501  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Nowhere is safe? on: October 11, 2023, 01:51:20 PM
With hacks occurring more frequently these days, I would strongly emphasize the importance of security. Whether it's a decentralized exchange (DEX) or a centralized exchange (CEX), no one is immune. First, we witnessed the Mixin incident, and now it's Galxe. It's crucial for everyone to assess the security measures of any platform before entrusting their funds. We all bear the responsibility to conduct thorough research before investing our hard-earned money
I always suggest people not to keep extra funds on the platform, don't even keep them in a decentralized wallet if you use that wallet on a decentralized exchange because it takes no time for things to escalate if there is an attack or anything your address or wallet might get into the mix and that will obviously cost you a lot of money if you are keeping a substantial amount in your wallet. That's why, it's important to only use the assets that are being used for trading on a daily basis and keep others somewhere safe, maybe a hard wallet or something.

There have been several hacks and security breaches on exchange platforms in the past, and these things are happening more and more as we get into the future, the reason for that is obvious, hackers know that cryptocurrencies and trading are the hottest topics in the town right now, and if they get their hands into an exchange, they will surely get a good chunk from there.
502  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Common mistakes by unskilled traders on: October 10, 2023, 06:11:40 PM
Before entering a trade, an entry point and exit point must be spotted if you want to succeed.
Yes, but there is nothing wrong with improvising. One can always enter earlier and exit earlier as well or enter a bit late and also exit a bit late so that they can get their profit as well and don't miss the trade just because the price they were aiming for was missed for some reason.

Emotions like fear and greed can cloud our sense of reasoning and leads to impulsive action, just stay calm and stick to your plan.
That's true. A person who isn't emotionally stable shouldn't actually make any trades until they get a grip because decisions at such situations barely turn out to be good.

protect your capital, by using stop loss other, It minimize potential losses.
This is definitely one of the biggest mistakes a lot of new traders make. They don't use proper risk-management techniques and that causes them either losses or getting a part of their capital stuck in a single trade.

knowledge is key in trading , knowing the craft is very important, take your time to study the market, analyse chart pattern, and stay updated to news that can impact your trade.
Yep, people often make the mistake of entering the market without ample knowledge which makes their potential go in vain, no matter how much passion one has for trading if they aren't focused on gaining knowledge, they are compromising with their trading career which isn't good.
503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Need advice on getting merits on: October 10, 2023, 03:08:20 PM
Hi guys, I want to ask some tips on getting some merits. I somehow feel jealous when I see other full members having tons of it even if they're just new to the forum. I know that there are some ways to earn it like being active in your local board, engaging in the gambling threads talking about particular sports, create an informational thread, or have some deep knowledge about bitcoin's technical like block size, hash rate, etc. And that's my concern, I am not good with any of those stuffs. I am not a sports enthusiasts nor good in bitcoin technical. Our local board is not that active also compared to others where I see some members' their main merit source.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking my time to read my post. Cheers!  Smiley
Those who are replying without reading the whole thread should have a look at this post by FatFork to understand that OP is not as innocent as he may sound and we are basically wasting our time making suggestions to him on how he can earn Merits and grow an account that is basically ban evading since one of his alt accounts has been banned previously and he probably didn't appeal for that since he didn't want to reveal his other accounts and he instead decided to continue using this account thinking that people might not come to know.

@OP, it seems like you have got more serious things to think about before Merits. Smiley So it's basically useless for you to learn how you can earn Merits to grow the rank of your account when it will eventually get banned any time soon.
504  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trade only Bitcoin on: October 10, 2023, 06:39:34 AM
Trading is a lifetime skill that is always beneficial if you know what you are doing, the biggest mistake of traders is trading alt that most times doesn't obey market structure,
when it comes to cryptocurrency, trade only Bitcoin.
Bitcoin doesn't just give you profit, it gives you security, it obeys market structure, for the past 2yrs I have been trading, I only have losess only when I trading Alt, price action trading I utilize will trading always gives me result when trading Bitcoin, but when it comes to Alt I really do feel as if am gambling, so my fellow traders, trade only Bitcoin, I don't know if anyone feel the same way?
If we talk about lower risk of loss then I agree with you. Because bitcoin price volatility is much lower than altcoin volatility. But I personally rarely trade in Bitcoin. I just prefer doing DCA for long term investments in Bitcoin. Meanwhile, for trading, I do it more often in Altcoins. But I'm not an active trader. I only trade when I'm on holiday from work. But sometimes I also trade in Bitcoin and it seems you are right about not experiencing losses. Because I also feel that I have never experienced defeat when trading in Bitcoin. Because even when the price goes down I prefer not to let it go and wait for the price to go up again. In contrast to altcoins, when they experience a decline, I always release them because I'm afraid the price won't rise again. It's just that trading in bitcoin does have a slight advantage. But that equates to a lower risk.
The fact that altcoins don't go up once they get a decline doesn't really apply to all altcoins because there are altcoins that are good and they might get declines and then recover their price which provides a window for a day trader to make some profit if they buy at the right time when the price is down. However, this doesn't mean that all altcoins are safe, there can be altcoins where if you buy at the peak and it crashes, you might have to wait for a very long time before it goes back to that point again.

When you are trading in Bitcoin, you at least know that it won't crash severely all of a sudden, and you would also not worry if it faces a decline because history is the proof that Bitcoin has always recovered its price after some time of a decline which is why it's everyone's favorite in the market.
505  Economy / Economics / Re: What would you do in this situation? Invest or save? on: October 10, 2023, 05:44:15 AM
If you have plans to start a dream business that requires a capital of  $20,000 and you were able to make a savings of $15,000 which obviously isn't enough to start up the business, what would be your decision or advice?

1. Invest the $15,000 into a smaller business hoping that the returns will yield the remaining $15,000 in a short period. Note that this has the potential of failing and wasting the already-saved  $15,000.

2. Keep the $15,000 while doing other work that will yield the remaining money over a long period.

Would love to see your input or a better suggestion apart from the ones I pointed out above.

N/B
This is the typical situation a friend finds himself and we are just brainstorming in what best to do.
It totally depends on the situation and the condition of your friend at the moment. If he is doing okay, has a job that covers almost all the expenses he has, and can do a bit of saving every month, I would obviously suggest that he waits until he has the complete budget to start his dream business because he probably has been planning it for quite some time and when you do something that you are interested in, you put in all your efforts to make it successful.

However, if he is having difficulties with his income and wants to do something of his own as soon as possible, maybe he should go with option one where he would start a smaller business until he earns enough to start his dream business but that would obviously take more time, and it also depends if he has enough confidence that he can actually do something that will earn him money and won't waste his savings on it without getting anything.
506  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the future of cryptocurrency?? on: October 09, 2023, 08:50:42 PM
The future of cryptocurrency is in your hand, because crypto has been created for future financial services, which one have as a digital assets, therefore, it is the best time to invest on cryptocurrency market as market is on bearish.
There is something else that I would like to let you know about before I get into the topic, you are one of the laziest people that I've ever seen in my life, I mean you started a thread but didn't even bother to write something in the body, you could at least ask your question in details, you should have added your own points and then asked the community to come and discuss it. Only a very lazy person can think of creating a thread or topic this way.

Getting back to the topic, the future of cryptocurrencies is basically a mystery that is unknown to anyone. However, the way we see Bitcoin gaining popularity and fame and getting adopted all around the globe, it seems like the future will be pretty good for cryptocurrencies as they manage to get a lot of hype, and people are slowly falling in love with them.
507  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: One seed, One casino game. Superstitious or Not? on: October 09, 2023, 07:26:16 PM
I was kind of curious about it so I want to ask the gamblers here.
Do you use the same method? One seed, one game?
Is this just some kind of a superstitious belief or is it really working?

You probably mean client seed that's used in provable fair system. There are casinos that force you to change your seeds once in a while, for example Bitsler does that. I have tried to frequently gamble with one seed for about a week and then I tried changing seeds 3-4 times a day for about a week and what I can tell you is that I still lost and didn't notice any improvement in outcome from bet.
By the way, games are purely based on luck and it doesn't matter whether you change your seeds or not, it doesn't increase your winning chance.
That is what I thought. Before I didn't believe on it but others keep on talking about the same shit so eventually I tried it and see if it's like a magical tool to make me win at all times but like you said, the results are still the same. Other users in the thread said that it was coincidence, that might be right and others are holding on that false promise.

Maybe there are some who stick on using the same seed because they think it's cool, to the fact that you can modify it and add some goofy words and characters. That person the OP is referring to is crazy. He thinks someone will steal his holy seed lol but we don't know if he is using the same seed for all of his games or not.
508  Economy / Economics / Re: You can't meet all your needs/desires at once, even if you spend all your salary on: October 09, 2023, 06:56:24 PM
Most of the well earners that are still enjoying their adulthood don't still prioritize investment because they prefer to clubbing, drinking with friends, partying, and other easy go lucky activities, because they are thinking that they only live once, and they can afford it, they can earn it again.

They don't care about their future, the backfire of their activities that don't secure themselves in the future, no savings, no emergency funds, just flexing their salary through social medias and by treating their friends every single time.
That's not what everyone does, it's just some people that spend everything they earn and don't keep anything for the future or make any investments to make their and their family's future secure, or maybe they don't have a family to think of and that is the reason why they are free of all sorts of tensions about the future and everything. However, one should still at least have some savings or make some investments for their future because it doesn't take much time for things to escalate.

I don't consider enjoying life a bad thing, and I also believe that one should live to the fullest if one can afford to do so, but that doesn't mean that one should forget about the future, what if they don't earn that much in the coming months and then need some money? They will be in a lot of trouble if they haven't saved anything by that time.
509  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the future of cryptocurrency?? on: October 08, 2023, 06:33:49 PM
Let me know!
in my opinion, there will be many companies that accept cryptocurrency as a payment and of course cryptocurrency will also become a legal currency, but of course in the future regulations regarding cryptocurrency will become more numerous and stricter, so there will only be a few cryptocurrency that can survive and I only recommend you to investing in Bitcoin for the long-term investment (safer and will definitely survive in the future).
In fact, what you are saying is already happening. What can happen later on is only an addition. When it comes to crypto being a legal currency or a legal tender, there are only a few countries who does that now. This is where the people are excited at. Let see if it's possible that many countries will join the union. As for the regulation, this is true. A lot of them are now happening.

I think the impact isn't totally bad because some people thinks they are now more secure than ever. Only those cryptos that can be affected mostly by it are the privacy coins but I wouldn't worry since their numbers are only less. BTC is the best crypto so far but let's admit it, we can't see the future and we don't know if it can continue like this forever.
510  Economy / Speculation / Re: Even Seasoned Analysts Can Get it Wrong on: October 08, 2023, 05:59:42 PM
~snip~
my guess is we are close to fall of of 2015 which means a sharp upstake of around 30% over the next 30 days.!
That would be a very nice jump to about $35k+ from the current price, so even though nothing is impossible when it comes to BTC, somehow it seems to me that without some super good news, something like that is not really realistic to expect. I remember 2015 and the price of BTC, which was just a little over $200 that year (at least for a good part of the year), and that 30% then and today is not even close to the same.

Given that we have been between $25k and $30k for a long time, every jump in price results in increased sales, considering that everyone is looking for any profit, and we saw that a few days ago when we crossed $28k and quickly went back.
News is only one factor that can affect the price. Other factors can still occur so we shouldn't lose our hope. Past is past as they say. Even though same past price can repeat sometimes, there will be a time where it doesn't. So, we shouldn't fully rely on patterns but we should also create different strategies or back-ups so that we can still be able to profit once the other fails. Price moves based on the demand and supply.

Obviously when the price rise, the sale also increases. Everyone who invest in BTC wants to earn a profit but not all are selling early. The price dump last time can be caused by other factors and not really because the majority is selling for profit.
511  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Is a 20% Annual Return good ? on: October 08, 2023, 05:23:14 PM
What if your predictive model doesn't go as you expected if your historical data doesn't match up with the current data, have thought of what will happen as we progress? What if bull run never comes as we approach halving? Have you tested it? I would love your swift answer because it is even better for you to test your model before even making assumptions on the 20% annual tool, you should consider what will happened if this doesn't go as plan, the back up plan except you want people to come after you if it doesn't go as plan.

Another thing is, when I see any return on investment that exceed 5% in crypto is nothing but hype that is scam or will definitely end up as scam, if 20% is a good return, why don't you improve the model and make it work for only you, if you can prove that your model works in trading, there are plenty of loans to push the project to where objective and aims tell you to achieve.

I will tell you for free, 20% is too high.  Shocked
Yes, he should have created a back up plan because in cryptos, everything here is unexpected even though 20 percent looks realistic for an annual or yearly return, especially if the strategy is a good one. Some past price movements may not repeat again but when it comes to the halving I think it is always followed or there will always be a bull run that can happen after it.

5 percent is much lower than in 20 but it all depends on the source of the signals or strategies that we are getting because a scam can happen no matter what is the values they are presenting. If he can't prove the credibility of this model, then I doubt even he himself will try it.
512  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: I lost my money due to an exchange error (I think) on: October 07, 2023, 08:15:01 PM
If this really ends up in loss of funds, sorry man. Meanwhile, just because it doesn’t show up in 90 mins doesnt meant that it’s lost. Sometimes these exchanges face network congestion where there are many transactions and their network gets slow. I’m not saying this is the case for you but it could be… Also, for example, a platform like Binance, they try to have the same address for a lot of blockchain (what if you weren’t wrong and the address you used can be used to receive a lot more currencies?). you’ll never know what actually happened until you reach out to support, so do so.
I think 90 minutes were actually long for USDT transactions, most especially for Arbitrum when the network is new and seems fast enough than the majority. Your explanation about the same address for a lot of Blockchain seems right because the OP also said that the address are the same to the BSC network.

I already encountered this even in some Ethereum coins/tokens, and Tron. So, maybe you are also right that there is only a delay or it's only a co-incidence that the exchange had some issues but it's scary on the part of the OP. To be more sure, he can also follow your advice of contacting the customer support. Rest assured that everything is fine in his side.
513  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Today in history: The first recorded Bitcoin exchange went live on: October 07, 2023, 07:22:04 PM
Not that I am interested very much with that exchange but I have a question, Is it still running up until now?. If it is then I think that's the oldest and running exchange until now just like freebitco.in. I don't know about their forum account though but as I have seen it where it is already inactive for a long time which is on december 5, 2012. So many things have happened in Bitcoin history like the price before compared to price today.
It is actually very interesting, in a sense that it was the first Bitcoin exchange. This deserves a lot of recognition and credits because without it, I don't think we can get what we have now. I searched the name of the exchange in Google and I clicked their domain name.

I was surprised that it was still accessible and they added some functions there including the NFT's. Here: https://newlibertystandard.io/exchange is the link BTW to the exchange. I noticed that the rates are still the same as what is seen here in the OP. Maybe we can try to contact them on their provided email and purchase a thousand of BTC for 1 dollar? Cheesy. You mentioned Freebitco there, but they are not an exchange. Rather they are just a faucet with some added gambling on the side. They aren't also the first in this category.
514  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why Is Bitcoin Price Increasing? on: October 07, 2023, 04:03:23 PM
It's impossible to know where bitcoin's bottom will be during this bear season, but we're probably so close to the bottom that waiting and not buying now is a really bad idea. Those who are still waiting for lower prices to buy will have to buy at higher prices because their greed is too great.
Furthermore, they will also be the ones who miss the opportunity to take profits during the bull season because they always want to buy at the lowest price and sell at the highest price. But they don't know that no one can know where is the bottom and what will be the highest price until everything passes.
We can never tell for sure when Bitcoin will "hit the bottom". That's because the crypto market is widely unpredictable. Too much volatility = too much risk. If you get in now, it's likely prices will further decline due to "bearish pressure". Or the opposite could happen where BTC goes all the way to the moon in an instant.

Regardless of what happens with Bitcoin's price in the future, I know for certain that the cryptocurrency won't be going anywhere soon. That's because of its tried-and-tested Blockchain network with decentralization in mind. If BTC got this far, it's likely it will last for generations. Just use it as a currency and forget about the rest. Wink
One can't really forget about the rest even if they are using it only as a currency because you will surely be worried if you see that your wealth is decreasing over time because that is what happens when Bitcoin's price starts going down, if you have $20,000 worth of Bitcoins when its priced $30,000, you will have $10,000 if it drops to $15,000 and that is obviously something to be worried about if you are using your Bitcoins as a currency.

So, volatility will always affect you whether you are using Bitcoin for an investment or as a currency for paying for goods and services in the real world, and one can't be tension-free as long as Bitcoin is going down, they might be able to forget about it if it continues to go up but that won't happen forever.
515  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: French Soccer League Predictions and Discussion Thread (Ligue 1) on: October 06, 2023, 07:19:04 PM
After a draw against a bottom team and also a heavy defeat in the Champions League, PSG will face Rennes on Sunday. This is not an easy match for PSG after two unpleasant results, especially in the last two meetings PSG lost to Rennes.
Looking at the odds on this betting market, it will be a very interesting match because both have the chance to win, especially Rennes who will benefit from playing as the home team.
Luiz Enrique must find a way to lift his team back to a better condition if they want to continue to maintain their chances of being title contenders, if they only get a draw it will only increase criticism of him and doubts that PSG can defend the Ligue 1 title this season.
No doubt PSG having one of the worst start of this season with three draws and one defeat from their first seven matches and only 12 points which keeping them at fifth spot but their recent humiliating defeat against Newcastle United create more problems for them and with this look like they need to change their strategy because if they keep going like this surely things could be can go into the worst way for them now they are going to face Rennes which is having no defeat in last seven games and at home they are giving impressive result but still PSG can steal the show and have good start after this big defeat because if they are not able to do these things could be in wrong way for them Mbappé performance is also going down with few new players are also not able to give their best as it's needed.
516  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: A matter of family conflict regarding Bitcoin. on: October 05, 2023, 07:48:35 PM
There are several options for resolving the dispute over investments in bitcoin:
- don't tell anyone about your BTC-investments until a certain point, even your wife or husband, in order to avoid influencing your investment strategy and the emergence of conflict situations due to the right moment of sale bitcoin.
- exchange your wife or husband for a person who will not interfere in your affairs with bitcoin, at least until you get rich and your beloved half wants to take half from you.Smiley

People will always blame anything but themselves for their problems. This time the accusation went to the bitcoin.
The problems blamed on others is the one thing I try to avoid in my own persona life. Even if it's obvious that I am not the one who did something wrong, I could still end up trying to figure out a way that I could live without needing something major, like even if someone else did something wrong to me, I could still sit down and think about why that happened, it doesn't have to be me that made the mistake, I could still find a reason why I couldn't avoid others making a mistake to me.

In this case, the investor should have been smarter about it, if you have a bad marraige and you want to hide your money, bitcoin isn't the way to go with all the KYC we are doing these days, it would come up eventually in divorce proceedings.
517  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you like Meme Coins (Pepes project)? on: October 05, 2023, 06:48:12 PM
I don't like the MEME coins, because most of them cannot live over 5-10 years.
The thing about meme coins is that their lifespan is either very short or very long, but when their lifespan is long (take DOGE as an example), they don't really keep going up all the time because their nature is that they only go up in price if they are hyped by the community and they get a lot of investments which obviously doesn't happen all the time and people only get excited and invest at their initial stages and as soon as they start crashing everyone sell and exit expect for a few who get stuck.

So, you can't really expect a meme coin to live very long if it's not getting any hype, and even if it manages to live long, don't expect it to magically hit another all-time high after the initial hype it might have gotten because meme coins don't have any organic growth just like other normal cryptocurrencies.
518  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 05, 2023, 04:44:50 PM
The seating arrangement is more than 130k which is why the stadium seems empty. I am watching the match on Hotstar and I can see 44L showing up now. People are crazy about T20 cricket only a few like you and I are the ones who watch ODI. Watching the way England spinners are getting whacked for 4 and 6, I do not agree with your analysis. It is all about captaincy and discipline when it comes to bowling. Might as well say, what a fantastic debut by Ravindra.
Yeah, that's why i said "Obvious reasons". Also, i heard that for this particular opening match. BCCI gave 20k free tickets to women and kids and still, it's not even half full. Tells you a lot about the current situation of cricket. It's an ICC tournament so every board has the responsibility to create hype in their respective countries so that fans can travel and support their teams. We can obviously make a list of why the opening match looking dull.

True, it does look like it. Surely smooth sailing for Kiwis against English spinners.
This was one of the worst start of this world cup because I have feeling mostly understand there is no India involved in this match so having this here is no good deal because even we have 30K fans but still this was looking empty which create big negative impact on this mega event around the globe.

BCCI and ICC needs to understand ground realities and having a match like this in a small ground could also work for them, and surely we have good atmosphere, but they have done poor things which are surely going to have negative impact.

Now tomorrow we are going to have same situation again while Pakistan will play against the Netherlands which is going to be another dull encounter between these two sides even now I have feeling mostly matches without India surely going to have same problem.
519  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Germany League - Bundesliga Prediction Thread on: October 04, 2023, 07:42:41 PM
I don't think bayern munich underestimated Copenhagen, but true is that, that is how games do look sometimes. It is not possible that team performances will be at the same level all the time, they will perform sometimes weakly and sometimes very strongly, so I don't think strong teams will be beating all other teams by many goals all the time
Actually, Bayern München did not give 100% to face Copenhagen because the difference in quality of play and experience was an obstacle for Copenhagen to match Bayern München's resistance. If Bayern München wanted, it is possible that they would do what Bayern München did when they met Barcelona who were silenced by a score of 8 -2 last year, so we can see that Bayern München didn't really want to play in that match because they were already certain that they would qualify for the last 16.
Many times we have games like these with big teams struggle against weaker sides to score goals and same happen in this match while Bayern Munich playing against Copenhagen after conceding goal in 56th minute they started their work and then score two goals which give them three points, and now they are having six points from two games.

I watch mostly Bayern Munich have different strategy against every team, so they were playing good against Copenhagen in this game, but tight defence from the host club not allowed them to have any threat to them which is good strategy from them but still at the end things gone in Bayern Munich favor because still they are the most lethal team in UEFA with having best attack.
520  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ICC WORLD CUP 2023 ACTUAL DISCUSSION THREAD! on: October 04, 2023, 03:31:56 PM
Heavy rains are predicted in cities such as Kolkata, Bengaluru and Guwahati for the next week or so, and this will definitely have an impact on the group stage matches in the world cup. These are unseasonal rains, but even then the scheduling of the world cup raised a few eyebrows even before the first ball was bowled in the warmup matches. I don't have any concern for the latter stages of the tournament, as the weather conditions are likely to improve from mid-October onwards. But the next 1-2 weeks may witness a lot of rain in India.
The rainy season is almost over but we are still seeing regular rainfall in several countries including India and Bangladesh. When the Asia Cup was held in Sri Lanka, two matches of India and Pakistan were abandoned due to rain, later in the series between Bangladesh and New Zealand we saw the first match abandoned due to rain and then the World Cup preparatory matches were abandoned due to rain. The Indian states of West Bengal, where the games are scheduled to take place, have the highest chance of rain. The beauty of this tournament would have been enhanced if the entire season had been rain-free. I don't like the results that the ICC determines in the law of rain.
Subcontinent is currently under serious raining weather and this all happening just because of climate change which is having too many changes around the globe, but we are serious under big threats just because of this currently even we have no raining season, but rains are hurting badly in this region floods and other problems are killing many and also creating problems for millions as well.

Hopefully we will have no too many interruptions in this World Cup like we have in Asia Cup but nothing is sure how things will be manageable because if we have rains then surely media can face huge loses and with this all many other problems are also can happen.

ICC can't do anything with this all because weather is not under any control, but they already have rules for this rains interrupted matches which will work in case of any interruption.
