1261  Economy / Economics / Re: Government & Bitcoin on: January 09, 2018, 06:23:23 PM
I've the impression that governments still don't realize how big will be the revolution created by cryptocurrency.
I think that - when they'll really understand, they'll try everything to control and stop this.
We'll see.

Agree. Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin are only beginning to make strides in the mainstream world. Once they become big and capable of handling all the world's payments, government might want to step in and try to destroy the whole blockchain ecosystem. Certain countries like China have already acted against Bitcoin by banning exchanges, ICOs, and most recently, Bitcoin mining. It will be only a matter of time before the banksters and other governments see Bitcoin as a potential threat to their centralized economic system, and do everything within their power to try and stop it.

Of course, this may seem almost impossible since Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies rely on nodes and miners distributed all around the globe. To be able to completely stop blockchain systems like Bitcoin, they would need to stop every single node and miner on the planet. So, in this regard, Bitcoin and other blockchain systems may become completely indestructible as more people join them towards making them stronger than ever.

Nevertheless, only time will tell what will happen with the future of Bitcoin and the government. Just my opinion Smiley
Thats bullshit, they havent banned exchanges and bitcoinmining, they have banned some exchanges and in "a future" limit or ban POW mining. First ICOs deserve to be banned and second POW is a waste of energy.

1263  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][CLAM] CLAMs, Proof-Of-Chain, Proof-Of-Working-Stake, a.k.a. "Clamcoin" on: January 09, 2018, 05:44:14 PM
Thanks. I've downloaded the bootstrap file, but importing is incredibly slow. I hope it can be interrupted and then restarted for the position where it stopped, otherwise I would probably not be able to complete the process at all.

Try turning off your Internet connection while it's importing. Does it keep importing? If not, you're not using the bootstrap file. It shouldn't be that slow.

If you stop and restart the client it will continue where it left off.

It says "Importing blocks..." and continues from where it stopped, but it is incredibly slow. Probably going to take several days at least. I'm running it in a virtual machine (as some other altcoins), but it is still too slow.

What is the expected probability/percentage of staking?
Estimated return in clams (NO COMPOUNDING) :: ... 41.0331677% return/year ... 3.3725891% return/month ... 0.1124196% return/day ... 0.0046842% return/hour ... 0.0000781% return/minute ... 0.0000013% return/second

I know nothing about probabilities but I do know that with small amount of coins staking outside of just-dice or other pool might be a bit unconvenient/difficult.

It may sound strange, but I have found about this coin only yesterday. Fortunately, I have found an old wallet.dat backup from the times I used the full BTC client (no bitcoins there anymore). Importing worked and I've got some Clams, but the client cannot sync. First it became stuck on some old block (almost three years ago). I have downloaded the blockchain from cryptochainer.com, and now the client just writes 'out of sync' and does nothing (but it shows 19 active connections to the Clam network). Of course, stacking does not work.
I don't know what cryptochainer is but https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=623147.msg9772191#msg9772191 there you got the bootstrap.

Does this coin still have active dev team? Their GitHub page does not work https://github.com/Rimbit, Forum is also gone.

Can somebody please help what is going on here?
On their facebook it looks like they were giving a way coins lately and rest of sites down.
Feels it died

1270  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why is DOGE pumping? on: December 27, 2017, 12:09:36 PM
A LOT of new people are getting into crypto. A LOT. Hearing about the "Bitcoin Millionaires" who bought Bitcoin at a couple cents, and want in on the action. They see that all these coins are expensive, and will go towards all the cheaper currencies. Such as DOGE, etc. In theory, all crypto that is easily accessible will inevitably blow up in the next 3-12 months. Lot of people are going for DOGE, as it is unique, and shows promising data.
Doge made a lot of people significantly wealthier and since it begun it gets pumped from time to time for the sake of the old days.

DOGE doesn't seem to be a good long-term investment project, but more speculative, so it's dangerous. I won't invest in this project
Aren't all cryptos speculative and dangerous? atleast with doge you dont have great hope and always get surprised, you know what you get.

1273  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Fee's too high? Lightning Network Will Resolve that? on: December 26, 2017, 10:20:56 PM
I really dislike LN, we need bigger size limit and lower fees, price is higher than ever yet miners are getting more than ever in fees aswell it's just unfair and is costing bitcoin a lot of long time users.

Merry Christmas everyone!

etr_bit_talk: Be patient with the transaction.. if you see remain stuck inform your exchanger.

I'm waiting confirmation from pools but until know no one reply's(its Christmas!). Soon, will respond!

Also, from last night the network almost doubled in hash rate power!
The last 2 days is impossible for my APU to give share in any pool!
We are growing!!

On bleutrade you dont even have buyorders at 1 satoshi.
1275  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who is responsable of these fees? on: December 25, 2017, 01:00:54 PM
Well i'm not using bitcoin till they donīt fix their shit.
As of now, there are no "descomunal fees". The mempool is down to the 100 Sat/b backlogs, so anyone paying over 140 sat/B or 200 sat/B is either overpayin g fees or he/she just wants the transactions confirmed as soon as possible. Unfortunately, the average joe doesn't know how to set fees and he goes along with whatever fees Coinbase or any other exchanges says.

Good news is the mempool should be back to normal in the next few days. So, be patient, you'll be be able to send your 5 sat/B transactions very soon.

https://blockchain.info/sv/charts/cost-per-transaction

... I seen blocks with 6 bitcoin fee reward, why all this sudden greed mining? Bitcoin price is higher than ever yet fees are growing also higher than ever. Transactions kicked out of the mempool and telling us that all our chances are in some lightning network bullshit, how did it work before? I feel that all that is happening is that a lot of people is trying to make people go away from bitcoin, some have done that already and even while chances are that bitcoin will prevale they are misscarrying it from it's initial purpose and ideal.

I'm a blind bitcoin believer.... I would like to know who is the responsible for these unjustified descomunal fees... I would like to shit at his doorstep.

Anyone still around? I lost access to this account (and I still have no access but seems that it stayed logged on this pc) besides that my life has turned around a bit. We still have over 10% of the supply for developement purposes and I have few fresh innovative ideas so we still searching for developers.

Cool, you are back, too. What do you think about integrating gambling into the blockchain itself, with the possibility to create and destroy coins by gambling?
You don't know how glad I'm to see you, I like the idea itself, and with the coin's being destroyed on loss it would be really interesting to see how the value increases. On the other hand I really love the idea to let community decide stuff thru voting, whatever is we agree on is what our goal become, there is plenty of stuff that can be done at long term, if you get onto slack I'll let you know the latest thing I had in mind Tongue.
Edit: We actually have a DC wallet done, a clam clone with same address format as bitcoin, however I kinda fucked up losing access to my 1anduis address, I think we just need another genesis block and perhaps a node, can have pc on all day tho.

I need to know how many of you lost access to your XCP accounts since you will use the same private key of the corresponding BTC private key of the address holding the token. If you want a different address for the distribution than what you had on xcp you need to contact me privatelu.
