Yeah stop pretending to care about OPs question when you just hijacked the opportunity to rant about Dash: The only purpose of this sock puppet account.

The question was fully answered by me and my quotations.

/thread

I don't see where you answered my question.
What I am concerned about is this. Let's say Dash starts to become more popular and widely used. To the point where journalists and regulators look at it possibly. So as it getting more attention by this stage, people begin to ask about the early launch, and Evan at that point get's asked about it.
That could IMHO lead to problems
762  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A question about the release of Darkcoin/Dashcoin on: December 30, 2015, 08:55:38 PM
It is true once they see you succeed, they all come barking at you. Why don't you do some development instead of coming to forums? it is sad watching people hating because Dash doing something they couldn't even think of because IF they did they would already be having what Dash has instant transactions/Governance model/ two tier network, and more....really man do something instead of really just hating. I just invested on Dash and I already feeling the hate -,-

He asked a question about the early launch, and since the answer doesn't reflect well for dash, you are hand waving about jealousy and supposed innovations--honestly, I'd love to dig into dash's clumsy technology, but this hardly seems the time and place and there are plenty of threads that have outlined these failures, but I doubt you want to bring those issues to light.

I just don't get the hate, you obviously just don't like Dash and wish that Dash investors lose ALL their money so you can feel happy. But even if you say that I did my research and even asked questions and I knew about what's bad/good about Dash and Monero "since you support it and fanboying about it" at the end nor you or you're developers who are all about gambling with no development over a year here saying this coin is bad and that coin is bad...why don't you tell us why your'e great instead? what innovations have you created that I can actually compare you with Dash? and please just stop the hate i've seen you're history just now (•̀o•́)ง
For me it's not about hate. It's about whether Dash might ever become widely used. I think that for a coin to ever become widely used it will have to be squeaky clean. But I could be wrong.
763  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A question about the release of Darkcoin/Dashcoin on: December 30, 2015, 04:41:12 PM

Is this correct, or have I been misled?

If it is correct , did Evan Duffield ever explain why, the release time was moved?

Yes, this is correct.

And no, he never explained the early launch.

I'm just trying to think through what might happen if Dash ever tried to become well known or widely used. I imagine if it ever started to become widely used Evan would have to explain what went on

If you are trying to think this through, maybe it would help to actually read his account of events here:

https://dashdot.io/alpha/?page_id=118
Unfortunately that article doesn't deal with my questions.
That article just seems to be rather unsophisticated and amateurish promotional piece.

Dash was ninja mined by the dev himself.  I say good job to that.
Obviously it's good for them, but is it good for me?
766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / A question about the release of Darkcoin/Dashcoin on: December 30, 2015, 08:54:55 AM
I am a bit skeptical of Dash, but I've been wrong before and I could be wrong about Dash. So, I have a question.
IIUC when Darkcoin/Dash was first released Evan Duffield told people that mining would start at a certain time. However (and again this is my understanding and I could be wrong), Evan then went and issued it early with the result that miners who had believed it would be released as he had said missed the early mining stage when many (?) coins were released/mined.

Is this correct, or have I been misled?

If it is correct , did Evan Duffield ever explain why, the release time was moved?
767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strategies for dealing with trading bots? on: December 29, 2015, 06:30:17 AM
Didn't mean to take over your thread, lol.  But this is an interesting discussion.
Please, be my guest Smiley

I think that bots try to extract as much information as they can and use the information they consider useful. I also think most bots are probably neutral WRT direction (though some may be momentum driven).

My assumptions about bots

1. Neutral WRT direction. They like to be square.
2.They have a certain number of units they will buy or sell usually, which is a function of liquidity.
3.They are happy to bit 1 Satoshi more than me up to a level.
4.This level (i.e. the amount they will pay or sell at below the bid or offer) changes depending on their own position.

Not so sure about 4 but I assume it is true, and it seems to be in practice.
Not totally sure about 1 either
768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strategies for dealing with trading bots? on: December 29, 2015, 06:00:18 AM
It is interesting to see the very active presence of trading bots in crypto markets.
I wonder if anyone has any ideas or experience with dealing with them to get a better result?

When you said "dealing with them" I got the impression that you were against the use of bots, but the rest of your statement seems to be for them.  Which way are you going?

I edited my post as you were posting by the look of things, so my editing may have made things clearer. Smiley

I'm not for or against. Though it can be annoying when they jump in front of an order by 1 satoshi and then cancel if I subsequently cancel.  Smiley
If they have weaknesses then I see no issue with exploiting those weaknesses.

Added in edit:

for example I think I have in the past, if I wanted to buy, offered down, and watched a bot offer ahead of me until I got to a level I liked and then bought from the bot. That was a while ago though and bots are probably more prevalent now

For example one can offer or bid ahead of them to see where they stop front running, and to see whether they might be keener to go in one direction than another (perhaps?)

Hi there,

You are using the same ticker as DeltaCredits, which was launched in August. Please change your ticker.

All the best,
Adam

They won't.They consider Delta Credits a 'dead' coin.Read a few pages back!

Good luck to both DCRs !!!!

Please show the exact post where someone belonging to Decred project told they consider Delta Credit to be 'dead' coin and refused to change the ticker. I read this thread and did not notice such statement from the Decred officials. Decred developers seem to be smart guys with legit project and I would not expect them to make such aggressive moves and unnecessarily create enemies for their young project.

Would appreciate a clear statement on this topic from the Decred developers.
I wish the Decred team the best of luck with the experiment but I do think it was a mistake  to take the three letter code being used by another group of people in the crypto community (assuming what's here is accurate). It can't be that hard to come up with an original three letter code.

It's not too late to change it

From an online article.  https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/bitcoin-developers-are-creating-a-new-digital-currency-called-decred/
Quote
In a press release, Jacob Yocom-Piatt, CEO of Company 0, a firm that has funded development of Bitcoin since 2013 said: Many people may not know that despite the technological decentralization Bitcoin has brought the world, there are serious and growing issues of centralization that rule decisions made about the present and future of the project. The Bitcoin software is controlled by a small group of people who decide exclusively what can and cannot be changed.

This is in part due to a lack of mechanisms and pathways for funding development work directly from the community, and as a result Bitcoin development is funded by external entities that create conflicts of interest between the developers and the representative power of the community that uses Bitcoin.

So..... will the decisions on funding Decred will be centrally controlled in any way?

Quote
The press release adds that governance of the project is open to any participant and there will be voting for any proposals looking into software integration
.

How will that work in practice?
772  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [XMR] Monero - Marketing Team & Tactics on: December 28, 2015, 10:05:11 AM

So you're conflating David Latapie being ripped off (who is not a Developer) with the Monero Devs starting a pyramid scheme? I've seen evidence of your inability to comprehend who is involved, what took place and what constitutes evidence, but no evidence of any Monero Developer being involved in a scam or scheme. You are simply wrong if this is the story you're basing your accusation on. David was ripped off, the culprit is in jail, and no Monero Devs were ever involved.
I think we all know that for one reason or another people feel threatened by Monero. Apparently some of these people are Darkcoin/Dashcoin supporters.
It's perfectly natural that there will be some rivalry, but it's easy to see why Dashcoin holders feel threatened.
Monero may possibly have a good future. Hard to say as things change so quickly.
Dashcoin has absolutely no hope at all.
It's difficult enough to get a wider acceptance for Bitcoin, how on earth will Dashcoin ever survive the scrutiny that must come with a wider acceptance? Everything has been documented. All the evidence is there.
At the moment altcoins are only used by an extremely small fringe element. How can Dashcoin ever be accepted apart from the Dashcoin cult that is composed of those who have already invested and who are invested in MN's?

Can you imagine what journalists will do if Dashcoin ever tries to become "legitimate" or widespread.

BTW I hold no Monero. I may buy some if the technicals improve one day, but for now I see no reason

775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Sia - Decentralized Storage - Working Beta - Currency has been released on: December 27, 2015, 10:12:22 AM
Thx for the clarification, but I doubt in expansion of SIA hosts with the fixed IP or dynamic DNS requirement...

I think you are mistaken. IF there is money to be made, hosts will figure out how to make it. Sia's big problem right now is NOT that it does not have enough hosts. Sia's big problem is that it does not have enough people uploading files. You don't need to do any port forwarding at all to be an uploader on the Sia network. Don't need a static IP, don't need any fancy configurations.

I hope that makes sense. Storage is basically free on our network. We don't have a supply problem. And because we don't have a supply problem, as the developers we are focusing all of our energy on the bottleneck: demand.

That doesn't mean that we aren't working on the host experience. The hosts are going to get some upgrades in the 050 release, especially in the form of more information about how much money you are making, how long it's going to take, and in the form of improved protocols for talking to the renter.

The hosts on the Sia network are very important, but without people uploading data to the network they are completely meaningless. It doesn't matter how easy it is or how much storage is available if nobody ever uses it. That's why we are choosing to focus all of our energy on the uploaders right now. Because Sia absolutely needs more uploaders, much more than it needs anything else.
What is the way/ways that you let people know of Sia's existence and capability?

Thanks
776  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / How to contribute to the bitcoin network or project? on: December 27, 2015, 08:23:15 AM
Hi all . I saw this article and got to wondering how I could contribute to the bitcoin network. http://bitcoinist.net/btcc-deploys-full-bitcoin-nodes-to-keep-network-secure/

i don't have a synced wallet on a computer as it must take up quite a bit of space now I imagine (?).
What are the ways to contribute?

Any plans to merge mine with BLC and the other coins in the Blake ecosystem?

Is this 8 round blake?
What are the other coins in the blake eco-system?

Hi all Smiley Is much happening with this coin. I think I remember the dev (BD)from the trollbox at c-cex back in 2013 (?). The alogo seems to get good raps but the coin seems unloved.
Are Blake dev/devs in communication with the people from Decred?
