorillajam? I think we should welcome criticism as much as any other thread but he's just trying to bring NEM down because of what appears to be jealousy or fear. It's not constructive at all and quite sad to have that in a 500 page thread that up to know was mostly informative, fun and positive (what NEM should be about).

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=426303.msg7277895#msg7277895

I know it's not your request, but the person that made it to the NEM thread mod was serious. I am interested in your personal opinion about that NEMster's (public) request to the mod of the NEM thread to start deleting posts in that thread by Gorillajam.

I got no idea of nem or it's history.

I usually avoid these 100% premined coins, but this one has a plan and looks fair, except the self moderated part.

Please make a separate criticism thread.

You can still find all from users or from me deleted messages here
https://bitcointa.lk/threads/ann-nfdv2-no-ipo.312346/

Can you please place this on the top post?

Doge has the same trend as Litecoin.
