are you sure it is taken down.?
I can no longer see that paid phishing link when searching the word "blockchain". So, it seems it has been taken down by google. Now steps should be taken towards taking the website down..! The website www.BlockChain.com is still up and I think, those who have downloaded and installed the android wallet from them are infected. Experts are requested to clarify my statement... The site isnt up anymore?! Looks like you guys were confused lol. The site blockchain.com is legit, and is owned by blockchain.info. You can find the link in the blockchain.info twitter profile. https://twitter.com/blockchainhttps://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=318064.0

Difficulty will never go down.
Not necessarily. If bitcoin price is stable and difficulty keeps increasing, sooner or later, people with less efficient equipment and high electricity cost will shut down their machines. The difficulty will then drop, until it reach an equilibrium.

https://blockchain.info/address/1BGbGFBhsXYq6kTyjSC9AHRe1dhe76tD6i This address has been used by a certain unknown miner to collate his earnings from mining blocks. For every block this person finds, it sends a satoshi to this address. So how can Blockchain.info associate this address with double spends if the address hasn't spent anything and only newly generated coins are attributed to it? Thanks in advance for your help p.s. Interesting note about this "Unknown" miner: all the blocks mined sent to this address have a certain amount of transactions... 1,2,4,8,16,32,64,128,256,512.... No idea on the first part. For the second part, there have been some discussion on reddit. http://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/20y0nq/why_do_all_the_blocks_hashed_by_unknown_miners/

Double spend handling in the wallet was improved?
If you are talking about the issue "transaction malleability", the new version handle it better. Transaction malleability-related fixes --------------------------------------
This release contains a few fixes for transaction ID (TXID) malleability issues:
- -nospendzeroconfchange command-line option, to avoid spending zero-confirmation change - IsStandard() transaction rules tightened to prevent relaying and mining of mutated transactions - Additional information in listtransactions/gettransaction output to report wallet transactions that conflict with each other because they spend the same outputs. - Bug fixes to the getbalance/listaccounts RPC commands, which would report incorrect balances for double-spent (or mutated) transactions. - New option: -zapwallettxes to rebuild the wallet's transaction information

Number of correct answers: 12 Been there You are a seasoned sailor and surely have your farm and a certain fortune held in cryptocurrencies. However, remember, it's never too late to learn, and there is no doubt that you will find something interesting for yourself. Read here: BitcoinWiki PS: It would be time for you to personally write or correct a couple of articles. This would be a great way to clean up your karma.

synched up my wallet and found a transaction... that I never made. it emptied my wallet.

looks like a couple others got hacked as well.
trying to figure out how it happened. I encrypt my wallet and have a passphrase that is pretty strong...
backup wallet would be useless because the tx has already happened in the chain correct?
Which wallet are you using? bitcoin-qt? It is a bit strange that the hacker didn't empty your wallet, and there is still 0.09 BTC on that address. You should now send the remaining 0.09 BTC to a new wallet ASAP.
