1161  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I paid with BitCoins but I have never received on: July 25, 2014, 12:16:21 AM
It is showing 40 confirms right now so the recipient received the funds most certainly.  Perhaps the time of day is an issue (maybe they're done for the day) or the person who monitors crypto payments is not paying attention.  Wait until tomorrow and ask for a response from support.  After that you can start suspecting scam.
1162  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Everyone of my friends says the same: "How do I get Bitcoins?" on: July 25, 2014, 12:12:15 AM
Everyone of them say "why do I want to work for Bitcoins? I would rather get paid in dollars" or they don't care to buy Bitcoins.
Faucets are a joke.
 Cry

It's the same as saying how do I get Euros or Pesos.  They're not going to magically fall into your lap.

If you're in the US just buy some at Coinbase.  If outside the US it's even easier on the exchanges.

The only way acquiring Bitcoin might be difficult is if you live in a 3rd world country where the exchange rate to USD/Euro is horrible - then I do online work for BTC.
1163  Other / Politics & Society / Re: US health care mandate (Obamacare) on: July 25, 2014, 12:05:54 AM
The path to hell is paved with good intentions.  Obama espoused his good intentions of having everybody covered for a low cost.  The reality is this cannot happen, especially when all other insurance in the US is for catastrophes - not day to day expenses.  Health insurance shouldn't cover well child visits or annual checkups - those the patient should be paying for.... but that would require the patient be responsible for their own fricking body - something I see in less than 20% of my patients now.

Obamacare was supposed to fail from the start. The failure is not an option. Obama never had any "good" intentions whatsoever. Let insurances compete across state lines, let the free market boost quality of services and technology in medicine and healthcare. They wanted a single-payer health care from the start but thought obamacare would be loved by many if they stick long enough with it, if they let many jump in no matter if there were massive fraud or not (in my next post). Only the number of people under obamacare was kept as the only good matrix of success. Obamacare has nothing to do with helping anyone. This a program created for total population control for the benefit of government, not for helping patients and those in need. Just look at the VA scandal: this is the future of obamacare.
I don't think the liberals wanted obamacare to fail from the start, but the law was very poorly designed and never had any chances of success.

Yes. It was supposed to fail but not like that, not that fast. But now they need enough people to be slaved to it quickly so people will cry whenever someone tries to kill it in the future.

I'll play the stupid American idiot who voted for him and say that he talked a good game.  He told everybody everything they wanted to believe. I guess people didn't want to consider reality.

You are correct that it had nowhere to go but fail.  His admin is still issuing statements saying it's on track and it's working!  Yay!

It has created a nice crisis, and no politician can pass up a good crisis.  Look, here comes Hillary riding in on 4 horses!  Single payer!

Don't feel bad you voted for him. Feel good his Jedi mind tricks does not work on you anymore. Remember how you feel. Apply that new knowledge to every single politician in the future, from left to right.

Them's fighting words.  I live in CA and if I ever tried to vote I might as well put a big target on my head (since I won't most likely vote R or I).  I have never in my life voted for a presidential candidate since I live in CA and I know which way this state will run.  If they got rid of the electoral college and my vote meant something I would vote.

You missed the point of what I was saying (probably I was laying the sarcasm too strong).  I was saying IF I were one of the sheeple following him then he seems like the best man on Earth who promises to fix everything and heal America's divide - we see how well that went even with him controlling every branch in the first 2 years they couldn't pass a budget.
1164  Other / Politics & Society / Re: No satellite recording from missile launch flash. on: July 24, 2014, 11:55:25 PM
This missile is not like an Atlas being launched from the western seaboard of the US where 1/2 the West Coast of the US can see the missile, this is a smaller missile and the residual trail disperses fairly quickly.  Looking at the crash the skies above look partly cloudy with some atmospheric haze.  But yes no video has shown a trail.
If it only had to travel a few miles to hit it's target, that would decrease the chances of the missile being caught on camera (via satellite). I don't see a conspiracy here.

Satellites' capabilities to detect missiles don't depend upon how slow or how far a missile would fly. They detect missile launches right at the start through infrared sensors.

Infrared is virtually useless even on GEO when there is significant cloudcover or atmospherics that would disperse the signal.  The satellite typically switch to ground radar guided tracking when this happens and usually can track a projectile when it is 3-4 miles up - or at least that was the case 5 years ago - I don't know if they have newer technology now.
Well, there's this:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Space-Based_Infrared_System
But I don't know if it can detect missiles this small

SBIRS won't track small missiles like the BUK - it's made for tracking the silo based and heavy mobile platform based ICBMs.
1165  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Arizona killer Joseph Wood dies almost two hours after execution begins on: July 24, 2014, 11:50:59 PM
So now our nation has regressed from a modern, progressive country to a middle ages country where we not only have to execute people but we also have to torture them in the process. Nobody can tell me that they don't know how to execute people but they may be dysfunctional in Arizona where they have the likes of Joe Arpaio, who probably would have been run out of the old west, who treats prisoners like serfs that owed a debt to the vicaire in the dark ages. Where he fits I don't know, but it isn't anywhere in America of the free. It is more likely in about 13th century France or Spain where they treated prisoners like this and tortured many people as well as executed them. Not only are the police shooting people down in the US now in a wholesale manner but prisoners are also dying at a record rate in prison. Now they are torturing them in an act that ends in death. Maybe a sign of the cross for both the people that do this and the ones who are the recipients is in order!

Clearly you have never been the victim of a rape.  Your carefree attitude that all can be forgiven and forgotten should stay in preschool while you hold hands and sing.

I had the unfortunate opportunity to be the attending physician to a woman and child who had their heads beaten in by a table lamp from a robber.  The child died, the woman was in a coma for about 2 months and then started rehab.  What do you think we should do with the attacker?  Deport him to an island like Australia?  Give him a house and public assistance so he won't have to steal?  Or just release him to kill others (he murdered 3 people before the 2 I saw)?

Your enlightenment has no solution, only critique  Roll Eyes
1166  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: What is the best pool?? 5.2mh gridseed on: July 24, 2014, 09:59:34 PM
This is the bitcoin forum, and you probably don't want to be using Gridseed for mining BTC.  Ask over in the alt-coin subforum.
1167  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Dell : Possible plans to enter mining sector on: July 24, 2014, 09:32:43 PM
It's the future of BTC mining, wether you want it or not. Entry level is getting higher and higher every day, it's harder and harder to get ASIC's for avarage joe and break even on top of that. In not so distant future, only large entities will mine BTC with profit....that's one place where BTC's idea of decentralization failed horribly.

Thats what im saying for a long time now. Ever since ASICs hit the mining field, bitcoin core idea is broken.
Now mining has evolved to pure industry mining, with little or no place for average Joe to mine something other than worthless alts.

Yes I agree with you.  MY impression was always that Bitcoinw as developed as a way to let everyone, even the little guy, have a piece of the pie.  Once the price of BTC got high enough, of course, industry followed and now most people are priced out of buying a legit piece of hardware to seriously mine.  It is a flaw, no doubt.  I think scrypt tried to fix that but aren't there even ASICs that work on scrypt now coming out?  Is there no way to keep the "little guy" in the game? (I mean with some other type of alt coin)

When the possible risk of losing money comes into play for the manufacturers that's when the litle guy would be able to eek out a profit.  Right now it's too easy for the manufacturers to make them, "test" them for a month and ship them (Bitmain possibly being an exception to the rule).
1168  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The actual effects of BTC diff. increases on earnings.....? on: July 24, 2014, 09:29:38 PM
The amount of money you make is directly inverse to the difficulty increase (if you factor out luck).  If the difficulty doubles, you make 1/2.  If the difficulty goes up 10%, you make 1/1.1 or roughly 10% less.
1169  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Explain the peaks? on: July 24, 2014, 09:27:39 PM
Can someone explain this hashrate peaks and why does it always go down after it peaked up?

And we are still completely missing the theoretical hashrate from Big Fucking Liars?

Because the manufacturer test the mining gear before shipping out.

Yeah, we all know how they are "testing" them...
On the serious note, testing is supposed to be dont on testnet, and not on the real bitcoin network.
This is pure customer ripoff, since they're mining while its most profitable, and then they ship products that are likely never to ROI.

This has been going on since the first ASIC release.  The only way to keep the companies from mining is to own the company yourself.  If you can throw down 5-25 million you can have your own custom ASIC with no premining....err testing  Cheesy
1170  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: S1 or S3 miner, Dusty location? on: July 24, 2014, 09:04:09 PM
The finer the filtering material the more often you will have to clean the filter but the less often you will have to open the miners and clear the heatsink.  It's your choice - clean the external filter or the internal heatsink.
1171  Other / Off-topic / Re: Fuck Summer! on: July 24, 2014, 12:36:02 PM
It will be 98F where I live today, and about 30 miles farther inland it will be 107.  Yeah, summer can kiss my ass.  Bitcoiners should launch a campaign to have everything painted white to reflect sunlight and drop the Earths temps  Grin
1172  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where I'd Want to Be During an Earthquake on: July 24, 2014, 12:24:25 PM
I want to be the hell away from the hospital I work at because I know that place is coming down hard.  Last 5.7 earthquake we had in 1987 separated the hospital between the 2 wards by 6 inches.  A 6.5+ will bring parts if not all of it down - don't feel like being a patient.
1173  Other / Off-topic / Re: Whats the best product to get my 70 year old dad on the internet? on: July 24, 2014, 12:15:27 PM
Considering most 70 year olds need reading glasses I would get a 10 inch tablet.  7 is probably too small.  You could get the 9 inch Mac Air if you have money, but the Windows tablets are actually easier to use and made for kids and older peeps.

My mom doesn't really know how to surf on a computer but she's able to manage with a 4 year old Acer Asprice 10.1 tablet  - I've given her 3 new tablets and she always prefers the clunky old Acer for whatever reason.
1174  Other / Off-topic / Re: Would you serve revenge or leave it alone? on: July 24, 2014, 12:10:47 PM
Depends on what the revenge is for. Somebody cuts me off on the freeway I ignore it and just wish they drive into a pole.  Somebody hacks my TF2 server I just quit playing the game.

Somebody murders my family then I have nothing to live for (even though I could start a new life) and I would go Liam Neeson Taken on them.
1175  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is your dream job? on: July 24, 2014, 12:05:47 PM
I wanted to be a Space Shuttle astronaut - but that's no longer a career opportunity so I went for the next best thing - bag boy at my local supermarket  Grin
1176  Other / Politics & Society / Re: UK to decriminalize file sharing on: July 24, 2014, 11:59:59 AM
The media companies have their hands in everybody's pockets.  You can't even show a Blu-Ray disc if you legally purchased it to a patient sitting in a doctor's office (i'm not even talking about the waiting room, I'm talking about a private area like an exam room or dentist's chair) because it's considered public display.  For that you need to buy a $667 (guess they didn't want $666) license from MPLS when they send you a cease & desist letter.
1177  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: stolen coins on: July 24, 2014, 11:49:08 AM
Using a long password is by far the best security.

A long password doesn't equal to a strong password.
"abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" is long but is not as good as "%1Q&wc8r9!S8".

Also, if you have malware on your computer, your password will get compromised as soon as you set it up...

That's only true if you're assuming the attacker would only use roman alphabet dictionary for the attack.  This first password you noted "abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz" while having a smaller dictionary is significantly longer to have a much higher entropy.

Ideally if you're going to use long passwords, just jumble some words together and flip one word backwards (radio in this case) like "froghitbananaeschewnineteenpinkcamelotoidar" - even a dictionary based attack would take years if it had to try to guess 1 or more words backwards.

Remember - if you make it too hard to remember you will lose those coins for good.  Search for all the people who came on here posting that they can't remember their password or they must have miskeyed a word - it's sad.
1178  Other / Politics & Society / Re: More Employment #s Nonsense by Vice President Biden on: July 24, 2014, 11:32:46 AM
A record number of jobs, yay!

That's right, fire everybody in American who had a 40 hour a week job.  Rehire 2 people to work 20 hour a week jobs so the employer doesn't have to pay for health insurance which is now completely unaffordable since men have to pay for mammograms.

That Biden is a genius.  Makes that Sarah Palin chick look stupid.

For those who missed it, that was a heavy dose of sarcasm and dread. Biden is Sarah without the lipstick.
1179  Other / Politics & Society / Re: JUST IN: Air Algerie loses contact with plane over Africa on: July 24, 2014, 11:26:34 AM
There is no evidence of a crash yet I do not understand why everyone lost hope all we can do is pray now and hope nothing bad happens. Aviation must do an over hull of security, communication, and mechanics. This is really sad Angry

5 hours no communication is assumed to be a crash unless there was suspicion of a possible hijacking.  NTSB always assumes a crash has occurred once there is no communication past the point where the plane would run out of fuel.
