Even funnier: what's the latest tech addition to Bitcoin Cash in their May fork?

Lightning.

And whose (unfinished) work did they copy & paste to make Lightning possible on Bitcoin Cash? Bitcoin Core's Schnorr sigs spec.

How is this possible?  No Lightning without a malleability fix.  Will Bcash-BAB bend the knee to segwit? Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

@Carlton Banks
I don't think that bitcoin is for the rich now... but some are pushing on this way buy doing wrong short term choices, to please their investors.

Other clients (unlimited, xt and classic) are working on solutions to scale "on-chain", they are doing it because it is possible and they haven't any conflict of interest on giving these kind of solutions.

HostFat managed to be so wrong about so much, in this hilariously not-aging-well assertion of his favorite controversial hard forks' superiority.

Unlimited, XT, and Classic are abandonware now, while BAB and BSV are notorious for their conflicts of interest created by the very rich people known as Roger Veer, Jihan Woo, and Calvin Airhead.

Is this the video where Amanda talks about how she gave Evolution one last chance to meet its self-imposed "end of 2018" deadline but that didn't happen?

Or is this the one where Amanda explains why she's still shilling Dash despite previously claiming to only be interested in the Top 12 coins?

29  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: February 12, 2019, 04:46:56 AM
Regarding the i2p drama, what if we turn it around by using the opportunity to restart from scratch, this time utilizing best practices to avoid another disappointment and instead create something amazing+useful for everyone who uses the internet?

Rolling our own single-use project-specific (functionally proprietary) crypto is bad not just because of the isolated point of developer failure, but because it eschews known good schema like Black Team vs. Red Team Protocol Design.

Given:

-Monero needs an i2p client not written in Oracle's unsafe/bloated Java and has demonstrated resource commitment to that with Kovri

-Kovri is written in C++, a safer/faster improvement over Java's lowest bar but not ideal for modern security-critical FOSS networking applications
-Monero is part of a small family of altcoins striving to uphold Bitcoin's cyberpunk ideal of a private, fungible store of value/medium of exchange
-this small family consists of Litecoin (implementing mimblewimble Soon), Cardano (implementing Sonic ZK-SNARKS Soon), Grin (using mimblewimble now), and Decred (implementing some kind of fungibility feature Soon)
-all these projects are self funding, using a FFS, Treasury, and/or Foundation
and
-all these projects may benefit from availability of the option to preserve privacy at the network layer

I propose the i2p router project be rebooted and distributed among the various and splendid Magical Crypto communities:

-Cardano plays Black Team, leveraging their Foundation+Treasury resources and  IOHK's expertise in formal analysis to create a fully verified canonical i2p client in a concurrent/functional/strongly typed language (Haskell or Erlang) and use the resulting specification to create a 2nd client (in Rust or Elixir)
-Monero plays Red Team and tries to break whatever Black Team builds

-Purple Team may be played by Decred (Politeia permittting), Litecoin (if coblee isn't too busy and Foundation can afford), or Grin (who are they again?)

Even scamcoins with an interest in network privacy (Zcash, Dash, Beam, PivX) could be of use by contributing funds/code/review.
Major projects with high-value transparent blockchains should also provide user privacy at the network level for reasons of physical security/safety and mitigating DDOS/hacking vectors, so a bolt-on i2p layer is something Bitcoin/Ethereum/Stellar devs may be motivated to help fund/build/deploy/maintain.

By request, here is the code for my sig.  It's free for anyone to use as long as you keep the "Is Dash a Scam?" link.  Otherwise it's 0.1 tacoshi to license. Wink

alts are now starting to recapitalise in a big way

That was what was needed to confirm the bottom and start a reversal in BTC

And yet 3 responses to my post have been made in less than 1 hour.  That's much more activity than most of Dash's ghost town of an abandoned scammunity ever sees.
Scammunity, really?
DASH, in fact, expanded its community over so many nations.
Especially in Latin American countries, like Venezuela, Brazil, Colombia, and more.
Those nations and communitites there might play huge important roles for the next flight to the Moon of DASH.  Grin

I know Dash is *claiming* to have expanded its community but I don't believe that claim is true.  For one thing, the number of tx (excluding PrivateSend bloat) is waaay down.

Many key old-school people have abandoned Dash entirely and no amount of starving third-world grifters putting stickers on cash registers changes that fact.

Evan Duffield and Amanda BJ are long gone and never coming back.  Minotaur, Chuck, and Andy rage-quit or were fired by Dash Core for being incompetent and causing Evolution to be 3 years behind schedule.  Plus bigrcanada is so salty and butt-mad he's threatening to abandon the crypto space entirely!  Cheesy

The Dash subreddit has far fewer posts and members than those for comparable crypto projects.  Even much smaller coins like NANO are 10 times more active on social media.

The only way to motivate anyone to help buidl out the Dash ecosystem is to bribe them with Treasury funds.  Unlike other coins with genuine grassroots community support, Dash must resort to paying shills to astroturf and create fake impressions of organic growth.  Dash even got busted by RussiaToday for faking adoption in Venezuela.

Where are the Dash conferences?  Real coins like Bitcoin, Cardano, Litecoin, and Monero have conferences.  Why can't Dash's purportedly "expanded community over so many nations" manage to pool their resources and make a Dash conference happen?

There aren't even any Dash Meetup groups.  Someone on Reddit asked if anyone was attending a Dash MUG and the silence was deafening.
Source: https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/akwhf4/attend_a_regular_dash_meetup_post_it_here/

Litecoin has meet-ups.  So do Cardano and Monnero.  Bitcoin has meet-ups all over the world attended by 100s of 1000s of people.  Even Decred holds meet-ups.

How dare you suggest Dash's community is in any way "huge" or "important"?  Please, fuck right off with that FAKE NEWS shilling.  Dash Evolution isn't even open source like a real crypto must be; it's just pathetic that you would even try to push such bullshit here on Satoshi's Holy BBS.

Dash's community is nothing compared to Bitcoin's, Cardano's, Litecoin's, and Monero's.  Dash doesn't have conferences or meet-ups because it has no real organic ecosystem.  The only entity that matters in Dash is DCG, which is (with expectation of profit) entrusted by hands-off Masternode investors to manage and control the project.

Cardano delivers yet another holy grail, this time for fungibility/privacy!!!

Sonic: Zero-Knowledge SNARKs from Linear-Size Universal and Updateable Structured Reference Strings

ABSTRACT

Zero-knowledge proofs have become an important tool for addressing privacy and scalability concerns in cryptocurrencies and other applications. In many systems each client downloads and verifies every new proof, and so proofs must be small and cheap to verify. The most practical schemes require either a trusted setup, as in (pre-processing) zk-SNARKs, or verification complexity that scales linearly with the complexity of the relation, as in Bulletproofs. The structured reference strings required by most zk-SNARK scheme scan be constructed with multi-party computation protocols, but the resulting parameters are specific to an individual relation. Groth etal. discovered a zk-SNARK protocol with a universal and updateable structured reference string, however the string scales quadratically in the size of the supported relations. Here we describe a zero-knowledge SNARK, Sonic, which sup-ports a universal and continually updateable structured reference string that scales linearly in size. Sonic proofs are constant size, and in the batch verification context the marginal cost of verification is comparable with the most efficient SNARKs in the literature. We also describe a generally useful technique in which untrusted “helpers” can compute advice which allows batches of proofs to be verified more efficiently.

Our Contributions

We present Sonic, a new zk-SNARK for general arithmetic circuit satisfiability. Sonic requires a trusted setup, but unlike conventional SNARKs the structured reference string supports all circuits (up to a given size bound) and is also updateable, so that it can be continually strengthened. This addresses many of the practical challenges and risks surrounding such setups. Sonic’s structured reference string grows linear in size with respect to the size of supported circuits,as opposed to the scheme by Groth et al. which scales quadratically. The structured reference string in Sonic also does not need to be specialized or pre-processed for a given circuit. This makes a large, distributed and never-ending setup process a practical reality.

CONCLUSIONS

Zero-knowledge protocols have gained significant traction in recent years in the application domain of cryptocurrencies, which has led to the development of new protocols with significant performance gains. At the same time, the requirements of this application have given rise to protocols with new features, such as an untrusted setup and a reference string that allows one to prove more than a single relation. In this paper, we present Sonic, which captures a valuable set of trade-offs between these key functional requirements of untrusted setup and universality. At the same time, as we demonstrate via a prototype implementation, Sonic has competitive proof sizes and verification time with the state-of-the-art.

tldr; Cardano fixed all the things that make Zcash shitty but kept the good stuff that makes Zcash marginally interesting

Well, look at who owns polo ... its wall street driven. Monero has a negative touch due to the fact its a very common form of payment in the darknet. So I guess the wall street guys dont want to get connected with supporting a darknet coin - To be honest, they would have to cancel BTC traiding pairs then as well.

OP is fake news and Polo isn't dropping support for xmr.  Don't let nudilah the Dash shill bamboozle you with his endless propaganda war against Manoro.

Wall Street wants and needs fungibility and privacy as much or more than everybody else.  Think about how much proprietary information is leaked though blockchain metadata and how that could impact a Wall Street company's profit margins.

You've heard the slanderous accusations no doubt.

The story they don't allow you to hear is rather complex, but I'll give it a go.

jl777 is an anonymous web financier who lives on the internet and sells people millions of dollars in ponzi investment products.  He is 100% anonymous and goes to great lengths to keep it that way.

I arrived at NXT with virtually no knowledge of the project.  I was curious about some of their claims.  I got to know some of the people there and some suggested that I make a proposal to improve the currency.  I proposed a feature called Virtual Corporations, which allow for complex internal asset and money management in a p2p environment.  We went through a community process and the community agreed to fund roughly 33,000 NXT(about $1000) for what I estimated to be about 1-2 months of full time work.  The project gained a lot of interest.

Whether its because of Monero's heavy association with background mining, North Korea/terrorism, pedophilia cams/other dark market activity, the surprising number of forks the coin keeps enduring, or because it's been long overdue anyway, Polo will finally stop supporting Monero. I guess this means they will finally shut down all their XMR base pairs as well, as its always looked ridiculous and I don't understand how they ever got roped into such a maneuver (manure?) in the first place.

Manuroheads, sorry for your losses, but you best cash out now. I mean unless you insist on funding your vices and illegal activities through a process you believe in your heart to be "truly anonymous" Cheesy Cheesy  . The anonymity market share you own - on the assumption that privatesend works flawlessly - is about to be overtaken by Monyro

Their anonymity solution is superior to yours, developed by hackers. A purely trustless solution.

I'm implementing I2P into the masternodes. We're going to have our own private network just for PrivateSend.

the new masternode blinding system is quite impressive.

IP Obfuscation will come through the use of the  Decentralized API, meaning using the masternode network to execute commands so that the actual message comes out of a masternode quorum and not directly from your client
