201  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Definition of mBTC an uBTC on: October 03, 2014, 08:19:44 AM
Here is your equation
 1 mBTC= 0.001BTC
 1 uBTC = 0.000001BTC

How about in Satoshis?

1 μBTC = 100 satoshi
1 mBTC = 100,000 satoshi
1 BTC = 100,000,000 satoshi
202  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Noob Question on: October 03, 2014, 08:17:38 AM
There is no "actual price" for bitcoin, as different places are providing different services and charging different fees.
Some allow you to buy anonymously, some are more trusted, some accept payments that may be chargeback, some have a lower buy limit, etc.
203  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: anyone from here brought from mimocloud.net? on: October 03, 2014, 08:09:44 AM
Haven't heard about this cloudmining site.
I just checked its bitcoin mining plans, and it charges you $0.08 per GH/s per week, which means you will never receive any mining revenue. Smiley

204  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Lost Bitcoin on: October 03, 2014, 08:04:11 AM
Thats why i split my coins on different wallets in case

And what wallets is that?
you can use different online wallets like coinbase, blockchain and ofc Bitcoin Client etc..

If there is a malware in your pc, your bitcoin on your Coinbase, blockchain.info, Bitcoin Core wallet could all be gone.
So it is better to store bitcoin in an offline wallet.
205  Other / Meta / Re: poll on: October 03, 2014, 08:01:10 AM
You are welcome.
Since you joined bitcointalk in Sept 20, you would be able to get to the jr member rank as soon as Oct 14. Smiley

BTW, thanks mod for moving the thread.

207  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where Can I Learn More? on: October 03, 2014, 07:47:13 AM
Guys, if someone asks me, where is the best place for a newbie to learn more about bitcoin? Bitcointalk not included. Trolls might discourage the newbie.

No one mentioned https://bitcoinhelp.net/ yet in this thread, so I will be the first one.
It offers some good articles and links some youtube for newbies to understand bitcoin.
208  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Paper wallets on: October 03, 2014, 07:07:28 AM
You can use this website to print out paper wallets:

https://www.bitaddress.org/bitaddress.org-v2.9.3-SHA1-7d47ab312789b7b3c1792e4abdb8f2d95b726d64.html

Not sure about altcoins, for Bitcoins this should work.

Well I just learned that bitcoin wallets used a first letter in there tags im sure bitcoins is a number but litecoin starts with an L and i know Name coins start with an N

but since my coin is like litecoin it starts with an L. I think I am correct but not 100% sure

If you want to create litecoin paper wallets, you can use https://liteaddress.org/
It is like the ltc version of the bitaddress site. Smiley
209  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Micro transactions - confirmations? on: October 03, 2014, 06:49:33 AM
Well, next question then, based on the previous response.

What is offchain? I am using blockchain.info wallet, and I think it's online all the time. ^frown^

Offchain transactions are transactions that are not processed and recorded in the bitcoin blocks.
For example, you can send bitcoin from your Coinbase account to my Coinbase account. There will be no public bitcoin transaction going through but just only a record on the Coinbase's internal database.
210  Other / Meta / Re: Trust System - How does it work ?? on: October 03, 2014, 06:45:33 AM
Some additional info here, even if you have some trusted positive feedback, you may not have a green trust score.

For example, hilariousandco has a trusted positive feedback but has a black trust score 0: -0 / +1(1)

216  Economy / Gambling / Re: Blockchain-TXid-based revolutionary lottery,win up to 1000X money!! on: September 06, 2014, 06:05:02 AM
Hmm we have 1/16 chance to get 2x, 1/16^2 chance to get 10x, 1/16^3 chance to get 100x, 1/16^4 chance to get 500x, 1/16^5 chance to get 1000x and otherwise get 0.5x, am I right?

And from my calculation, that will make the house edge at 33.6%.

I was too lazy to do the math but my first intention was that the house edge might be a bit huge.

And yea you showed it^^

Do you consider 50% refund ?
Other game like dice lose 100%, this game you still got 50% refund even you lose.
Think about it !

Yup, I have considered it already in the calculation.

Code:
1/16 * 2 + 1/16^2 * 10 + 1/16^3 * 100 + 1/16^4 * 500 + 1/16^5 * 1000 + (1-1/16-1/16^2-1/16^3-1/16^4-1/16^5) * 0.5 = 0.6637263298

So I can expect to get back 66.4% of my bet size (before tx fee), and expect to lose 33.6%.

Hmmm there were 74816 bitcoin bets made in the previous day, and the total wagered amount is just 185 btc?!  Shocked
It looks like someone was trying to make a lot of spamming bets.

220  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Mark Karpeles Owner Of MtGox Starts Up A New Business, Web Hosting on: September 01, 2014, 09:08:29 PM
what happened with the wallet they "found" did they give these funds to the users that lost their money there?

Not yet, the whole bankruptcy process takes a very long time.
The mtgox users can file their claims until May 2015 and the investigation will be in Sept 2015. http://www.mtgox.com/img/pdf/20140728_announcement.pdf
Who knows how long it will take for the users to get part of their bitcoin back...
