I found this android wallet for Nxt, is it legit? I don't remember seeing it mentioned in this thread, on the forums, on nxtclient.org or anywhere else.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.nextcoin.nxtclient

Yes and it is very awesome you can build it from source, it is available. I actually read some of the source it connects to other nodes to perform operations but it is safe because it does the signing locally, Now just ensure that YOUR PHONE is spyware free Wink

- Lophie

No, that android app does not do  do signing locally

Can someone send me links to any secure online Nxt wallets available?  Working with a couple exchanges to add Nxt and want to make it easy for their end users.  Thanks.

Don't trust online wallets.

Just implement your own wallet app and make it opensource to let other contribute and audit the code base.

please define secure Grin in online.

maybe: https://wallet.mynxt.info/

Still beta, i think.

No online secure wallet is possible until Nxt implements local signing.

CFB mentioned that he is working on that.

Short calculation: We need 10,000 NXT to buy 20,000 VOTES @ https://www.mintpal.com/voting if we sell the NXT @ 0,0001 BTC

what a waste of money

6. A final NEM stakeholder list is announced which is the social contract of NEM project to its community stating that all Nemcoins (minus development shares) would be divided equally to these accounts.

How exactly will NEM be distributed? The users will get something in PM? A hash or something?

..
Personally I don't visit nextcoin.org much because of the lame name.
+1400 !

As BCNext said:
Nxt has such features as ...
# Name doesn't contain "coin" ...

That's not the problem. It's commercial site associated with dgex

We should use http://www.nxtcrypto.org/

So the IPO was ended after 27 days? And people had to pay more and more and more during that time? Nxt's IPO was 61 days long and everyone paid only 2 Satoshi for 1 Nxt on day 1 and also on day 61. So Nxt is still 6000x more fair than NEM Smiley

I would say, NEM IPO is more fair compare with NXT since NXT only around 70 investors and NEM is around 4000.

This is not fault of Nxt. Nxt IPO was open for 61 days. It's not Nxt fault that people were more skeptical and didn't want to join. Looking back, most here would love to go back in time and join Nxt. The reason why Nem got so much interest this time around is because of success of Nxt.

NEM is 100% POS/PON/POI + SHA-3 + AE Smiley

There is nothing special about SHA3. It's unknown whether SHA3 is safer than SHA2. SHA2 has withstood test of time

By the way, how many coins will NEX have? And is there an ETA for release? Smiley
100 million on release,  1 billion total.

Looks like Frictionless is trying to create Ripple centralized copy. He will release 100 million, and will control the rest of 900 million for future "release"

omg drexme you are truly fucked up in your head Shocked

sry

How am I "fucked up in the head"?

Shall we keep this focused to the part where this actually gets settled instead of namecalling from both sides?

Read my posts, I have not namecalled anyone.

I just don't understand what more do these people want from me

Try https://bter.com/

better than dgex anyway

Looks like nextcoin.org should be totally avoided. Too many "bans" and "block".

I won't use  nextcoin.org.

Work done on messaging area for http://nxtra.org/nxt-client

Not done yet, but done for the day...

Eventually once completed, your client should be distributed as part of NRS package
1552  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 16, 2014, 11:53:51 AM
Wesleyh's client looks so good. Will be there voting included too?

Yes looks great.

We just need native signing and then that client would be the easiest for new users.

No downloads required.

Now our programmer is in the final phase of version 2 with fractional and offchain tipping. With this bot we can transfer down to 0.00000001 NXT!!!!

Hm, isn't this confusing, because you cannot use fractional NXT right now on the chain?
Well, I have no knowledge about tipbots...

You can accumulate tips and eventually withdraw to regular blockchain.

This is nice.  This would also mean people can tip on reddit with zero transactions fees.

Compiling java as native windows executable

Has anyone tried this compiler

http://www.excelsiorjet.com/

This allows the java code to be compiled as native exe file. The user doesn't have to download and install java. The speed is faster than JVM  too.

1556  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 14, 2014, 08:07:04 PM

P.S. I am trying to make sure that even after NXT goes above $1000 we can still buy a lollipop at a precise price.

even if Nxt goes to $1000, 0.00001 would be 1 cent

Too many decimal points bring confusion.
1557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 14, 2014, 07:21:32 PM

No response to this from  "Zerocoin" proponents?

I've heard that NXT is working on a zerocoin implementation.

If so, how do you plan to address these limitations?

Quote
Zerocoin has a number of serious limitations:
- It uses cutting-edge cryptography which may turn out to be insecure, and which is understood by relatively few people (compared to ECDSA, for example).
- It produces large (20kbyte) signatures that would bloat the blockchain (or create risk if stuffed in external storage).
- It requires a trusted party to initiate its accumulator. If that party cheats, they can steal coin. (Perhaps fixable with more cutting-edge crypto.)
- Validation is very slow (can process about 2tx per second on a fast CPU), which is a major barrier to deployment in Bitcoin as each full node must validate every transaction.
- The large transactions and slow validation also means costly transactions, which will reduce the anonymity set size and potentially make ZC usage unavailable to random members of the public who are merely casually concerned about their privacy.
- Uses an accumulator which grows forever and has no pruning. In practice this means we'd need to switch accumulators periodically to reduce the working set size, reducing the anonymity set size. And potentially creating big UTXO bloat problems if the horizon on an accumulator isn't set in advance.

1559  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: February 14, 2014, 06:49:32 PM
It turns out the transition to fractional amounts, which is required for reducing the minimum fee, will not be that simple. It would require adding a new transaction type, because the current ordinary payment transaction stores amounts and fees with 1 NXT precision, not multiplied by 100 as in the account balance. So it will take longer to implement and test. The positive side is that while doing that we can make the fractional part allow amounts much lower than 0.01, so we will achieve much higher divisibility.

We don't really need too much divisibility. Perhaps 1.00000 at max?
