I have also noticed that although the main windows says v2.0.1 the About Diamond-Qt states 2.0.0.0. The debug window also states that the client is 2.0.0.0. So which is what?

This is probably an oversight. The client version is now v2.0.1, which affects wallet file version etc. It is more related to the features the wallet supports. But the display version has been left at 2.0.0.0 which is irrelevant and is only used for display purposes. These should be fixed for the next release as to not confuse people.
Don't really understand why the original bitcoin wallet had two version numbers, an legacy quirk. (not only that, but it had these defined in a number of different files)

PS: I intend to build myself an Mac wallet soon, and will check your experience.

Noted. I find it ironic that it's you who is answering some questions that should be answered by the admins of DMD. Anyways, once again thanks.

es the DMD Dev team have anyone in charge of "External Relations". Could be a position to manage the contact with (meaning slightly harassing) Exchanges, Comparision websites (whattomine, CoinWarz) and bloggers/crypto-websites. And not to forget that there should be a good contact with the devs of Groestl coin so that any issue is adressed swiftly and accurately.

what sence would a foundation make if its not focusing on such tasks  Cool

we active in all that directions but we follow a priority plan

and pre mintpal we want to have the new wallet released

get traded at mintpall will add momentuum we aim to combine positive effects

chances are existing we dont have to go trough the voting process

as old coin in new clothes we deserve to be there and lot people with connections share that opinion

we will trigger that connections in time

go trough voting is plan b

and prepare that by spend some clicks sure is helpfull too

whattomine list us (and high ranked)

coinwarz didnt last time i checked and we wrote another mail to them

So I have a DMD deposit that never arrived in my wallet... was there a blockchain switchover/fork or something?

I have tried to sync my wallet on both mac and PC but the DMD are not showing up in my account

I tried the block explorer for the txid ....returned null values Huh

Thoughts?  Any feedback would be appreciated!

@kyma, do you have any new information or updates on your issue? As you know, I have almost exactly the same issue  ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.msg6752105#msg6752105 ) and mine is still "Being Processed" and they refuse to give out any information at all - refuse to respond is really more accurate.

The Diamond block chain has struck due to an attack. It was decided to prematurely fork it and switch to Groestl hashing at that point. Surely, a lot of transactions have been canceled and some mined blocks too (I know to have mined two blocks myself during that time, that got orphaned).

Your DMDs are (back) at Criptsy's wallet. You should open a case with them to have the coins returned to your balance. Or, they should demonstrate where that transaction went..

@danbi, do you have any suggestions about how to further pressure Cryptsy?

this transactions didnt happen
the dmd involved stay at the wallet of the sender
cryptsy have to add them again to ur DMD balance
u can only solve this with cryptsy support

and yes we know how hard this can be......

I think you're forgetting to add the interest rates in your math. Wink

Btw your calculations are ok and the original post were saying well with the total PoW coins: you need also to calculate the 1% of premined coins to add there. Wink Don't think should be any bug.

Devs. Any update on PoS?

no POS rewards until next wallet release
but u can gather coin-age already!
every day coins are in your wallet they gather coin-age

once new wallet is released u will be able trade in ur gathered coin-age for 50% (per year)
(the unlock wallet button in wallet = activate mint button)

this include unspend coin-age from old coins (pre groestl algo fork) too

delay in release wallet with mint mode active wont reduce ur pos rewards at all

not a single day coin-age u gather now (or even pre fork) will be lost

please keep in mind any transaction will destroy all gathered coin-age of involved coins
so if u leave ur coins at exchange they wont gather any coin-age for u
(once u withdraw them from exchange towards your own wallet all coin-age of them would be reduced to zero)

we know POS is one of the most important coin feature
and we sorry that u have to wait until u can enjoy the great feeling
when u get this "mint" transactions where ur diamonds in wallet increase by just hold them...

the reason POS dont work now is releated to blockchain and old POS atempts pre groestl hardfork
new pos atempts are connected to last pos blocks in blockchain

basical we carried over a bug from old dmd wallet which we did hope to get rid off with new wallet

in testnet this wasnt dedectable because pos by itself works just in connection with old blockchain its stuck

we will unstuck it in next wallet release

dont worry we know how important that is for our beloved coin
we will fix it! but without hurry!
with heavy testing and  release when we can guarantee it works in real network too and not just testnet

edit:
why it took so long for us to update you regarding POS status
because we did spend a lot time to research the reason why it dont create POS rewards
and we dont wanted to tell ya it doesnt pay out POS rewards and we dont know why
(it could have been as some of u estimated a forgotten pos trigger which  was still set at 400000 total coins but this is not the reason)

we know now why and we work on the fix

we could have waited one or two days longer with this announcement and lets popshot write it in proper harvard english
but i guess u wana have the infos asap and care less for the wording as long as the meaning is understandable

Hi
When reappear information about Diamond Online http://www.coinwarz.com ?

we did submit them all required infos but it sure dont hurt if multiple people ask them to get dmd there updated

http://www.coinwarz.com/contact

i suggest write this:

Diamond is updated to run now with  groestl algorithm
all actual coinspecs can be found there:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=580725.0
a blockexplorer is running under:
http://dmdchain.cyber.si/

please activate diamond again on coinwarz and update specs and algorithm groestl for profit calculation

I'm trying to move my existing scrypt DMD pool over to groestl but can't get block submissions working. I'm using nodejs and keep seeing:

"We thought a block was found but it was rejected by the daemon"

I'm using the coin settings:

{
    "name": "Diamondcoin",
    "symbol": "DMD",
    "algorithm": "groestl"
}

Tried enabling TX messaging as well, same problems. Does DMD work with node? I have a Groestlcoin pool that works fine on node, am I missing something? Do I need some groestl algo setting in my wallet config? Checked my wallets debug log and can't find anything there, can't even see a submitblock at the same time as node attempts to submit.

stratum need to build the block with foundation share included or wallet wont accept it

u can start ur research here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=581065.msg6442550#msg6442550

all charity and foundation share coins need the stratum to be adapted in a way that the pre-build block from stratum include this transaction

we as foundation dont run a own pool so we cant give setup support
but there are pools that are working already maybe u can get info from their operators regarding foundation share stratum modifications

and its called [DMD]Diamond not Diamondcoin

to add a multipool nothing have to be changed in coin setup

just make a scrypt based multipool

this way sha256 asics mine direct
scrypt asics mine via multipool

gpu/cpu do folding

Thanks for the reply cryptonit.  Looking forward to the new update.  I know English is not your first language but you've done pretty well so far except for the use of the word "coinage" and I think it confuses people.

In English, coinage means the total amount of a coin issued.  For example: "The 1930 Australian Penny had a total coinage of 1500" (a very rare and valuable coin).  You are using it to describe how long since the coins were mined as in coin + age.  English doesn't work like that (yes it is a funny language).  "30 days from the date of mining" is much clearer than "30 days coinage".

thx for feedback  i didnt know that
so i will use coin-age from now on to represent the age of the coins  Cool
even it have a special meaning and is amined at the unspend coin-age

Quote

no its not the time since the coin was mined

coin-age is the unspend age the coin gathered in your wallet
each time a coin is part of a transaction or u minting pos rewards with this coin it spend all his coin-age

your coin-age must be above 30 days before u able to claim any POS rewards in minting mode
6617  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 16, 2014, 08:09:48 AM
Would someone from the dev team like to answer the question?  It's not really all that difficult to clarify I would imagine.  The 400,000th coin should be minted in about a week.  I'm guessing that blocks are ahead of money supply due to a fork earlier in the coins life when some blocks got skipped.  I've seen it happen before.

Looks like the devs need to clarify the situation?  Is it 30 days after block 400,000 or is it 30 days after minting (pre or post algo change) ?

As I understood from the first post, POS will start when money supply will be more then 400 000 DMD.

Not after 400 000 block.
good one  Grin Can you explain the difference ?

result of the - getinfo command in the wallet:

.....
"blocks" : 403436,
"moneysupply" : 387564.87036400,
.....

Looks like some blocks cost less then 1 dmd. Maybe it was in the first version of Diamond.

in the past of the coin there was a time with pos 1% active and created a lot below 1DMD blocks
thats the reason why total coins isnt sync to blocknumber.

in fact staking happens already but not successful creating rewards
this will be addressed in next wallet release.

every coin u have in ur wallets gather coin-age each day
with next wallet release u will be able convert that coin-age into POS rewards (=minting)

we have a testnet running where we already runing on a wallets that did run through a few code reviews and code adaptions

for now it looks good but we wont release it until further testing is done

one forced early release did hurt us enough
we have no need to release update wallet early and untested

network as it is now run stable and smooth
mining works pool mining works transactions are fast and secure

next release will polish code in lot areas but mainly focus on POS which is the core mechanism of diamond evolution

aby idea why GRS cpu miner dont work on DMD?

Dear Diamond developers, miners, community!

I think that it is a problem that even though Groestlcoin and Diamond are using the same hashing algorithm, the miner applications are not compatible.
It is creating confusion for the miners. The change in the stratum mining code is trivial, but you'd have to do it and recompile a miner every time it is updated.
Also, I believe this will make it difficult (impossible?) to do merged mining in the future.

I think that it is possible to fix this situation now, when there are no exchanges, just a single pool and low network hashrate.
You can make a fork and switch from sha256(sha256()) to groestl512(groestl512()) in block hash.
That will make all miners compatible.

Thank you
srcxxx

welcome to our sisters and brothers from groestlcoin!

thx for step in here and share ur opinion srcxxx
i will try answer from my point of view regarding this topics

MINER
sph-miner will add -k diamond as a standard switch into code
and all their new miner releases will be compatible with diamond
same will happen for most other mining software (i think there is already a diamond combatible cpu miner and nvidia sure on the way also)

TRANSACTION HASHING
regarding hashing u seem to mix up something
both our coins use the same great block hashing mechanic groestl512(groestl512()) powersaving cool and silent
but regarding transaction hashing we did stay coin standard methode sha256d which nearly all coins use (bitcoin standard method)
groestlcoin did for some us not known reason change it to sha256
so basical while -k groestlcoin need two special adaptions in miner software (block algo AND transaction hashing method) -k diamond need only groestl algo  activated and beside that stay standard

MERGED MINING

regarding merged mining only block hashing is reused so our transaction hashing incombatibility wont affect this possibility

i hope u understand that in our opinion a possible cooperation and mergemine partnership is in no way related to transaction hashing
and we dont want to hardfork for that reason

but we are interested to hear opinions of our community regarding this topics too

feedback is like always welcome
