61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: March 23, 2016, 09:59:40 AM

Same thing happened to me few hours ago although I have 3GB GPU (280x). I deleted all my files in Ethash folder and restarted a miner - works normaly now.

That worked for me thanks

There is no way to do sharding of smart contracts without breaking the Nash equilibrium that creates a majority consensus instead of many competing forks.

Hi, Shelby!   Smiley

Considering that you have spoken kindly of Lucius Gregory Meredith (publicly) and have recognized him as a competent academic, I am having difficulty accepting that his comments on this issue are based on false pretenses.

Personally, I believe this is the only issue worth discussing further in this thread.  Meaning, discussing potential solutions (if any) and whether it is feasible for them to modify their plans (if they don't hold) in a satisfactory way or not.

Too bad there aren't any posts coming from qualified members of the other side to keep the conversation going...   Sad

You don't build something worth $1 billion... by arguing with angry keyboard jockeys that have built nothing.

There is quite a concerted effort by a few posters trying to bad-mouth ETH in any way they can. Just look at the multiple threads started by the OP for instance.
63  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GAW / Josh Garza discussion Paycoin XPY xpy.io BTCLend LNC. ALWAYS MAKE MONEY :) on: March 19, 2016, 05:16:07 PM
Hashlets were confusing. I was trying to figure out how gawtards figured it out. For fake mining it was very complicated. I guess I couldn't figure out how to set it to mmpool, hence the scam. I just wanted 10ghs free. I still don't know wtf waffle pool was and why gawtards chose it. It didn't even exist, why would they mine there? Demand slush or something.

The worlds first digital miner!
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Pools (Altcoins) / Re: [ETHEREUM][EXPANSE] DwarfPool - stable pool with PPS system. on: March 19, 2016, 05:15:09 PM
something is messed up again
since the 17th diff and pool hash rate hasnt gone up much but im about 10% down on shares per hour plus the % of the round is about 25-40% smaller
normally ill delete dag and restart and it will somewhat get better but now its just staying the same or getting worse
since shares are less effected but the actual payout per hour is dropping significantly

I haven't seen that myself, getting about the same 24hr as usual.

Ethereum Co-Founders Vitalik Buterin and Joseph Lubin to attend //Build 2016, Microsoft's largest developer conference of the year. Exciting news to come!!! build.microsoft.com
Lotus Notes, Netscape Navigator, Novel...Will Ethereum be next on the long line of MS preys? If you hear Microsoft is interested in some 'technology'... run. Don't walk. Run!

MS are panicking because of Linux ever accelerating adoption. They desperately look for new business model. Take care!

You get sillier with every post

Buy the rumor, but sell the news!

Yup, pretty standard.

I think they are getting burned big time by the ETH rise they have to payout on.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum mining still profitable? on: March 04, 2016, 02:00:39 PM
Much of the original point I tried to make has evaporated in light of ETH >.015BTC (.017? .019!?! .02!!!), electric costs should be a non-consideration for most. That said:

But that extract fan power consumption is due to the mining as well. So we have to take that in to account.

100% GPU TDP on 970 = 145W

Do the math, break it down, here's the numbers:

Overclocked, maintaining <70C core temp (high fan profile):
gpu1 (incl. fans on card): 108W (75%TDP)
gpu2 (incl. fans on card): 115W (80%TDP)
4 case and 2 cpu fans, hdd, mobo/cpu: 50W (case fans ramped to 60%)
Total so far: 273W
PSU loss: 55W (80% efficiency; 0.2 * 273 = 55W)
273+55 = 328W, or basically what I've monitored on the UPS
42MH/s, 7.8W/MH (total system), 5.3W/MH (gpus only)

Stock, maintaining 75C core temps, stock fan profile, both @65%TDP:
gpu1: 90W
gpu2: 90W
case fans+hdd+mobo+cpu: 30W (silent pc mode)
Total so far: 210W
PSU loss: 42W
Total system: 264W
36MH/s, 7.0W/MH (total system), 5.2W/MH (gpus only)

Something I'm going to try is disabling Windows Aero. Even though it's a headless system and it's not doing anything, some have mentioned it stealing GPU power all the time regardless of use, therefore decreasing hash. I've seen weirder things, especially on Winblows. God, I've got to roll Mint or something.

I've seen the "my 280x will do xxMH on yyyW with zzzV undervolt" before, I still have no clear idea because so many things play a factor in pushing the limit. I've seen people today who own multiple rigs, running mixes of 7950 and 280x, undervolted/clocked/tweaked/whatever, drawing over 3KW to get 350MH/s (9W/MH!), and they're happy with that. To each their own, ETH's at .02BTC, electric ain't much of a matter no mo.

I think I'm done with this particular thread.  Grin Grin Grin Lips sealed Lips sealed Lips sealed Tongue Tongue Tongue  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I have 4x7990 undervoltaged to 0.95 V, 850/1250MHz. It does 156MH/s with 1320W from the wall, So that is 8.46W/MH/s.

you can do better with six 970 = 1020w for 132 megahash, this is 7.7w/mh, and this is also a more cheaper rig

4x7990 = £1100. 6x970 = £1500. So it is more expensive to use the 970. Maybe the 970 will hold value better.

If you are looking to sell it later yes because it will play newer games and that is one of the secondary markets for these things on eBay other than miners.

Pool is Kano, there is nothing to do with mining pools, tried disable my CentOS box only 701 706 707 708 failover to pools2 BW.com, no sign on 702 703 704 705
I don't know but likely something gonna be happened soon.

How can you rule out the pool and the china firewall? I know you don't want to hear it but everyone has said it before that if you're getting these miners you should point at F2pool or antpool or another Chinese pool. Pcfli should just say that too at this point.

Ladies and Gentlemen, we have been thru this before!   You know what to do.

Carry On

Ethereum Ethereum ETH
Last price $ 8.3813272

What do you suggest we do, Mr Carry On?

Sell and buy back when it's lower?
77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Ethereum: Welcome to the Beginning on: March 02, 2016, 01:07:56 PM
As I said earlier:
BTC = MySpace
ETH = Facebook
Cheers!

Ethereum ETH
Last price $ 7.2479386
% +14.94 %

The price is $8.1 now. Where is the limit for the price rise? Did the Homestead release have so big effect?

It might have been the Microsoft news
78  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: B-Eleven sha-256 ASIC miner on: February 28, 2016, 01:51:51 PM

So likely they have extremely cheap electricity which would make sense.  And once they get a better batch of chips I suspect likely it's a easy switch to put new chips in.

It may of course not be their electricity cost, but the Hash Investment carries a charge of 0.5 CNY/KWh which is about 8 Cents. So far from Cheap?

Rich

Same thing with Hashnest. They profit by obtaining cheap power then charging customers over 8 cents per kWh.

I agree they charge customer far above what they actually pay I think.  I am willing to bet they pay a few cent's..... and charge customer that 8 cent's.  Makes for extra profit for them.

There is no way hashnest pay's 8 cents even after cooling and everything.  They are well below it (I suspect at least in China mines).

Yeah no doubt about it, that's where their money really comes from.

Unless there is a reseller in the US I won't be touching these. The Ukraine is like the scam/hacking leader of the world.

On another note, I have always voted for Spondoolies equipment and would enjoy seeing some news on miners. Is there any way we can see an Easter egg hint dropped soon?

There is no miner
