If you tolerate this blatant scamming how do you expect to not have a bad reputation? You just had to have a cut off date. I can't trust this coin now.

wtf ... a mate of mine told me about NXTL so I registered on this site today to get on board. Why? coz my mate made a million bucks off of NXT, and I've been bugging him to tell me about the next big thing in crypto.

I'm no scammer.  F*ck you nextgencoin!

You sound like one though, That's a pretty nasty reply from  a "new" user

Yes, you're right, I make changes to the registration, but I have an ad on other pages, people come from other sites. I will do next week technical analysis. If you have any ideas how to help send me a PM

Try if you can catch some of the scammers with taint analysis. If you do, don't refund them back.

My suggestion: there is no solution to this problem of sock puppets.

(1) You can either restrict new registration for people with older accounts AND 50+ posts.

Or (2) just close new registrations. We already have enough people

Yes you're right, the hack was a month ago but I didn't notice it because I haven't logged into my account for a long time. I really don't know how the hell they were able to crack my pw...as you stated out, even bruteforcing it would be nearly impossible. Another thing I checked is if someone could have been on my computer...but it's locked in my apartement and only my girlfriend (really not a tech person at all!) could have used it...well she didn't...after all it's her money too  Wink I never used the NRS on a 'public' computer and downloaded it from the link in this thread. I would love to tell you the original password, but i use it to encrypt my BTC wallet too. It's a similar random combination just like 1Nm4azDöl68gRpqy29gEüXXnjk@b_)38dzkb?q
I guess, I was just reall really damn unlucky...

Please post your password so we can check if your password was hacked or you were hacked because you did not have outgoing transaction.

Your account is only protected with 64 bits (around same strength as 11 char password) if you do not have one outgoing transaction.

I just lost 4895 NXT due to a hack of my account 5567681145144036875...My NXT were transformed to 559517716197875196

I know there is no way to get the coins back, but I wanted to let you all know and stress out USE PASSWORDS WITH AT LEAST 100+ chars!!! My password was 34 chars/random combination...no keylogger on my pc, NRS (0.7.5) from the official source...I guess I just have been very unlucky...

https://nextcoin.org/index.php/topic,4611.0.html

If your password was truly random, with no keyloggers on your machine, then you might be the first victim of 64-bit ID weakness as you had no outgoing transaction.

Can you post your password so people can compare your public key with the hacker one?

Just so that I understand it.

If I created a password and sent NXT to this account corresponding withthe password, then someone found a colliding key for the 20 digit account number, and he then logs in and spends exactely 1 NXT. I would then NOT be able to login to that account anymore? True?

You will be able to "login" but won't be able to send money.

We won't know what happened until he posts his password

What's wrong with the APH? The price is dumping and dumping....

It's a scam. That's what wrong. The "developer" has premined 75% of coins that he controls that he will will keep dumping to any newbie who buys it.

I noticed that in development plan Nem will use SHA3, but SHA3 is not yet standardized

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SHA-3

Quote
Pending the standardization of SHA-3, the standard and output values are subject to change.

It is possible that Nem will forever get stuck with non-standard version which will not be supported by standard libraries, making writing Nem related software difficult for third-party developers.

TwinWinNerD: you can focus on reddit tipbot. Funds for that were sent  Smiley

yeah, we reddit mods have some things planned , but we wait for the AE to launch.

We shouldn't be giving free nxt to people on BTT and sock puppets.  It's not going to do anything. They either already have nxt or will dump them if given free nxt.

We should make nxt useful for people outside crypto forums.

For example, someone is building an mobile app for encrypted messages using nxt platform. How would people using that app (but never heard of crypto) buy nxt for that app?  The app maker should sell nxt to his users with credit card or google checkout (with daily limit to reduce risk of chargebacks).

Or somthing like this

https://nxtforum.org/general/looking-to-hire-experienced-web-applications-developer-for-physical-goods-store/

There should be bounty and more interest in such projects.

they dont have to buy nxt for the app.. the messages are 100% subsidised! once a user base is established, a yearly fee will be charged..(like 50c or something) i think... i think there will be links on the app somewhere too directing to more info about nxt

Ok, that sounds like it might work after all.

How about we use 1.500.000 NXT to give each of the 3000 NEM participants 500 NXT? They are a very motivated community, and we can market it like: " Check out our working system while you wait for NEM"
Thoughts?

No.  Most Nem stakeholders have nxt accounts.

Plus too many sock puppets.

Love how this coin completely died after the dev was caught red handed dumping the premine coins.  And now he hasn't said a word in this thread, or his other 'shill' account julian.

How do you investors feel right about now now that you lost everything, as we warned you earlier?

Fine... The coins I have are a reminder that I tried to do something for Cyprus...

It was pretty obvious that none of the coins will go cyprus. It was a scam. If after seeing the evidence you still stuck yo your belief that you were doing something for cyprus, then that wasn't the very smart thing. You could  have sold the coins and sent the fiat to someone in cyprus. Then at least you would have done something for cyprus.

It's really not that hard to secure your NXT account, even with the current setup.

1) Open your text editor, close your eyes, and randomly strike keys. Make sure you use a combination of upper and lower case, numbers and special characters. You  must have a minimum of 30 characters. Personally I just kept going until the end of a single line on my text editor's window.

2) Save this file buried somewhere on your filesystem. Obviously do not name it "mynnxtpassword.txt" and save it in My Documents. You can call it something like "en-us" or "random_program_serial". Remove the txt extension so it appears as an unknown file.

3) Your NXT password should be this string PLUS a simple password (such as one you commonly use) that you type in either before or after pasting in the string.

By following these simple steps, the only possible way someone would get into your account would be if you had malware on your computer that was able to read the clipboard AND your keystrokes. Extremely unlikely. If you are truly paranoid, you can use a virtual keyboard instead of typing in one part of your password.

For extra security, NXT should be installed on a Linux Virtual Machine as opposed to your main system.

How about finger print and facial recognition !
Could a keylogger know what characters are deleted and where they were in a password?

Almost all keyloggers capture clipboard.

This will never save you against keyloggers.

Here is a typical keylogger

http://download.cnet.com/Free-Keystroke-Logger/3000-2162_4-75447782.html

Quote
It captures all keystrokes from all applications in covert, invisible mode. Then saves collected information to special reports, so you can view results of monitoring later. In addition, it is possible to scan clipboard for changes (record copied text), and monitor Internet navigation (record visited websites)

Most here understand this. Go back a few pages and see someone complaining about nxt because he used  "null" (no string) as secret phrase  and got hacked.

We are trying to implement solutions here how not to let users make such mistakes, and make it easy so they don't have to type 12 words long passwords.

1018  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NXT :: descendant of Bitcoin - Updated Information on: April 06, 2014, 11:11:06 AM
I like the general idea of using hashes of files. But I think it confuses the hell out of users (especially with images). Passphrase/Wallet situation would be criticized even more.

I didn't say it should be implemented, but I am throwing an idea which is pretty safe (much safer than wallet.dat with private keys in it).  It's hard to write malware to steal wallet.dat when the   wallet could be any random file (or combination of random files) on the computer.

This is good idea! I also thought the same thing a while back. People can remember pics much better than most things. The one weakness is that if somebody knows you a bit and you dont have that many pics to choose from, they would be able to find the right one if they ever got access to your computer

If someone has access to your computer and wants to harm you, then they can do anything. Nothing can save you, They can install for example hardware/software keylogger.  There is no safety against the scenario where someone has both access to your computer and want  to steal/do harm.

A random file as a secret phrase saves you trouble of typing your passwords and it makes it harder to for malware writer to steal the right file.

Also, for extra paranoids they can keep the key files in USB thumb drive among 1000s of other images. That will make it even more safer, as the right files will not be even on the computer
