Anyone who criticises Dash at all is obviously a troll. Tell me, is Charlie Lee also a troll? Because he is also saying some horrible and nasty things about poor, harangued, hard-done-by Dash. Maybe you should put him on the ignore/troll list as well, just in case he decides to post a comment here?

Newbs get this: when the masternode sell-off begins it will already be too late for you to get out. You will wake up in the poor house. Ditch this shit now while you can still get a relatively high price for it.

Who cares what this guy thinks?

His claim to fame was driven by:

CTRL-C
CTRL-P

And litecoin was born
He's not an innovator and apart from his mouth mouthing off, doesn't contribute that much

Apparently @WWhithauer cares what @SatoshiLite thinks.

That's why he asked coblee "what are your thoughts on DASH?"

CTRL-P?  Why would coblee print out the source code?  That’s real retarded, sir.

Oh, you must be thinking of CTRL-V, which is paste, but are too much of a non-1337 lamer dumbass to complete your deflection mission without screwing up your basic, unoriginal Hurr-Durr-Litecoin-is-just-a-clone talking point.

And let's not forget that DASH is also a copy-paste job, with zero original innovation.  Apart from scamming noobs, Duffield doesn't contribute that much.

Dash's chances of getting on Coinbase aren't looking great, TBH.

That reminds me, Scamanda BJ is another person who may care what coblee thinks, given her try-hard efforts to brigade the Coinbase poll.

https://www.reddit.com/r/dashpay/comments/5lpete/coinbase_taking_votes_here_for_which_digital/

You realize coblee is Director of Engineering at Coinbase, right?  He's a computer scientist with an MIT+Google pedigree, and I bet he knows that CTRL-P doesn't Paste.   Cheesy

The fact that Charlie Lee is positive about XMR is a good sign too:

https://twitter.com/SatoshiLite/status/823679389401387009

Imagine what would happen if Coinbase starts supporting XMR  Shocked.

Loving his take on Dash:
"Unfair instamined launch. Semi-centralized master nodes. Weak privacy. Marketing over tech. Not my cup of tea TBH."

ouch

I guess that means Coinbase isn't in any hurry to add Dash....  Cheesy

Proposal: Conferences & Travel - ICE Totally Gaming Conference in London

https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/proposal-conferences-travel-ice-totally-gaming.12855/

This proposal funds Dash's participation in the ICE Totally Gaming Conference in London, where we will present a combined payment and compliance solution for the gaming market with Coinfirm.

"Dash will participate in the conference jointly with Coinfirm to present a combined offer for the gaming and gambling sector."

Are you removing mixing from 12.1 too?   Pretty much no point in mixing coins if Coinfirm is logging every transaction as mixed or unmixed.  Once merchants/exchanges only accept the unmixed transactions, whoops just killed mixing.

From what I understand, mixed transactions will be evaluated on a case by case risk assessment bases. That was the whole point of the partnership, so having mixed transactions would not be an acceptance problem. With all the new laws being pushed Dash may end up being the only anon coin accepted in regards to mainstream adoption. This is a good thing.

Good luck finding another anon coin that won't run afoul of the law. What is your solution?

So even supposedly mixed Dash transactions still have distinguishing and identifying features sufficient for Coinfirm to treat them differently.

That's taking lack of fungibility to a whole new level.  Not to mention the 100% centralized nature of having Coinfirm Inc. function as a gatekeeper.

Of course since it reportedly takes hours or days to use Dash's abandoned and atrophied mixing system, nobody actually uses it.   Tongue
1008  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 25, 2017, 04:46:51 AM
Could anyone explain me why Dash is needed at all?

Is it not just Bitcoin + Lightning Netowork + some Mixing Tool ?

What is the difference between those 2 ?

And Dash is not fungible like Monero, right ?

Is monero fungible when you don't even know for certain how many coins are being produced due to an opaque block chain?

No Dash is very different from all of those projects.  Lightning Network is a separate network that you have to lock your coins to for up to a year to make it worth while.  Only those who buy into your chain can be traded with.  it's clunky and ineloquent.  Dash has everything as part of the core network, instant, fungible/private.  It puts the user experience first, not a bunch of complex add on networks that lock you in a corner and nobody will use.  The lightning network might as well be a way to color your coins and make them less valuable due to inability to pull out and convert to something else.

Lord have mercy, "isn't Dash just BTC + Lightning + "some mixing tool"?  Obviously you have no idea what Dash has done.  It's too much to explain here, but I highly suggest you play in Testnet to see how it works, and then if you are interested, read the papers on Evolution to see where Dash is going.  Where Dash is going would be impossible for any single tier network to achieve.

Because Dash lacks SEGWIT, it does not and cannot have Lightning Network or any other kind of payment channels.

Until Dash has SEGWIT its transactions are malleable and thus cannot be locked for use in Lightning type write cache schemata.

As for TS2's laughably incompetent and off-topic FUD about another coin, it's best to consult the experts at StackExchange.

http://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/692/how-can-i-verify-the-monero-coin-supply-without-using-a-block-explorer

Quote
Starting with v0.10.1, there is now a command that give you this information.
Code:
print_coinbase_tx_sum

Dash does not have a StackExchange because crypto experts do not find it interesting and its attempt to be listed resulted in failure (just like the Lamassu ATM, Mycelium, and Legal/Compliance Research projects).

How much is the initial setup cost for operating 1 XMR node? Ongoing annual costs?

Is it possible to set this up on AWS?

You could probably do it not only on AWS but on a very cheap (free tier) AWS instance or any number of cheap VPS providers. Syncing may be a problem especially on the latter due to high CPU load but if you sync once elsewhere and transfer the database it should be fine,

Or just run one at home, either on your regular computer or an old laptop. Unlike masternodes, XMR nodes do not require a static IP nor particularly high bandwidth at this point (in the future if and when things scale up that's a different story but for now it is easy).

If you are very price sensitive, an old PC or laptop is the way to go.  That costs nothing except your time.

You may use Netlimiter or similar to shape traffic and keep your bandwidth available for normal use.

http://alternativeto.net/software/netlimiter/

If you can afford $60/year, I had great luck on Vultr (they even let you mine!).  They have colos all over the world.

With this fund matching deal, the cost drops to $30/year.  https://www.vultr.com/match/

If you want to spend a little more and support the network (for The Greater Good), find a region with tons of potential users but few if any XMR nodes.

Right now, my top pick for bang/buck in terms of new users served is India, which has good internal bandwidth but limited external connectivity.

If you have any specialized regional/language skills, use them to figure out a good spot for our next full node.

If you have extra money, setting up a DDOS-protected high-availability node on koddos.net or behind a Cloudflare-type CDN (Mediatemple's and Rackspace's are top notch) makes a great contribution to the network's resiliency.

It doesn't matter if you like Dash, Bitcoin or even Monero. The Dutch trying to crack down on privacy is a big thing. People attempting to keep their own private business private is nothing to do with the police of any country. Totalitarian superstate trying to edge ever closer to full control. This is something that should unite people from various breeds of crypto. Icebreaker are you with us?

Don't try to play the 'But Muh Freedoms' card as a way to cover up Dash's deficiencies.

Masternodes exist for only one purpose, to facilitate unlicensed money services including laundering.

As a libertarian, I am personally against AML/KYC laws while at the same time respecting the freedom of association of Dutch people, which includes recognizing their right to pass whatever silly laws they wish.

You'd be more respectable if you pushed for the repeal of those unjust laws, rather than only trying to carve out a self-serving exception to them just so Dash Masternodes won't be shut down.

I will *never* unite with a scam like Dash in the name of privacy or anything else.

Including Dash in any movement, under any flag, taints the rest of the movement with Dash's fraud and scamminess, to the greater detriment of all authentic anti-authoritarian action.

Tolerating scams like Dash lets the enemies of freedom unfairly paint legitimate e-cash using a broad brush.  I will not concede that weapon to the other side.

In the battle for monetary choice and economic freedom, Dash is a liability for our side, not an asset.

I don't hear you crying about the legal crackdown on Paycoin and OneCoin.  Why is that?  Perhaps you already understand the wisdom of choosing your battles and carefully vetting your allies?

Many months ago, the Dash Masternode network 'blockchain democracy' voted to increase the max blocksize to 2MB, yet that change hasn't been made.

Doesn't that show Dash's governance model is ineffective at best and a fraud at worst?

DashHoles will move to Decred soon, where changes that are voted in are actually enforced through PoA on the network (Hard fork voting).

Decred is a DAO done right, not some thrown together mashup of broken technology and instamine like Dash.

I fully support DashHoles leaving the Evan's Gate cult for a legitimate project like Decred.

Decred didn't have an Instamine, nor is it 100% centralized under the dictatorial control of CEO/CTO/Chairman Duffield.

Decred does have hybrid PoW/PoS mining and intends to seriously and honestly explore the possibility of doing DAO/DGBB type things using stake voting.

Decred doesn't have Dash's Masterndoe Ponzi scheme aspect; there is no economically elitist minimum number of Decred requirement to run a full voting node.

Decred's large/friendly/active community is much healthier than Dash's toxic brew of uncommunicative project leaders wasting funds on unaccountable vaporware initiatives.

How can we get DashHoles to leave their cult and go into Decred?  I guess it's like getting a drunk into AA; they have to want to go and be cognizant of the fact they have hit rock bottom and need help.

I hope today's events, wherein 20 Masternodes being liquidated led to a 6% price crash, will be a wake up call for DashHoles as they extrapolate what will inevitably happen when 50 or 100 Masternodes are suddenly dumped.

We Mustangs aren't so galactically stupid and impatient to believe the nice folks of Greece are ready to use Monero for their retail/tourism industry.

The locals already have "an experiment to both get crypto money flowing into Greece, and to give locals an alternative to using the Euro."

It's called BITCOIN.

No, per your hybris you deem the nice folks of Greece too galactically stupid to make an informed decision for themselves.

Instead, you indoctrinate them that there already is an alternative means of payment: It's called BITCOIN, which they shall obey!

well then, why don't you just SWAT them all right away?

Come on, it is easy - you don't even have to leave your basement, just pick up the telephone!

Oh damn I forgot- it is only easy if you speak Greek. Did you happen to learn any before you dropped out of Okonomofuck High School in Wisconsin?

And can you locate Greece on a map anyway?

Yes, I am able to find Greece (and every other nation) on a map.  Thank you for your concern; please rest assured you can't come within 100 miles of touching my levels of education and knowledge.

I placed 2nd in my middle school's National Geography Bee (and only missed 1st because I got a much harder final question than the winner).  I also read (among other things) Thucydides' History of the Peloponnesian War and Herodotus' History for my Into To Greek Civ class, which was taught by a Oxford PhD professor at a school ranked #1 in Classics.  So I could easily lecture you on all aspects of Athenian and Lacedaemon culture until your skull collapses like a rotting pumpkin.   Grin

More recently, I spent a couple of years researching the mysterious origins of the Antikythera Mechanism.

Can you locate Antikythera on a map?   Wink

Now, where is your love for NAUT these days?  Are you sad because it turned out to be a scam, exactly as I warned you would happen?

Or did you dump while the pumping was good, and move on to other shitcoins?

I sincerely hope nobody in Greece actually fell for your Auroracoin NAUT scam.

I guess it's good BK didn't hype the launch, give all the citizens and businesses of Agistri a chance to buy NAUT cheaply but now I think NAUT is overdue for a big PR blitz.

Yes, let's make sure NAUT has a PR blitz just like Auroracoin did.  We saw how well that wave of hype worked out for Iceland!

You expect poor Greeks living on some obscure island to risk their meager savings gambling on a shitty new scam-coin.

That, right there, is your problem.

They need to be putting any spare drachmas into gold, silver, and lead.  Perhaps maybe Bitcoin and Monero, if they are well off.

But Nautilus?  No way.  The Nautilus team doesn't even speak Greek.   Cheesy

Even if you believed in Dash tech, you would be put off by all the corruption with core guys passing proposals that do nothing.   Legal, ATMs, ATM compliance.   All BS proposals with no updates except for some creative writing.
I couldn't have said that better myself.

This thread can summarize some of the problems.   Note that the thread is closed for new comments.
https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/dash-core-team-accountability-and-lack-of-communication.12567/

Your mistake was assuming you were participating in a normal FOSS project, when in reality the Dash community is more like a OneCoin or Scientology multi-level-marketing scam complete with insular, cultish us-vs-them attitudes.

Why didn't you listen to what vertoe said when she quit the project?  The lack of accountability and (meaningful) communication is 100% entailed by the top-down Duffield-centric hierarchy vertoe described in her magnum opus.

i left because i disagree darkcoin or however it will be called next year is not a decentralized entity. it never was but i ignored it as long as darkcoin was following the same path i was following. the path to total financial privacy. and thats why i am so upset about how this currency is lead by a single person. darkcoin is like an old conservative company with strong hierarchical comamnd structures and a single person on the top of the pyramid. evan duffield. the rebranding using a detergent name was just a step forward in creating something like apple or paypal. fuck this i tell you. what we need is a trustless, decentralized and anonymous currency. darkcoin is not decentralized as it still relies on a single person. and this reaches deep into the code base.

the core devs were just a bunch of volunteers exploited for the big thing. the extended darkcoin team was the same with even a lower place to sit on that pyramid. and what was the darkcoin foundation again? right, something to reserve some rights on some names and collect money. who nominated and voted for the foundation board? who does even know who are these guys? how did we learn about the foundation? from local news papers! the team listings kept counting names of people nobody ever noticed before. and they never committed anything visible to the community or the repository. and i was spending 25 hours a day monitory everything that happened in the darkcoin community for more than a year. the things going on here are fishy, intransparent and rely on a single entity.

i will get out and and will contribute to something decentralized and anonymous. i always hoped darkcoin could fill that void. i cant blame anyone to stay with this project. you are probably investors trying to win a gold donkey. or you are simply trying to exploit every possible vector of profit in the coins space. whatever. you are not here because darkcoin is something it claims to be.

if you disagree with my statement above, i dont care, but answer that simple question: what if evan duffield suddenly announces he quits the project tomorrow morning?

good luck

That was almost two years ago, yet here you are acting all shocked and butthurt about the exact same "Decentralization Theater" issues that vertoe laid out and have been sitting around for all to read.

You had plenty of warning about Dash's Scientology-esque attack-the-attacker responses to criticism, so stop whining and accept you got brainwashed by a cult (albeit aided by your own greed).

TheDashGuy also told you in no uncertain terms.

What the hell is wrong with this picture? i thought we were a decentralized project?

https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/what-the-hell-is-wrong-with-this-picture-i-thought-we-were-a-decentralized-project.9229/

Starting to look like an old fashion centralized company around here. I guess theres only 3 peoples opinions who matter.

I don't exactly support Taos proposal as is but do you see me over here hounding him about spamming or anything just because I wish he would focus on something else? Or treating him like an annoying child like you guys always do?

No.

So get off your high horses. just because you bought so many nodes early on Daniel doesn't give you any sort of ownership over this goddamn project.

It's either decentralized or it isn't. Stop mincing words and meanings. Stick to your shit and stop going back and forth. You guys are really starting to worry me with this whole attitude honestly. Sort of wish I would have done more research about the team before committing so much of my time to this shit.

Grow the hell up and learn some people skills, you guys are really starting to show your true colors it seems. Dictating the way things are going to go and literally making people look bad who disagree with you and or starting some shit about people being trolls.

Not really sure why I'm here honestly, I believed in a decentralized economy that would be more fair to the average Joe, thats obviously not Dash. You guys just wanna stack more MN's while thier cheap, then control the voting all the way through! Smart move!

Such bullshit. Go ahead keep wasting the budget on getting richer and when the whole goddamn project collapses we'll know who to blame.

At least you are starting to wake up and realize Evan's cult considers him above reproach no matter what he does (rebrand to Dash, abandoning DarkCoin's massive name recognition and reputation for some generic soap BS) or does not do (no 2mb blocks despite overwhelming votes for that feature), and you are never going to get that Golden Donkey.

Isn't it about time you started crying fraud, now that you are starting to see the fraud?

Or will you persist in maintaining the delusion that a cult's leader is somehow accountable to and obligated to communicate with his bagholding, Kool-Aid drinking followers?

Monero blockchain is declared illegal while alphabay is on heavy investigation from interpol it will exit scam no later than 2 months!!!Its time for huge dump guys let me see some shorters out!!

What? I only see that as being more positive for Monero. They are targeting centralized mixers like bitmixer.io, which also makes Dash masternodes a target.

Exactly.  A Dash masternode is a turn-key money laundry.  That's why they pay out ridiculous high-yield rates.  They are easily targeted as well, since only a handful of people control 98% of all masternodes.  Interpol will lightly squeeze Otoh and he will yield to the pressure like a fresh cream puff.

Thank goodness the cost of operating a full Monero node does not require surmounting onerous, egregiously elitist barriers to entry such as Dash's 1000 coin/$12,000 Masternode price tag.

Good job!

The hostility shown here and in /r/dashpay towards anyone asking perfectly reasonable questions about Dash's trusted third party security holes, atrociously slow mixing times, and massive instamine is ridiculous.

Of course I understand why the bagholding cultists need to discourage any mention of DarkSend's use of trusted third party Masternodes, ungodly slow mixing times, and pitifully small anonymity set.  If they don't, people start discovering inconvenient facts like this:

Disclosure: I am a Dash holder and I would like to see good test results but I will only note what is happening in front of me.

06:33 - 10 Dash - Start mixing process of 8 rounds

06:33 - tx fee (.00017440 Dash) mixing fee

07:29 - 8 Dash mixed 3 rounds

07:50 - tx fee (.001 Dash) mixing fee

07:59 - 8 Dash mixed 4 rounds - these are only the 1 dash denominations

09:10 - 9.1 Dash mixed at least 4 round - includes smaller denominations of .1 's

09:25 - 8 Dash mixed 7 rounds

09:37 - 7 Dash mixed 8 round

09:52 - 8 Dash mixed 8 rounds - Private Send can now be done using Coin Control sending 7.33 Dash (110USD) but you will have to send the entire 8 Dash since Private Send only uses whole denominations and and will not return your change but instead will use it as tx fee. So, we will have wait until at least 4 - .1 Dash denominations are fully mixed. Right now they have only been through 5 rounds.

10:07 - 5 - .1 Dash mixed 6 rounds / 6 - .1 Dash still at 5 rounds

10:50 - 8 - .1 Dash mixed 6 rounds / 3 - .1 Dash still at 5 rounds

12:51 - Looks like it might be stuck.  [LOL WTF?]

At this point, depending on your situation, you might want to suck up the $10.05 fee and get the transaction processed rather than waiting.  [LOL WTF?]
