301  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: labcoin lawsuit on: January 06, 2018, 06:52:24 PM
It can take up to five years to finish legal proceedings (including the time needed for investigation). Add to this that Italian courts and authorities are known for being notoriously slow in handling cases (sometimes this fact is used as a strategy by international lawyers to slow down proceedings in national cases, otherwise known as the 'Italian torpedo'). I think it is safe to say that expecting answers in a month time is very unrealistic.

We have an italian lawyer. He was paid at the start. He filed the needed documents but italian police was not able to find these guys. We found and contacted the mother of these guys, it's not a poor family, but when she heard the amount of damage he did the contact broke. Finally someone found that these guys were caught by the police for owning a reasonable amount of drugs and hiding in one of the family houses. I reached the lawyer by phone, he was interested but I did not hear anything from him anymore. So I guess nothing more happened.

So are you going to hire another new lawyer to sue the first lawyer? Grin

I only ask because you very much seem to enjoy throwing good money after bad.

Crying to the Nanny State Courts, demanding a second bailout for your self-inflicted ASIC gambling losses?  Really? Satoshi wept.

Your answer to every problem is to hire lawyers, which shows you don't at all grok the ethos of Bitcoin.
302  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How about community takeover? on: January 06, 2018, 05:41:59 PM
Bitcoin has no future without a blocksize increase. That is pure logic and not disputable.

Hmm, let's see how your BitcoinObituary.com FUD has aged over the past two years. Cheesy

UPDATE:

MAX_BLOCKSIZE=1MB (no change)

PRICE=$20,000 (up 10,000%)

So much for your "not disputable" "pure logic."  If you're going to write such specious pompous nonsense, expect to be held accountable and made the subject of mockery.

Um... with the use of Blockstream bitcoin gets fixed? That is not a solution. That is NOT using bitcoin. Nothing more. It's avoiding it's use and tunneling transactions into an altcoin.

And Gavin came up with that because we already know that at the end of 2016 we will have full blocks. It would be too late to act then. Not to mention that bitcoin would die instantly when amazon would decide to accept bitcoin payments tomorrow. Because bitcoin could not handle this amount of transactions. The new users would have a terrible experience and that would be a huge hit for bitcoin.

No, there is no way around raising the blocksize limit or even dropping it completely.

I'm no fan of hearn for sure. And i don't like that gavin went to hearn. But as far as i read nearly no one supporting xt wants all the other stupid things hearn wants. So it is only a vehicle to get the 8mb blocks. Then they would use core again.

UPDATE:

BLOCKSTREAM=STILL HERE
YOUR FUD = BTFO & REKT
303  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How Does Dash's DAO Work? | DASH: Detailed on: January 06, 2018, 05:05:21 PM
Dash's DAO does not work.  All it does is fund scams and vaporware and stupid shit like Acrobatics Man and rain panchos.

EG, Dash's DAO funded Evolution development years ago, but the "January 2016" demo Evan promised is now two years late, with zero accountability for the poor project management, dearth of meaningful communication, and complete lack of deliverables.

Dash's DAO couldn't even get Dash ATMs working (something Bitcoin had in 2013 with Lamassu), nor could it deliver Dash debit cards (something Bitcoin has thanks to Coinbase SHIFT).
304  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] IPO of MaidSafe:  Entering the Future of the Decentralized Internet on: January 06, 2018, 04:52:54 PM
Community Engagement Program v0.4

We are happy to announce the CEP (Community Engagement Program). The purpose of this process is to match developers with immediate and fundamental SAFE Network requirements. This will take the form of a community funded ‘kickstarter’ like process to encourage developers, designer, animators, content creators and others to bid for projects, either as teams or as individuals. MaidSafe has set aside a significant amount of MaidSafeCoin to contribute toward these projects.

https://safenetforum.org/t/community-engagement-program-v0-4/19432

This is yet another red flag indicating MAID is a scam.

Using an obnoxious euphemism like "community engagement" for what is functionally just plain old-fashioned marketing is the hallmark of crypto scams.

Why not have a working product that people want to use instead of misleading them with hype for vaporware?

You know who else markets (oh sorry meant to say "community engages") vaporware to noobs?  Dash.

Dash's Evolution and MAID are the two biggest vaporware scams in crypto.  At least Tezos and IOTA have real communities and devs with demonstrated competence.

Troll species going extinct here or what? Getting nervous a little. Step up please, I want to see that troll strength index increase, so I could expect another price jump. Walonek where you at bro???

Troll behavior is meant to take advantage of your emotions. There's not nearly enough fear right now for them to capitalize on. However, when the price falls below 50% of the ATH, the noise will start to increase. In a way, trolls are a representation of our inner uncertainty, which grows stronger as external reinforcement declines (deep, isn't it?).

One you have seen the cycle a few times it is kind of uncanny.  Early on I would attribute this to paranoia or confirmation bias.  But like I said... watch the pattern enough times and it becomes pretty obvious.

Can confirm my independent observation of this pattern.

Not only in XMR; I knew ADA was about to moon very hard because of everyone (including people like coblee, who should know better than to FUD a possible replacement for PoW) screeching about how "overpriced" and "hyped" it was.

The cries of "zomg overpriced" were just sublimated self-hatred for being too lazy to watch the Ouroboros video and thereby missing the boat.

Same with XMR.  The whiners and trolls are simply self-identifying losers who can't comprehend the concept of fungibility (or grokked the Monero ethos too late for Massive Gainz).

Can't wait to see what Kovri will do for XMR's status in the Bestestest Privuhsee Coyn EVUR circles! Cool

What's the potential impact from Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities to Masternodes running on VPS or Cloud platforms?

https://aws.amazon.com/security/security-bulletins/AWS-2018-013/

tldr; if you had coins in a Masternode hosted on shared VPS they're probably already gone (should have used a Dedicated Instance)

I still have coins in a masternode that's hosted on shared vps. i'll let u know when are gone. stay tuned!

Proof?  Signed wallet and Masternode IP please (for 'research' purposes)! Wink

Too bad DashCore never got around to making Masternode blinding work.  Now Dash users have to worry about zombie Masternodes controlled by Spectre invading their privacy and stealing their coins. Undecided

Possible "workaround" for #spectre on @AMD. Run a CPU #Monero miner, low priority, using all cache, and the Proof of Concept misses all bytes. Works on my A8-7410, my Xeon E3-1245 fails. More testers?

What is Digmine?

Digmine is a botnet that mines monero and spreads through the desktop Chrome version of Facebook Messenger. When opened on other platforms such as mobile, the malware does not operate as it is meant to. Digmine has been discovered in countries such as South Korea, Philippines, and Thailand.
311  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 04, 2018, 08:21:30 PM
Unlike Dash, however, a key aspect of a Bank of England-issued token would be control over its distribution and supply by the central bank, something that operates in a fashion opposite to that of Dash.

Sorry but that's just not true.  Evan Duffield has demonstrated his complete control over the parameters of his Dash project on at least three separate occasions.

1. Evan could have relaunched after the disaster of the initial Instamine, yet he elected not to do the obviously right thing.

2. Evan later arbitrarily reduced by 20% the total emission of Dash, thus greatly compounding the rich-get-richer effect of Masternodes staking Instamined coins.

3. Evan suddenly and arbitrarily rebranded the Darkcoin project to Dash over the objections of bagholders and devs like vertoe who resented having their Darkcoin roadmap taken away and replaced with a brand stolen from dish soap.

The Bank of England has many more checks and balances within its governance structure than Dash, which is merely the vanity project of one random dude who treats it as his personal plaything.

At any moment Evan may again decide to change the brand and/or emission.  Nothing is fixed in Dash; Dash is only whatever Evan does.  Nothing more, nothing less.

Source:

Anyone who's been around long enough knows nothing in Dash is ever set in stone and we listen to the community. Last time we removed the block halving we received a lot of crap, here's the problems with yearly halving.

- It's too fast and could destroy the coin
- It's way too much (50% per year)
- We already have formula for controlling the supply

Let's have a vote!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=525093.0

Wow, governance via BitcoinTrollTalk polling.  Of course most of us realize Evan only listens to the Yes Men sockpuppet side of the community asking him to do whatever he wanted to do anyway. Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Where is the option to vote for a fair (IE announced ahead of time instead of a ninja ambush) re-launch with NO INSTAMINE?

314  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: January 03, 2018, 07:35:55 AM
how does dash feel about ada ... given its seems to replicate the governance model.....

Given ADA putting Dash's market cap to shame, I'd imagine Dash bagholders are very salty about Cardano's rise to power.

Of course DashHoles can't really complain about replication since Dash imitates GreenAddress with InstantSend and imitates Coinjoin with PrivateSend.

Cardano's governance model is much better than Dash's.  For one thing, it's been formally verified.  Plus Cardano doesn't have that massive, problematic Instamine that Dash suffers from.

Cardano is more decentralized because it costs less to fully participate in the system (CONOP) compared to Dash's million-dollar-Ponzi-nodes.
315  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN] Stone - DAG Data-Structured Private Cryptocurrency on: January 02, 2018, 05:31:47 AM
would anyone like to suggest a fair method of distribution? I'm not interested in large holders gaining most of the supply, i don't approve of these pump schemes. I've been pondering around a multi-method distribution, similar to a bitcoin airdrop, but with using multi currency snapshot 70% to XRB/BTC, and with the remaining 30% to donators. This is just a thought, please don't be afraid to suggest idea's.

Sounds good to me.  Ouroboros research shows how crucial an honest staking community is to keeping the system functional.

My idea is to piggyback on existing patterns of well-distributed coins.  So Stone enjoys as long and fat a tail of initial stake hodlers as reasonably feasible.

20% Donators
20% XRB hodlers
20% BTC hodlers
20% LTC hodlers
20% DCR holders (well-executed airdrop, "8,793 entrants. 3,244 successful participants" https://forum.decred.org/threads/airdrop-rundown.313/ plus years of very cheap coins)

Dash users are unwittingly being exposed to HODL worthless Tether Tokens via unregulated centralised exchanges and in wallet Lock(TM) features!

Read more: https://medium.com/@untetheredbtc/how-the-tether-usdt-distribution-system-works-84a5c673bec0

The basic claims made in this article:

Many accuse Bitfinex of manipulating BTC price by using unbacked Tethers to buy BTC.
Bitfinex own and control Tether.
Tethers (USDT) are not 1to1 backed by USD < 10%.
Bitfinex and Tether do not have reliable Fiat banking partners.
Tethers are unwittingly / unknowingly held by thousands of people in wallets via Coinapult Lock(TM) feature.
Bitfinex et el refer to USD instead of Tether.
The bank at the centre of DASH and Bitfinex is Cryptocapital which is not a Bank!
Cryptocapital are unlicensed and uninsured, using entities as banking partners who are known criminals and scammers.
CryptoCapital offer services to many exchanges and are the same people behind Coinapult.
Coinapult claim to Lock BTC or DASH to USD, which is actually unbacked Tether USDT.
Coinapult Lock(TM) is incorporated into the Mycelium wallet as well as DASH, Safello and many others.
DASH have incorporated the unreliable fiat banking solution provided by the people behind Coinapult / Cryptocapital.
Roger Ver is very knowledgable about Tether despite claiming not to be since being an investor of Coinapult, Safello and Kraken all connected to Coinapult.

EXTERNAL TETHER AUDIT is planned for 2 Jan 2018!
EXTERNAL USD AUDIT is planned for 6 Feb 2018!b 2018!

Uh oh, this doesn't look good for Dash.  What is the point of Dash governance when all it does it fund scams? Huh

Act7 Enter DASH

At the same time that Coinapult integrated with the Mycelium and Tender Wallets and Ira Miller started working on Dash integration, around that time we notice that Coinapult stopped communicating to the general public via Reddit and Twitter. It appears the focus at Coinapult shifted from trying become a retail exchange service to instead focus on integrating the Lock(TM) feature into as many crypto ecosystems as possible via business to business partnerships.

Was that part of the deal approved for funding by Masternodes?  Did they know how sketchy Tether/Coinapult/Ira Miller/Roger Ver are when way back when they voted to fund this? Huh

Act10 Connecting The Actors Together

An interesting method of connecting these projects together is the using technical repositories listed on Github built by and maintained by Ira Millers teams. Of interest is a dead exchange project called 1btcex which has CryptoCapital branding all over it, is built on an open source project called WLOX, WLOX was developed by Ira Miller for CryptoCapital, as can be seen on the CryptoCap GitHub page (archive). 1btcxe.com (archive) is hosted on the IP 104.25.146.101 which is the SAME IP hosting address for CryptoCapital (at time of writing).

This is unfolding badly for the hundreds of thousands of people unwittingly hodling unbacked Tethers Via the Coinapult Lock(TM) Tether feature included in the popular Mycelium wallet and Safallo exchange. The young and innocent Dash evangelists and all the other wallets who are intergrating this popular feature. The New Dash Evolution (incarnation Version 2 of Dash) is already totally exposed by integrating with this toxic banking network and reliance on these unregulated exchanges and Tethers. I cannot be sure how many other exchanges and wallets are using this Lock(TM) and the fake Tether USDT / USD but these alone could easily account for the 1 Billion in fake Tether Holdings.

Sounds like Evolution is already doomed, long before it gets even remotely near to actually publishing a spec/whitepaper (much less actual working code). Tongue

The public deserves to know how many Masternodes are owned by Tether/Coinapult/Ira Miller/Roger Ver and if they voted (despite conflict-of-interest) to fund this scam!  Is this (yet another) a way to launder Dash Core Club insiders' millions of Instamined coins? Undecided
317  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [DASH] Dash Price and Trade Discussion Thread [UNMODERATED] on: December 28, 2017, 09:10:35 PM
Why is nobody celebrating here. DASH is @ 1,194$!

Nobody here is celebrating because the price of Dash is pumped using fake Tethers.

And the imminent implosion of Ira Milller's fake bank scam is terrible news for Evolution, which was supposed to integrate the Lock(tm) feature.

After Bitcoin has gone to zero....the ashes of Bitcoin....

That's enough BitcoinObituary.com FUD for today.  Please remember you also believe "The rich get richer and the poor get poorer - it is a fundamental law of network economies." Wink

Good to know Core possesses the godlike powers required to break fundamental laws of network economies.  Perhaps Satoshi lent his Infinity Gauntlet to gmax? Grin

Didn't you predict that by now most transactions would be taking place on the 2X chain? Roll Eyes

Radically transparent Bitcoin's ultimate destiny is disruption in the realm of macroeconomic concerns like central banking, while radically opaque Monero's purposes are microeconomic (relating to individuals and firms) in nature.

Bitcoin and Monero are perfect complements, perhaps the greatest pairing since salt and pepper.

Shorting monero == financial desaster? Well if you remember correct I shorted XMR after AlphaBay's implementation and the following hype. The Bitcoins I made with that are nowadays worth more than 9 Million dollars. Shorting is good it brings liquidity and attention to a market.

Didn't TheKoziTwo pay you to leave and never return?

Trolls returning = bullish!  Cheesy

As we enter Peak Hyper-Bitcoinification, XMR gets flung forward like a slingshot and Meta-Monerotization ensues...

That post aged well...
