1841  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to hide your bitcoin? on: February 19, 2015, 06:24:21 PM
welp, regardless, xmr.to now lets you pay XMR -> bitcoin address, and poloniex finally implemented a minimum mixin of 3 on their withdraws, so, in terms of blockchain privacy, a good route is now:

BTC ---exchange (poloniex)--> XMR ---xmr.to---> BTC address.

granted, there may be ip logging all along that route, but that can be avoided with due diligence (and eventually i2p will be baked in to monero)

Looks like a practical defense against all but the most serious adversaries (especially using i2p or TOR - and I'm always using TOR anyway). It's also simple and easy enough to do frequently, which is really the most important thing.

Definitely worth trying - thanks.
I hope monero doesn't get stuck in its evolution and it gets removed from poloniex, its an amazing coin.
1842  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bitcoin and Porn on: February 19, 2015, 06:23:20 PM
Why are people still paying money for porn in the age of Xhamster, youporn, and redtube?
I think some people have certain fetishes that can only be 'tickled' certain ways, eg they are looking for something very specific.

I do think that bitcoin will likely do wonders for the porn industry as people can buy it without any stigma, plus porn producers will not need to worry about any chargebacks
Also some people like 1080p videos as soon as they get released and dont have to wait for torrrents.
1843  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: what are your main sources of Bitocin/Crypto news? on: February 19, 2015, 06:22:24 PM

1844  Economy / Economics / Re: Anybody else notice trading volume is up by 7x for the last 30 days? on: February 18, 2015, 04:39:08 PM

1845  Economy / Economics / Re: Dirty coins on: February 18, 2015, 04:38:28 PM
if you use a mixer all of your coins will look tainted...
a mixer doesnt wash them: it just distributes the taint more equally

i dont think there is an alternative to monero of you want to be anon (transactions and balances are anon btw)

what is so special with monero? Smiley

no public ledger (but i dont want to advertise it here... please just search for their ann thread Wink )

bitcoin is great but it wont ever be anon - imho even sidechains cant fix this

Black markets will all accept monero in the future, give it time.

1849  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 41 minutes for a new block, difficulty wayyy too hard on: February 18, 2015, 03:48:13 PM
On top of the long blocks, I had one transaction skipped by two blocks, then anther skipped by three blocks, all on the same day. Both had the standard 10k Satoshi miners fee. That was completely ridiculous.

Thats weird. I've never experienced that. What wallet did you use?

1852  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC $1000 Poll! on: February 17, 2015, 04:40:01 PM
It will obviously happen in 2 years, its a mathematical certainty as 2+2 is 4.
1853  Economy / Economics / Re: USdollar lost 97% of it's value? on: February 17, 2015, 04:38:45 PM
i've watch a video where someone says dollar lost 97% of it's value, this would mean that there is only 3 % left ?  is 0 % when i can use it as toilet paper?

Fucken lol. That's not how it works. It's might have lost 97% of its purchasing power but that doesn't mean it only has 3% left to go. It just means you can't buy as much shit with it as you could in the past.

In fact all these graphs dont matter as long as people keep accepting it.
1854  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New here on bitcointalk on: February 17, 2015, 04:36:44 PM
Go on Youtube and type "introduction to bitcoin". Its easier to learn than reading.
1855  Other / Off-topic / Re: Answer the question above with a question. on: February 17, 2015, 04:25:53 PM

1858  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't Let Anyone Tell You Satoshi's Identity is NOT Important on: February 16, 2015, 05:31:57 PM
Still waiting to see a single argument that delivers a sound explanation as to why we should know Satoshi's real identity.
1859  Other / Off-topic / Re: what internet security software do you use/like? on: February 16, 2015, 05:30:30 PM

1860  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who bought this latest dead cat? on: February 16, 2015, 05:06:58 PM
Just wondering who of you still has not learned there's no way up anymore and bought into the latest dead cat only to lose more a few hours later.
Also, how do you feel about your loss, having been warned a hundred times over by experienced economists and traders?

Quoted to make fun of you in the future as a boat misser that sold too early. Waste of Legendary account.
