I think there is about to be another play by the bots. I may be crazy but I have been noticing them coming into action every hour today, almost always a few minutes within the beginning of the hour. Hmm
Wait another hour before the big moving takes place. I have noticed that the last several bot battles seem to occur at 1AM EST. It used to be 3AM EST but they have moved it up 2 hours. |

I believe we are headed down. I speculate that the only reason the market has not yet headed down is because there are certain traders/bots (Bitconica?) which have been artificially inflating the price. I've watched the same patterns play out over and over again the past few days: push price up $.20, implement wall at -$.25 of the high the price went up to, sell some BTC at higher price then BAM, down $.20 within seconds, only for the same pattern to start all over again. Dunno exactly why this pattern keeps happening perhaps some high frequency traders are trying to squeeze out every last penny before a bear market truly sets in.
Just noticed 0.123 bot is back. I've seen the bot mentioned in the forums before but have never truly paid attention to its actions until today.
The 0.123 bot is back with a vengeance indeed. From what I have observed in the past this bot seems to drive the price up. Is this how the price gets inflated with virtually no volume? The bot tries to trigger other bots which creates volume. The 0.123 bot comes out when volume is low and tends to increase it, causing a change in price. Can you actually see these as bids and asks in the order book, or do they just occur as immediate buys/sells ? They just occur as immediate buys/sells. Other bots have fake walls with warning indicators ahead of them that will cause the walls to be pulled if they are bought or sold into. Of course when liquidations are occurring at bitcoinica they usually cannot pull them out fast enough. The fake walls are usually evident by having nice round numbers 100, 200, etc and evenly are usually spaced apart. There are a few 1000BTC walls closer to $7 I question the legitimacy of. The best way to look at the order book I find is on clark moody. |

I think the real purpose of the bot is to force movement in one direction or the other. It is profitable to do so if you are holding the right positions with the correct strategy. My comment about it typically being up is just an observation but I believe it does not care about direction.

Is there a binary trading platform for bitcoin. For example, I bet 100 Bitcoins that Bitcoins will be over $7 in 7 days. If it is then I make 200 Bitcoins, if I am wrong then I lose the 100 Bitcoins. That would be an interesting idea but wouldn't work out too well for the house. I am sure someone could make as site facilitating this but they would require their own fee to be taken out of the final prize pool (say 1% or 2BTC). My vision of this would be a site that would match you up with someone who is willing to bet 100BTC it won't be. |

I am going to be conservative and say $6.50-$7.00 but the last week or so is really starting to remind me of the $2-$3 range in which the price seemed to stagnate before taking off.

Hitting a low of 6.10 after days of trading in the 6.35-6.60 range. It took two large dumps of 10K BTC to get it there too. Like I said it wasn't of the order of magnitude I was expecting but it was significant.

since we have now day 3 with the * on the buy side.. i see some interesting things going on in future..^^
if someone go short is a fool, because that give money to bitcoinica and that will give fuel so ppl can buy and go against your position That is unless someone go's short big time and starts another liquidation snowball effect. It could go both ways. Too many shorts on bitcoinica when people are buying on MTGox is how you have large spikes up. Too many longs when the action moves on MTGox causes large spikes down. I have noticed that when these spikes do occur it typically bounces back to market price within seconds only to move out of the range again. They are very profitable if you can catch them and predict the magnitude before they occur. |

It wasn't quite as big of a movement as I was expecting but we did shift out of the trading range we were stuck at the other day. When I look back at the history on clark moody I do see a number of 10k BTC spikes in volume that changed the price. This actually might be a good sign that we are very stable above $6. |

BTC set to hit $8 by end of day. Not only do I feel the spiritual energy of bull, but I saw an ant climb UP a wall. I did not see any grasshoppers, so there should be little bear resistance. Also, look at this graph.  Sorry I only accept readings from magic beans. |

market adopts to us, we adopt to market. vicious circle watch, no one is going to say anything or opposite of what they want to say will be fun times adopts or adapts? We just had a little movement there with that 600BTC volume. Could be a sign of things to come. |

Nice try! I'll just do the opposite of YOUR post and follow what the majority says! Who's with me? That only works of the majority of posters hold the majority of the coins and they are not lying about their position to try to get you into the opposite. If you have been here long enough you would know it almost always goes the opposite way as everyone says. It is the big players who decide where the market goes and not one of them would be dumb enough to give away their position (the one who did is now thread of the year). |

We haven't seen any big moves in price in a couple days and it is a Friday night so I think we will see something big happen at some point in the next 12 hours. It might not be of the magnitude we saw the other day but I suspect we will see some liquidations on bitcoinica, moving the price one way or another. For the most part I think it will be a sharp move downwards followed by a large rally, possibly to $7 and beyond. Of course this could go the other way but I think things have been a little too quiet for whoever is causing these large price movements.

My guess would be soon since they are going to try and play catchup with The Good Wife. I wouldn't be surprised if there is an episode in the works as we type.
Also I could see the plot line be one of them misusing one of the supercomputers for mining bitcoins. Of course they would say they need it to buy something for WOW or some other popular game (maybe BF3 or MW3). Usually the show hops on bandwagons for popular techy games and such.
