Try clicking the "Recover Intermediate Addresses", as Danny suggested.

If it doesn't work, you should create a support ticket on blockchain.info https://blockchain.info/support-desk
282  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: new account for a crypto coin podcast and I am are starting. on: July 30, 2014, 10:23:09 PM
I have another account with some activity that I have had for a year. I am more of a lurker when it comes to forum threads and subreddits. But I do have a voice and you will hear it in the crypto-coin podcast I am developing. We have released the first episode last week and another one is coming soon.

What happened to your other account? If you lost the password, you could recover it by sending a PM to theymos with required info.

As kingama and Kprawn mentioned, you forgot to give us the link lol. Cheesy

284  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: At what point (hash) is solo mining viable? on: July 30, 2014, 10:17:52 PM
If you have 20/2016th of the network (~1%) you should find on average 20 blocks per difficulty period.
Probability of <6 blocks = ~0% (1 in 13,906)
Probability of 7 to 13 blocks = 6.6%
Probability of 14 to 19 blocks = 45.9%
Probability of 20+ blocks = 52.9%

Now we are looking good.  Only 7% chance of earning less than 70% of expected.  Of course your risk tolerance will vary but the same distribution can be done at any percentage of the network.  As the difficulty growth goes down you may not necessarily care about how many blocks in each difficulty period but rather how many blocks per month since the powerbill is due each month.  There are ~4,320 blocks per month which means the probability of extremely bad or good luck over that longer period of time decreases (quite a bit).

Really? Only 1%, I figured it would've been a bit more to be already that safe in terms of variance. I guess solo mining actually is a viable option for some large mining operations. The biggest problem that remains is that you have to keep up with the pace. You have to bring new and better mining equipment online with every difficulty increase.

I just lol at the "only 1%".

You need about 1600 TH/s to have 1% of network hashrate currently, which is roughly 1600 AntMiner S2 or 530 KnC Neptune.
And exactly as you said, to keep up with the uprising difficulty and network hashrate, you will need to keep buying more and more miners to maintain the 1% "market share". Smiley
285  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How do I download a bitcoin wallet? on: July 30, 2014, 10:08:04 PM
I have made some updates to my first tutorial, how to download a desktop wallet and could use some  feedback https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S_BwmMXmWv0&feature=youtu.be. Thanks in advance

It is a pretty good video for newbies, but you should suggest people to use the bootstrap.dat torrent (can be found in the bottom of the Bitcoin Core download page https://bitcoin.org/en/download). It will help people download the blockchain much faster.

Hey.  Why won't you just use a forgotten password tool.
I was reseting my password many times.

Why you cannot do it?

Maybe he has registered the account with a false email address?
In fact, you could enter some BS like (eg6136acjgri@gmail.com) in the email address field, as there is no need for email activation. Smiley

You can actually make real bucks on their forum http://thisweekscoin.com/

Kindly give more info how to learn through the link. Smiley

He is talking about the altcoin giveaway on that forum.
You can find them in http://thisweekscoin.com/forum/index.php?board=10.0 and http://thisweekscoin.com/forum/index.php?board=19.0.

hi everybody i lost my password of my account can any moderator help me? to get the account back?

Mods can't help you in this situation. The only person can help you is theymos.

If you have put one of your addresses in your posts or PMs, you could follow the steps in https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=497545.0 and send theymos with all the required info.
289  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie here on: July 30, 2014, 09:48:20 PM
Think the best one and more popular is freebitco.in. You can use it every hour, but they pay once a week (Sunday). If you're lucky you can get up to 0.35 BTC (don't know has anyone made it though). You can also gamble your funds.

The probability to hit that max payment is very small at just 1/20000 chance.
While it is one of the best faucets, it is not really a good way to earn bitcoin IMO.
290  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcointalk on: July 30, 2014, 09:43:43 PM
Hello,

The After Hours Flowers has just implemented Coinbase to accept payment in Bitcoin!

We are excited to become a part of this community and hope to learn a great deal from everyone.

Thanks for being here and we hope to hear from you soon!

Welcome to bitcointalk.
Where is the link to your site?  Huh

EDIT: Okay I found the link in your profile page, but you should include the link in your OP as well. Good luck with your business. Smiley
291  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Easiest Way to send and purchase bitcoin, fast! on: July 30, 2014, 09:39:48 PM
This is so obvious that no one should be stupid enough to fall in it.
OP you really need to try harder next time if you want to scam us lol.
292  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Completely new Would like help on: July 30, 2014, 09:31:46 PM
Forget mining as a profitable investment, you will only lose money and time.
Buy bitcoins directly if you want to have some profit, or if you want to play with small amounts of money just try cloudmining for a couple of days.

But there are people who'd like to understand the workings of bitcoin and like to get their hands on actual ASIC devices. If you like to do that, you may just give it a shot. And who knows, if you have access to very cheap electricity, you might just ROI Wink

True. If OP is buying a small cheap miner for fun or for learning about bitcoin mining, it is definitely fine.
But since the price ($ per GH/s) of those small miner is usually pretty high, I don't think it has a chance to get profit even for free electricity. Smiley
293  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbie here on: July 30, 2014, 09:19:43 PM
(3rd attempt at posting this. gotta love the 5 min forced delay)

It is indeed a 6 min (360s) limit.
But no worries, it will be just 75s when you get 15 activity (as soon as next Tuesday). Smiley
294  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin. Is. Awesome! on: July 30, 2014, 09:15:49 PM
I've been lurking for a long time and figured I would finally post Wink

I have got to say that Bitcoin is totally awesome! I just purchased some bits and hosting all from my Nexus 5! The even more awesomer thing? I didn't have to enter any personal information! (Well, not entirely true: I did at Coinbase so I can buy bits instantly Smiley)

Anyway, thanks for creating this wonderful community.

Congrats, bitcoin IS awesome. I'm sure you're aware, but try not to keep all your bitcoin savings in coinbase. Move them somewhere safer like a cold wallet. Smiley

I'm using bitstamp to store my savings (less than 1 btc Cheesy ), do you think I should move them to a local wallet?

Hell yes! Never trust an online web wallet with any high amount of money.

I'm trying to install bitcoin-qt too but it's syncing from yesterday.

Well, you should have use the bootstrap torrent to download the blockchain at a faster rate.
But since it has been syncing for a day already, I guess it is almost done now...
295  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin/Litecoin Mining Hardware Investment on: July 30, 2014, 09:11:42 PM
Hey Everyone!

Total newbie here.  I've been checking out the forums and I still have a few questions.  I've read that bitcoin/litecoin mining on laptops is a completely stupid move.  That being said, if I invested in some bitcoin or litecoin mining hardware & ran it on my laptop would it still destroy my computer?  If so, why?  Does it have to do with how much power my laptop can generate or its basic internal graphics card?

Likewise, would it be wiser to invest in litecoin mining hardware considering that I am getting into the Bitcoin market so late?  (not that I'm diving into the Litecoin market at any better time)

Thanks!

If you want to mine bitcoin or litecoin, you will need to buy a sha256 ASIC (for bitcoin) or scrypt ASIC (for litecoin). The profitability will depends on a number of different factors such as your electricity cost and the future difficulty increasing rate. Please make sure you have done some calculation on that before buying the equipment. Smiley
296  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: What should I do with over $4-5 worth in BTC? on: July 30, 2014, 09:00:37 PM

As for what to do with them, purchasing a game bundle might be worthwhile since you'll at least get some hours of enjoyment from them.  You could always go the gambling route, too.  Be aware, though, that you spent months trying to accumulate that coin.  Hopefully you can get some months of enjoyment back Smiley
Yeah, I purchased Mini Ninjas, along with other 3 games that may be good on the bundle, and it's awesome I will enjoy it. So the best option is to HODL them until another good Humble Bundle shows up XD. It will be worth, at least for me   Smiley

Hey, that's a completely different take on the situation than everyone else! You are actually proposing buying something that makes fun with the bitcoins rather than investing them somewhere! Kudos! Good thinking!

And it is indeed a very good idea.
Investing with that $5 won't give you much profit, but using it to buy some games could bring you days and weeks of fun. Cheesy

297  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Please tell me if my computer will be ok for mining or not on: July 30, 2014, 08:51:37 PM
Unless your computer looks like this...

I would forget about mining. As pictured above, bitcoin mines are now reaching industrial scale.

Where is that picture coming from? Which mining farm does it show and what's their hash rate? Looks mezmerizing Cheesy
It is from a news which covered bitcoin. They actually went inside the mining datacenter. It is owned by megabigpower.com. They are located at north America and their hashrate should be about 6 PH.

That's pretty impressive! They could be best of by utilizing immersion cooling for their operation! But if they are located in Nothern America, I wonder if they're in Washington State. There are places where electricity is practically free. In that case they wouldn't even need to cut their costs by using immersion cooling!

You can find the news article (together with a video) on that the following page.

Just curious, did you read some very out-dated tutorial in bitcoin mining?

I wonder why all those sites haven't been updated in such a long time. There are still tutorials about GPU-mining and FPGAs are the latest craze! Also, BFL and Mt. Gox mentions everywhere.

someone googles it, they want the traffic..

You are right.
I just tried googling "buying bitcoin" and I am really surprised to see a site in page 1 still putting mtgox on the "top places" lol...
299  Other / Meta / Re: This is how you ERASE the BS TRUST on this forum on: July 30, 2014, 08:40:51 PM
Just trust who you want to trust.

True.

The problem isn't the trust system. It's DefaultTrust.

But a default trust list can help newbies to get a sense of others' trustworthiness when they have no idea who is to trust.
It may not be perfect, but it does help in that sense IMO.
300  Other / Meta / Re: theyrnos on: July 30, 2014, 08:08:55 PM
That's why I suggested this a while back:

Quite a few scammers are registering users very similar to those of admins or global mods and then ask for money via PM.
This could clearly differentiate whether a PM came from the forum, it's staff or theymos.

Just highlighting the message in the dropdown list would do the trick.

The only true protection against such people is to keep your common sense. These kind of trolling/impersonation is so awkward I really don't think anyone with more than 80 IQ will be fooled. And if you got caught it is your own fault.

While I agree that it shouldn't be hard to tell it is an impersonator, I see no problem in Cyrus' suggestion.
It shouldn't be hard to implement, and it offers an additional layer of protection to less attentive people. Smiley
