It sound too good to be real  Tongue

The source is his imagination and it did not come true.

I'm sure it materialized in his mind.  Apparently he also married Cindy Crawford  Tongue
462  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Solo Mining on an S3 with 51.1 Difficulty - here we go! on: July 31, 2015, 12:46:13 PM
Other than the fun factor, the reality in numbers is that BTC should be purchased with fiat currently instead of chased with obsolete mining hardware.

No dramatic changes coming this month from the hardware side.
465  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Generate power from thermoelectric generator on a miner on: June 13, 2015, 06:48:28 AM
Thermoelectric generators (TEG) have low conversion efficiency, below 5% at temperature differentials of 80 deg C.

some quick reading on wikipedia and youll find this true; typical TEG's have 5-8% efficiency, pretty bad. factor in the "efficiency" of the energy to heat produced by the miner, and you get an even lower value. hard to justify the investment for a TEG setup with these values.

I think you meant efficacy of the miners.  Their heat efficiency is pretty much 100% since they're not generating matter  Grin

In most places, fossil fuels are still the most economical heat source but they're not 100% efficient since the polluted exhaust causes heat loss from the heating system.  For electrical systems this can often be dumped into the ambient air that is being heated.
466  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What about our old miners? on: May 14, 2015, 03:30:56 AM
There is no point holding onto these old relics.  Should the Bitcoin/fiat price ever spike you can be sure the unethical manufacturers would have no problem deploying their newest miners.  If it's not worth it to mine on the miner now, then it most likely would be better to just buy bitcoin with fiat currently and hold in anticipation.
467  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Do miners pay TAX over their earnings?? on: April 29, 2015, 01:32:01 AM
Please let me know if you have Knowledge or experience with this.
yes bitcoin miners or any other cryptocurrency miner needs to pay tax too..and additnally they have to pay the electricity bills and many more..hope u go for asic mining

NO you dont. You can choose to not pay.

Why ever you pay tax? thats free all cash in hand type of money, but if you want to pay extra be my guest. Elecrcity bills is the only bill so I dont know what else which you need to pay regardless if it wasnt mining youd still be paying for.

The difference is not depositing the money in a checkings account.

exactly. You choose to pay tax.

bitcoin is about changing and decentralizing the /'system'' continuing to pay into the empire kitty is only perpetuating the cycle that is everything bitcoin stands to topple!

Empire kitty?  I bet you have one of those hipster Anonymous V for Vendetta masks as well.  Stop being a leech and support the infrastructure for things like the electrical grid and healthcare that you are indirectly (ie immunizations for the masses) and directly (internet access that you have access to without some random company censoring everything you write) using.

469  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: help! paid for 5 miners through minerslab on: April 01, 2015, 07:04:22 PM
Must have been an easy $11.5K to acquire.  I spend over 30 minutes researching a $200 computer part.  For a $11.5k purchase I would have vetted the company and used a credit card.
470  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Quantum computing on: March 18, 2015, 12:40:14 PM
The halving coming up next year will have more of an impact on miners than quantum computing in the foreseeable future.
471  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Turning off miners on: March 05, 2015, 05:48:08 AM
Turned my miners off 6 months ago as it was getting to the point of no return on braking even each day and eventually started costing more in energy then it was producing BTC and the drop in prices and energy costs continue to spike or go up is not cost effective. It was a hobby but turning out to be way to expensive. I will only put my miners to work when a new sha coin comes along and mine it for a few days to get a chunk of them. Maybe when something comes along to be better or btc prices go up then might consider to turn back on but right now their staying off until prices are better or theirs a better alt coin out to mine.
why dont you sell the miners , and then later on buy an more updated ASIIC for the money ? imo this would be the most economic choice atleast.

When miners are obsolete for generating a profit, the consideration of having to pay shipping costs would ensure that the buyer would be more likely to incur a loss (in almost any case except where a buyer has free power).
472  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: February 25, 2015, 06:42:21 AM
difficulty is near a record hight but the price certainly isn't. people would expect the price to reflect the higher difficulty.

I was surprised that the price didn't went up after higher difficulty, its harder to get 1 bitcoin now should reflect the price.

The unscrupulous mining companies that dominate the scene have no interest in BTC for the most part - they're looking for short term profit and dumping BTC as it's mined - hence no pent up demand.
473  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Renting office space with included utilities (electric, cooling) for mining on: February 20, 2015, 06:44:02 AM
Liability is your single biggest cost if something goes wrong.  One electrical fire and the whole building can burn down and unless you're insured for the risk that you are committing then you can possibly go into debt over $1 million trying to chase a couple thousand.
474  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: February 03, 2015, 07:31:07 AM
Looks like quite a few marginal miners flipping the switch on/off with difficulty changes.

I see they're taking a page out of the BFL playbook but they're a little more skillful.

478  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Need a Reliable PSU on: December 26, 2014, 03:25:37 AM
I am making a bitcoin (BTC) mining farm with 10 ANTMINER S5's.
https://bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=000201412...

IMPORTANT: I don't have to pay for power so efficiency doesn't matter.

Specifications
Hash Rate: 1155 GH/s ±5%
Power Consumption: 590 W (at the wall)
Power Efficiency: 0.51 J/GH (at the wall)
Rated Voltage: 12V
Dimensions: 298 mm x 137 mm x 155 mm
Cooling: 1x 12038 fan
Operating Conditions: 0 °C to 35 °C

Notes
PSU: A power supply unit is not included, and you will need to provide an ATX PSU. There are 4 PCI-e connectors for +12V DC input and all four are required. Do not connect more than one PSU to the same hashing board.

I am going to be running these 24/7

Keep in mind that a lower efficiency PSU will ultimately put out more heat to do the same amount of work - so if cooling is going to be an issue it might be better to spend a little more and get a Gold PSU over a Bronze.
479  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: The difficulty HAS BEEN REDUCED!!!! on: December 10, 2014, 08:13:19 PM
Basically it has been sustained unrelenting growth ever since the 1/2ing back in the end of 2012.  Don't look at the difficulty back then, it will make you cry.

I dont think the diff was lowering before 2012, its always going up (good for us people hello? There is 21m total)

We just hope the future make us cry on happyness more than the past  Roll Eyes

It went down several times in 2012.  In fact when BTC crashed to $2 in early 2012 difficulty went back to 1 million before bouncing back towards the end of the year even with the Pirate scandal.
