I don't believe Brian with 12K nxt ever forger a block (correct me if I am wrong).

My account number is below. I ran an open client 24/7 from the day I opened it,  had over 23K a large part of that time and never forged a single block.

Great.  Doesn't that answer your own question? Not everyone with small amount of nxt is needed as they can't forge anyway.

1062  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 04, 2014, 04:15:26 PM
Could someone give ME an answer then? Or do I have to go through the whole thread as well?
Is there a percentage? Is it a fixed number of users with a minimum about of NXT?

There is no percentage or fixed number or definite answer. I don't believe Brian with 12K nxt ever forger a block (correct me if I am wrong). Most blocks are forged by big holders and it's in their self interest to run nodes and forge, as they have big investment in the system.

1063  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 04, 2014, 04:11:33 PM

Self-Interest is also Bitcoin's defense regarding 51% attacks, yet the pooling phenomenon has made this argument more specious.
A malicious agent could pose as a benevolent pool and accumulate enough mining power to take Bitcoin down. Likely? not really. Posible?
Definitely.

We don't have pools, but even if we do, we have like 150 people with over 1 million nxt? As long as some of them are forging, no pool is going to forge 10 blocks in a row anytime soon

1064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 04, 2014, 04:04:28 PM
Btw, how could harmony666 attack the Net? It was something like to prevent some accounts from forging isnt it? Is that issue solved? Why did he come almost as a terrorist and later he was so "friendly"?  Huh

It was accident. He tried stealing money from BTER by using this attack

https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,3884.0.html

but didn't succeed, but the attack crashed some forgers which was not his original plan. The original plan was to steal money from BTER account.

Offer stands to show where anyone else here has answered my question directly  and told me that the Nxt network will be secure with only large stakeholders forging.

I will not search that too-long thread.

Nevertheless, I do not get your question. Could you paraphrase it?

The question, which I think is important to have a mathematical answer to.

What ratio of existing accounts need to be running an open client for the network to be secure?

You were given the answer many times in this thread.  Look it up yourself. There is no definite percentage as accounts will continue to grow. All we need is that at least some big holders (with more than 300K nxt)  forge, as they get to forge almost all blocks anyway, they need to be honest with no shenanigans, and provide enough bandwidth. Since they have big investment, it's in their self interest to do that.

Nxt survives just by that.

1066  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][NAS][Launched] NasCoin | Descendant of NXT |Bounties|Faucet on: April 04, 2014, 06:10:51 AM
What's the difference between NAS and NXT? What is the main innovation?

Nothing.

Pretty worthless.

Nxt is continuously developed by core developers and third party programmers. This brings absolutely nothing new to table.

1067  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 04, 2014, 06:06:50 AM
If there are say, 100,000 Nxt accounts, what percentage of them need to be running open clients for the system to be secure?
Is it 10% 20% 50% 75%? Does anyone even know? Nobody answers when I ask.
The only reason I've harped on the same question is because no one has given a satisfactory answer. In fact this is when the devs get very slippery and evasive and people start calling me a troll.

This question has been answered a million times. Since only big holders get to forge most often, only a few big holders are needed. They have self interest to not only forge, but be honest forgers, as anything bad and  dishonest (like double spending)  would hurt nxt credibility, which would result in killing their own investment. That's proof of stake at work.

I know this thread is very long, but this question has been answered multiple times.

Despite the long thread, he has been told this repeatedly. He just keeps posting the same thing over and over again, along with why ripple is better.

You are in the wrong but you'll never admit it and I won't try to make you. You don't like me and you took it out on me with your little no fee stunt. I don't like you either but I included the fee because that's just the right thing to do. Have a nice life.

This doesn't make sense, though. Nxt requires fee, so it's not as if you had a choice there.
1070  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 03, 2014, 08:46:20 PM
Wtb lots of NXT
Only escrow!

I can do escrow if you want and find someone to take up your offer.

make sure he includes the fee when he sends you yours. Kept me waiting for hours by not including it for mine.

lol, why should i pay for the fee? I sent what was sent to me^^

You could have paid him 0.0001 less. It would not have  cost you anything.

This reminds me of a question a wife asks his husband:

Do you think i have gained weight?

The thing is that without fees transaction can sometimes get stuck for days. I would rather get 0.0001  less than deal with that.

And be accused that delivered less than was agreed? Guys, ur claims look weird...

Why? He delivers exactly what was promised. the amount minus the fees. The transaction clearly shows that.

Thank you for your coin!
We just added your crypto to our gamble site http://bilero.com.
Can you add this link to Aphrodite description?

Dude, this coin is scam. Supposedly for cyprus,  the "developer" has been dumping "pre-mined" coins on exchanges

Quote
What Ethereum intends to provide is a blockchain with a built-in fully fledged Turing-complete programming language that can be used to create "contracts" that can be used to encode arbitrary state transition functions, allowing users to create any of the systems described above, as well as many others that we have not yet imagined, simply by writing up the logic in a few lines of code.

Afaik when we have AT, we have this. Before Ethereum.

We don't. It's not implemented yet, and I doubt it will anytime soon

No, I am supporting NXT in so many ways. How i respond to FUDsters like Brian is my business. I am in no way a marketeer of NXT, this is my free time i am investing into this, pushing projects, spreading information, managing the subreddit ect.

I will not tolerate people like Brian and treat them with respect if they missquote infos and missinterprete everything they read.

Did you see me being unfriendly or rude to a single new user of NXT? No? Then ask yourself why!

From what I have seen, Brian is stuck on just one theme for weeks (or is it month)

(1) Ripple is better
(2) Nxt can't work without every user forging.

I think he will be better off investing in something he thinks is better.

1078  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 02, 2014, 09:21:24 PM
Why is no one talking about the bombshell C-F-B dropped last night in releasing the 3rd part of BCNext plan, which was basically one paragraph saying NXT was just an experiment and will fail without altrustic human cooperation?

I was hoping it was an April Fools joke but I don't think it was. If so, I've already dumped half my Nxt because of it.

Very pessimistic interpretation.

I don't think it is. I've been asking here for months how you are going to get little fish to forge, how we'll get instant 1000 TPS as promised, whether the network is safe being protected only by big fish forging and no one would give a straight answer. I also come to learn Nxt doesn't work without CENTRALIZED high power VPS nodes being run at expense to anyone wanting to do so, which makes it NO different than Ripple, which by the way DOES have instant transactions.

The 3rd part of the plan basically explained everything. Nxt is not an elegant financial solution. It won't work without centralization and as people lose interest the network will become weaker and weaker. Meanwhile other people are coming up with real solutions that don't involve everyone holding hands and singing Koom-By_Ya.

So if BCNext said that Nxt will be in your morning cereal, would you have bought as much Nxt as possible?   His 3rd part wasn't a plan at all, it was a philosophical interpretation of what he thinks of BTC, Nxt, etc.. with no specifics, and his thoughts are just that, they have no affect and influence on what Nxt has/will become.  I will buy all of your Nxt for Ripple or BTC right now, put your money where your mouth is.

I accept this offer. I have about 12k Nxt. make me an offer

I will purchase your 12k for BTC just to be fair (ripple is worthless), what is market rate for 12k Nxt?  I will send BTC to TwinWinNerD if he will do escrow.

I'll take the XRP. Ripple is ten times a better system than Nxt is.

Just go to bter and sell it. Prices are up right now.

Live happy ever after

They can't forge even if they try. Big holders gets to forge. All they can do is provide bandwidth (even that is not needed, really with a few gigabit nodes around).

By the way, I get google fiber in next 6 months or so. 1 gigabit upload speed Smiley I will setup a node.
