More than a bump now. Seems the price stagnation may have ended.... just like Kim Jong Il's rule  Tongue
822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 19, 2011, 04:17:34 AM
We did get a bit of a bump just now lol. Related? Probably not.

I'd like to know what everyone's favorite South Korean thinks!

Matthew?! Where are you?

Would be an interesting time for the south to invade the north. I think if its going to happen it has to happen soon before kim jong un has the chance to immortalize his image like his father did.
824  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 19, 2011, 03:44:43 AM
So far I havent seen it move once. Give it a few more hours and I will close the poll and say it had no effect.
825  Economy / Speculation / Re: Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 19, 2011, 03:33:32 AM
I beat The Canadian Press on reporting on his death lol. This should be interesting to gage the response since people will just be finding out around the world and we should be able to see what if any impact there is on the market.
826  Economy / Speculation / Kim Jong Il is dead. Will it have an impact on BTC prices? on: December 19, 2011, 03:27:01 AM
Major world news so it could potentially have an impact on the market. Il was very famous for his anti-american sentiment but is yet another in a long line of international dictators to kick the bucket recently. Im thinking no but it would be interesting to see news items that came out around major market moves tied in with bitcoin prices over time like google finance does with stocks.
827  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Stagflation on: December 19, 2011, 02:29:29 AM
In fact since the total supply is greater, the dilution effect those new coins have on the overall market grows smaller every day. Therefore, by design as time continues, the effect of newly minted coins on the bitcoin economy becomes less significant. This coupled with the stability in price over the past month makes me think we have reached bitcoin fundamentals. Only time will tell but I dont think we should deviate too far in the near term from current values and that is a good thing for bitcoin.
828  Economy / Speculation / Re: The Historical Depth Blog -- updates once a day on: December 18, 2011, 11:21:48 PM
I've got a hunch we're going to see some movement today, one way or another.

I was wrong.
yup, this stability is killing me lol. I would have expected at least a spread of 10 cents over the day but not even.
829  Economy / Speculation / Re: This lack of volatility almost makes Bitcoin look... civilized on: December 18, 2011, 05:08:01 AM
I believe we have reached the area of true value for Bitcoin. I don't expect to see any major bubbles unless something happens. I also do not expect any sustained values below $3 for longer than a day in the foreseeable future. From the moving averages it really appears we have hit a bottom or market reversal. I am more inclined to believe we will stay around the current price for the near term.
830  Economy / Speculation / Re: how else is waiting for a sizeable drop to buy more coins again? on: December 18, 2011, 05:04:30 AM
I see, I misinterpreted the question. I think we will see 3.45 again so if a higher order will be more beneficial i say place it at 3.25. I think we will see that number in the next couple of days for sure too.
to make it clear
i need to buy bitcoins in order to buy gold.

i need about 600 bitcoins

If I were you I would put my order in for 3.10 and wait it out for a week or so.

i want to buy some gold from coinabul

could putting a bid of 600 coins at 3.15 save me a bunch on my 1oz gold bar?

It could... but then again it might not.

If you are willing to wait I think we will see 3.10 again but it might be a week or two. On the long term I think we are on the way up but i have my lowest buy orders at 3.15500.

I would not be surprised at all to see 3.15 in the next week so if that will save you money I say go for it.
833  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 BTC Reward offered on: December 13, 2011, 04:18:43 AM

It was me. Clicked the thread then immediately went back to the containg forum.  Evidence:

j/k btw, In case anybody was wondering.... :p

By the time you would have loaded the page and gone back there would have been at least 3 more hits. I was in the middle of 99996 and 100003 which I think gives me a lot better of a chance than you. If anything I think you just proved that you didnt win Cheesy
835  Economy / Speculation / Re: New Contest on: December 12, 2011, 10:53:21 PM
I'd say lock the thread now; the longer you wait, the closer we are to the deadline, and the easier it becomes to be "right". Those who guessed 22 hours before the deadline are going to have to be a lot luckier (or whatever) than those who guess one hour before close.

I say its a good time to lock in the bets. Anything closer than 5 hours and more recent guessers have too good of a chance.

Please lock the thread until after the deadline.

lulz... all for a measly 2 bitcoins!
A 2 bitcoins that cant even be distributed with the given parameters. For some of us 2 BTC is a significant amount. Do not underestimate what people will do for a bitcoin or two.
838  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: December 11, 2011, 09:40:14 PM
ok, i just found out Sirius is the owner of the Forums so i will pm him now to see if he can help.

sorry for the poorly designed competition.  didn't think it'd move this fast.

Translation: You underestimated what people would be willing to do for a BTC or two. Im sure theres a Klondyke Bar commercial joke in there somewhere.
839  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 BTC Reward offered on: December 11, 2011, 09:38:07 PM
so should we pm you our ip addresses now if we think we might have been 100000?
840  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Technical Analysis & other financial markets (bitcoinbullbear.com) on: December 11, 2011, 09:17:29 PM
well, since i never heard back from theymos, we're stuck with whoever can prove to us they were 100K. Grin

I was autorefreshing the speculation thread every 5 seconds. Towards the end it was 5-6 views per refresh. It went 99990 to 99996 at which i clicked on the thread. then the refresh was at 100003. If someone has access to the logs this could be verified by ip address which im sure has to be logged somewhere.
