the flaw is the premine and a shitload coins for the future existing already and could be abused or hacked/stolen

instead of doing a premine they should have done a implementation

where each day 10000 cure are mined with sha256

and 8000 of it is send towards the folding reward distribution wallet

there a lot coins which have a mechanics like this implemented

called a charity share or a foundation share and so on......

this coins cant be abused/stolen because then not all exist from beginning but are slowly created day by day
6582  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Coin2.0 [C2.0] - The forward thinking POS (FPS GAME DEV. UNDER WAY). on: June 05, 2014, 01:01:27 PM
Out of interest what is the highest price a coin with 100m+ coins has reached?

Now tell me what reason they have to exist?

Then think of there being 700m online gamers worldwide and then take various small percentages of that and give them all say 10000-20000 coins each.

100m wont be enough to go around before long.

We need to stop looking at this from a crypto perspective. Just because 100m scares off investors on other coins that have no reason to exist it doesn't apply here.

We have already had successful stock market investors and businessmen piling in here and more are waiting in the wings. I don't just sit around in a skirt with a rifle all day you know.

There is massive interest from the real world. Proper investors who see the fundamentals. Not crypto investors who want jam tomorrow.

Whatever happens we are still going to make a crap load of money here.

dont forget u have a shitload .000000

so in fact with mC2 and µC2 we have more than enought coins for all gamers on the world with C2
6583  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sgminer - new unified multi-algorithm on-the-fly kernel switching miner on: June 05, 2014, 12:18:20 PM
please add -diamond option
with -groestlcoin u cant mine diamonds via stratum pool because grostlcoin algo dont use gen_hash()

Quote
Source code fixes to sph-sgminer published at https://github.com/danbi/sph-sgminer.

Hope to have it soon merged with the main branch. You can compile your own version. Let's hope someone does it for Windows users.

This is the most important code:

Quote
   if (gpus[0].kernel == KL_FUGUECOIN || gpus[0].kernel == KL_GROESTLCOIN || gpus[0].kernel == KL_TWECOIN)
      sha256(pool->coinbase, pool->swork.cb_len, merkle_root);
   else
      gen_hash(pool->coinbase, merkle_root, pool->swork.cb_len);

As you can see, Groestlcoin will go into sha256(), while Diamond will go into gen_hash()

i can confirm amd catalyst 14.6 did increase amd290 hashrate from ~9mhash to ~14mhash
i suggest every amd based diamond digger to update his driver

tested with this miner
https://mega.co.nz/#!bEVQFYCQ!99KjGDsNMWpXKqlfWdaWQxaRto-XxE-jj9liEs9ojTM

and following settings:
sgminer.exe -k diamond  -o http://dmdpool.digsys.bg:3333 -u cryptonit.1 -p 1 -T --xintensity 300 -g 1 --thread-concurrency 16384 -w 256 --lookup-gap 0 --difficulty-multiplier 0.0039062500
6586  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: May 27, 2014, 11:32:53 PM
You need one core/thread per AMD gpu used...

i run this cpu (dual core 4 threads)

http://ark.intel.com/De/products/65692/Intel-Core-i3-3225-Processor-3M-Cache-3_30-GHz

with 6x amd280

and fold with ~600000 ppd

thats a bit worse than the 110000 each card others posted
but still not that bad

so u can run with small performance loss below one thread per GPU

edit: cpu folding deactivated i removed the cpu folding slot

6587  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 27, 2014, 09:05:15 PM

cryptonit

thanks for the answer.
Does it matter POS transaction size, example - 1, 25 or 100 DMD?

and how to sort for withdrawing old coins (POS 30 days) and new coins, example which received 7 days ago?
In the following new wallet certainly.

POS will group small coin amounts
bigger coin amounts will stake on their own

in testnet we still optimize values so final values we will announce at release

regarding coin control i leave answer to danbi
my goal was to have a automatic mechanism who use for transactions always the coin pile where lowest amount of coin-age is lost
sound easy as a design requirement but seems not so easy as a task for  dev

now POS is not working? Sad

a bug from old blockchain is still affecting us
but we did locate the problem and test a fix and its behavior in testnet already
all coin-age u gather now is not lost
u will be able cash in all pos rewards for each day the coins are in ur wallet once we release updatet wallet
6589  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 27, 2014, 02:01:08 PM
Thanks mate.  Your never ending clip art collection is so much more informative than progress updates.  Really appreciate it!

Yes that's what he does best along with writing things very few understand. He wont change but he does expect people to trust DMD Cheesy

if ya wonder why im so silent next few days im away on a sailing trip
my foundation position was never designed as communication person

i accept ur feedback and will assign the btt communication towards dedicated person(s)
who will  maintain information flow on this channel

i take for myself the freedom to speak and post my opinion wherever i want
because i am not only part of the diamond foundation
i am also a private person with a right to speak and post

nothing can force me to post under a socket-puppet account my personal opinion

regarding update from dev team i can say that we still in testing/adjusting POS behavior in testnet.
(but this time with a copy of whole blockchain so we wont miss troubles which have their origin six months in the past)

I just scrolled up and didn't see anything relating to blame? I just said they were having problems getting it to work.
If the reasons were explained earlier by crptonit, there is a fair chance that I didn't understand what he was saying. Smiley

6591  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 24, 2014, 10:40:34 PM
@tyke

add exchanges
sharexcoin.com
allcrypt.com

add that its the first coin that use total coin amount triggers instead of block number triggers
to be able follow the coin rollout plan no matter how many people mint

and the estimate coin rollout time until 4.3 million are reached is 30+ years

all that time it stays a POW/POS hybrid security coin

edit:

i did read again through ur paper and it missed the info that since groestl actiove POS 50% is active too
which is also pretty unique to have max POS and max POW active simultan active in a 1.5 years heavy coin rollout phase (in this around 1.5 years we will reach total coins 1500000 ~35% of max coins)
(which it not now because a bug in pos minting required a fixed wallet release) but in theory it was the plan

6592  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN]CureCoin - Earn while you solve cures for Cancer. True 3.0 crypto on: May 23, 2014, 08:51:04 PM
biggest issue and working against a high price is that up to 10000 CURE have to be bought each day
and that wont change the next 4 years

instead of halve rewards all 4 years u could reduce them 25% each year

this still will be a hard first year

but better a hard year than hard 4 years

we did a similar change with diamond which had original a 8 years coin rollout plan with 1500 dmd each day

we changed it and rediced main coin rollout phase down to around 1 1/2 years and replace a lot of POW as major coin rollout mechanism with POS

for CURE u shouldnt reduce the folding component but u should rethink the sha256 mining part
and reduce the reward for that a bit and increase pos instead

u dont need big sha256 hashrate to secure network if u have a hybrid POW/POS coin concept
6593  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 23, 2014, 01:27:01 PM
and we are world first coin that uses totalcoin to be able trigger the coin stages dynamical depend on the minting behavior of stakeholder
if less people mint and more coin-age be burned at transactions dynamical the high reward POS stage stay active longer
because we not trigger ad a defined block and choose instead a totalcoin ammount as trigger
Could you please elaborate and further explain what you are saying here?
Please bear with us as we bear with you.

trigger:
activate a change in coin rules

example:
Quote
most coins use triggers like

block 1-1000 = 1000 pow reward
block 1000-10000= 500 pow reward

or

first year = 20% pos reward
second year = 15% pos reward

in the case of diamond coin rollout we have a phase with high POW rewards and high POS rewards (1.05 dmd each POW block AND 50% POS (per anno))

our goal is longterm to have a coinrollout running 30+ years so it is important that our triggers who reduce POW rewards and POS rewards kick in at a special totalcoin amount

and u cant just make a excel list check how much coins exist each month and add the 50% POS (divided trought 12)
and by this estimate how the amount of total coins increase. every atempt to estimate now at which block we will reach 1500000 coins will fail

why?

because people can never mint all the theoretical coin-age
each transaction destroy coin-age which will be lost for POS rewards
and there might be some people who never go into mint mode.....
(lost wallets (computer broke and no backup of wallet.dat as example) lost passwords and so on)

so we invented the totalcoin amount trigger which will change the behavior of all wallets once totalcoins reach a trigger value
(console getinfo money supply = total coins)

this way no matter if a lot people POS their coins or a lot coin-age is destroyed and not minted into POS rewards our coin rollout speed is not affected

if less people mint the high POW rewards phase stay active longer and the total coins rollout speed stay around the same.

try calculate some of the mushroom like appearing coins and their features
u will find out lot of them stop to work in months or even weeks because POW and POS phase is over......
and a coin where no new blocks are generated is stuck..... no new block=no transactions working

diamond is having endless hybrid POW/POS network security and block generation
diamond is designed to be at least 30 years working without design changes needed
and we have lot of time to implement early enought a moneysink to make it a endless running system

shortterm people complain about not big rewards in a few weeks maybe
longterm people will complain about dev-less coins broken coins misdesigned coin-features

diamond is all about longterm and avoid all that traps

im sorry if to be able explain u the reason behind the coin design desicions maybe give reason for another questions

but i will try my best to answer follow up questions

regarding the diamond coin spec design i am the expert and i am able answer every question

they where the basic requirements for our coders

im not a coder myself and that isnt required
to design coin features and coin behavior

henry ford said:

i estimate if we would have asked people what they want the answer would be similar

"we want diamonds with more value"

what we did was to implement features that give your diamonds more value
each diamond u mine or buy now will reproduce itself in the hot coin rollout phase
at least once so basical every dmd now count for at least two DMD longterm

6594  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 23, 2014, 09:27:54 AM

SIZE BID on craptsy at .00054 - 7337 left from an original order of 7555 -
Interesting. I wonder why they don't buy up that will bring the price high.

thats easy to understand
whales not aim to increase coin value
they aim to increase their share of diamonds

diamond its all about longterm investment

if ya seek one week profit u wrong here

it was not planed that POS activate have to be part of next wallet and not already working

but the market reacting with low coin value is a good opportunity for investors
(low value is relative still its 2x pre announcement of coin relaunch)

only miners who instant sell are hurt

investors and miner who hold coins  dont worry at all

please keep in mind after total coins reached 1500000 diamond POW rewards will be drastically reduced
the main coin rollout mechanism from then on is via POS and this alone should make clear
that each diamond u be able buy this days so cheap will pay off multiple times the money u invested

if ya ask me for my  diamond investment tactic i can share it with u
it is to buy into diamond with as much fiat u can afford to declare as gone (this is required for any crypto coin investment..)
withdraw from exchange into your wallet and go every 40 days 1 day into minting mode

dont even consider to sell this diamonds in the next two years

and after that 2 years i would suggest to sell in small pieces just that  much diamonds to get back ur invested fiat with some extra bonus

u should have still a big amount of diamonds left in your wallet after that

and this wallet is then what we always did describe as main coin purpose
a storage of wealth

6595  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Diamond (DMD) Evolution v 2.0 | NEW wallet, coin mechanics, 50% POS on: May 23, 2014, 09:03:40 AM
I know the DMD dev team states that they wished to replicate the successes of Blackcoin by swapping over to groestl and adding PoS to the system; but for the end consumer such as myself we need some form of benchmark for progress.

-With my BC wallet I can open my wallet for staking only, not unlock the whole thing.
-With my BC wallet I can see what my stake is vs the network stake is and an expected stake time.
-With BC there is a DEV supplied/supported/configured pool that functioned on standard protocols at launch.
-I also had to edit the Diamond.pro file to get the wallet to compile properly; boost library is specified instead of minimum.
-No Checkpointing system in place.  Had to sync the entire 410k blockchain from scratch.  Should have a checkpoint at the last hardfork.

Don't get me wrong, I've been a DMD miner off and on since I favor low volume currencies for stability in the long run.  I see potential in the dev support channel the way it's designed, and I can see in the market depth that the PoS is having the desired effect.  I just want to see my .05 being used to work out bugs, not reinvent the wheel.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the BC wallet is also open-source?

hi ashfallen0

thx for sharing ur ideas
our goal was never to replicate the success of blackcoin
but to write a own diamond success story

the combination of diamonds features is unique not a copy off
groestl algo endless (30+ years)  hybrid pow/pos with foundation support

and we are world first coin that uses totalcoin to be able trigger the coin stages dynamical depend on the minting behavior of stakeholder
if less people mint and more coin-age be burned at transactions dynamical the high reward POS stage stay active longer
because we not trigger ad a defined block and choose instead a totalcoin ammount as trigger

also our goal to host in the future a chain of merged mining coins to improve network security for them all and increase mining rewards for them all is a rare concept

another goal we aiming for is having a way for asic owners (sha256/scrypt) to mine dmd by make a partnership with a alternative payout multipool

but we understand all points u address here and in lot areas we aim in same direction
just we not gona clone BC wallet but instead will add in the future from all code-compatible wallets the "best off"
and additional  increase value of our wallet and code by find own solutions too

this will be a ongoing process the whole foundation is build around the idea to make sure diamond have ongoing development for years

Does the PoS already work ? I haven't seen any staking so far (4 or 5 days..)

if its based on PPC coins need 30 days coin-age to be able take part in POS

10000 coins each day have to be bought to keep value stable
thats not a small task

and need lot or marketing/promotion

and most important give curecoin a meaning beside supporting health sience

services that  can be bought via curecoin would be such a important step
or/and payout for work done in curecoins (which include the side who pay out have to buys curecoins first to be able pay out in curecoins)

such a behavior isnt only a multipool which payout in cure

it could be also some health sience bounties which are paid in curecoins

guess what a promotion it would be if the winner of nobel price dont win euro (or swedisch krones) but instead a amount of curecoins....

im just brainstorming im full involved in diamond but i like curecoin too so i just share some ideas with u
6600  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Emerald - EMD, a great cryptocurrency | Version 1.3 released! on: May 21, 2014, 12:44:13 PM
Hello, everyone.

I've been following Emerald as well as Diamond and Ruby Coins for awhile now. I think with current development in Diamond DMD it is time for Emerald to do something to attract more people into mining and owning the Coin which has tremendous potential. Change in Algo, more services and some marketing will be nice.

My two cents - I wouldn't change a thing, and would prefer that any new developer not change the basics of the coin either.  This coin perfectly fills a gap other coins don't have covered.  It's profitable enough to be worth while to mine, but not so profitable/popular that it gets pounded by multipools.  It's easy enough to mine to make collecting several thousand easily attainable for anyone, but low enough reward that a couple thousand still have value.

An argument could be made that maybe POS could be added to it to increase it's value a little, but it's a great coin to mine as-is, so going with a high POS reward, or switching to 100% POS like Philosopherstone is contemplating would make mining it worthless.  Why mine 100 or 200 Emeralds a day when you can just buy a mess of them and sit back and collect minting rewards?  Is anyone still mining ZEIT?  No, because it's pointless.  But I'm not selling mine, because just leaving it in my wallet collects far more per month than I could mine in a year.

Maybe adding a small POS component, like 10% per year, would be a good idea to prevent a 51% attack, but more than that would change the coin too much.

I would argue that if people want to see more activity in the community, they should get involved and promote it.  Making more people aware of the coin would be a great thing and probably drive the price up naturally.  I've seen one or two posts about people accepting Emerald for goods or services - a commiserative coin about Mt. Gox for example.  Bottlecaps has one or more vendors that accept CAPs for seasoning and sauces.  These examples can drive demand.  Getting a good website up would almost certainly drive demand - what exists right now is not going to get people interested.  Promoting in other posts can drive demand.  Hell, even someone pumping the coin in forums and chat rooms to dump their load of Emeralds can drive demand by making more people aware it exists, but switching the algorithm is not going to drive demand for the coin, and may drive people away.

As an example, I used to mine Diamond every day, and I'd get 10 to 15 per day.  They switched to Groestl and now I can't effectively mine Diamond any more.  I get 1 a day.  One lucky day last week I got 3.  Yesterday I got none.  I'm done.  I'll probably hold what I have to collect POS rewards, but I'm done mining it.  And the current price reflects the coin's demand.  It went from over 100k satoshi to 80k, and if they don't fix pool mining, I think it's going to go lower.  Damn shame, Diamond was awesome.  Now, if you don't have a rig with 6 GPUs, it's a waste of hash to mine it, because you aren't getting any.

Another example is Galaxycoin.  That was a good one too, as it was.  It used to cost 500 to 700 satoshi and it was easy to mine.  A new developer took over the coin, changed it too much, and now it's worth 125.  that was months ago and it hasn't recovered.

Emerald was all but dead a couple times, but it survives because it's good the way it is.  Changing it too much in my opinion would be a bad idea, and if it goes as poorly as Diamond is going right now, the change could kill the coin.

That's my thoughts.

we from diamond are willing to consider teamwork or even take over emd development

we seek a non pos long time POW coin which can join diamond in a merged mining project
this way both sides have profit

emd gain free promotion and increased hashrate = value increase
dmd gain (when our own pow rewards starts to be highly reduced and coin rollout is mainly pos) to have the merge mining partnercoins help protecting our network

required for this to happen would be a algo change to energy/heat saving groestl algorythm (combatible to  the diamond groestl implementation) something we did already with diamond and we could do for emerald too

if there is a dev spokesman or a community spokesman who is interested into deeper talking regarding such a possibility please send me a PM
