The whole problem with the rail idea is not so much the actual building of the rail network, although that in itself could be expensive... The problem is rather obtaining rights-of-way. From experience, this is also costly and fraught with red-tape. To do so you have to convince all the owners of rights-of-way to agree with your terms, as well as zoning commissions, and municipalities, then there is liability exposure to think about and the cost for underwriting it... A high bar for entry.
Do it at night when no one is looking. But seriously, you're right. So pizza delivery boys/girls it needs to be then.

After a little time making a face for the site we've finally got something to get started on. The address is http://glbse.comYou can download the client using git(click download to take you there), you'll need python with m2crypto installed. Currently it's only really been tested at all on Linux systems. The process is simple, just run the command to see the options available. Here's the wiki link, any bugs should be reported here for the moment. https://gitorious.org/black-market/pages/HomeStill missing features:- A way to see bids and offers
- A way to see latest trades
- Creating resolutions for shareholders
- Paying dividends to shareholders
A way to see shares listed on the exchangeAll buy, sell, trades and cancel orders are posted to a twitter feed.
Any feedback on the general site design? Oh a point to note, the exchange will be using twitter to list trades (in much the same way as mtgox uses irc). I'm going to bed. Soooo tired

Loans are currently a little problematic. As thevalue of the currency rises over time.
This was highlighted when we were chasing stevenbuck for money he'd pretty much defrauded some users, many many months ago.
It was about 10,000btc, and worth about 200usd at the time, but only a few month later that value rocketed as the value of bitcoins relative to usd rose.
That could be a nasty poverty trap.

Yes, have a look at this, https://gitorious.org/black-marketPython This is a client for the soon to be released bitcoin stock market, and it needs to be made easy to install on Linux and Windows. Build a distribution package (especially for windows) that would be super, I'll pay... 30bitcoin I'm updating that source code at the moment so just let me know if you'll do it and then wait about a day. If I see correctly this a command line program? Are you updating it to include GUI? So the idea is to get the basic functionality done on the command line, this will allow others to use it as a library(kind of), once we're happy with the command line client we'll be doing a native GUI. And then for those more interested in convienience than security a web based client.

This reminds me of the Tanenbaum–Torvalds flame war about whether Linux should be monolithic.

Could result in a double spend by the first party to connect to the network.
But don't let that stop you, anyway transactions of that size are currently ignored by the network.

Thats a pretty good article, doesn't go too much into detail on the technical side (thus not getting bogged down).
I'm a little afraid now, this is the first step to bitcoin going mainstream. I feel like I'm in the first car in a rollercoaster, right at the top of the highest drop, looking down. I know it's going to be ok, and we've worked to get to this point, but it's still scary.
Hold on for a wild ride.

Delivery service.
Mucho extra points for anonymous and secure.
To co-incide with this, bitcoin base drop box that others can deliver to you.

Holy cow, that is a big file, you won't be able to email that.
You're going to have to think of some other method to share it.
Good work though.

It would be easy (and cheaper) to build a device that rides on rails. Weight and range wouldn't be an issue. It could be be autonomous very easily.
Not a bad idea actually, a monorail, something as simple as a pole that runs along the side of a few buildings would provide a local area delivery system that could be reliable, quick and safe.

Being based in China I dont really have assess to services outside, and it's difficult/annoying to try to send money abroad.
With bitcoin I've paid for a VPN, which allows me access to banned sites (Youtube, Facebook, Twitter, and now GMail).
I've formed a company with other bitcoin users to develope and launch a bitcoin stock exchange(launching next week).
I've paid developers, bought several domains, and two VPS's.
Bitcoin is really the best way to do business online, it's just the best. Hand down.
