1121  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: Will precious metal coins return as everyday currency? on: February 16, 2019, 01:15:13 AM
I have a long enough while wishing for silver/gold coming back as currency but i would rather have a small combination between silver and bitcoin for example, I love the satori chips model, making coins of silver with small easy to peel coins by the say market where you buying which can later be refunded and set into circulation by the same company that unpeeled them, whatever is left can easily be sent on a "dust address" or perhaps a small silver wallet (like the unobtanium silver bar)
1122  Other / Ivory Tower / Re: A million gold bars were recast and converted to tungsten on: February 16, 2019, 01:08:43 AM
This might be part of the reason why gold jewellery has an effectively higher spot price than coins or bars; it's really easy to do a crude assaying job on a ring or a chain, providing they're not too thick. Just cut the thing gently with bolt cutters, and check if the metal is consistent throughout. You can't do that with bars or coins, you need an x ray machine (which most people tend not to have)

Spot value doesn't have much to do with jewelry prices, its the craftsman's time and material/machinery costs that make jewelry expensive. You'll get nauseous if you run the numbers on a $1000 2 gram 14k gold ring. Much harder to test as well. If you are testing a pure gold bar and find anything out of the ordinary, its fake. With jewelry you can get false positives or negatives depending on whats in the alloys.

That said, people counterfeit gold, not that strange considering the amount of money to be earned doing so. Its not all that hard to test generic gold bars, the trick is with testing things that come in plastic slabs, or collectible things that you don't want to ding.

I've never quite been able to understand why people compare bitcoin, gold, and fiat at all. Fiat is not a store of wealth, its a currency or means of exchange. If you don't like the fiat system, just keep as much cash as you need to pay your bills, and put the rest into a store of wealth. Bitcoin and gold are both stores of wealth, but completely different investments. Gold has traditional commercial and industrial value. Bitcoin has value for all kinds of complex economic reasons I'm sure I'd butcher if I tried to repeat. Bitcoin is more unstable than gold, but it also has a greater gain/loss potential. They are very different investment vehicles.

Mix it up, hold Bitcoins and gold, and buy from reputable dealers if you want piece of mind. Its not worth saving $7 buying a gold bar on Ebay, unless you have all of the materials to accurately test it yourself, and have the time to fight with Ebay customer support when you claim the bar is fake. I've got all of the testing supplies, and will still tell you, I still prefer buying from a large company that is safe.

Funny, a comment on the vid was claiming that the jewelry pieces are easier to check since you can cut them easily and no need to use for an X ray.

On the other hand the claim is probably fake, another comment on youtube debunked it by calculating that 1 million of bars of that size are about 50% more than what the american government has 4000 tonnes more.

It does look helpfull tho and perhaps a wise idea to cut the bars if it's not possible to use a scanner.

can any of your partners prove legitimacy? i like the idea of your coin so ill be pestering till each of whatever seems fishy is out or the coin itself fudded to death.

We have nothing to hide. Your sharp questions actually bring out more trust when answered. So I see that as a huge plus...

I have asked the CEO yesterday to ask the partners to bring out partnership statements with erecoin on their own social media channels. As soon as that is out, I will post it here in this thread. You are right, we need this in order to build a foundation of trust. Thank you for that idea and critical analysis. The BTT community is lucky to have you onboard!

But for the moment:

Here is an article about Beamler and Erecoin written in a very well known additive manufacturing Magazine: https://www.metal-am.com/beamler-and-erecoin-look-to-focus-on-blockchain-technology-for-additive-manufacturing/

I think the magnitude of Beamler speaks for itself and there is no need for me to provide proof it's real. https://www.beamler.com/

All I can say is that im really surprised its legit and... im in Smiley.

I must admit that besides your account being grown based on bumps and posts off the btc price thread the companies mentioned seem to be real and found nothing to negative trust you, grats

What is the main essence of the project? Does it consist in transferring 3D data? Is this the main task? But, such services already exist quite a few.

@cryptomeo: We didn’t forget you, we will reply to your question shortly Wink

@dzkrb1966:
Explaining the full vision would explode the thread, but I wil explain it shortly: Erecoin will offer more than a secure, transparent and global transfer of 3D data. It also provides a fully integrated system for additive manufacturing (“3D-Printing”), meaning it’s not only a digital, but also a physical project when it comes to the 3D-printers and printing results itself. The complete idea is available as white-paper on our website www.erecoin.io.

You havent said anything besides the obvious and im sure a bit of information would be nice, the roadmap says nothing.
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uQp0l584IOM_srqFDwRTYhWwbVntjxGc/view heres the whitepaper.

Only half going towards developement?
What does mean marketing and "sales" 200.000 eur in expenses¿
Then how is the bounty 2% when airdrop and bounty is 6% on the whitepaper with just a million added to the mount  for aidrop and bounty?

Their team seems pretty legit. But the collab with the mentioned partners from their website, do they have articles or any social media statement that will confirm their partnerships with erecoin?
Yes their partner sites made me pretty sketchy about it, i perhaps waited for too long but till im getting any answer to my earlier questions he will be redtrusted.

There is a total of 562 coins, perhaps a few more. I will update the post today/tomorrow with price on each coin.
Still any solution for the 8 mb upload top? id really hate to lose quality of the pics on the upload but i guess HD version is always on drive if anyone want a deeper exam.

1133  Economy / Collectibles / Re: [WTS] Old coins mostly spanish, a LOT of new pics. on: February 06, 2019, 08:18:54 AM
I agree with Lesbian Cow you would need to take individual
images of the coins front and back so that people can see
exactly what you have and what state they are in.

to clean or not to clean is a long running debate, personally
I like clean coins so that I can see the details of the coin rather
than the crap it has gathered throughout its life.

I didnt follow all the links you provided but judging from the
ones I did there are a lot of common coins which are not worth
that much apart from this:

Quote

There was only approximately 5000 of those coins minted, its
not gold or silver but the rarity is what is of interest.
Thats if it is this coin >

EBAY Listing number 333051181011

Yes most of them are pretty old and low on price, i dont want to deteriorate them by cleaning and most have details appreciable with 4x magnifying glass.. check the google drive folder for pictures of all the coins front and back, there is one which i took several pics trying to take a good pic of the shield which is amazing for such old coin imho.
check the drive folder, i cannot put a lot of the pics because their size are over 20 mb

Edit: wow thanks for that page there is a few coins from year 47' im not sure about that 46 but i could think i seen it, i will look at the years of emission of that year whenever i get to manipulate them.

1135  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ALL Initial Coin Offerings are Trash on: February 04, 2019, 07:26:04 AM
There's a lot of posts in this section "ICOs will come back", "Some ICOs are scams", "Should I do ICOs". These all contain the implication that Initial Coin Offerings are fine and dandy.

What type of information do you need to know that Initial Coin Offerings are trash the majority of the time? 80% of ICOs in 2017 were scams. To put that into respective, that's 4 out of every 5. The odds are terrible. Going by the rules of probability, you're going to be apart of the four of five. Why wouldn't you be?

The ideas I've seen with Initial Coin Offerings are just as bad. Why do these companies need $80 million in the first place? Let's be realistic, most things don't need to be on the blockchain. Satoshi didn't need to do an Initial Coin Offering to make Bitcoin into a bustling success. He started off putting in his own money. What do ICOs actually have to bring to the table?

The people that are making these threads with a positive implication are probably apart of the scams, or they're risking their money with the odds stacked entirely against them.

It's possible to have original ideas offered for free. Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin. Some people are simply blinded by their greed and short-term to try speculate on the worthless. No wonder bubbles are so rampant within this ecosystem.

1139  Economy / Marketplace / Re: Launching a Marketplace - What to lookout for? on: February 01, 2019, 07:28:58 PM
The Alpha version of the Atheneum Marketplace (AMP) will be launching soon.  It's our project's MVP.  The purpose is to create a free market ecosystem where instructors and students can directly interact without institutional costs.  For those of you that have launched marketplaces before (or maybe even utilized an alpha version of a marketplace) what unforeseen elements emerged for you that needed to be dealt with?
Its called openbazaar as far as i know, second version out, wish i were home so i could give you the exact link, will update later.
https://openbazaar.org/

open bazaar is good bitcoin marketplace but I think we need a very big crypto marketplace which may be much more famous
among the people.

Whenever I see or hear marketplace, the first thing that comes to my mind is Escrows. How is third party system set up in your marketplace though? This is one very importance aspect as you all know that buying and selling is very risky.

We need to devise a automated way of escrow which protects both the buyers and the sellers.
What does that have to so with the code, just feels you want power....

"Very big" not like bitcoin has so many consumers.
