#1 - What GPUs
#2 - What PSU?
#3 - Are you using powered pci-e extender cables?

Can you answer these questions?
903  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Motherboards: What Works w/Four or More GPUs? List Them on: September 01, 2011, 03:32:31 AM
What does not work:

Gigabyte P67A-D3-B3
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128487

While it does work with 3, it's picky about which.

Sad, since it has 5 PCI-E slots in all - quite attractive for the price if all worked.

Confirmed on multiple boards.

If a bios flash fixes, of course I will update this.

powered pci risers?
904  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: HD5970 new in stock newegg 499$ ! on: September 01, 2011, 03:31:50 AM
I agree on the no OC. Thank you to those that responded. I tried the suggestions to use Trixx to down clock the memory and OC the GPU. It worked but it only lasts a few hours before the temp causes the card to throttle down. The memory down clock only shaves a few degrees off the temp. Maybe water cooling would work.
lowering the ambient room temperature will help immensely. More than anything else you can do.

910  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ixcoin difficulty estimate at block 20055? on: September 01, 2011, 02:06:36 AM
So you got hold of a bunch of ixcoins and want to make a thread to push them?  Cheesy

Ixcoin has the best icon of the three alternative currencies (the large Windows icon is really cool), therefore it has some value!

<facepalm>

3 5830s with an i7 would be pushing a 750W to it's very limits.

right now:

each 5830 is about 180W * 2 = 360W
i7 (depending on the version) should be about 130W
maybe 35W each 2GB stick * 3 = 105W
mobo = about 50W
each hard drive about 30-40W * 3 = 100W

that's 740W

I don't think you'll be able to runa  3rd gpu on that psu.
914  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] Two AMD 5970 Reference on: September 01, 2011, 01:19:48 AM
Just noticed this post.  I've bought from Ninja before.  4 5830s.
Cards were all good. He's all good.
P.S.  I checked newegg.  They sold out of their 5970s.  I kind of wavered on buying them and then when I went to buy, they were OOS.  Angry

kool but how about 6th card? which board

same thing.  anything over 4 gpus you'll need to use powered riser cables

890fxa-gd70 will work fine for 5 spus.  just need to use powered pci riser cables and an adequate psu

You should see the important stuff.  That's where the goodies are.

When did i not say the important stuff is important?

What you are saying is that you're so narrow minded, that you can ONLY see the important stuff, and not what's "wrapped" around it.
Really, I hope you have a very intelligent wife, because according to your short-sighted ideals, she might be as ugly as a worm. Or even /A/ worm.

What I said, was an acknowledgement of the obvious time and effort the pool had in making "other" stuff interesting to the eye, not a bait to "goodies righteousness".
But hey, a troll is a troll is a troll.

I think you may have misunderstood what he meant...  Huh
