West Ham is not really bad in their performance, they might be lucky in the game because Liverpool have not been consistent in their previous game. Liverpool have better chances of winning winning because they have done so far this season than West Ham.  Liverpool has so much missed opportunities of increasing their point and if they should loose this one again that means their target for the season won't be possible to grab.

If Liverpool win the game against West ham tomorrow that means their hope for them in the Premier League championship.  Arsenal and Manchester City still have some game to play and winning these games is not sure, anything can happen along the line.

West Ham isn't playing very well in the second half of the season, but as you said Liverpool is having their own problems, which are quite big actually. The situation for Liverpool is quite desperate and if they don't win that game, it would mean the bitter end of a season where they thought they might be able to win it all.

Top 4 position is probably safe for them, but there might be still some hope left that Manchester City and Arsenal drop points in any of their games. Liverpool has the worst goal statistics, which makes it an even bigger problem for them.

You can never tell whether there was a problem.

Who really thought that Liverpool would lose points?

Everyone thought that Inter Milan would deliver a perfect winning rate from now to the end, but it is nomal that these guys lean back at some point and are tired and do not want to go further!

After the dominance of Juventus, Serie A has become a competitive League. Having different Champions each season is an exciting football competition to watch. Maybe Serie A can be said to be the most competitive League in europe top five league considering other leagues have almost the same champions every season.
Really, at first I really thought that Juventus could really be brilliant this season. But in fact it didn't go as smoothly as they said at the start of the season. Yes, maybe at the start of the season, Serie A was very competitive, even Inter had to really chase very hard to take over Juventus' position. Because at that time, Juventus was really on fire and was able to stay at the top for quite a long time.

But after that, it became very bad when Juventus completely lost their enthusiasm and motivation, and even seemed to lose their style of playing football. which meant that after being taken over by Inter Milan, Juventus' performance got worse and worse, even now it is much worse.

I had the same impression at the beginning of the season and for quite a while I think Juventus kept up with Inter Milan quite well. But in the first half of the season everything was indeed fine and they had 46 points after 19 games, being 2 points behind Inter Milan. In the second half of the season they have gathered 18 points in 14 games... That is nowhere near the performance they delivered during the first half.

@FabrizioRomano
🚨 BREAKING: Arne Slot will be new Liverpool head coach replacing Jurgen Klopp at the end of the season!

Agreement sealed on compensation between Feyenoord and #LFC, all set also on contract details for Slot.

Here we go. 🇳🇱
https://x.com/fabrizioromano/status/1783945607075213644

@FabrizioRomano
🔴🇳🇱 Arne Slot will be the most expensive Dutch coach ever as Liverpool will pay compensation fee around €13-15m.

Details will be completed on paperworks over the weekend.
https://x.com/fabrizioromano/status/1783954080898924845

I am not excited by this appointment but I guess I will get behind him and support him.

Hm, I agree with you. I am not really sure what to think about that as I thought they would go for someone more established. Or someone who is more similar to the character of Jurgen Klopp. Klopp can be a volcano and he knew how to get the Liverpool fans heated up and going. I can't really have any prejudices though as I have no idea who this guy Arne Slot is except for the fact that he did well with Feyenoord. I am probably spoiled when it comes to coaches from the Netherlands as the first guy who comes to my mind is ten Hag and I think he is garbage as a coach.

Manchester City just turned up the heat with a solid performance of demolishing Brighton 4 goals to nil away from home , and at this point am starting to think this edition of the premier league could be decided by goals.. and Arsenal is well covered in that department unless the Citizens go on a winning spree just to kill off whatever hope is left in the Gunners who are so certain that this will be a photo finish... Otherwise let's just say this race isn't over just yet Tongue

Manchester City to lift this one will bring peace unlike allowing Arsenal to take it

I saw that coming. It is the same as last season when Manchester City accelerated towards the end of the season and kept winning for as long as it was necessary to win the Premier League title. This wasn't coming out of the blue. They won't let Arsenal develop an advantage and I think Guardiola will tell his team to not even stop when they have a 3 goal lead. Eventually, the goal difference could play an important role and become the decider. Arsenal is +8 vs. Manchester City and played one more game. But I can see how Arteta is already having bad dreams about Arsenal missing another title right before the finish line.
27  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UEFA Europa League 2023/24 Season on: April 25, 2024, 09:02:38 PM

The semifinal match between Bayer Leverkusen vs As Roma is certainly the most eagerly awaited because this is the most intense semifinal between the two teams. For Leverkusen, this is a revenge match for last season because they also lost to As Roma in the semifinals and Leverkusen also has high self-confidence in this match apart from the fact that so far they have not been defeated in the domestic league.

For As Roma, this is the fourth semifinal in a row and last season they made it to the Europa League final but As Roma failed to win the Europa League after losing to Sevilla. Apart from that, AS Roma's journey in the Europa League this season was also not easy, they managed to reach the semifinals because they managed to overcome all obstacles which were not easy and AS Roma managed to get rid of Feyenoord, Brighton and finally AC Milan. Of course, this is good capital for As Roma to break Bayer Leverksuen's unbeaten record.

I think the revenge aspect is what makes this game kind of special, but there are many other circumstances that make this an interesting one! Roma is doing well since Mourinho left and Bayer Leverkusen is still unbeaten. It would be out of this world if they can finish this season without a single loss while playing three competitions simultaneously.

But as you said, it is a revenge for what happened last season and it is a great example how these games can play out when everything is running against one team. Leverkusen was dominant last time and lost and I think they will be dominant again, but this time it is all about achieving a different result. I like De Rossi, but I am hoping the best for Alonso.

Atalanta defended well. They played the way they were supposed to and managed to hold on for the epic 3-0 win. They must be very happy right now because they eliminated a tough opponent, a team that was considered the favorite for the cup, Liverpool. This gave them confidence and why shouldn't their next opponent be Leverkusen? This year could be a dream season for Atalanta. They can repeat the joy experienced by Sevilla this year.

They defended well against Liverpool and they have had an amazing efficiency level on that day. They are in great shape and were able to confirm their uptrend in the Coppa Italia today. I am sure they wish they would have done better in their domestic league as chances are shrinking to finish in the top 4, but there is still a lot to play for for them and a backdoor chance to make it into the Champions League if they win the Europa League! Very ambitious, but not impossible!

Man Utd is once again breaking the hearts of their teaming supporters tonight. Of all the teams in the world, it is Sheffield Utd that is leading them by one goal to nil in first half. What is more frustrating is the fact that Man Utd is playing at their home, Old Trafford against a small team like Sheffield Utd that is already set to proceed to relegation. If Man Utd cannot win such a small side, which team will they then win? This is why I find it funny when some people count Man Utd among the strong resistance to Arsenal winning the Premiership title this season. The reality is that Man Utd should better prepare for next season because this season is not favorable to them. Before I finished typing, Harry Maguire scored to make the match a one all draw at half time. That does not remove the fact that Man Utd is not a force to reckon with like we used to know.

There have been a few unexpected results at half time and even at the end when Liverpool lost their game against Everton. That should have never happened, but this is most likely the end of the title race for Liverpool.

Manchester United has once again shown that they are not a top team. Everyone who thinks that Manchester United made it in the end, seriously I think that a team like them with all the ambition they have should easily beat Sheffield United. Falling behind two times in Old Trafford against a team that is essentially getting relegated is unacceptable.
30  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Daily FUD Thread: Michael Saylor dumps his MSTR shares on: April 24, 2024, 07:40:59 PM
https://www.cnbc.com/2024/04/19/bitcoin-bull-michael-saylor-made-370-million-from-microstrategy-sales.html

So, apparently, Michael Saylor has unloaded 400k of his Microstrategy shares, which, at this point, are largely backed by BTC and could be used as a proxy for investing in Bitcoin.
What do you take of it? Was all his talk about accumulating Bitcoin forever and never selling just an act? Or was he genuine but just wanted to cash out with ~£370 millions for whatever reason?
Somehow I don't think he'll be buying bitcoins with his proceeds.

I wouldn't count any of his actions as a deviation from the overall plan. He could have various incentives to sell these shares. I don't know what his fortune consists of, but if it is shares only more or less, I think at some point I would do the same and divest from shareholdings and use the proceeds to either diversify or to infuse some privacy into his portfolio. If the world can tell what your wealth consists of, maybe at some point he wanted to cash out some of those shares and even if he goes back into BTC with the money, at least those wallets do not necessarily have to be public. I would still look at his long-term actions, but at the end of the day he is a business man and he knows that selling a narrative is part of the marketing toolbox. That doesn't make it a marketing gag when he says that he wants to buy BTC forever. But of course he is sending a certain kind of signals to investors. I haven't had a look at whether or not it had an impact on the share price or whether it will have some impact down the road if he decides to sell more, but hard to tell as an outsider whether what he has done now should be considered a deviation from the plan.

Holy, what a finish that was in the game AC Milan against Inter Milan. 3 red cards in extra time of the game and so much going on.

What I don't really get is why do any of the Inter Milan players allow themselves to go nuts like that and concede a red card when they know that they are about to win the Scudetto and have all reason to be emotional, but not to be aggressive. I think this is dumb. I don't know, do players have to leave the inside of the stadium or are they allowed to celebrate with the team after the game ended when they conceded a red card?

it's a damn final, bro! You don't expect it to get so easy for the intermilan term. Any slight relaxation from them will bring the game to a penalty and you don't want to have such thing happening to you after leading a 2:0.

It was indeed an interesting final to watch as both teams brought in the energy into their play both I feel that the milan side where not as aggressive as was expecting of them in the first half and allowing the inter side to get a goal in the first half and go on to getting another goal in the second half just goes to show that the championship has just slidddd off the milan hands. Inter payed the better football and I must say they deserve the win they hard.

I am not certain whether we are talking about the same game here, but AC Milan against Inter Milan was not a final whatsoever. It was a Serie A game with one team literally having a 14 points lead with 6 games to go. If you call that a final, I don't know. That's not a final to me. Inter Milan was in control at the end and AC Milan didn't really have anything to win. In fact AC Milan now wasted some players they can't use for the next games. Inter Milan doesn't really care, the season is over. I did not think that this game could get out of control like that as there wasn't anything on the line really.

You can’t buy class, but Manchester United and Erik ten Hag have proven in the form of Antony that you can spend €95 million on a player who encapsulates all that has gone wrong with a once-great club.
source: https://www.footballtransfers.com/en/transfer-news/uk-premier-league/2024/04/man-utd-news-pathetic-antony-is-a-disgrace

Looks like everyone is angry towards Antony. why wouldn’t they be? This dude thinks he is Cristiano Ronaldo. Has an ego like Burj Khalifa. Meanwhile, he has not been able to score a single goal this season. This guy only has one assist and four red cards in his name and let’s not forget that this is not the stats of a defender, this is the stats of an attacking player. And this dude had the audacity to cup his ear like that after they won the semi finals against Coventry. he came into Manchester United for 95 million. I think the whole Coventry squad is worth 30 million. Bro literally found his level 💀. The thing that is going to bring him back to reality is him going back to some relegated club or a club that is on the verge of relegation almost every season.

Quote

I am all for wisely chosen metaphors Tongue

I think Antony was absolutely overpriced, but it was during a time when clubs were willing to pay any amount that the clubs asked for. In 2022 there were many of the crazy Saudi Professional League transfers and many others. Prices were so inflated. He was and still is quite young, but paying almost €100 million for a player who scored 18 goals in 57 games for Ajax Amsterdam somehow sound wrong. But I am sure Manchester United didn't really care and one of the problems was in the Premier League that Chelsea was pushing the price competition with their shady accounting practices.

Is it a write-off already? Hard to tell, but it doesn't look like Antony could still become valuable for Manchester United, let alone ever justify the transfer fee.

But anyway, if the season final is about to approach and you know that it is just a few minutes to go until everyone is happy, becoming so aggressive that you have to leave the field is beyond me.

A great season came to a preliminary end for Inter Milan. I thought that AC Milan might have a chance in this game, but Inter prevailed.

It is a good game with quite a lot of action, but it is not over yet. Ball possession shifted slightly in favor of Barcelona, but we will see whether they can turn it into an advantage. So far both teams are about equally dangerous, but it looks as if Barcelona has a bit more control and they got a lot of corners, but couldn't convert them.

Good speed by both teams and the young Barcelona players are interesting to watch. There are some good talents in the team now. Could be Barcelona's future for sure.

You underestimate El classico, like you did consider statistics in this kind of match when two teams are always aggressive towards each other with primary aims and objectives to score goal, statistics doesn't count much unless for short on targets and shorts on goals. Bellingham Real Madrid the lead and they have covered their eyes in shame both in home and away this season, we now know who the real kings of Spain are and who are truly the king of Laliga.

With 6 games to go in Laliga, even if Barcelona used Magic for the rest of the match even though we know that it's unachievable, there is no way that any team is going to overtake Real Madrid right now, it's too early to make an announcement for them but if Real Madrid is able to win their next two games without suffering any loss, they will be force to announce as the winners.

I never underestimate El Clasico, I only know that the quality of these clasicos has nothing to do with the clasicos from 10 years ago.

The kings of La Liga had no chance against Barcelona last season, or did they? It does depend on the team quality and right now Real Madrid is the superior team. Barcelona will still need some time to build a new world class team from the ground up, but thinking about the players they lost over the last 5 to seven years, it was literally not possible for them to build a team of the same quality.

Real Madrid has done some great work in signing players like Bellingham and Vinicius Junior and some others.

Considering he managed to make this team have an unbeaten season, thinking that their first loss would come from Roma makes no sense to me at all. I am not saying that Roma is a bad team, they are a decent team and they deserved to be here, btu that doesn't mean that Leverkusen is a team that would lose to them, I am sure that they will win the game, I do not see how they would lose. That is why I believe that we are going to end up with a loss without a doubt, we should consider that as a reality.

I feel like we should just consider the situation changing, and that is why we should be considering the situation to be sensitive as well. I believe that Leverkusen will end up with a win, and it will not be that difficult at all.

I am undecided about this one actually. Roma is strong enough to beat Leverkusen. Compare Roma from last season to this season and last season Roma was able to beat Leverkusen despite this overwhelming pressure from Leverkusen. Both games were all about Leverkusen and yet Roma played their game and made it to the next round despite having a single shot in the second game (and that one wasn't even on target IIRC).

I think Leverkusen is ahead in this game, but still. Winning against Roma in Rome is not trivial. The last Bundesliga game could have ended in a loss if it wasn't for the goal in minute 97'.

In Leverkusen I doubt that Roma has a big chance, but in their home stadium I expect they will give Leverkusen a hard time.

Arteta is the coach he learned a lot when he was working with Guardiola at Manchester City but he is still not experienced enough like Guardiola and he needs to learn more. But I think he is performing much better than last season in Arsenal and considering the games we have seen so far from Arsenal I was even expecting to see Arsenal beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League because technically they had much better sitation than Bayern Munich.
However, the race is not just between Arsenal and Mcnshter City but Liverpool is also close to these two teams and Klopp doesn't want to leave Liverpool without a trophy at the end of this season. But I think Arsenal has much harder games ahead compared to the two other teams.

Try as much as possible to give credit to where it's deserved. Which of that coach in Europe do you think is capable to mold Arsenal the way Arteta has done today? Many of the coaches were running away from the club because of failure until Arteta bring them to limelight, the club is now a worthy one that any coach even Guardiola will happily accept to work with them. You don't compare people all the time because each of them are kings but they have their own lane that they walk on.

Arsenal didn't Beat Bayern Munich, they drew and if not for the home dominancy they used to equalized the second goal, it would have been a shame on Arsenal to lose to Bayern Munich in Emirate and you can see that they finally lose to Bayern in their home, that shows Bayern was well prepared and focus for the Semi final.

Arteta is doing a good job, but it feels like they are sometimes not fully ready to take on the challenges that come with the highest mental pressure. The good news for them is that they won the game against Wolverhampton after they had to cope with the painful defeat against Bayern Munich.

However, Manchester City will probably not lose any of the remaining games and Arsenal did lose the pole position to them. Maybe not right in this moment as Arsenal has taken the lead again, but City is the team that understands to deliver when it is most needed. That is where I still see a difference between Arteta and Pep Guardiola even when Guardiola now got defeated in the Champions League as well.

Lukaku form dropped a lot since he left Inter Milan and the Chelsea experience was so negative on him and from a failure to another until he found some stability here.
Now he is injured again and confirmed to not be able to play in tomorrow's game against Bologna.
Even Pep Guardiola mocked him. He thanked him indirectly for missing to score three meters away from the goal!
I agree that he might find himself more in another league like Turkish one or just Saudi Pro League were he will find some challenges and more money.

I think he is to blame himself for the most part as I think he should have tried to settle somewhere and give his career a chance to develop over a longer period of time at the same club. He was jumping around all the time and always went after the money. He couldn't gain the appreciation and loyalty of fans because he said he loves the club one day while announcing that he signed a contract with another club the next day. I think this is never good for a player and no doubt he is a talented striker, but as I said, he never gave himself a chance to find a good way at one ore two clubs.

The match is now 2-2. Barcelona was able to take the lead but it did not last up to 5 minutes before Lucas scored an outstanding goal when he received a long pass from Vini. He did not waste anytime and he bang the ball right into the net.

Fermin scored the second goal for Barcelona with a good finish through a rebound from Yamal, which was pushed out by Andriy Lunin. Barca is pressuring to win the match likewise Madrid, but if the match ends in a draw, it is still a good result.

It is a good game with quite a lot of action, but it is not over yet. Ball possession shifted slightly in favor of Barcelona, but we will see whether they can turn it into an advantage. 39  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the halving already priced in? on: April 21, 2024, 05:12:49 PM
...

In the short term? Yes. But in the long term, BTC should be able to reach a new ATH. The current dip could be attributed to rising tensions in the Middle East. Market prices will dip, but they're expected to "pump" in the long run as the world heads into uncertainty. I think the ETFs are just the tip of the iceberg. Who knows? The crypto market behaves in many strange and bizarre ways. So we should expect the unexpected.

If history repeats itself, Bitcoin could eventually surpass Gold in terms of market cap. Buying and holding BTC now is the best decision to make. With Fiat currencies losing ground, I'm certain things will get better for Bitcoin and the whole crypto industry. The question is: Are you ready for the huge pump? Cheesy

I would say that the pump we have seen so far since October last year was probably related to the upcoming halving and now there is some uncertainty, but the halving has had its effect already. I think any positive price movements in the future are based on more people seeing the value in BTC.

But I think that the fees are highly problematic during these times when BTC is producing some good price action. Imagine you are a newcomer and want to purchase some BTC and move it around and suddenly you realize how expensive it is to move BTC. It could scare away some people. It's definitely not very positive when interested people realize this issue. I am not sure what to expect in the coming years regarding the fees, but it has been and will probably be a big issue in the future.

Another dissapointing betting day. Even laliga favorites cannot win … atletico bilbao couldnt win against Granada and that is just shocking from them. This was suppost to be an easy win but that just didnt happen today with all the attacks from Bilbao at home. Granada that is already relegated took a point
Unexpectedly, it is very unfortunate that Bilbao was once again unable to optimize its existing opportunities to achieve full points. After previously only being able to draw against Villarreal, this time, you can only draw, even against relegation zone clubs. It's really unfortunate.

even though according to match statistics, they were very dominant. Even Granada was unable to get close to Bilbao's defense line. In fact, the goal that was obtained was OG. This is a big evaluation for Bilbao, because their attack line is not productive enough. REALLY, this is pointless and not amazing enough. Over time, they could be shifted from the top 5 position if they continue like this.

Yes and reading a few pages back I saw how some people thought Bilbao could threaten Girona and take their spot in the Champions League qualifiers. But no, it is not going to happen as the advantage Girona has is too big and even if they fail to win some games, it doesn't mean that Bilbao will win their games. See today...

Losing points against Granada in this game now killed their ambitions once and for all. They should have won this game in order to stay in the race, but it is over in my opinion. I doubt that Girona will commit the same mistake and drop points against a team that is also positioned in the relegation zone.
