161  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 23, 2016, 02:19:36 AM

their loss our gain

R3 as a way to brainstorm about how it could be done is just outdated
if there are solutions like NEM that show how it can be done

+1

Completely agree!

This method of "thought process" is epidemic in our age.  How many committees, intellectual think tanks, bureaucracy talking circles, workshops, et cetera, must there be before something is decided on and then implemented?  It is usually a sign of a dying society when there is all talk and no action.
162  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 23, 2016, 02:17:38 AM
That "fella" had at least 3 million XEM.  What you suggest is no different than saying bail out for bankers, rich and elites.  Good riddance to him.  We should be focusing more on the ordinary man, not the new bankers of crypto.

At this stage of the game it's still microscopic and it needs to be supported. There's no more than a few thousand people involved and anyone getting wiped out costs NEM an ally.

3 million coins doesn't make anyone a psychopathic bankster. It was a few grand. And it would've eventually been spread far and wide. Someone with that much skin in the game is going to work a little harder than some guy on Poloniex with 500 XEM on his balance.

guys i need no support to get back the 3 million XEM
all i wanted to say is that as someone understand correct

XEM in fact have a deflation

with zero new coins generated and more and more coins overtime will become non-access-able
only gods know how many initial shareholder for example already lost access to their coins
not all of the coin spread group where experienced crypto users and chances are high many lost access to their coins

in fact i was lucky and recovered most keys beside one so the loss for me is just a lessons learned to have more frequent and better backups

may this be a warning for that of u who didnt backup in a while....

I've had quite a few tell me they lost their coins and that we should give them a new stack. :-) It's not going to happen.

There should never be a bailout for holders.  Ethereum is a failure in integrity.  Ethereum classic will always be classic.  Ethereum on other hand can fork indefinitely and even decide to arbitrarily seize and liquidate holders.  Maybe Ethereum foundation can issue a "tax" on holders to fund itself.  Another way, more stealthily, is to give themselves a considerable percentage of PoW / PoS for free.

We almost need to invent a scientific term in the crypto community - something like litmus test or grandfather paradox but for capitalizations following big scandals like MtGox and DAO.  Bitcoin has yet to recover to MtGox $1250.  Ethereum has yet to recover to its' high of $15 before DAO.  I don't think BItcoin nor Ethereum will ever recover to their former glory and  yet, because the market can't rationally decide to move on, we're essentially frozen in time until a big actor bets on a newer horse.

Worse yet, when those big actors bet on intellectual masturbation organizations like R3, which is all talk and no work.

How many years does it take before people realize the old capitalization will never been recovered?  Well it's been almost 3 years since MtGox. . .

This shitcoin Aurora died years ago. Shut up.   Angry
164  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: NEM (XEM) Official Thread - 100% New Code - Easy To Use APIs on: November 22, 2016, 04:07:30 AM
NEM is overall deflation.  Anytime someone lose their private keys, there is less XEM to circulate and everyone else becomes richer.

That's said a great deal about Bitcoin as well but unless everything's circulating all of the time it's a bit of a reach.

Either way I'd prefer to be a little poorer so the unfortunate fella can have his private keys back.

NEM is about creating an egalitarian future for all people.

165  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can other cryptocurrency ovetake bitcoin inthe future? on: November 21, 2016, 09:53:01 PM
Ethereum is essentially a Zombie.  Ever since the DAO, and like MtGox for Bitcoin, will ever hit $15 again?!   Huh

If something overtakes Bitcoin then it has to be scandal free.  Monero might do it if they can put Rpietila under house arrest..

Yup.

Any alternative needs to be
a) scandal free
b) quick to confirm (under a minute)
c) able to handle a large volume of transactions in 24 hours
d) not require people to download mega amounts of data that fills up their hard drive, just to run a wallet.

There's arguably already a bunch of projects which have those characteristics and no one is hopping on them yet.  In order for those characteristics to matter, the alternate first has to hit $5+ billion and this means playing the speculation game which only a handful of projects (Ripple and Ethereum) had ever seen any modicum of success at.

166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why the hell is it poloniex doesn't add waves? on: November 21, 2016, 08:12:53 PM
It always comes back to first impressions and networking.  Poloniex added XEM at their launch and kept them listed, even though XEM's volume dipped below $1000 for the longest time.

Waves obviously is not liked by the people who run Poloniex and thus you'll never see it get added.  Cheesy

but at least i was not dumb enough to not buy lot more XEM at 35 - 40

Sound money and religious implications has been a personal project of mine, within cryptocurrency.  Did you know there has been fatwas and declaration of haram against Bitcoin?  It usually comes down to easy replication, as there are 1000s of QT-shitcoin clones, and Bitcoin's inflation.   When we seriously evaluate the state of cryptocurrency, what projects do not have inflation?  10-second tangent and then back to the topic, why we are all suckers in hopping onto these inflationary platforms?  Inflation is a tax on the non-rich.  The religions of the book, including Islam and Christianity (although not many follow the principles anymore), knew inflation was a scam.

I had been collecting empirical evidence on NEM users and NEM userbase does have a lot of Muslims.  There were many swarming the Facebook pages back in 2014 and 2015.  Today, the most NEM-users per capita are based out of Malaysia.  Malaysia is actually the leader of Islamic Finance.
http://theconversation.com/islamic-finance-goes-global-but-malaysia-still-leads-the-way-27347
It is not a coincidence, because NEM is the only halal cryptocurrency.

Does NEM promote itself as a halal or Muslim coin?  Definitely not.  And I would say it goes both ways too.  The many Muslim users in NEM do not proselytize about Islamic principles.  Nevertheless, at some point, I would like to get affirmations of support from religious leaders in Malaysia.   Smiley
169  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I've been warning you that this is going to happen on: November 18, 2016, 11:24:34 PM
OP assumes people here are able to make an ethical judgement, when most are already self-identified Libertarians with sociopath tendencies like hostility towards anyone not a middle-class, middle-aged, white male.

Anyhoo - sure OP, and I don't think it is restricted to CoinBase.  We have 2 major alternatives, Monero and Dash, which are structurally and philosophically designed to enable pedophilia, ransomware and other criminal activities - CoinBase might be harassed by the IRS but we will see a higher response applied to those alternatives.

171  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can other cryptocurrency ovetake bitcoin inthe future? on: November 18, 2016, 07:59:00 AM
I think NEM will be the number one cryptocurrency.  NEM is the first coin intended to be egalitarian and it had a fair distribution to 1000s.
172  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is Zcash worth to invest in it? on: November 18, 2016, 07:55:44 AM
Why Dash when there is Zcash?  Huh

174  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Are we in a bubble? on: November 18, 2016, 07:29:35 AM
Some coins had seen actual utility this year - especially the DNMs like Monero and Dash.  There could be fundamental demand increasing and this is a rising tide which helps all alternates.

Otherwise, compared to 2014 which was squeezing blood from a turnip, it has been a great year.  Cheesy
175  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best cryptocurrency to invest for 2017 ? on: November 18, 2016, 07:27:26 AM
Gulden could very well had been the best ROI in 2016?  Wasn't it complete gutter trash sitting at $300K-something and it later hit $15 million?  500x ROI is not something you see everyday.
176  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stupid coins: The importance of the name on: November 18, 2016, 07:25:14 AM
Ethereum also contains a "th" sound, which most non-English speakers are unable to produce.
177  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Trump said he would not take the persistent's salary on: November 14, 2016, 02:14:17 AM
The salary is hardly the biggest cost of the position.  The security detail, the best accommodations when travelling and private transportation far exceeds $400,000 a year.

178  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: GEMZ - Unmoderated thread on: August 26, 2016, 01:49:33 AM
TaunSew here,

I almost invested in Gemz but exposed Peled and his accomplices pulling an illegal bait and switch on investors.  This was your first and only warning to had pulled out of Gemz before it was too late.  Anyone who had stayed in this project was blinded by simple greed and all the magic tricks done by Peled & accomplices.

179  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DAO Critic Praises Ethereum Hard Fork Success on: July 22, 2016, 01:10:48 PM
Appeal to authority.  Why would a Professor of Computer Science be taken as a credible source for something in the field of Cryptography?  "BRB, will go ask my dentist if I need heart surgery or if I can just walk it off"  Cheesy
180  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / My involvement in Steem on: July 22, 2016, 01:04:39 PM
I left NEM over a year ago and went off to Bitshares.  I got involved with Steemit pre-launch and now it's amazing to see it become a big success in cryptocurrency.    Grin
