161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Differences between Golem (GNT) and iEx.ec (RLC) on: May 09, 2017, 12:34:07 AM

Twenty times difference! Only watching trades of that day. But tells you the first is hot, the second not .. so much.
Well RLC is on Trex but not on Polo. If RLC was on Polo I'm sure the volume would be a lot higher.

Since my advice goes mostly into the direction of distributing the resources onto more than one single egg inside the whole basket: Buy 70% Golem, 30% iEx.ec and keep watching GRC Gridcoin again.

Hmm...maybe. Though I think RLC has more chance of going up 5 times than Golem, but it probably needs to be added to Polo to do that.
Mind you these things are hard to predict...haha  Smiley
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Not for profit blockchains? on: May 06, 2017, 05:19:09 AM
What is happening in this space?

Do we need some kind of economic incentive in order to keep a blockchain secure?
163  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10000 PIVX STOLEN on: May 04, 2017, 04:29:21 AM
Use (offline) random string generator for passwords, then store passwords into a password manager program, back up password manager file in zero-knowledge cloud storage.  This way you never type in your passwords even once.

EDIT: I know this doesn't help you get your funds back, and you most likely won't be able to.  Unfortunately, you may just have to treat this as an expensive lesson that your crypto security practices were insufficient.
Can you recommend a good password manager program?

And how does one back up passwords in zero-knowledge cloud storage?

Thanks
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: 10000 PIVX STOLEN on: May 04, 2017, 04:24:37 AM
Hello, yesterday 10000 pivx were stolen from my encrypted wallet. My computer knowledge is good I have removed malware and viruses from hundreds of computers as I did it for a job for few years. Is it possible that I have been hacked is for someone to send me a key logger and then transfer my PIVX wallet.dat to their computer and then transfer funds out?
I think so, With your PIVX wallet.dat someone being able to open your wallet.
But in my opinion, if your desktop gets infected by the keylogger or another malware.

At the time of the transaction I was setting up the masternode and asked for help on slack. Maybe someone from pivx slack saw my post hacked me?
My thought if that's a correct assumption.

I will give a reward to anyone who can help with the discovery of my stolen coins

I'm sorry, but no one can help you in this case. Your amount successfully funded to the hacker's account.

Looks he was successful to infiltrate another desktop.
Regarding his transaction history.

How could someone hack your computer just because you were on clack getting help?
165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Coins that use distributed Byzantine Fault Tolerance? on: May 04, 2017, 04:20:46 AM
Which coins use dBFT?

I know Antshares does...what are the others?
166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LIST - Projects with terrible initial distribution - highly manipulated schemes on: May 04, 2017, 01:33:04 AM
RLC - another Insta ICO - do your own dd

RLC seems fine. They clearly let everyone know the time well in advance. Everyone had 3 hours to buy. I'm in Australia and it was inconvenient for me to wait for that time and I did.
I think that anyone who wanted to had a fair chance to buy.
It's no surprise it sold out though. They have a great team and have been working on this for many years

This project is open to gross manipulation and market making.
Why?

Quote
This is a trustless arena we are trying to create. Ico's of this nature have zero place here. If the distribution is wide open for manipulation and market making then it is unacceptable and very likely a self enrichment scheme for the insiders and devs.
How was the distribution wide open for manipulation? Didn't it sit there for three hours, giving all a chance?

I can understand why it went so fast. the team is very impressive. the lead dev has ...

co-authored more than 80 peer-reviewed scientific papers and won two Best Paper awards.

At the time of the ICO Golem was around the $100M mark, so this project got snapped up quickly at a much lower valuation, but it still sat there for a few hours.

https://blog.sia.tech/want-to-deflate-the-token-bubble-fix-the-market-cap-indicator-d50f7f1e1ec4

Quote
The token world is getting crazy, but last week’s Gnosis ICO pushed us over the edge. Gnosis investors bought up approximately 4.2% of the total GNO token supply for $12.5 million (250,000 ETH), giving the project a market capitalization of $298 million (as of April 24).
To be clear: this means ICO investors valued Gnosis — an unproven platform that is yet to be launched — at about $300 million. Moreover, the GNO token does not have any actual purpose except to exchange for WIZ tokens at some point in the future.
We at Sia feel that this ICO insanity cannot continue in its current form — something must give. If the bubble bursts, it will inflict damage on every token, including those that are most reputable.
Many in the community want to slow and eventually stop this trend. We think that, while investors are by no means rational, they need access to the best possible information in order to make informed decisions. However, it is clear that investors are completely misvaluing most tokens. So what gives?
Our hypothesis: the market cap indicator is highly flawed.
Market cap is so powerful because it allows investors to quickly assess total valuation of an asset. A flawed market cap calculation means that investors are not able to properly value a token without doing extensive research.
There are two major inputs to market cap: total supply, which is required to properly calculate present market cap, and inflation, which can be used to predict future total supply and therefore future market cap.

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but doesn't JL777 or Supernet have 2 million heat?

Surely they could assist with  Trex listing? At least to help the team know what to do.

HEAT is the most undervalued.
171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is ICONOMI project's goal really attainable in the current crypto scenario? on: April 22, 2017, 01:58:12 AM
I always thought crypto markets were not mature enough for Iconomi, so I didn't participate in the ICO. Then I watched it go up and up.
So I think that tells you something about crypto markets.

Or it might just tell you something about me  Grin
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][RLC] iEx.ec blockchain-based distributed cloud announces its Crowdsale on: April 19, 2017, 04:38:54 AM
Is there a link we can go to to participate in the crowdsale? Huh

I have opened this page...but can't see how to participate. Huh

Hi...has anyone used the Electrum portable wallet for windows?
I downloaded it but can't seem to get it to connect. Huh

Knowing me it is probably something very simple......any ideas?
174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: is there any story about butterin ethereum stole Nick Szabo smart contract idea? on: April 14, 2017, 07:15:04 AM
Is Nick unhappy about that?

Szabo mentioned a hack on US financial institution JP Morgan which is currently in the news, and which allegedly earned the perpetrators more than $US100 million (£66 million), as a modern example of the dangers centralisation poses. Cryptography — “and in particular Ethereum” — helps solve that.

175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: April 14, 2017, 02:26:19 AM
Hi Stratis people.

What sort of hardware will be needed to host a MasterNode?

I wonder the same thing, I hope we just need a wallet like POS wallet, mint coins while decrypting the wallet. But maybe we need a virtual server, I hope not this scheme. Because 250k Strat costs a lot already.

I am wondering because I think there was an incident where Dash MasterNodes were attacked, and IIRC one of the things that came out of it was that one needed hardware that was of some quality in order to host one effectively.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Quantum computing resistant coins? on: April 14, 2017, 01:51:48 AM

I built Nexus with 1024 bit SHA3 and sect571r1 ECC for the greatest quantum resistance. Higher bit length is exponential increase in security.

Thank You,
Viz.
You are the creator of Nexus?

Stewie must be have a mental breakdown from all this,
200+ hours of trolling + selling out of his position,
Meanwhile Heat  secured a deal with a bank, & price on the verge of breaking out.
I am sure its over ICO price atm.

Heat secured a deal with a bank??
Apparently they will be working with abn amro. Idk to what extent but abn has a mkt cap of 6 bill. Seems like a couple startups were selected. Heat was one of them.

Yes, this is good news but there isn't any more info.
Hmmm ABNAMRO is good though. I wonder who the other projects are. Gulden is run by Dutch people and so is I/O coin. Both of those are good solid projects.
I think all banks are curious about blockchains but I'm not sure what will come of it, as, to my mind bloackchains are for us, not them  Smiley I don't see how they will sort out the private/public issue
179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: April 05, 2017, 06:33:48 PM
 It's probably going higher but I finally sold a few.maybe 25%..

I'm glad I've held most of my Stratis. Mind you a lot of coins seem to be going up ATM
