They said they sent out 53 units prior to the 28th of January, they knew by Feb 2nd if they made it out of the country or not.

Seems like Avalon have something to hide. And i bet that something is that they spent all batch#1 money on development and only produced a few units. batch#2 will be funding batch#1 orders.
*Ding Ding Ding* We have a winner!

I'm glad I didn't order an Avalon unit.............I'd be REALLY PISSED by now,not having a tracking # for my shipment or even an email explaining why that wasn't done Plus NO POST in any forum explaining anything related to a shipping update Yeah, BitSyncom is too busy arguing with Kano in this thread to do any actual Avalon work.

No, of course this won't color his review! heh.
And this is somehow different from Avalon giving Jeff and the Foundation each a device? Jeff may have paid for his, but he still got the first one...out of 3(?) units so far. Anyway, if you really think about it, at this point Kano's visit has pretty much lost it's intended purpose. Which was to prove whether BFL was real or not. At this point they are about to ship....so what is the point in that again? It becomes a rather redundant effort and probably a waste of money.
Yeah, unfortunately I agree here. The point before was to see the process in action...not touring the facility as they supposedly pack the final units for shipping.

You are pissed off because we haven't got around to release source code yet or the fact we did not giving you a free unit?
Ha, this made me laugh. He rises from the dead to post in the BFL thread while ignoring all the questions in the Avalon threads. Good choices BitSyncom

This thread is science fiction
Given enough time, research, and development, science fiction has a habit of becoming science fact.

Remember, I think awhile ago it was confirmed that the ASIC orders start at about Order #1500-ish. True that 6K chips does not mean 6K Jalapenos.
I too was just trying to figure out this math last night and wondering how many of each unit would potentially have been orderd, along with all the false order #s (just due to how their ordering system would increment).
Well...I made a quick excel sheet with data gathered from the preorder thread, specifically from June through the end of August. Totals come out to: Jalapeno - 157 Little Single - 18 SC Single - 228 Mini Rig - 21 Multiply in the chip counts per device (speculated, and noted above in the thread) and you get around 6253 chips. There are tons that go unreported, but given Josh's statement that they're break into the August orders, my guess is about 50% more orders than we've seen so far...bringing us to 9380 chips to cover June through August. Obviously just a rough guesstimate, but I figure it'll work for now until we get more data.

Any chance we could get the front page list updated? Seems to be out of date by almost a month...

By my estimate, the "BEST CASE SCENARIO" cut off date for BFL's batch #1 is for orders placed on or before August 16, 2012, or order number 5515 or lower. This will give you a ballpark idea if you will receive your BFL ASIC from the 1st shipment of chips.
Let's hope you're right...seeing as I have my first order placed on the 16th and at 5467 Umm.. have to burst some bubbles here folks.. but that was 6,000 CHIPS in the first batch.. This does not equate to 6,000 orders. each unit has multiple chips ....
And there aren't 6,000 orders in the first batch...there's only a few hundred. Just because you have an order number over 6000 doesn't mean there are 5999 orders before you...

Ticket #25, created 1 month ago, remains untouched.
And so it shall remain!

Dreams: They will deliver! Reality: More delays Precisely my thought process as well I voted yes, solely based on maintaining optimism. Every other sign points to 'no' haha

Those hashes look pretty volatile. Looks can be quite deceiving. The hash rate is completing within it's normal range, especially given the substantial increase in USD/BTC value. It'll be vastly more obvious if there were more ASICs hashing.

Exactly how small/is was Batch #1?
300 units, supposedly.

FYI I've got my plane tickets to BFL - Kansas City today (email booked digital ticket details from the travel agent) arranged by Josh So my flight to the USA, leaving Sydney on the 17th Feb (my time) - to be back here in Aus again on the 23rd. ... so I going from Oz (Aus) to Kansas (City) ... isn't that back to front? That's quite the trip! How many days do they have you touring the facilities? Anything specific on the agenda?

Someone said it seemed like Avalon themselves was posting it (self-promotion sort of thing). *shrug* That's what I heard as well. It could have been the "demo" video before sending it off to Jeff. Anyway..2 or 3 doesn't matter when they're supposed to have 100s out the door by now.

Because the outcome of your investment doesn't necessarily effect me, my recommendation is: Go Big or Go Home(less). Bet it all on Bitcoin and let the wheels of fate decide your outcome

After Shipping a few weeks ago, how many ASICs from Avalon are in the wild now?
2 confirmed Jeff and the Foundation must be enjoying their new wealth given their the only ones with ASICs for now.
|
|
|
[That is a very normal variation you are seeing.
Sure. Many turn on their GPUs again because of growing price. Hm, none would answer that the Avalons were being received and people started hashing. I've turned on my 7970 this past week. I had assumed the ASICs would be shipped by now. Indeed, and I've turned on my 'ol 6870 once more to do a bit of work for me. It isn't much, but it's back to being profitable again.
