I am a little disappointed in the size of the fees to be introduced. If your current operating costs are 2% then I think 3% would be more appropriate. I was donating but have since scaled back my contributions in anticipation of those higher fees.

I would rather see ads to pay for the server costs on the stats and homepage than compulsory fees.
782  Economy / Speculation / Re: New Contest: Guess the date for when we hit $2 again! on: December 29, 2011, 10:58:49 PM
I am not sure if we will see $2 btc but if we do I am guessing 2012-02-19 (Feb 19th)

I have a suggestion:

Allow users to zoom in as you can on MTgoxlive to get a look at what is going on nearer to current market prices. My problem with Mtgoxlive with this feature is that it is only at preset values. If you could input a maxium number which the graph could be zoomed to it would be more useful (10k, 20k, etc). Just my two bitcents on the matter.
784  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5 Mt. Gox price contest! 2BTC on: December 22, 2011, 03:45:29 AM

If what you meant to guess got taken by someone else it would be hard for me to take it away from them to give to you. They can't read your mind. I would just guess a virgin date. Thanks

SOB! You know I sided with you immediately on that last contest right? *wink* *wink* JK no big deal.

Oh well, I pick 2012-01-06 then, the next nearest available date. It will really suck if it passes on the 4th though lol.

If this is Jan 6th then that's my vote. But after thinking about it I might as well not give the coins to myself so you can have that day. If this is June 1st then:)

I didn't see that you had guessed it. I went over everyone elses bids though. Thanks for giving me the day.

I wrote it in ISO format so it is January 6. I always write my dates in ISO format since I have to for work.
785  Economy / Speculation / Re: over $3! almost 50% gain in 72 hours! on: December 22, 2011, 03:41:11 AM
Thats funny I noticed that the huge 15k askwall at $4 is much smaller so I feel the exact opposite as you.

Wishing for the price to drop won't make it so! You sure are one determined bear.
786  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5 Mt. Gox price contest! 2BTC on: December 22, 2011, 01:43:47 AM

I won't.  Will you also stop whining and bitching about those who you think whine and bitch and set the good example?

How exactly did I bitch and whine? I actually did you a solid by telling you that your guess was invalid and already taken.

Whine about whiners? Thats rich!
787  Economy / Speculation / Re: $5 Mt. Gox price contest! 2BTC on: December 22, 2011, 12:29:39 AM
Jan. 5, 2012.  According to whatever rules hath been deemed honorable by the One Most High.  I hereby decline any and all

Also already taken... Wouldnt want to see you whine if it did come to pass on that day. I still don't know how the hell you managed to swindle 7 coins out of that deal. My entire BTC balance is 10 so this would be like a double up to me.

Dude, honestly, let it go.  "Karma" ran its inevitable course, and there's a likely chance your entire party was on the shorter end of the karmic stick.

"Fallacy is not made true by multiplied propagation, nor is truth made into fallacy because nobody will believe it."

Thats funny we were all telling you to let it go. What party would that be by the way? As far as I knew I am an individual and not part of any "party". Karma definitely did not run its course or you would have gotten nothing. I am glad you will not bitch and whine about the results of this contest however.

Since every other more recent date is taken I will take 2011-01-04 or January 4th.

I just noticed I got the year wrong. I also notice two other people guessed the same date after me. Goat does my guess still count for 2012 seeing as the date I mentioned has already passed or should I make a new guess?

I see now that balance has been changed to balance at risk. I noticed the other day you said that you could no longer guarantee balances. Does this mean you think the pool is going to go under very soon or am I reading too much into things?

LOL, I will take 5BTC and spend it on Bitcoinica if you send it to me Zhoutong... To be honest though I don't think I would put any of my own coins on there.

As for joint just take the offer. You lost the bet so deal with it. Zhoutong is being very generous here even though he had nothing to do with this contest.
795  Economy / Speculation / Re: What is fair? on: December 20, 2011, 10:48:25 PM
Fair is what Old Engineer says it is. He put up the coins and the contest and no one forced him to. I stated my position on this in the thread when we first passed $4. My interpretation was that Goat won since I automatically assumed GMT. When I discuss anything in BTC terms I always use GMT. Its what this forum references time to by default and its when the markets call the beginning and end of a day. Technically the bitcoin market day was the 20th and this should be enough for anyone to agree with the results.

If I were the winner and it was so close like this I might have given joint a BTC or two because it was so close. The whining from joint would just have me say fuck off though since it seems he is just a sore loser. From now on if there are any contests we should all agree on GMT unless otherwise specified as the time to reference. This would settle any dispute like this before it begins. Sadly with all this trouble if I were Old Engineer I would just stop holding contests. We didnt pay anything to join the contest and therefore should have no complaints if we do not win regardless or not if we like the rules.

Thanks for the contest Old Engineer and thank you for your generosity Goat to the orphans. I can honestly say I would probably not do the same since I am a little bit greedy.
796  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Think I Got Screwed out of 5 BTC on: December 20, 2011, 10:39:11 PM
What time zone are the forum posts in? Where is the contest being held? You lost, I lost, get over it.

Whining from people like you makes it less likely that old engineer will do another contest like this again. Too much of a headache.

Also old engineer even did one better and paid out double to goat because he keeps on donating his winnings to orphans and such.

Thank you for the contest engineer and thank you for your generosity Goat.

Shameful thread.
798  Economy / Speculation / Re: $4 today!? on: December 20, 2011, 05:42:57 AM
Corrected from 4.50 to 4.00 and now we are rebounding a bit...  A stronger correction will bring us around 3.60 but I dont think we will see that.
799  Economy / Speculation / Re: $4 today!? on: December 20, 2011, 05:33:36 AM
And now the correction.
800  Economy / Speculation / Re: My last Warning to the Bears on: December 20, 2011, 05:30:58 AM
I think its safe to say that anyone shorting on bitcoinica is probably liquidated by now. While I do find this funny I also find myself questioning whether or not to buy back in when i sold out around $3.70. I know as soon as I do we will drop back to $4 tho lol. And as I type this we are almost there.
