21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 27, 2017, 02:11:05 AM
Hi guys, is there anything in the pipeline that justifies another huge price push?

Not really, nothing verifiable, only the lame fish story.

I don't think the fish story is lame. That sort of business is the kind of business that could really benefit from blockchain.
I imagine in years to come a great variety of businesses will use blockchain technology. We can't predict the future but Stratis is in a great position to build what businesses will want.

Ok but are you closely collaborating with businesses already to see whether what you build is really what they might want?
I'm not from the Stratis team . I have no idea what they are doing. I presume there would be many many companies interested in blockchain technology and thus many companies happy to talk to Stratis or other projects. I have no information about whether Stratis is talking to anyone.
I know they got their first partner and I think it makes a lot of sense for a fishing business to use blockchain.

It is important to know where a fish was caught and when it was caught. Regulators will be quite interested in these issues too. So a block chain makes a perfect fit

Can anyone give any insight into why Stratis was chosen for the base?

i heard that the hard cap is $100m
Do you remember where you heard that?

Can anybody confirm if Stratis is indeed being added to the Korean exchanges? Price is going up very nicely as if there are people who know something that is not yet official.
I think all we know is that they have spoken to some Korean exchanges. That may not mean much at all.
However Stratis has a history of strong volume so I'd guess that exchanges would want it
28  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 23, 2017, 07:19:47 AM
You're still not making any sense. So which account(s) am I linked to exactly? Am I embarrassed about it or am I bringing attention to it? You should do some more "forensic" work and really nail me down.

The simple fact is, I heard about ICO investors losing significant holdings because of confusion / spell correction between STRAT and START. I thought it would be justified to try and resolve it. Krushang said he was working on it, but never responded, so I kept beating the drum. Finally I went to the Slack as someone here suggested, and they were surprisingly furious at the mere suggestion of reversing the transactions (in a safe way). So I gave up on it.

But I spent enough time reading posts in here that I'm still interested. It's that simple.

You can keep saying whatever you want and so will I. Your poorly reasoned accusations don't bother me in the least.

Man are you still here trying to get the Stratis team to resolve someone elses mistake?  Are you some sort of Crypto superhero, here to save the day? They f'd up by not verifying the address.  They should of sent the ICO tokens to their Stratis wallet instead of an exchange and none of this mess would of happened.  The team is better off spending their time on developments.  End of story.

I have to stare at my ARK wallet everyday that holds a SIGNIFICANT amount that I can do nothing with since I wrote down the password wrong. I've spent atleast over 100 hours trying different passwords, caps lock, spaces, etc. That's nobody's fault but my own and I accepted that.
If you know most of the characters would it be possible to crack it with some software? After all, there must be a greatly reduced number of possibilities.

I have been buying crypto coins for 4 years. I have done very well. I like heat. It's cheap considering the potential.
Mind you it's high risk so I haven't invested any thing I'm not prepared to lose. But I like it

The thing that makes me most bearish about Stratis is that (as usual) if you go to tradingview.com every single piece of analysis is super bullish Smiley

Here is my current favorite. The "bat chart"....m'eh it'll probably come true Smiley

Any ideas why STRAT is going down? Seams quite unfair considering all the hard work that the development team has put in the last year or so.

The proceeds for a mainnet release of Breeze are unknown, no indication of when it will come out.
Everybody is waiting for them to deliver on their roadmap now.
I'm not waiting. I'm quite happy with the progress

The short answer is that it is in a downtrend and trends are very powerful. But that is only compared to Bitcoin which has been on a tear. It only peaked in term of Bitcoin less that three months ago.

In USD dollar terms we have possibly already seen the bottom. It possibly bottomed out at about $2.88 USD on July 17.

So in USD terms it has almost doubled in  just over one month.

It BTC terms it has been going sideways for nine days now, so the downtrend is not as strong as it was.

Doesn't anyone have a good place to try to get my head around what is coming up?  Huh
34  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 20, 2017, 10:01:22 AM
This is looking promising but there are some weird statements in your products.

1) you try to explain that doing a full node implementation in C# is a technology advancement " C++ skilled engineers are in short supply in the corporate world, which tends to prefer higher higher-level languages like C# or Java".
First, C# or JAVA are not higher level level languages compared to C#.
Did you mean "compared to C++" ?

I think you will find differences of opinion on which is "higher level", but both C++ and C# are considered "higher level" as far as I'm aware (though I'm no expert Smiley )

You can find some discussion here though no doubt there is more to it, and its an old discussion. Smiley

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/620778/is-c-sharp-a-high-level-language

Here is a newer discussion which should clear things up once and for all with the following comment ;P

I'd say Java and C# are about the same, but C++ is both lower and much higher level language than Java/C#

Something for everyone there.   Tongue
35  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Is there a good article that explains the upcoming fork/changes? on: August 20, 2017, 05:40:23 AM
Sorry if this has been gone over, but is there a good article (or thread even) that explains what is happening next with a fork or segwit?
36  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 20, 2017, 12:50:40 AM
All finer points aside, the overall opinion I have is that Stratis probably won't deliver on its promises - or if they do, it'll be too little, too late.

Then you are wrong...their work is outstanding and they already admitted they had a lot more work then they thought at the beginning. But the partnership is already telling us that this project will be fully developed at the end of this year, because the US customs demands that. Also the law firm which is involved in Stratis is a huge thing. You all are getting it wrong...they are doing all they can in a very secure way and on the legit way.

Read this post...and learn that they take this all very serious. yes, their roadmap is delayed...you are right...but you don't know what is happening behind the scene. And that is already huge.

https://amp.reddit.com/r/stratisplatform/comments/6ul6ta/stratis_more_than_meets_the_eye_to_earth_twine/

That is a good piece. It is so important that we take care of our oceans and our fish populations.

The US Borders and Customs department has mandated digital data records for importing seafood beginning on 1 January 2018. Information required includes the capturing entity, like authorization license number and vessel name and designation, the harvesting event, like location, date, and first landing, and importer, like the legal declaration, and importer name, will all presumably be stored on the blockchain.
37  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 19, 2017, 09:39:56 PM
One other thing... I honestly don't believe the claim that Ledger added Strat out of the goodness of their hearts (which was claimed at the time). I believe the integration was paid for, and passed off as "we're just so good that Ledger added us for free!" ...
Do you have any evidence for that. It sounds like you have gone from being too positive about the coin to the other extreme now, where you are seeing everything negatively.

Hi, thanks for your responses. I won't go over them all, 'cos you have your points and I have mine. I think it is safe to say that some people are getting disillusioned with this project now, and others are still on board.

All finer points aside, the overall opinion I have is that Stratis probably won't deliver on its promises - or if they do, it'll be too little, too late. I understand there will be people who believe different, and I might end up being wrong.

Well, we probably see things a little differently.
I think we are just at the beginning of businesses using blockchains and Stratis is one of the very few solutions in an area that could boom.
So I can't see how they could be too late. Too early maybe.  Smiley

Me?  I've sold most of mine but still have enough if it booms. I might buy some more are 100,000 sats. I think it just went too high too fast.
And the price correction just has to do with that, not with the project so much

38  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 19, 2017, 08:02:13 AM
Why did Stratis want anonymity?

Here is Jamie Dimon in early 2016 I think. "Bitcoin will be worthless"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hb3AWedkdwo

Yet not much more than a year later J.P. Morgan partnered with the ZCash team.

https://www.coindesk.com/jpmorgan-partners-zcash-team-add-enterprise-security/

Quote
The largest bank in the world has partnered with the makers of zcash to provide a new layer of privacy to the users of its enterprise-grade blockchain.

Chris Trew understood the importance of this, and so looked to provide a solution for Stratis customers.

However to optimise Tumblebit you can't have too many masternodes so they went for 250,000 Stratis per MN. Mind you Stratis was a lot lower when they hatched that idea
39  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 19, 2017, 07:46:04 AM

Now... I'm looking back. Stratis has just been a staking QT wallet, for most of this time. Like holding Blackcoin, but without all the hype/marketing. It seems like Chris just jumps on whatever bandwagon is fashionable, and claims Stratis will have that too.
Fro goodness sakes. Stratis is aiming to be a platform. A widely used platform. Why wouldn't they want add these features? Huh

Do you imagine they want to build a platform and not have them?

Quote
The Breeze wallet is looking good - don't get me wrong. But the only value it gives to Strat is the fact you need Strat for masternodes - a function which seemed to be tagged on during the masternode craze started by PivX.
I don't think so. It has to do with tumblebit and providing anonimity

Quote
And now Chris is saying there'll be an identity function to rival Civic's... it all seems a bit too bold, but not in a good way.
Again, why would they not...
1) want this available for their customers
2) want to have the best one?

Doesn't it make sense for them to do it? Huh

Quote
I get a sense that things are just being made up as they go along, and the value is driven by pure hype and promises.
Everytthing in crypto is driven by hopes and promises. This is an experiumental new technology. Stratis is one of the experiments. It might succeed it might not.
They signed up their first business. I think that was a great positive. There is little doubt that a blockchain can be a huge help in a business like fishing, where the chain of custody is so important

Quote
The fish thing... I'm undecided on. I guess it's a bit 'boring', and certainly doesn't align with the "we have all these great partnerships coming up!" hype. But it's better than nothing, I guess.
All successful endeavors start small...don't they?
How many other crypto coins have paying customer? Not many if any. Can you name one?

40  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: | STRATIS | The first blockchain developed for businesses |Full POS on: August 19, 2017, 07:33:55 AM
Stop taking the piss.

When they started, Masternodes and anon was a big thing, which it isn't anymore. It may even become a felony to use stuff like that, under rising regulation. Vendors could be obliged to provide backdoors for law enforcement. This might not fit in with the delusional points of view of most of your team members and cheer leaders, but its the truth, and you better face it, since you were starting as a strictly commercial project. Bad decisions, kind of a failure, but Chris probably has no choice without losing his main poster boys.
Anonymity is still going to be a huge thing for any business using blockchain technology, which is why JP Morgan were researching ZCash.
Do you really think there wont be a deal struck?
Do you really think blockchains will be used with no anonymity going forward?
This why Stratis explored this so they could provide this service to businesses who want to use this kind of distributed ledger.
Businesses will in the future be able to hide what they do from you and I, but not from the government...or are you imagining something else?   If so what are you imagining?
Chris Trew realised this. He realised that he would would need to provide that. Think about this from the point of view of a business.

Now this doesn't mean that Stratis will succeed or that the price will go up, but it explains what they are doing
