Many are here are doing jobs no American would take.

Perhaps we should teach legal Americans that if there is a job that they don't want to do but it's there perhaps they should take it instead of collecting unemployment.

seems like a chasm is growing in the GOP field.. a lot of repubs are starting to get a little wary of our foreign policy... of course there are still many who are profiting from the military industrial complex, but i think there seems to be a growing sentiment that we shouldn't have so much influence overseas.

Too late to pull out as the whole country is so entangled into middle east and elsewhere.

It's too late to pull out without consequences you mean.  But the mere presence of us (USA) micromanaging everything everything has gone to poo.  I would be the first to defend the US and the way it acted in WW II since the world would be a different place if the USA didn't do what it did.  Our current involvement everywhere is unsustainable if none other than for sheer monetary reasons (ignoring any ethical or sovereignty issues).

1 Billion muslims in the world.

Only 20% are fanatics.

Here's some nice tasters for all you shitheads out there,

LOOK AT ALL THESE RELIGIONS!

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zionism

Dont try to make one religion look bad when all of the others are just as shit too.

Shitheads...nice, you kiss you mom with that mouth?

Hey look, only 20% of all people in prison are murders - don't try to make all prisoners look bad  Cheesy  Enjoy the strawman.

Looks like someone doesnt get the point. Roll Eyes

Does your mom call you special before you go for bedtime?

You tried to answer a strawman generalization that you felt the people in this forum were making by making sweeping generalization about other religions.  Was there a point in there somewhere?

What you meant to say is that the majority of true Muslims would not condone such horrible behavior by what outsiders may see as their brethren.  I would agree with that.  Just like Catholics probably don't condone their priests to be molesting boys by the dozen.

I personally don't ascribe to any particular faith and I have friends from many faiths as I live in Los Angeles and we have all types of people here.  I don't judge my friends on their faith, but I can judge the actions of state/police sponsored or condoned killing of a minority group.

By the way you won't find too many Hindus, Buddhists and Taoists killing others in the name of their faith.

1065  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Anyone following the ebola outbreak? on: July 29, 2014, 07:48:09 AM
It's pretty much like the bubonic plague or typhoid for the current generation.  It requires close contact and longer exposure but has a very high lethality.
1066  Other / Politics & Society / Re: More From "The Religion Of Peace": Pakistan mob kills woman, girls...... on: July 29, 2014, 07:39:09 AM
Yes, the police tried to stop the mob.  They were also on the phone trying to call in Osama bin Laden's location  Cheesy

Religious Islamic state, religious police, religious government.
1067  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: IS mining on CEX.io is profitable for small scale? on: July 29, 2014, 07:15:00 AM
Sell your GH/s in Cex, move the BTC to an exchange - trade BTC/fiat - the worst case scenario is that you lose out on jump in price or possibly the exchange runs with your money.  Trading on a cloud mining platform only adds to the risks one is exposed to and doesn't offer any major increase in profit for that risk.
1068  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Bitcoin difficulty may actually go down in ~7 days! on: July 29, 2014, 07:11:37 AM
Well there is the undeniable fact that so far almost every major company has failed to ROI BTC except some early Avalon, some of the Jupiters and Bitmain gear.  People got burned on Cointerra, KNC's private farm killing their new Jupiter and Neptunes profit, and that massive hashfast bankruptcy didn't help. When all the major players for the most part suck maybe people are realizing they need to think before jumping in.

Look at dogie's miner rating thread - pretty much every company gets an F for ethics because of their private pools and premines.
1069  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: 40.000 Dollar Investment on: July 29, 2014, 03:44:23 AM
I would hedge the investment:

Use 40% to buy BTC directly.

Use 25% for a mining plan (Cloudhashing is going for $2/GH for their next upgrade)

Use about 10% for other coins (Litecoin and/or Darkcoin and/or Doge)

Use 25% for a hardware order -- but be careful: BFL is useless, KNC has gone bad, and most other companies will never make ROI.

I feel you are using the word "hedge" incorrectly - at least not in the way it is typically used with investments. Perhaps you meant diversify.

Buying cloud mining is just plain silly.  Do you know anybody who will sell you $1 for $0.75?  The cloud mining company will just take your premiums and make a farm to sell more hash which will directly compete with your investment.  It also centralizes mining power - bad for Bitcoin.

Buying altcoins is very risk buy also offers high potential for gain.

Hardware might be viable if you have infrastructure, cheap power and get a good price.
1070  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Question regarding mining rigs and profitability. on: July 29, 2014, 03:25:18 AM
A bunch of my friends and I pulled our money together to purchase a Bitcoin miner. We are all putting in about 600$ but I myself am only putting in about 275$. Electricity isn't an issue for me because one of my friends agreed to host the rig at his home for no extra charge.

So my question to you all is do you honestly think I will be able to make my money back/turn a tiny profit. I know there are thousands of variables that no one can predict but I just thought this was a good idea to snag a high powered miner with little risk on our parts. Also we have been looking at the Rockminer R3 and the AntMiner S3, not really sure which one to go for. If all goes well, we will just re-invest our money to purchase more miners. Any thoughts on the best strategy to go about this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

-Nesiss

It's possible you guys might profit.  It looks like the growth rate might be slowing down as people have figured that they were losing money buying every single miner on preorder.

Your friend is going to be in for a little shock if as noted above you have 10 S3s running.  They will draw around 100KWH every day, 3000KWH in a month.  In my area where electricity is $0.35/KWH that is about $1000 per month in electricity - I hope he has cheap power.

Am I the only one in America who doesn't know this story? I know NFL is the biggest sport but I don't watch it, not even the superbowl.

I'm not gay, but I have a couple gay friends and I treat them like any other.  The LGBT cheerleaders in the media are absolutely disgusting though - they cover up all kinds of straight near nudity on TV and when they show the Hollywood LGBT parade they literally zoom in guys in thongs - like I want my 4 year old daughter watching 3 guys in a man sandwich.  It's a double standard really just like the "N" word.
1072  Other / Politics & Society / Re: U.S. evacuates embassy in Libya, citing militia violence on: July 28, 2014, 11:42:32 AM
Can't have another Benghazi this close to another election. Wink Just goes to show that it isn't rocket science to get your people out of harm's way. Ahem, Hillary!
I think Hilary and the whole administration was asleep at the wheel Bengazi happened, they then tried to cover up their incompetence by blaming it on a video that they know had nothing to do with the attacks. Romney had access to classified information at the time of the presidential debates and brought this up and Obama denied it, but he was not able to leak classified information just to win an election.

Even if it was leaked would the 18 year olds voting for Obama even care?  Could they even find Libya on a map in under 30 seconds?  Out of sight out mind.

Because Romney didn't have Katy Perry champing him with green renewable energy to power their Ipads.  Obama could have have had AFO powered by Steven's blood and people wouldn't care (servicemen yes, but the majority of the electorate no).
1073  Other / Politics & Society / Re: White House: Republicans May Push to Impeach Obama If They Get the Chance on: July 28, 2014, 11:35:36 AM
The last thing i am is an Eric Holder fan, but im 99% sure he wakes up everyday proud not being compared to "murder" Reno.

Isnt she scaring children for a living these days?

Janet Reno made a mistake and admitted to it.

Holder lets so much crap slide by.  Couldn't you say he had the blood of border agents on his hands with the gun running?

Name me one official cabinet member that Obama appointed that admitted to making a mistake.  Not even committing a crime - just making a mistake that we as humans make.  I'm a physician and I admit I make mistakes all time time - most of them fortunately are stupidly little clerical mistakes and not mistakes that effect my patients.  Just today I called myself stupid in front of the nurses.

Susan Rice is the perfect example of how proud this administration is - both sides agree she was wrong when she parroted the video message on the weekend talk shows.  Republicans say she did it intentionally.  Democrats say that's the best intel we had, until CIA said otherwise.  At no time since the CIA press release did she say she made a judgement mistake.  It's not criminal to make mistakes usually - certainly not for opening your mouth on a Sunday morning show.

Even Bush - I haven't heard him say that in retrospect Iraq was a bad move.  I don't think politicians will ever admit to mistakes - especially the bad ones.  It's how Obama can go around and give himself a grade of A- at the end of his first term  Cheesy  The only thing he would get an A- for is press puppet mastery - had he "enchanted" Fox he would have been an A+!
1074  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Opinion on the US on: July 28, 2014, 11:25:04 AM
As a citizen I can say that the government no longer represents the people.  The U.S has taken on the role of "big brother" in the world and now is expected to resolve problems everywhere when we do nothing for our own issues.  There is constant conflict both in and of itself and worldwide!  Non-stop fraud and criminal investigations from the top to the bottom and never any punishment!

I'll second this.  US citizen born and raised but I don't feel like the government has my best interests at the top of their agenda - I think their more interested in keeping personal power to live like little kings of their fiefdoms with the POTUS as emperor.

For those who need help keeping track of their starting post, it might be easier to enter the number into one of your profile's random spots - for me I put 1721 for example into my ICQ number - I just update it with my new count every month.  Makes it easier for me to track - a lot easier than showing last post and counting back to the 17th.
1077  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: July 28, 2014, 10:22:50 AM
I can't really guess which way it will go because it looks like 1k will move it 30 in either direction with current walls.  If you put 2k in downward movement on stamp and BTCe China might follow.  wag the dog.
1078  Economy / Speculation / Re: 3 years ago...let's reminisce on: July 28, 2014, 10:19:12 AM
3 years ago I bought 5 6970s and 2 6990s to mine bitcoins and thought I was da shitz...
Now, compared to those huge mining outfits I am just chickenshitz.

But those were good times baby seriously good times!

Yeah but 3 years ago those 7 cards made more BTC per day than what $500K can buy today Tongue  Plus you could have played WoW or XCom on them Tongue

Ahh the power of hindsight - I wouldn't have even mined, I would have stockpiled at $2.
1079  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How easy was it to buy Bitcoin back in 2011? on: July 28, 2014, 09:55:33 AM
It was somewhat easier to buy when Mt Gox didn't have any ID requirements but that's also when SHTF.  Bitcoin went from $33 to $2.  Imagine if $33 was like the $1200 last year, the $2 (Jan 2012) would be $72 now.  If BTC started tanking from $500 to $72 over a 5 month period would you have the guts to buy in at $72?

Everything is easier in hindsight.  I didn't sell on the way down to $2, but I did sell on the way back up to $7 lol. Damn that wife.
I don't think any of the exchanges really had Id or KYC requirements, but MyGox was by far the larggest exchange and didn't have any major competition.

Well Tradehill was there - and they died in a fiery mess with Dwolla.  Then there was Zhou Tong and his lovely options platform that people lost a lot in.

MtGox asked for documents in 2012 after Tradehill went down and Dwolla started giving them trouble.  People had to wait up to 3 months for a Dwolla transfer even with ID.

Sold it at $7? Hope it wasn't a significant portion of your holding.  Smiley

Yes it was a large part of my holding but I was mining and the wife wanted me to break even on the little monsters that invaded her office and made it unbearably hot  Cheesy
