Anything can be used to launder money, gambling is no more utilised for it than anything else. Drug operations often run large amounts of cash through bogus businesses like flower shops and cake stores, taxi ranks etc.

Gambling is probably more of a risk than anything else to be used as a laundering vehicle. Imagine betting a large amount on something supposedly very likely to happen to clean money with winnings and then it loses.

It's interesting to see Spurs in first place in the standings right now... They have shown that they are well prepared for this season... Fulham is not a weak opponent for Spurs, but they needed the three points very badly and managed to take them... Fulham didn't play badly, but Spurs did everything possible to get to the first place...

They’ve started really well but I don’t think it will last. This run of fixtures coming up will test them -

C Palace (A)
Chelsea (H)
Wolves (A)
Aston Villa (H)
Man City (A)
West Ham (H)
Newcastle (H)

Tough run of games, let’s see if they’re the real deal.

The rumors are still quite hot and I think this will be a very interesting thing if it really happens. It is reported that Graham Potter will become Manchester United coach to replace Erik Ten Hag. Maybe some time ago we heard that Sir Jim Ratcliffe would acquire 25% of Manchester United's shares, so it is possible that he also has the authority to determine the coach for Manchester United.

I don't know what special relationship Sir Jim Ratcliffe has with Graham Potter, but seeing the poor results achieved by Graham Potter while coaching Chelsea last season, it will only make things worse at Manchester United. Wouldn't it be ridiculous if Manchester United trusted Graham Potter to replace Erik Ten Hag? and I think this will only anger Red Devils fans. Could Graham Potter be heading to Old Trafford? And have Manchester United taken the right steps to improve their situation in the future?

Man Utd go from one disaster to another, I really do not think Graham Potter would be a good idea. If Ten Hag was to get sacked then surely they have to go for a manager who has won trophies.

If I was a Man Utd fan, I would be hoping for Simeone, Nagelsmann or similar. Graham Potter is definitely not the answer to their problems.

Unai Emery really has Villa playing well, it’s amazing how much better they are now under his guidance. The PL is set to get 5 CL places for next season, I wouldn’t rule Villa out.

West Ham are a good team so 4-1 is a real humbling. I have a few friends who are Villa fans, they are very excited about what Emery is building there.

Nobody should feel sad buying a home with bitcoin. I bought my house with fiat from selling bitcoin in the last bull run. Isn’t that why we got into bitcoin, to make life better? What do we gain by HODLING until death, not enjoying some of the fruits of our labor?

I will sell more bitcoin in 2025 and buy multiple rental properties also.

Seller exhaustion?

Let’s hope so and we start to rally as the halving approaches.

@Pentoshi
Pretty key update today as I've tracked this for some time

Stable coin bleed stopped as discussed earlier in October, and has not made a new low now in over 3 months. It's even essentially had a very small uptick

It could be a sign that capital is finally done exiting. Another positive development

European club football is BACK this weekend, the drag of yet another international break over. It’s time to start pondering what bets to place this week, there are some exciting games in the PL this weekend.

Pick of the bunch:

Liverpool vs Everton - Another 12:30pm Saturday kick off for Klopp’s men, he will not be happy. I will be attending the game with my brother, my 2nd game this season. I’m expecting us to get back to winning ways after being robbed at Spurs and denied a win by a battling Brighton team in the last 2 games. Prediction 2-0 LFC.

Newcastle vs C Palace - sportsbet.io sponsored Newcastle are getting back to the form of last season. No way Hodgson’s men take anything back to London. Prediction 3-0 Toon.

Chelsea vs Arsenal - This game could throw up a surprise, clearly Arsenal are in much better form, on paper a far superior team but this is a London Derby. The home crowd will be fired up, I think Chelsea can get a positive result. Prediction Draw.

2 out of 3 and missed the Newcastle game by one goal. Not bad, maybe I’ll be back for LFC’s tips next Friday Smiley

Seems like that was probably the issue then. Keep an eye the next time you make a transaction and check that it behaves as expected!

Thank you to yourself and everybody else who contributed to help me. This forum is invaluable, I’ve always said it.

Going to lock the thread now.

593  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 05:08:51 PM
Yeah, so it seems like it has finished loading your saved mempool from disk. I'm not 100% sure on the behavior of Core, but I would guess your mempool wouldn't update with new transactions while it was still loading from disk, which is why you didn't see your previous transactions until they confirmed. No idea why it took so long to finish loading in your case, though.

If you run getmempoolinfo again, has the size of your mempool increased (and continues to increase between blocks)? That would be a good indication you are syncing unconfirmed transactions properly again.

Hey buddy, it has increased yes, to over 15000 now.

Edit - And now over 17000.
594  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 04:47:32 PM
OK now it says “loaded” true

595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 03:41:31 PM
So, your mempool is not fully loaded for some reason, which would explain why your node didn't see the unconfirmed transactions. When you use getmempoolinfo, do you have any transactions at all in your mempool ("size")? Are you running in blocks only mode (-blocksonly) by any chance?

OK, "size" 5101

How do I know if I’m in -blocksonly & what would I do about that.
If it’s similar to pruned mode then no, it’s a standard download.

Sorry!
596  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 03:00:52 PM
A bit strange, but this suggests that your node never received the unconfirmed transaction as part of its mempool, and only learned about the transaction when it was confirmed in a block. Given this, is it perhaps a problem with either your mempool settings or your mempool synchronization?

Try running getmempoolinfo and see if it shows anything abnormal.

Given this, is it perhaps a problem with either your mempool settings or your mempool synchronization? Are you running any non-default mempool settings in your bitcoin.conf file?

I don’t believe so. It does keep stating Not Responding every now and again so maybe it’s non resonsive in the background at times and when it unglitches the transaction is noted. Just seems it’s a little coincidental after the 1st confirmation.

597  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 11:50:44 AM
I’ve made two transactions on 25.0 since upgrading (both receiving bitcoin - create new receiving addresses).

Took 10 minutes or so each time for the funds to arrive in Bitcoin Core.

I didn’t see pending balances, just straight to confirmed, very odd, not had that before.

Funds were sent from blockchain.com (old test wallet).

Bitcoin Core is fully synced so it’s not that.

599  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Upgraded to 25.0 on: October 19, 2023, 07:04:03 AM
I upgraded my Bitcoin Core wallet from 0.18.0 to 25.0

I am now fully synced but noticed I have 10 outgoing connections to the network. I’ve been running Bitcoin Core for nearly 10 years. I’ve previously only been able to get 8. Is this normal, 8 are Full Relay & 2 are Block Relay.

I don’t run as a Full Node so 0 incoming connections, which I am content with.

I’ve just never seen 10 outgoing connections previously.

As a grown man in my 30’s I don’t really care less what my parents think about my gambling habits. I don’t stake more than I can afford to lose so it’s none of their business.

I understand why some family members could be worried if you have a problem but if it’s just a hobby & you are having fun then it’s none of their business.

Life is tough, we all need a vice or three to get us through it Wink
