I just had to post it because the number of ghost lines and therefore apparent bot moves were just fascinating. I find now that the best view is to zoom into 5000BTC to see what is happening at a micro (not macro) level in the market.
1002  Economy / Speculation / Occupy Wall Street and BTC Prices on: November 20, 2011, 06:02:05 AM
It seems to me that many of the people who are from the OWS movement would be supporters of the BTC movement. Given that so many of them are camping out in various occupy protests around the world I can't help but think that this is affecting current BTC prices through non activity/involvement from them. Just opening the door to a conversation here but I think this may have prices temporarily lower than they should be.

Wow
1004  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 05:46:45 AM
Seems to be working... for now.
1005  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 05:43:29 AM
From all the moves I have seen over the last 10 minutes I would say they are trying to trigger a rally now. Should be interesting to see if they pull it off or if it backfires.
1006  Economy / Speculation / Re: How many of you have been Zhoutonged? on: November 20, 2011, 05:27:24 AM
So the little spike up to $2.50 that we just saw, did that take out a bunch of short orders? Maybe Bitcoinica caused it, since the price has now dropped back down almost to where it started 15 minutes ago.

Nah, that was someone trying to troll all the shorts. I hope none of you were liquidated and that you're hanging on.

We have decreased the default leverage, so volatility like this doesn't hurt most people. But some guys requested a change-back...

About 1/4 to 1/3 of the trades you see are from Bitcoinica. We tried to randomize our price and amount, but the pattern is still quite obvious. There are a lot of limit orders and stop orders at the price range, so we didn't hedge too much.

When will people learn not to use their maximum leverage? Max leverage = lower risk tolerance. Leave some breathing room, guys! Jeeze..

It's kind of sad that most brokers encourage their clients to use leverage, simply for more commission profits. We're terribly trained by our bankers and brokers.

Well then I guess its a good thing I dont trust bankers nor do I have a broker. The bankers used to make a lot of money off me but as of 2 weeks from now it will be a net loss to them and for the last several months it has been less than $3. If you do not have the currency to spend then you should not be spending it. Period.

The problem is, savings is evil (inflation), and credit is also evil (interest rates).

Fiat currencies are for economic growth, but they are invented for the rich.

Taking money from the poor and distribute it to the rich is good for economic growth, because the rich is good at making money for the country, therefore they technically deserve more economic power. We all hate it but it's just a sad truth.

It's hard to come up with an alternative. That's why government is a mess.

I just think we need some modern day robin hoods. Kill and steal from the rich to give to the poor (yes the historical version is much more brutal than the disney one). Maybe then they will think twice about supressing their subjects and subjecting them to abject poverty. Either way I am on neither side of the fence for now unless you count my RPP in which the rich bastards I work for match 100% of my contibutions which I would be stupid not to max out lol.

I hope that a few of the people praying for $1 BTC were liquidated. Other than that I hope everyone else was ok though. That was quite the little rally though.
1009  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 04:21:34 AM
Make that 2.50
1010  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 04:19:32 AM
Holy Rally Batman! We just hit 2.38
1011  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 04:15:44 AM
Our manipulator just made poo poo. You should create some forum threads about that  Roll Eyes

As someone with Czech heritage, I take offense to your troll sir lol. Hoveno (dont know how its spelled but thats how its proncounced)!

I havent see enough to convince me he has done so however.
1012  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 03:28:36 AM
Sell walls moving rapidly again. Seems like the sells at 2.30-2.32 have all move simaltaneously to 2.34. Serious resistance at that level but not a whole lot dropping down to 2.24. Definitely a lot of movement going on tonight on both sides of walls.
1013  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 01:53:47 AM
whoever just bough in after the second big bullish candle: would be nice if you explain that movement to me. looks pretty strange.

buy high, sell low? Wink

I didnt but heres an idea. The sky isn't falling lol.

The ghost lines are interesting because you can see the speed at which walls are set up and moved which is astonishing and definitely is the result of some computer programming.
1014  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 01:47:43 AM
Manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator, manipulator.

MHUHAHAHA. Now your head is exploded.

Guess you should have been wearing your tin-foil hat #9 (Yes I am a Futurama fan). Interestingly enough on the internet no one can hear you scream (unless you have your microphone on).
1015  Economy / Speculation / Re: Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 01:39:15 AM
Well this manipulator manipulates on a very large scale. Interestingly enough he clawed back his sell walls at 2.30
1016  Economy / Speculation / Our manipulator appears to be selling now on: November 20, 2011, 01:34:24 AM
I just noticed a bunch of sell walls appear all at once which is the signature of our manipulator. Is he trying to drive the price down so he can buy more or is he trying to rid himself of the coins he purchased at the lower pirce. Its always possible that he is trying to confuse us. The fact that there are computer generated bid walls and computer generated sell walls sure does confuse me.
1017  Economy / Speculation / Re: "Aaaaaaand the waaaallllls... on: November 20, 2011, 12:43:23 AM
... sometimes.

yes, sometimes.

if he pulls back his huge walls now, price will be at least below $1.8. i saw how the bidwalls looke before he pulled up his insane 1.000.000 BTC-buy wall, it looked even shittier than the askwalls in this moment (and they look like shit).

whoever thinks this is the lowest point of bitcoin: this walls are 95% fake. we all saw them appear out of nowhere, they simply do not reflect the real demand of bitcoins. be warned, it will fall further.

THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!
1018  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prediction Thread (PRIZES INSIDE!) on: November 19, 2011, 10:28:32 PM
If it reaches 1.70 the price would temporarily settle at around 1.85 before it hit there.
1019  Economy / Speculation / Re: We were all heading to cheap bitcoins, until the manipulator stepped in on: November 19, 2011, 09:06:27 PM
I agree with you 100% Jonahan. I honestly look forward to a bitcoin that I can actually use and spend, without worrying about price fluctuations etc.

You think the fluctuations will get smaller when bitcoins cost less? A change from 3.10 to 2.50 in a day is the same as a fluctuation from 0.31 to 0.25 in a day. As the price goes down the volatility will probably increase, as it will take smaller amounts of money to influence the money. The fluctuations will continue until there are enough goods, services priced in bitcoins to hold the price steady, and enough money on both sides of the aisle (in bitcoins on one side and dollars, euros, pounds, etc. on the other) that no one person can significantly move the market.

+1

This is why I have been questioning people why they think $1 BTC is a good thing. Its actually very bad because it won't take as much to manipulate the price.
1020  Economy / Speculation / Re: We were all heading to cheap bitcoins, until the manipulator stepped in on: November 19, 2011, 08:17:55 PM
Seriously, are you guys not thinking this through?  Bitcoin will not be stable at $1 (or any price)!  What, do you honestly think that we'll drop to $1 and then, THEN, the manipulator will spend his $200,000 without causing significant volatility?  I'm mean, seriously guys, come on.

I'm beginning to think that when some of you say that you want bitcoin to be stable what you mean is that you want its value to constantly go up.

LOL. Good point proudhon.

Though I do think we can achieve a stable bitcoin, but ONLY when there is real commercial activity in the bitcoin economy. When people NEED to buy bitcoins to obtain goods or services, we will have real demand. So if the price falls, people will buy a LOT for the future needs. That is true stability and we will get there eventually.

If we want stability we all need to invest in bitcoin businesses, buy as many goods with bitcoin as we can, and use it as it was intended to be used rather than all this money being pumped into a casino game. If you don't want to use bitcoin, or don't believe that it will be accepted anywhere in the future, there is very little point in trading it. Just liquidate your holdings and give the coins to people who WILL use them properly.

Im still waiting for someone to create a pool to do some processing such as Folding @ Home for bitcoins. This is a real commerce and could easily be accomodated. CHOP CHOP People!
