Are you asking from the point of view as an investor or someone looking to raise capital?
82  Economy / Securities / Re: I need some advice on setting up a crypto investment club on: December 24, 2018, 08:09:31 AM
What country are you located in? It is likely not worth the legal hassle to do this if you're in the US.
83  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: BitSkins withdrawal on: November 30, 2018, 10:27:27 PM
Have you tried trading with a friend? What does the message say? BitSkins is pretty reputable IMO, I've made a few large transactions with no issues.

Is there any chance you will offer higher leverage? I'd like to gamble my kids' lunch money but really want to make sure I can lose it all. Thanks Smiley

Funnily enough, a topic of mine was just straight up deleted from the same section. Now, I’m no where near as knowledgeable as you or philip, but I really don’t see how my post broke any rules. Here was the body of it:

Quote
I was wondering if anyone here has some insight into how large scale indsutrail crypto mining operations work. Do they still break even when there is high price volatility like this? What is the typical cost per kWh if you count in hosting? Do they keep running even when this cost is higher than the mining reward?

Besides my butchering of the word industrial, as well as the fact that my question was fairly basic, I don’t see what was so offensive about it to be deleted without notice. I am by no means a regular of this section, but I agree with you that someone is making questionable moderation decisions.

Sounds like a mining topic. Was it on the Hardware board? It should have been moved perhaps but I don't see it as needing to be deleted.

Nope, it was in the Mining parent board. According to #4, this seemed like the right place.

jackg, use the EU flag as your avatar then.

Ew that’s gross!

Why would I want the avatar of a failing state and look as if I’m showing appreciation for Germany winning the war in the end...

I like the caerdydd flag but the city isn’t too big so I might get spotted.

Could someone resize the spinning disk one please to fit in my avatar, I can give a small incentive of 0.25mBTC as I’ve started trading and have a profit margin to keep Grin.

Since it was my idea, here you go:

I think a cool way to distinguish the two of you while still having the flag yourself would be to use an animated version. Maybe something like or

Obviously, they would need to be resized, and, possibly, condensed.
89  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: July 06, 2018, 09:38:31 AM
Hi everyone, I have just sent out all outstanding payments in BTC and IOST.* I hope that at least your patience and trust has been somewhat rewarded, and I thank you for giving me that. On behalf of the IOST team, I would like to thank you all for your enthusiasm and help over the past 10 weeks. Regarding the issues of the past few weeks, those mistakes were mine alone. With that in mind, I hope whatever interest you have in the IOST project has not been diminished due to one person's errors.

I'd also like to apologize for the miscommunication regarding the last round of payments. I made the mistake of not asking how long it would take for the escrow address to be funded when I commented regarding payment times. This was stupid of me, and although I ended up sending everything out within the 48 hours I actually received the funds, this obviously was not what you were expecting.

Finally, it has also come to my attention that a few IOST payments have been dropped from the network, as the Ethereum network is particularly congested right now. This is despite using a higher than median fee (80 GWEI), so I am not sure what else I could have done to avoid this. Judging by the remaining balance of the escrow address, this totals under 10% of the total payments. To reiterate, I am aware that this is an issue, and will be re-sending any effected payments later tonight to avoid any potential double spends at the moment. Feel free to PM me if this includes you, or if you think your payment is incorrect, however, I will also be going back through the spreadsheet.

Hi everyone!

Given that the campaign is ending today, I am happy to announce that payments will be going out within the next 48 hours. Assuming there are no congestion issues with the network, my goal is to have them out by tomorrow. I have updated the spreadsheet with posts from week 6 to week 10.

To calculate your payment in IOST: (pay rate*total number of posts*.9*1.1)/(25*$.0246)
To calculate your payment in BTC: (pay rate*total number of posts*.1*1.1)/(25*$6345)

Where $.0246 and $6345 are the current exchange rates of IOST and BTC respectively according to Coinmarketcap.

I will add this equation to the spreadsheet later.

Still nothing even 3 days after an "official" response from the IOST team?

To be completely frank, i'm pretty disappointed about the performance of the IOST team and this probably reflects as much on the value of their project as well. This is a simple problem and I would expect brilliant minds who are competing against other I-o-T projects would have come up with a better solution.

I understand MadZ is in China but how difficult is it really to use the internet? Do we even need to depend on MadZ alone? Just my 2 cents.
I agree, I am very disappointed too, on how this was handled.  Sad I was very excited about this new project and this is the only reason I have stuck with the campaign, ignoring all the red flags.

Even at the beginning of this campaign, MadZ was very unpredictable and often not on time with payments. I don't think he was on time with any of the payments if I remember right.
We all have real-life commitments like a job/school/kids but if you can't handle this part, then why would you engage in extra work here? I would not recommend MadZ for any future campaign management work.

I would have expected more implication from the IOST team too, since marketing is a very important part when it comes to crypto currencies that are just starting out.

Throwing in a 5% bonus seems to me like a very low price to pay for this (since they don't really pay for anything, they already own the coins).
Considering that week 5 is almost over and we still don't know a date when we're going to be paid or from which funds since the amount MadZ has is not enough to pay everyone.  Undecided

I still hope the IOST team will truly come back with way to compensate people and try to "clear" the name of IOST on BCT.

The escrow address is being refilled in the next few days. I am also adding 5% from my own payment in addition to the other 5%. Please keep in mind that payments are pegged to USD values, so price fluctuations over the past few weeks will not affect the amount you are being paid now.
92  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: June 29, 2018, 11:49:52 AM
Hello everyone! I would like to start by saying that I am currently in touch with the IOST team and will be receiving funds within the next few days to cover the payments that have been missed over the past 4 weeks (in addition to this final round). On behalf of the IOST team, I would like to sincerely apologize for this delay. While I am sure many of you blame IOST for this, that blame is entirely mine, as I will explain below.

Before getting into that, I understand that many of you may have left the campaign for other opportunities during this time period. I would like to assure these people, as well as those still in the campaign, that they will receive full payment for the weeks they have been active. Additionally, the IOST team will be adding a 5% bonus to all payments as additional compensation for this delay.

With that out of the way, I would like to personally apologize for my lack of communication during this time period. I am sure you are all probably wondering where I have been. Am I dead, or, even worse, am I scammer? Fortunately, I am neither, however, I don’t blame you if you wish I was the former at this point. You deserved better, and I am sorry for failing you as your campaign manager.

As Cinazhang mentioned, the reason for my absence is that I have been in China for the past few weeks. This is a country I have never visited before, and although I was aware of the fact that internet access would be restricted, I improperly prepared myself for how severe these restrictions would be. I only bought one VPN before coming, and it has not worked since I got here. While I knew Telegram and Google would be blocked, I honestly did not expect Bitcointalk to be blocked as well. This was extremely naive of me, considering the government’s attitude towards crypto.

Under this assumption, I did not inform anyone at IOST I was traveling to China before I did so. This was another stupid decision on my part. As mentioned before, Telegram is also blocked in China. Telegram has also been my primary means of communication with the IOST team throughout these past few months. In light of this, it wasn’t until a few days ago that they actually knew why I was out of contact, and  it wasn’t until today that I was able to find a website that was not blocked through which to download a working VPN.

I say this because I would like to distinguish between myself and the IOST team. The reason I agreed to help out with this project is because I personally knew someone working with IOST. I had no relation with IOST prior to this campaign, and I am unlikely to afterwards. I offered to work on this because it is a project I think deserves more attention, and because I have been involved in this community for 5 years now. No doubt my reputation has probably been ruined after this, however, it saddens me to think that my failure should extend towards IOST. All I ask is that you direct your (deserved) negativity towards me and not towards this project.

Finally, I would like to say that I can not in good faith receive full payment for my mistakes over the past few weeks. While the IOST team has graciously offered as much, I will also be adding another 5% bonus to these payments from my own payment as a token of my apology, meaning all payments will be 10% above the amount stated in the original post. I know this can’t make things right, but I hope it goes a bit to express how sorry I am for the way I have handled things.

-Mad Z

94  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: SebastianJu flaked with escrow on: June 04, 2018, 09:21:50 PM
The last time I used his escrow it was free but this time he snuck in a 30% fee on me. I feel like an honest person would have said something. If you read the OP it is really easy to miss his extremely high fee. He was absolutely was unresponsive and had a lame excuse when he came back. This entire situation has lead to me no longer trusting him at all.

His avatar and personal text clearly advertise his escrow service as being free of charge. I agree with you that this is extremely misleading, especially if you've used his service in the past without paying a fee. Have you thought about asking him for a refund? Given this misunderstanding along with the other issues you experienced, I think it is an entirely fair request to make.
95  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: May 30, 2018, 05:53:47 AM
Hello, for week 5 you only sent 283 IOST even though I was supposed to receive 787.

Transaction ID: 0x2b43435a1a8773613a5b1effeca703795cdb59e2ca3cf62c96f9578e02178dc8

As I mentioned in my announcement, the last round started on May 21st and ended 1 week later. During that time you made 9 qualifying posts, hence the payment of 283. The other 8 you've made since then would qualify for the next round.
96  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: May 30, 2018, 05:22:24 AM
Payments for week 5 have been sent out!

3 day average price used for BTC payments: $7,333
3 day average price used for IOST payments: $.04

At current prices that's a nice 5% increase to IOST Smiley

I'd like to stop this right here and make clear that this is not a matter of money but rather a matter of principle. I'm happy to donate at minimum the funds involved in this claim to a charity of the community's choosing. The trust of this community is not something we take for granted and is why we elected to post here to further explain this unusual situation.
If you are clever, donate to Game Protect.

98  Economy / Services / Re: [CFNP] IOS - Signature & Avatar Campaign | Up to $150/week - (Extended) on: May 21, 2018, 06:29:26 AM
Spreadsheet for the 5th week has been added. Unfortunately, it was impossible to keep everyone from the first round given the new budget. On behalf of everyone at IOS, I'd like to thank you all for your help in bring awareness to our project.

Congratulations to those who were selected. The next round will begin Monday (May 21st) and run until the end of June. As before, each round will last for one week, with payment also sent out every week. Payment will be according to the USD values in the main post, with 90% in IOST and 10% in BTC. These values are the equivalent payment rates from when the campaign first started. The exchange rate for IOST and BTC will be determined on payment day as the average of current USD price for each along with the closing prices for the previous 2 days. The reason I am averaging prices is to avoid under/overpaying people in the case of any single day's price volatility. Hope that makes sense. Prices will be taken from Coinmarketcap.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

Again, ALU has nothing to do with this; you continually spread malicious lies, thus none of your words can be trusted anymore. Tagging your shill account is worthless; you should be removed from the forum.

Putting some of the more creative conspiracy theories aside, I think its fair to say aTriz did represent ALU in at least some capacity. Is it not reasonable that by adding the ALU banner to the bottom of the bounties he managed (Moonlite, etc.), aTriz implied that they were in some way related to ALU? This is what I assume when I see that anyway.

How far back, we can see these report stats on our "report history" (a week, a month or more)?
- I'm asking this since I've been inactive (recently), in terms of reporting.

Would be nice to see our own comments, somewhere on "report history".

Most of my reports are from years ago and I still have stats on them. Just hit report to moderator and you will see for yourself.
