op is right! sub $100 incoming
Lol at the fudsters scared that they sold wanting to re-enter the market at cheap ass prices. Well, during mid april regarding some solid chart predictions we will know if its time to go up or lower.
1622  Economy / Speculation / Re: Occam's Razor on: March 24, 2015, 05:53:41 PM
LMAO at everyone panicking.

Selloff is to pay the tax man, nothing more.  Happened last year this time too.  Good buying opp.  We'll be back up in May.
You cannot pin poin a price drop to a single particular thing like "oh its just people cashing out to pay taxes". Too many variables to tell.

Quote
Maybe someday in future, when everyone could produce everything they want with the help of a robot, trade will become unnecessary, then money will disappear. But due to human's limited life time, specialization is very possible to extend further, thus money will never disappear
What a sad world would it be, it would basically mean that human cooperation is not anymore required.

Making money is sadly seen as shameful is my country, because it means that "we eat too much of the pie, that is unfair".
But when we think about it, money is the only force that make us act for the well being of strangers without being compelled to do so.
Money is the reward for being helpful to someone else, this is often forgotten.

Well, I don't think we should blame people for that, I must admit that this definition is not very legit in today's world.
The definition of money has been corrupted, not because of "society" or "mankind" greediness, but by the very persons who defined themselves as sacred arbiters of value on behalf of the society.

The money is a must because people need some kind of value token to do the trade, it should have universal acceptance, so fiat money is the closest candidate. It is this definite demand for transaction medium give fiat money value, and no matter how heavy the slavery is, people will still use it, since they don't have other choice

However, if people managed to produce some other universally accepted value certificate, then that can be used as money, so bitcoin is really creating a new alternative

We need wages being paid in bitcoin, having to convert your fiat into bitcoin monthly to use it it's annoying.
1624  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Nasdaq to Provide Trading Technology for Bitcoin Marketplace on: March 24, 2015, 05:22:29 PM

How long is it till we see them screaming about bitcoin and doge?  Grin

More and more big boys coming aboard. We will see some pretty interesting things in the next few years.

I certainly hope so, but I fear these guys getting involved will just cause more booms and busts. I guess we can only wait and see but more people or industries getting involved should hopefully be a good thing.
Lol it would be a sight to behold: grown suited up men talking about buying dogecoins stressed out at pumps and dumps.
1625  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Will you support International Bitcoin Day? on: March 24, 2015, 05:19:52 PM
What would happen if everyone in the world used Bitcoin for one day?

Please check out the site and let me know what you think.

http://IntBtcDay.com
Seems like a positive idea, but how is everyone in the world supossed to use Bitcoin when most people in the world don't have access to proper internet.

Winklevoss Twins Says, In 10 Years Cash Will Be Obsolete

http://bitforum.info/t/winklevoss-twins-says-in-10-years-cash-will-be-obsolete/546

For me, its really hard to believe that bitcoin could replace cash, not because bitcoin cannot do it, but because bitcoin now is having a hard time breaking into the mainstream. I don't know what's their basis about they said.

Maybe if they said 25 years, maybe Ill believe them.

If someone told you 10 years ago that flip phones would be obsolete today, would you have believed them?

What if they told you 10 years ago that your personal privacy is becoming obsolete?

I dont necessarily agree with what the winklevi are saying, but its entirely within the relm of possiblity, given how fast tech moves these days.
Yeah, we aren't biologically wired to predict the future like that except a few elite, it's like Bill Gates talking about the internet back in the early 90's and people thinking he is insane.
1627  Economy / Speculation / Re: After 3 days of Sideways are we seeing action now? 22/03 on: March 23, 2015, 03:49:38 PM
Been floating around $260, we just hit $268 - are we on a breakout??    Cool
Probably a small uptrend towards the weekend, then a correction in sunday followed by continued uptrend next week.
1628  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you guess about he future of bitcoin? on: March 23, 2015, 03:39:48 PM
We're waiting for Bitcoin v2 like Ethereum
Ethereum is not intended to be a currency, it's not competition for Bitcoin, if Ethereum is a success it means Bitcoin was a success, not the opposite.
1629  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Ok So I Just Sent £1000 of BTC to a Friend in Northern Namibia.. Now What? on: March 23, 2015, 03:38:51 PM
Thats a lot of money. The problem is he needs to find either a local seller that it's into bitcoin, or buying whatever he wants with bitcoin itself and hoping someone wants to send whatever he buys to there.
1630  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Decentralized and Autonomous? on: March 23, 2015, 01:47:27 PM
An organization supposes there's an organizer at the head!
Not really, an organization supposes there are organized things... technology is doing pretty weird things these days, the idea of decentralized banking was nonsense a decade ago. DAC might have sense in the future.
1631  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do girls use Bitcoin ? on: March 23, 2015, 01:45:42 PM
Not if you believe the website data from Alexa!

But alexa is a girls name Grin

Of course, I know some girls use btc to gamble or play poker, girls may like slots more.

In BTC poker house, usually see some girls there. So they can earn money and train poker skills, so good right?

And there are btc companies which pay btc as salary, girls work in those companies use btc.
yeah i've seen girls gambling and playing poker in those websites too. considering the fact that most of those girl names are not actually girls but i've seen real girls play poker too.

i think those are the minority, many girl using bitcoin, are using it for sex related thing, to stay anon

I think it's cute that people still believe that bitcoin is anonymous.

whatever you do to obfuscate your transactions has to be good enough to withstand all future blockchain analysis improvements.

well yes you are right, it's semi-anon, but if you spend them with a mobile phone, and then move away from that place, it will be hard to track you back
This would be the case only if you are using public wifi.. other than that it would reveal your position, but not that no one is going to care about it.
1632  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think Buffett was right? on: March 22, 2015, 05:05:40 PM
I read somewhere recently that 40% of berkshire hathaway is shares in wall street banks and legacy financial firms. His opinion is not objective.

On dataroma you can check Berkshire's portfolio in december 2014.
http://www.dataroma.com/m/holdings.php?m=brk

Financials he was invested in at that time: Wells Fargo 23,23%, American Express 12,9%, U.S. Bancorp 3,29%, Goldman Sachs Group 2,24%, Moody's Corp 2,16%, Bank of New York 0,82%, M&T Bank Corp 0,62%, Visa Inc 0,60%, Mastercard Inc 0,43%,

Sector analysis: Financials 45,57 % of the whole portfolio.

You're right mate!
Warren Buffet has never invested in anything too risky or revolutionary like Bitcoin. Most of his picks are always safe, solid ones and he holds them for long times. He's not got a say in Bitcoin because he doesn't understand it.

That is not the point here. The point is Buffett is heavily invested in old and traditional financial services and banking. So why should he speak positive about Bitcoin which could obviously be a big threat to these institutions in the future? Got it?!
And of course he does not understand Bitcoin. But he also don't want to understand it imo. He is a old believer.
I say just let him, it's his right to do so. He achieved a lot in his life. And I really respect that.
But in terms of Bitcoin I am totally convinced he is wrong.

I agree, I think that's the point that they want to stress on earlier. For instance, you can see amex, visa, mastercard, those are directly in competition with what bitcoin is trying to achieve right now. To become a payment system in the retail business. Obviously he can't be supporting bitcoin at the same time because the success bring eventually spell collapse for the others.

If bitcoin has such huge potential, couldn't he just buy a large portion of bitcoin and see what happens? It is not like he is emotionally invested in other payment services.

He either legitimately believes Bitcoin is pointless, or he sees it as a treat for his future holdings, therefore intentionally spreads FUD's so their followers will think like him and hopefully keep their money away from it.
1633  Economy / Speculation / Re: encouraging signs of normality on: March 22, 2015, 05:03:50 PM
Depends on how one looks at it. Generally, less traded volume will also mean less price movement and when that happens, I supposed that also mean lower volatility that will eventually lead to price being more stable. When we say stable, it doesn't mean that price will not move at all but probably the rise or dip will be at slower pace. And maybe at that time, when businesses see there is a stability, it will somehow help towards mainstream adoption.
If Bitcoin wants to see a stable and sustainable price rise, it must focus on the adoption. For now we had two big bubbles based purely on speculation, money coming from illegal(semi-legal) businesses and exchange scams. That may give fuel for one more bubble but that would be end of Bitcoin. Nevertheless, I agree, we already see positive signs of development going in the positive direction. It will take much longer than in case of the first two bubbles, but if we stay consistently on that road, sooner or later, the price would move higher.
For mainstream massive adoption to happen there needs to be a need for people to use and own BTC. To get there, we either get it by making it viral and cool to use "just because", or else it will take people getting fucked by banks for them to see the real necessity of BTC (im talking about the average joes, which don't pay any attention to economics).
1634  Economy / Economics / Re: Deep Web Drug Market Disappeared Overnight, $12 Million in Bitcoin Missing on: March 22, 2015, 05:01:56 PM
So the criminals turned out to be criminals. I for one am shocked.

Not fair. Some time ago, there used to be honour among thieves.  Wink

Hackers have never pledged allegiance to the cosa nostra...

This wasn't a problem with hackers. It was the adminstration/escrow providers of Evolution who took off with the bitcoins.
it's not proved yet. The problem is always with either inside jobs (members of the exchange itself steal it) or they somehow get hacked by external agents. I think the inside job theory is always the more plausible one.
1635  Economy / Lending / Re: 0.05 BTC Loan Needed on: March 22, 2015, 05:00:37 PM
Why dont you post this on the marketplace subforum to get more feedback? this subforum is to talk about economics.
1636  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: plz help: USB stick offline transactions on: March 22, 2015, 04:58:47 PM
Idk about that link, but apparently you can create a bitcoin paper wallet with bitcoinaddress.org offline, saving the webpage and opening it offline, you can do the whole process and apparently it works.. i still dont understand how offline cold storage fully works tho.
1637  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Any bitcoin-turned-millionaires here? on: March 22, 2015, 04:55:29 PM
As the title says, just interested, are there people on the forums who became millionaires due to BTC alone?
Yeah, that guy rpietila for instance, he got lucky enough to be able to buy a castle for himself, that should tell you how much he made.
1638  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has any of Satoshi's suspected wallets been used?? on: March 22, 2015, 04:54:45 PM
Y'all seem to be ignoring the possibility that Satoshi does not give a crap about personal wealth.
Im sure he does, but he is the creator of Bitcoin: Who else is going to trust Bitcoin more than him? Thats why he is holding forever. It makes no sense to sell your coins.
1639  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: LTC good investment? on: March 21, 2015, 07:51:39 PM
NO, bitcoin is slowly dropping back to $0, so is litecoin
Yeah, it's clearly going to $0 man, meanwhile this is what's going on in the real life, aka outside your mom's basement:

You guys have no notions in investing whatsoever.
1640  Economy / Speculation / Re: Chinese trade volums vs. usd trade volumes etc. on: March 21, 2015, 07:39:16 PM
BTCCNY volumes seem in general to be far higher than BTCUSD volumes. What are the main reasons for this?

- Do chinese exchanges have 0% trading fee, leading to more frequent trades?
- Are there more CNY traders than USD traders?
- Are trading volumes reported inaccurately? If so, is there any point in doing so, will it attract more traders? What if the fake volumes are exposed, will it damage the reputation of the exchange with decreased real trade volumes as a result?

Is there any statistics (best effort attempts) that tries to show how many bitcoin users there are in every country?

Why is CNY volume so high, and not INR for example? Localbitcoins volume of INR is quite low. Is there no bitcoin exchanges in India? Is the low popularity due to people being less technical, or more traditional? I thought IT was big in India.

Why's JPY volumes not higher? Currently CNY volumes appears hundreds of times bigger.  What about KRW (South Corea), is it on the rise?

What about RUB (Russia), localbitcoins volume is also low.

PLN also seems relatively popular, what's the main reasons for this (foreign workers sending money home?). I see the bitcoin embassy in Warsawa recently shut down.. Are polish people technologically advanced in general?

Looking forward to your unique insights.

China is huge, tons of people are looking forward for Bitcoin being a success to not have to depend on their opressive government and hopefully leave the country in the future and live off BTC.
