901  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Little Bitcoin investment becoming something else on: April 25, 2023, 05:29:56 PM
Before going further i will appreciate if you read my previous post Stated " How I decided to buy some fractions of BTC after discussion with members". Since on February 2, 2023 I bought some fractions of bitcoin with just NGN33,000 then which was approximately 0.001848BTC in turns of NGN37,657 almost about NGN4,657 increase (profits) do you suggest I should hold or take profit?
Usually i don't know what the market may looks like in the next 1 months to come, I missed selling at $31k since I was thinking it will gets to 40k but the market keep scaring me and you know emotion is being attached to this so I have to run down here to seek the best opinion on what to do comparing my condition as young mother who needs money for my up keep, since i don't like bothering my husband for money so i believe i can make out something good from here.
Bitcoin is currently in a correction mode, so the price can go either way at any given time, the question that you are asking the community is something that only you should decide. The market is not very high at the moment, but it's not too low as well as in a correction, it can go even lower in the coming days, so it is up to you really.

If you think that you desperately need the money and since your assets are in profit, maybe you should sell them and use the money for your up keep as you said, but if you think you can manage otherwise, I would suggest you should wait for some time.
902  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2022/23 Season on: April 24, 2023, 07:01:32 PM
The management of the Juventus team now needs to think about the team in a big way. Because Juventus is a traditional team. Currently the condition of this team is very bad. After Di Maria joined the team, the team played some great matches but currently the performance is not very good.
I disagree, they are not as good as they hoped to be, but they are not terrible neither. They are third in the league, doing good so far and with their 15 points back then they could maybe reach second place soon as well.

Napoli had an outliner year so they will be champions for sure but that doesn't mean that Juventus had a bad season, they will be doing fine. After that's done, we have Europa, they were doing good there so far as well and who knows maybe they can even win that as well, they still have that chance. Combine these two together and we are talking about a great team and a great season. Can they do better? Possibly, but that doesn't mean that this season any worse than any other past two seasons, so I would say that they are still doing fine and not bad.
903  Economy / Gambling / Re: Without money, does it still qualify as gambling? on: April 24, 2023, 10:09:11 AM
Gambling is gambling

You can gamble with Your Life.

You can gamble with your house or cars.

You can gamble with anything valuable.

You can gamble with your crypto assets.

You can gamble with anything you want, it doesn't have to be money, and not using money to gamble doesn't make it less of a gamble, Prediction is also a gamble.
Whatever you mentioned are valuable things and if they are at stake, that's gambling. But how is that gambling if there is nothing at stake? If you say one spends their time, spending time on something doesn't make it gambling. It would only be considered gambling if you have something up at stake that you can lose if you lose.

A prediction where you have bet something that you can lose will be called gambling, not a prediction where nothing is up at stake. I don't consider myself gambling if I'm just normally predicting that a team will win a match but not making any bets with anyone.
904  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the price gets to $60k this year? on: April 24, 2023, 09:18:42 AM
(......)
But the question is; is it possible for bitcoin to reach $60k by this year? No serious bulls happening currently and if it continues in this little increase probably it will not get anywhere close to $60k. Share your views.
For me yes, I am very bullish for Bitcoin to be back at an all-time high this year. We are only 60% away from an all-time high and if you can see how Bitcoin pumped from $15,000 to $30,000, then from its current price to an all-time high, it's always possible.
And if you do always the analysis on the Bitcoin block halving, we see a huge bull market before the Bitcoin block halving event.
To be honest, halving is not a guarantee that the market will get into a bull cycle when it reaches around it, but it's just that in the past, the market used to go up from its current state when the halving happened. So it's better if we don't make that the only reason why Bitcoin would go into a bull run in the next year since there are a lot of other factors to consider as well.

The price right now is below $30k, so to reach $60k, we are not really 60% away but it's more than a 100% growth from here which isn't too small in my opinion. And we are yet to see if the price will go any deeper in this correction or not.
905  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nigeria continuous banning of crypto on: April 23, 2023, 03:45:51 PM
Despite efforts by the Nigerian government to outlaw the use of cryptocurrencies, we continue to rank among the countries that utilize them the most for a variety of trades and activities. The e-naira is insufficient to meet the expanding needs of online users because it only allows for the exchange of the currency that is currently in use in digital form. Other governments might be amenable to the cryptocurrency trend and adopt it lawfully, but they also make an effort to ensure that online police organizations assist in preventing a very nasty use of the cryptocurrency for other illegal or money-laundering operations.
Is Nigeria the first country to create its CBDC? I think the countries where the usage of cryptocurrencies is at a high rate are mostly trying to regulate the cryptocurrencies and any platforms that are directly or indirectly dealing with cryptocurrencies, and Nigeria is obviously one of them since there are a lot of users of cryptocurrencies.

Their efforts to crack down on every platform and to possibly regulate and if not possible, ban cryptocurrencies for the users so that the users turn to the CBDCs that they've created in order for them to keep an eye on everyone's finances.
906  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can Chat GTP destroy poker on-line gambling??? on: April 23, 2023, 03:12:10 PM
Reading another post, it crossed my mind that AIs and particularly ChatGPT could potentially be trained with a large samples of games played by poker champions and then put it to auto-play with amateur on-line players. If this is successful, it could mean the end of human on-line poker playing except perhaps for the world masters and the like. Has anyone tried? Would it be possible??
Looks like you wrote the title of the thread with a bit of a mistake buddy so it will make new users who don't understand it feel confused.

I'm not sure Al can be trained to play poker and used to beat online poker.
Al is just an artificial intelligence that we can't possibly rely on as a whole to make bets on a poker game found in online casinos.
Maybe this kind of idea is quite interesting because it can help and give hope to those who always experience defeat in every game.
But the question is, if indeed anyone can make Al in such a way as to beat online poker games, are they mostly gamblers able to adopt Al in order to be able to bet and win online poker?
No matter how hard one tries to create an AI model and train it with any data available on the internet to be able to be a winner in a gambling game, it's never going to succeed because gambling is a game of luck and there is no use of intelligence in the first place, whether there is an intelligent human being or a robot, it's never going to beat the house or another player unless they are lucky.

We understand that Poker is a game of skills as well, but that doesn't necessarily mean that an AI model will be able to master it and beat humans using the previously collected data of Poker hands that were won by experts.
907  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: April 22, 2023, 07:46:59 PM
These are very effective and in addition to this is "create a budget".
Creating a monthly budget that outlines your income and expenses.  This will give you a clear picture of your financial situation and help you plan your spending accordingly, and through your list, you can monitor your expenses which is prioritizing your needs over wants.  Make sure to allocate your income to necessary expenses before spending on discretionary items like dining out, shopping, or entertainment.
It's normal for us to create a shopping list when the items that we want to buy are not a few because there is a tendency that we can forget them if we will only memorize them. This is not enough if we are planning to save money because we can end up picking some more items if we found out that we still have a money left after totaling all the items in our cart. This must be the reason why there is a "Control your grocery list" in the OP's list to make saving more effective.

I freshly remember those old days when my grandma was alive and said, when you earned $5 a day, don't spend over that amount on a day, always keep $1 for future investment or set aside a portion of your income into a separate savings account to build an emergency fund that can cover unexpected expenses like medical bills.
Awe, that's sweet. Topics like this must have triggered your memory again with your granny, I feel sorry for you but we must move on and we must follow the advice that they gave to us if they want them to be happy wherever they are now.
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Where do you look for information about new project/coin? on: April 22, 2023, 06:39:00 PM
Yes, you can learn a lot from the project website. But it's good to find different sources of information when you want to invest in something. Also, it is good to know what people are talking about it through, e.g., social media.
I tend to agree but make sure the group is genuine.
I've done this before, I joined a bounty campaign such as social media and I followed the progress of the project but I saw in their social media don't have genuine members, there was no clear engagement and it should have been discussion engagement on their social media profiles.   Ask yourself, "are there active discussions and responses from the community, or is it just a one-way conversation?", and lastly, check if their followers and engagement are genuine or if they have purchased fake followers or engagement, same as Twitter or more worse Telegram.

So you must be careful also what you're following on social media.
Well, that has become a way for projects to show the newcomers to their project that they are actually active and got investors and users on their social platforms. For Twitter, they buy followers which is a straightforward way of showing that a project has got a community, but when it comes to Telegram, they have a different approach for that.

I know since I've seen and experienced it, some projects hire chatters that will stay active in the Telegram group and chat with each other just to show the investors or customers that the project is active.
909  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Question Of Thought About Crypto Winter on: April 22, 2023, 05:42:08 AM
Question of thought...

I made a research recently, i found out that Bitcoin reached nearly $19,500 in 2017 and later fell below $3,300 in 2018.
Source https://www.forbes.com/advisor/investing/cryptocurrency/what-is-crypto-winter/

1) would've other crypto's survived during that time ?.
2) Why do Bitcoin survive during crypto winter and other crypto's finds it difficult to cope ?.
Since there weren't as many cryptocurrencies back in 2018 as there are now, most of them survived the crash because there weren't this many shitcoins and useless projects at that time. Most of the coins that have been on the top along with Bitcoin survived though falling badly in price since Bitcoin had a very severe crash.

About why Bitcoin survives the crashes, it's mostly because there is a lot of money invested in it and as soon as it falls lower in value, there is higher buying pressure which basically backs it up and it manages to recover slowly from the crash every time.
910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are Meme Coins? on: April 21, 2023, 03:54:30 PM
There is nothing worse than buying memcoins on an unknown exchange. The risk of buying meme-coins is already high, and then some unknown exchange recommends to buy these very high-risk coins from them. Meme Coins are HYIP, pure and simple. I would not recommend to anyone to buy new memcoins, especially those which are listed only on decentralized and low liquidity exchanges, because they are more vulnerable to scam than others. DYOR.
Most of these coins never make it out of the exchange that they are initially listed at, whether it's a decentralized exchange or a new or not-so-famous centralized exchange which only a few thousand people use that has very low liquidity for every other coin or token except for the ones which are initially listed at their exchange.

The ones that get hyped too much, like Shiba, Doge, and a few more actually made it to every big exchange over time, not because they are good tokens/coins, but because they have a community that believes they will magically grow very high someday.
911  Economy / Speculation / Re: What about the little increase? on: April 20, 2023, 08:03:22 PM
Do you see the recent increase bitcoin has come up with. I believe this is good sign that bitcoin will pump this year, we are still in the third month, looking at the middle of the year, something will surely bulls up. When I open my wallet I was surprise of the price from $23000 to $26000 that's cool for those who buys recently.

What did you think about the price? Will it pump soon
Look what happened in the fourth month, after the end of the third month of bitcoin pumping fast, being at $ 30k is the most beautiful moment that Bitcoin has given investors. BTC's performance to reach $30k is a psychologically important number, however it has stalled a bit and is still unable to reach $31k.
According to analysis, the rise in Bitcoin is due to the dependence on liquidity decided by the Fed. Recently provided emergency incentives to banks in the United States that were having a liquidity emergency. After getting out of a sticky situation, Bitcoin's direction will become clearer and will show a bright spot for months to come.
If this year yes, $30k is the best as it's the highest price at the moment but there must be more to come so people can go back speculating for higher prices. Maybe the reason why we can't move outside $30k is the issue about the banks are now fixed? For a while maybe but later on, there might be more positive news that will come and that should trigger an increase again.

Last time, Fed did a major thing on moving the price to $30k but other than them, there might be bank customers who transfer in Bitcoin. They are finally convinced that Bitcoin is more safer than in banks. Other bank customer must not wait for another bank to collapse before they act.
912  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Signals vs Own Analysis on: April 20, 2023, 04:26:35 PM
This is very similar to sports betting. If you have more wins than losses, you can ensure that you'll be in profit. I'm talking about bankroll management, as it's also applicable in trading. However, the best way to be consistent in trading is to rely on our personal analysis, as that will help us grow, as opposed to just relying on signals from so-called experts.
You mentioned sports betting because I thought it also involves analysis but we can also base our predictions on other people, if we are not confident about ourselves. There are lots of posts here about it for free and there are also paid ones in the groups. In sports betting, it's okay if our losses is more than our wins because we still enjoy the game but I don't think it works the same here in trading.

Trading is not an enjoyable act but making a profit can at least forget our hardships. Bankroll management is important because both acts (trading and sports betting) can trigger our emotion. When we are losing we tend to bet more than usual but the same goes when we are winning.
913  Economy / Economics / Re: Why America Can Be The Biggest Economy In The World? on: April 20, 2023, 03:46:39 PM
It mostly depends on the citizens behavior to work hard, want to get rich and anything related with financial. The government need to work and being transparent, if they're keep corrupting and not want to make their country developed, in the end only few people are rich and most people are poor, which make the economy on that's country isn't good in general.
I heard that in America, people there can choose to not work and they are still being supported by their government. So why is this country still rich? That is because their government is great. However, being a rich individual does not depend on the government but it depends on the individual on what measures they want to do in order to achieve it. There are so many ways that we can do and if we think our economy is badly beaten up, we can always migrate to the other country. Many people are doing this and they successfully change their lives now.

if Biden don't happy with it and will try anything to beat China, America can still become the biggest economy in the world because they might threaten China with their military power or cut/restrict China's expedition.
No country wants to be overtaken by the other. America is also strong so they can always fight back and even destroy China.
914  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is your take on the pump coming? on: April 19, 2023, 03:41:31 PM
I predict bitcoin can hit $40k or more this year. But I will agree with you that there will not be a complete pump or a new ATH this year, what we are seeing is just a small uptrend, not a real bull season coming. We are still quite far from the halving so we cannot expect a big pump to occur.
Many people were too hasty and caught off guard when they saw bitcoin skyrocketing.
$40k is easy because we are already on $30k. Maybe $60k or more is possible this year. This is only our what if's but the price can still exceed with it. To reach $30k is not easy and I don't consider this as small but it's almost half of the price we started this year which was $17k. Halving is not far. You only think it is, but time flies so fast lately. With or without halving, it is still possible for a big pump or a bull run to occur. See what happened on the past? But, it has already been a tradition for the crypto people that whenever there is a new halving there will also be a Good increase that will happen.

They also forget that the bearish cycle lasts 4 years, and we're only halfway there.
4 years? That's too long but I never see it in the history of cryptos. Maybe you only confuse it with the halving which occurs every 4 years.
915  Economy / Economics / Re: Bans on crypto now looks like a joke on: April 19, 2023, 03:11:30 PM
Banning crypto is no joke! It is true that cryptos can't be banned through a legal provision, but a government can take extreme measure to make cryptos irrelevant in their country.

Also US has started taking some harsh measures against crypto companies. Apparantly they will not ban crypto entirely but they would want to regulate the crypto market in their country.
The OP thinks it was a joke because lots of Chinese can still use a crypto. I'm not only sure if it's true because China is a strict country and for sure they also ban VPN and similar tools or ways to bypass the restriction being applied. Then they prepare tough penalties for the person to discourage accessing cryptos illegally.

China has been doing that since the inception of ICOs but they haven't yet gone to extreme.
I first heard ICOs on 2017 and I think it did also peak during that year. So it's been 6 years already ever since they ban it. China prolly started banning ICOs because of the rampant scams and then they move on later on banning Bitcoin mining because they believe on those environmentalists. The last thing that they ban is Bitcoin and other standard cryptos. Won't you consider that extreme?
916  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: We are about to enter altcoin season, what do you think? on: April 19, 2023, 02:33:59 PM
Bitcoin and Ethereum are not targets during altcoins season, they mostly move slower and altcoins triggered the massive pumping. Waiting patiently for altcoins season, it a definitely going to appreciate able to see our portfolio pump more harder as never before, this is the time to stack enough prominence altcoins because when the bull comes, we might not have a chance to meetup the high demand of the market. Some traders mostly wait for the bull season, and join the race, making them to be entrapped when altcoins starts dumping.
It is true with Bitcoin because it is not an altcoin but ETH is. ETH is the biggest altcoin and just like BTC where it leads the crypto bull run/season, ETH is also leading the altcoin season. In a normal market, BTC and alts may seem to move slower. That is because their value is already huge.

It's not easy to manipulate these coins anymore but cheap and newer altcoins can seem to pump higher than them especially when they are on hype but those gains are not long lasting and once they became big, their gains will also move slower like the older coins. Bull run is not permanent but it can immediately be replaced by a bear so those who missed buying can partake this time. Traders are pro so don't worry about. them. They have solutions for each type of market.
917  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction from $30K: Reason to worry? on: April 18, 2023, 07:45:20 PM
I'm not worried about the drop this time because I still believe bitcoin can go back to $30k and can even go higher. You should not need to analyze too deeply if you bought bitcoin at a low price yesterday and still want to hold bitcoin longer.

If you analyze bitcoin again, maybe you'll find something that can worry you even though it's not like that will happen later. This correction gives me more opportunities to buy bitcoin and maybe this correction will last for a few days or a week before the price can go up again.
This wasn't the first drop that we experience this year so why will we worry? We are in fact excited about it because we can be able to add more coins in our stash. We already experience $30k for a long time so some of us are bored on this price and want some actions again but they mostly want an increase more than the dips. The good thing about Bitcoin is that it was like a ball. It just bounce after a fall.

It can go high because we are not yet in the real bull run. Bitcoin investing doesn't need analysis, this is why it's the most newbie-friendly crypto. If an analysis can trigger worrying, then we better avoid it because it can only ruin our plans. It's often said that emotions is our worse enemy when dealing with cryptos.
918  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin has no use case" on: April 18, 2023, 03:41:41 PM
Bitcoin began as a controversial digital currency
This is a misleading assumption.
Why is bitcoin called a controversial currency? Just because the government doesn't agree with its decentralization?
In my opinion, that's not misleading nor it's an assumption, but bitcoin was quite controversial initially, and it's not only about the government and how they didn't agree with its decentralized nature and didn't want it to succeed since they knew it promotes privacy, but it was because the mainstream media used to show a very negative aspect of Bitcoin to the world, and ironically, most people used to believe what they used to say.

It was called names such as a criminal currency, a bubble, and even considered useless at one point, and that was when there was very less adoption, I remember there used to be very less people even knowing about Bitcoin, using it was a very far thing for them.
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: New L1 and L2 chains launching in 2023 on: April 18, 2023, 05:40:30 AM
Yes there are lots of these chains coming out because nobody wants to use ETH because transactions are expensive and nobody wants to use CEX because of what happened to FTX.

So Defi is definitely the future and hence why these chains are being developed. The issue is that they are rushed and have lots of bugs. Even a few days ago Sushi swap had a bug and over $3M was stolen. And it will get worse with these new chains and smart contracts if they are all badly coded and rushed for launched.

I wouldn't say 'nobody', cos it's exactly why fees are high because a lot of people wants to use Ethereum but then it prices out the little guys, so it gave the rise to L2's.

Right now Arbitrum is the best L2 for Ethereum and from a trading perspective, might be the leveraged bet for ETH.  And in turn the projects that received the biggest airdops of ARB could be the leveraged bet for Arbitrum.  Not sure if I'm right but it's something to look out for.  Wink
That was before but after the fees surge, people are now fleeing from Ethereum but there are still a few people who stayed because they are a die-hard supporter of this coin. Arbitrum is new and it was still on hype but it will be like the others later on. When more people use them, they can experience an issue and there will be another alternative that will be created after that. This is a never-ending loop here in crypto.

Leverage bet/trade is very risky so you might be right that users of this function are the ones who get the highest airdrop amount from ARB. They deserved that but I doubt if all of them are earning a nice profit out of the airdrop.
920  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is money ruling the world? on: April 17, 2023, 06:49:23 PM
Money can't be measured to anything in the world apart from  life and good health, like they say money is the root of all evil that because people can go any mile just to get money, we saw Judas Iscariot betray our lord and saviour because of money, so money is as powerful as it is because money answers all things there is nothing apart from life that money cannot buy, growing up you will have big dreams but without money those dreams won't be achieved, Those who have this money rules the world, because when dey get to speak the whole world listens to them, but even the family members of a poor man won't be taken seriously, if the goal is not to make money then we won't even stress ourselves by going to school, trying to improve ourselves to get better because everything we do is to earn a living and earning a living is making money.
Of course it can be. Not all times money will matter and not all people are always hungry for money. These people can still leave happily and peacefully with no or less money on hand. The famous quote says that money is the root of all evil but some of us disagree with it.

It's not money but it was the human or their greedy attitude is the root of all evil. It's only sad that if you don't have a money, you will also look weak and unrespected. People should change that mindset they have. This world can be a better place if the authorities are going to treat everyone fairly and not based their judgment in money. Going to school is important to learn a knowledge. It's not only for the money.
