No they are not what?  It might help if you posted the actual email.  Who did you email? what did you ask?

This comes off as utterly lame.  50+ pages of talk about a scam.  Hell the original post is this is a scam and YOU are asking for money.  Shit makes me think you are the scam.

HAHAHAHAHAH YEAH I AM A SCAMMER?

I am merely trying to help the gullable. Don't send money I dont care but I figured it couldnt hurt. I havent received anything except what I have mined myself and you can verify that in block explorer. I just figured it couldnt hurt.

Your ease at which you try and insult and discredit me only makes me believe you have sunk money into this scam and are hoping it isnt.

I think this proves it folks. Its a scam as I and others have been saying.

DO NOT SEND THEM ANYMORE MONEY!

IF YOU SENT THEM MONEY TRY AND GET IT BACK ASAP

Sorry folks, if its too good to be true it probably is.

WTH are you talking about? And, what did you get to the bottom of exactly? ;p

Scam or not, the legitimacy of a company registration has zero value on the list of 'Proof this is a scam'.....................

and go look up, 'Registered Agent'.  In fact, you will find my wife is a registered agent for atleast 3 companies with her address and zero connection to the actual business the companies perform other than that fact.. It is not a smoking gun......

You are clearly in denial here sir. The first address provided is a residential address for welfare recipients. The other so called proof that is a business is a company that says BF Labs Inc does not exist to their registered address. Two different cities, two different fake addresses. Sounds like a smoking gun to a scam to me and about as much as you can until they disappear from the internet with everyones money.

Your lack of willingness to believe this is a scam based on this post and your other posts (I have read the entire thread to come to this conclusion) means you probably sunk $500 or more into this and are hoping it isnt true. I too have had this denial when I was scammed in the past. If it were legit there would be proof by now. By coming on here and making people believe it is legit they are just trying to lure in more victims and I bet they have been successful.

The 100 only limit is a great idea for a scammer. Put a limited quantity of a too good to be true product and people will be rushing to buy it.

Don't take my word for it if you want but you will be sorry.

If you understand how a registration agent works you will understand they won't tell you anything about any company they represent.  Ever.

They might not but you never know. Some people do have a conscience and since I mentioned possible scam and asked very professionally and politely you never know. This is also registered as their mailing address according to their business registration.

If they do not provide any further details it only goes to further prove this is a scam.

Some people who fall victims to a scam want to believe it so bad that they will ignore some very valid scrutiny (photoshoped photos, KC loft address, etc). I have done this sort of thing in the past only to be burned. Hopefully finding one more hole in their scam will be enough for someone to back off and say to themselves that its not worth losing $500 to find out.

Heat doesn't grow plants, homie, light does.

Providing heat is rarely the issue with indoor cultivation; exhausting it nearly always is.

^ this

You could switch your mining rigs off, use the same electricity to power some decent HPS lights and grow yourself some scrog-grown powerplant, sell the product, and you will earn far more than you could by mining bitcoins Wink

[*check your local laws before attempting. lol]

+100

Growing marijuana is thousands of times more profitable than mining Bitcoins but is unfortunately illegal (and for that reason more profitable). If it could be done legally I think I would have myself a new career, even with the significantly reduced profit margin.

This being said some people have been raided by the police because they thought their electricity consumption was due to a "grow op" rather than their mining rigs.

Kind of a sad state of affairs the world is where you can get searched and raided just for using more electricity (even when you are paying for it).

Ok folks here is the link provided to their so called registration in an earlier post:

https://wyobiz.wy.gov/Business/FilingDetails.aspx?FilingNum=2011-000606261

Please note the registered address and mailing address is 5830 E 2nd St Casper, WY 82609 USA

Google street view this address and realize that google cannot find it directly but gives an adress at 4800... I tried going either way but could not find the place.

Also this is a different address than the kansas city one which is highly suspicious to me. All of this and the photoshopped photos are all the proof I need to know this is an elaborate scam. At $1000 price point not many people will have much interest but at $500 you will get a lot more people interested and therefore more buyers (victims).

As I mentioned I have been a victim to a few very elaborate scams in the past and I look with an increased scrutiny at anything that sounds too good to be true. That being said everything about this seems like a scam. Even if they get 200 orders thats 100k which is significantly more than many people make in a year and makes it more than worthwhile.

If anyone would like to donate to me for pointing out how obvious of a scam this is and finding yet another hole in their story you can send donations to 1LYme1ZD82VuvwGj4Zi7scrjRBuQnciyKK (I do not think I will receive any but who knows someone might be grateful they didnt just lose $500).

Edit:

Also notice it is registered to Nancy Hernandez. Hey BFL is your name Nancy Hernandez by chance?

Edit 2:

Address is Executive Suites of Casper --> Checking business listings now

Welcome to last week, month, year.  That is a company that holds itself as 'registered agent' for companies that they register. Meaning, any company that this place registers will say 'nancy hernandez' and that same address... In itself, it is meningless where their company is registered or not at.

I understand the services these type of business provide and I have emailed an adminstrator with this company requesting information if BF Labs Inc. is registered there and if it is also Butterfly Labs inc. I have alerted them to the possiblity that this may be a scam and will update this thread when I hear a reply.

If this is indeed another company then I am wasting your time and this company is clearly not registered which only further proves this is a scam. Scammers are very good at convincing their target audience that they are legitimate and if possible I would like to prove this either way.

Also if you think about it; If you are going to scam a community of technically capable people for as much money how are you going to go about it?

You are going to make your scam as legitimate and believable as you can. Scams are 100% profit so the more you can convince victims the more money you will make and at $500/board with comparable FPGAs you will find a lot of buyers.

Beware people until we have 100% confirmation. I am by no means an idiot but I have fallen victim to a scam or two in the past. This whole thing reeks way too much to be true. If I am wrong I will eat my dirty socks lol.
1149  Other / Off-topic / Re: 1GH/s, 20w, $500 — Butterflylabs, is it a scam? on: November 12, 2011, 02:18:46 AM
I know I am a bit late to get into this but I would like to add that this seems like a very elaborate hoax to me. The registered adresss on the business registration that someone provided can not really be found by google street view. It is a different address in a different city than kansas city. I would think the photoshopped product photos and lack of publicly displayed address would be more than enough proof to people.

Anything that is too good to be true usually is.

That being said if this is legit I may buy a few boards myself but will be waiting for confirmation from several trusted users in this forum. My guess is they already have over 100 pre-orders and have already made their 50k... A couple more weeks (which BFL has asked for at least twice now) and all traces of this scam will be gone.

Please be careful people
1150  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Troubleshooting on: November 11, 2011, 11:13:21 PM
Thanks for all the help guys. Electricity cost isnt a problem for me at all since I rent. My landlord decided to jack up my rent $50 by waiting until january instead of the $8 that would be if they would have done it normally. As a result I have no qualms about using extra electricity to mine coins inefficiently.

I will try updating my drivers again tonight and run with f- 5 tonight when I do to bed.

The -w flag did not seem to make any difference whether at 128 256 or just not included at all. It appears the vectoring made a huge difference. I havent installed MSI afterburner yet but i hear good things. Someone at work told me that if overdrive in catalyst wont let me make changes that afterburner wouldnt though. Overdrive is enabled by default (my card is OC'd stock) but will not let me change any clock speeds.

Update:

Updated to 11.10 and it works fine now. Must have been a driver interaction issue with Nvidia. Thank you to whoever suggested this first. It boosted my mining rate to 340.6 steady. Overdrive lets me change the clocks up to 840Mhz for the core now but does not let me adjust the memory speed below 1300Mhz. This boosted my mining to 345 without specifying the -f flag. I tried running afterburner but it still will not let me clock past 840Mhz. That is fine and I will keep that setting for the forseeable future. I tried underclocking the memory but even that would not allow me to push the core speed any faster.

Update 2:

Tried the -f flag and it seems to make no difference. I have it set at f -2 and it performs the same as not being specified. I think its safe to say that with my 6950 the only flag that improves hash rate is the vector one.
1151  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Troubleshooting on: November 11, 2011, 04:00:49 AM
Is there a reason I should only set the affinity to 1 core? I have 6 cores and if there is any performance gain I wouldn't mind using them. For polcbm I use all 6 assuming there is some benefit but I havent tweaked it a whole lot. I removed the workload clause form polcbm and it performs the same as with it so it appears to have little to no effect on the 6950. I have a Corsair A50 on my CPU it and I havent even broken 35C on prime95 even so thermals are not an issue for me on the CPU.

I might try cgminer next and report on my results in this thread.

Update

Cannot get cgminer to extract because every time I do my antivirus detects it as a "trojan". I know its a false positive because some people must be using it in botnets. Just out of curiosity what kind of performance gains should I expect if I use this over polcbm with my current settings?

Update 2

Trying to connect to deepbit to no avail with CGminer. I added an exception so that it would no longer be detected as a false positive. I notice it isnt on their list of supported miners but sometimes it can take about 10 minutes or so to connect normally.

Update 3

CONNECTED!!! Running at 330Mhash/s instead of 330-340 though. polcbm with -v as a flag enabled appears to be faster. Shortly after it dropped to 230Mhash and it doesnt appear to be using any CPU's... Back to guiminer I guess. Do you have any other suggestions? It started out strong (not as strong as polcbm) and then just declined
1152  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Troubleshooting on: November 11, 2011, 02:29:47 AM
So I am using the default miner on guiminer without any extra flags and I am getting about 310 Mhash/s. I will be primarily mining at night and while I am at work so I have no qualms about my computer being slow to respond. My graphics card is XFX Radeon 6950 ZNDC XXX.

Can anyone give me any tips on how to optimize my mining without damaging my graphics card?
The default clocks for my card are:
Core Clock:   830 MHz
Memory Clock:   5200 MHz

I have read that I can push the core clock to 880Mhz on stock voltages which I would prefer to stay on.

Flags/Reccommended clock speeds, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Also as per my last post if anyone could confirm SDK should work properly with this card with the latest graphics drivers that would be great (11.10).

Update

With Phoenix and "-k phatk2 VECTORS BFI_INT FASTLOOP=false AGGRESSION=11" I am getting 340Mhash/s. Quite an improvement but cannot get deepbit to connect with phoenix.

Update 2

With default miner and "-v -w256" I am getting 330-340... acceptable now
May try pushing hte core speed to 850 tomorrow but im happy with what I am getting, especially since I was getting 35Mhash/s with my GTS250. Still no confirmation on Catalyst 11.10's ability to run SDK properly.
1153  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Mining Troubleshooting on: November 11, 2011, 02:20:51 AM
I just tried removing all drivers including the Catalyst 11.10 and installed 11.07.

07 is the last version I see officially supported by SDK on its AMD page and I can once again mine. If/when I update my drivers to 11.10 I suspect it will stop working again. Can anyone confirm SDK works on Catalyst version 11.10?
1154  Other / Beginners & Help / Mining Troubleshooting on: November 10, 2011, 11:41:07 PM
Hi everyone,

I have just upgraded from a GTS 250 to an HD 6950 for mining and gaming but I cannot seem to get mining to work on the new card.

Every time i launch guiminer it says no OpenCL devices installed. If I check in GPU-Z it does not say OpenCL is supported but according the the specs for the card 1.1 should be.

I have tried installing the latest version of steam SDK and have the latest graphics drivers installed as well (Catalyst 11.10). If it helps I am running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Phenom II X6 1090T on a Sabertooth 990FX board.

Any help is appreciated as I would like to get mining by the time I go to bed again tonight.
1155  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Looking to buy bitcoins on: November 10, 2011, 01:30:24 AM
Never heard of this linden dollars only the other exchanges. After some of the exchanges were so short lived I would be weary of putting any money in anything other than MtGox or tradehill. Just make sure your passwords are extra secure and not shared with any other site. Don't forget to always be vigilant when it comes to bitcoins.
1156  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: It's Over on: November 10, 2011, 01:27:45 AM
I think naturally the price of a bitcoin will settle around the cost of the electricity to mine them. Coincidentally it costs more to produce a bitcoin than it is worth right now so I think eventually it should settle out around $5/BTC. Of course if the new ATI 7xxx series performs as well as the current 6xxx series for mining with half the electricity costs it might be at its stabilized value now. Electricity costs have zero effect on my willingness to mine since I live in an apartment and my landlord recently decided to jack my rent by $40 instead of the $8 which was prescribed for this year. If I can spend an extra $60/month on mining purely out of spite I will.
1157  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Farmer market on: November 10, 2011, 01:22:44 AM
This is great start and I encourage you to encourage other farmers to start doing the same. Hyperinflation of nationally controlled currencies seems almost inevitable given the current climate and the more people that can move to a anti-inflationary currency like bitcoins the better. This is a real solution the OWS protesters should be pushing.

Best of luck with your Beans for Bitcoins!
1158  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: HELP! on: November 10, 2011, 01:18:43 AM
Command line based mining can be a bit of a bother to perform and for that reason I have not tried. There is a GUI based miner that runs in windows and if im not mistaken there is a windows emulator in Mac OS'. You can try running the GUIminer in that emulator but im not sure if it would be choked back by the OS. As someone else said unless you have a 5xxx or 6xxx card you will likely be disappointed in your mining speed. I have been mining for over a week with a GTS 250 on my downtime and average 36 MHash/s but I will have my 6950 tomorrow which I hope to be mining at least at 350Mhash.
1159  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I have 0.5 BTC left over, does anyone have an idea to grow it to 1 BTC? on: November 10, 2011, 01:15:11 AM
One way to "grow" it to 1 BTC would be to do some mining for yourself. Depending on your GPU it may or may not take a very long time.
1160  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ROI figures for a mining rig? on: November 10, 2011, 01:13:13 AM
There is a great wiki article on what cards/cpus can generate in Mhash/s. All you need to do is google bitcoin mining gpu and it will be on the top of the list. It lists the prices in $/Mhash and even J/Mhash. From there you should be able to calculate cost/performance of any rig you would like to build. The number of possibly combinations would be too great to list and are dependent on local energy prices. To be honest if I wasnt in an apartment and had to pay for my electricity I probably wouldnt be mining. That being said my landlords charge enough and can suck it lol.
