The younger brother of John Harbaugh, Jim is the new head coach of the Chargers.

On our next fantasy league, can I have a reservation for Justin Herbert to be my quarterback hehehe. I have read some articles that mention very good things about Jim Harbaugh and how he can bring the Chargers to the superbowl within 4 years. I do not know if I should believe the hype, however. Everyone in this thread would know more than me if this hype is real.

The Los Angeles Chargers got their man: Jim Harbaugh is their new head coach.

Harbaugh and the Chargers agreed to a deal on Wednesday afternoon.

After winning the national championship at Michigan, Harbaugh has one career goal left, and that's to win the Super Bowl. With the Chargers, where the franchise quarterback is already in place in Justin Herbert, Harbaugh thinks he can do it.

362  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Coinbase on: January 27, 2024, 05:55:51 AM
@zasad@. There are conflicting arguments on this. There are some experts who speculate that the case will be dimissed because Coinbase has a higher chance of winning this. Also, similar to what you have mentioned, Coinbase is an investor in Coinbase. They will use the politicians in their pockets that jingle like coins against uncle Gary.

On the other side of the argument and if there is a trial by jury on 2025, it appears that this will become a storyline that would cause volatility on the market hehehee.

Judge Failla could decide to dismiss the case, experts say. Bloomberg Intelligence senior litigation analyst Elliott Stein put the chances of Coinbase beating the SEC at 70 percent in a post last week.

"Our Thesis: Coinbase is 70% likely to beat the SEC, if not outright on this motion, then later," Stein wrote. "Even if the case survives, it likely reaches the Supreme Court, which we think will narrow Howey," Stein wrote, referring to test that's based on a 1946 U.S. Supreme Court case the SEC often cites in determining whether or not an asset is a security.

Others say the case will go on, and if the judge denies Coinbase's motion, then it would go onto discovery. At the end of discovery, both the SEC and Coinbase could bring a motion for summary judgment. If the judge isn't convinced, then it would proceed to trial and be presented to a jury, but that wouldn't likely happen until 2025.

363  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: January 27, 2024, 02:13:46 AM

Speaking about legal fights, I read a very interesting take from Alistair Milne:

This is a very interesting one, and it explains a lot about the current state of things and even why some irrational decisions were made about fees.
The bad news is that apparently a lot of selling is yet to be expected.

I reckon might it be good to create a basic estimation on all of DCG's payables and use that to also estimate when Grayscale might stop dumping on our faces based on the amount of bitcoin that they are selling per day.

This is head shaking for Barry because he was criticizing the hedgefunds and the institutional traders in the cryptospace as high risk. It appears that he was one of them hehehe.

364  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 25, 2024, 03:23:23 AM
On Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero, it appears that what they say on their interviews and what they share in social media might only be a tactic to gather everyone's attention hehehe. The teams and managers of both have never stopped negotiating.

According to this latest news update, King Ry vs. Rolly Romero is almost a certainty in Las Vegas on April. If King Ry wins a championship, it will certainly be good for super lightweight where King Ry, Haney and Teo might fight each other for unification.

Ryan Garcia and WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero are back in play, with them reportedly being close to being done for April 20th on DAZN PPV in Las Vegas.

365  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🥊 The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 25, 2024, 02:49:25 AM
It appears that uncle Dana has found his possible double champion hehehhee. This is Kayla Harrison who is a very good martial artist from the PFL. According to this article, her first fight in the UFC will be against Holly Holm. I speculate that Kayla Harrisson will be the favorite and she will win, I reckon. Holly is 40 years old already and she lost very easily vs. the grappler Mayra Bueno Silva. Kayla might be a stronger grappler compared to Mayra.

Raquel Pennington who newly won the women's bantamweight championship is scratching her head because Kayla will certainly be her next fight hehehe.

After years of waiting, Kayla Harrison is a UFC fighter.

The promotion has signed the Olympic gold medalist turned Professional Fighters League fighter who will have her make her debut against Holly Holm at UFC 300 on April 13, Dana White announced Tuesday.

366  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 25, 2024, 02:14:07 AM
@Rikafip. It appears that you might be correct! It also appears that Emma Stone is becoming the favorite and adjusted Lily Gladstone's odds back to 2.10 from 1.45. What are the oddsmakers speculating on this? What caused this adjustment? Are they speculating that Emma Stone will win Bafta? I reckon Sandra Hüller might be the more popular vote for best actress in Bafta.

I speculate that if Sandra Hüller wins, the adjustment on the odds for her will be very big.

@Saint-loup. Emma Stone has a higher chance, however, only a small difference. Many things will change after the official voting for the winners on February 22-27. Information always leak and the oddsmakers are very quick to adjust.

In any case, for the superbowl I want the 49ers and the Ravens to win.

Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

What would it look like if they tied?

What I was implying was for the teams I want in the superbowl. I want the Ravens and the 49ers to win their conference final games hehe.
368  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: January 24, 2024, 04:52:05 AM
@Sithara007. Agreed. Trump is a Russian agent was only black propaganda created by the Democrats as a defamation campaign against Trump to scare the people from voting for him. This did not work on his first attempt to run as president, however, it worked during the second attempt. On this third attempt? I am quite certain it will not work. The Democrats would need to have him convicted and find a legal reason for him not permitted to run.

The other Republican nominees have presently declared their support of Trump. There is nothing that will stop this man from becoming the next president of the most powerful country.
369  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 24, 2024, 04:30:55 AM
What do you think @DireWolfM14, since these are your boys

I'm scared.  Not because I think the Lions are that good, but when the Niners suck they really, really suck.  Plus, I'm trying to not jinx anything by being overly confident.  Not to mention, Shanahan-coached teams have a history of chocking in big games.

Having said that, I tend to agree with your logic.  Assuming Deebo is ready, the line will go up.  And if the Niners show up the way they are expected to, I don't see the Lions causing us much trouble.

The 49ers will win, however, -7 points might be too much trust on Brock Purdy. But I am not an expert hehe.

But if I am asked which of these underdogs might bring the fans the upset, it might be the Chiefs, I reckon. Patrick Mahomes during a very important game against a better team is the type of challenge that brings the very best out of this type of player.

In any case, for the superbowl I want the 49ers and the Ravens to win.
370  Economy / Speculation / Re: Countertrading Jim Cramer on Bitcoin on: January 24, 2024, 03:56:47 AM
@dragonvslinux. Will uncle Jim be correct on this prediction, however?

It would be very funny if his announcement begins a change of course on the market again. If he is 90-95% on the wrong side, I certainly like the market's chance of pumping back to $45k hehe.

Now that Bitcoin's down about 20% from its high i expect a strong stand to be made but it won't hold because not enough money is coming in. New theme: Number Go Down

371  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: January 24, 2024, 03:18:04 AM
so the FTX issues arrises again this week. or finally clawbacks some hidden funds

https://www.reuters.com/technology/ftx-sold-about-1-bln-grayscales-bitcoin-etf-since-its-approval-coindesk-2024-01-22/

ftx had over $1b hidden away in GBTC shares

FTX customers will be a bit happier. as thats another $1b added to the pot scammed customers can get back from the FTX fiasco

it was about 20,000 coins redeemed/sold between ETF launch to monday(before this post)

It also appears that FTX dropped their lawsuit against Grayscale for charging high fees and refusal to redeem their investors' shares. This is headhsaking because as a company, Grayscale can charge an amount they want and was it also known already that GBTC cannot redeem the underlying coins until the trust is converted into an ETF?

In any case, this picture is the joke about Barry in social media heheehheh. Barry jokes will be plenty on this year. Locking this thread will certainly be a mistake hehe.

Bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX's affiliate Alameda Research has dropped a lawsuit against Grayscale Investments that had accused the digital asset manager of "enriching itself at shareholders' expense", a court filing showed on Monday.

Alameda, which filed the lawsuit in a Delaware court in March last year, had also accused Grayscale of charging high fees and refusing to allow investors to redeem their shares from its two crypto-focused trusts, the Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (GBTC) and the Grayscale Ethereum Trust.

372  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NFL Sportsbet.io discussion & predications thread rev on: January 23, 2024, 05:21:37 AM
@ralle14. Those were my predictions also, I should have also made that bet hehehe. I did not like the spread on all of the games in the divisional. The team I speculated that would cover the spread was the 49ers but they were behind for much of the game against the Packers and lost against the spread.

@everyone in this thread. On Lamar and the Ravens vs. the Chiefs, Mahomes, Travis and Taylor, what are your predictions? Will the Ravens' defense stop the Chiefs from scoring more than 10 points? I am quite certain the Chiefs' defense will have much difficulty on stopping the Ravens. This -3.5 spread on the Ravens might be an underestimation by the sportsbooks.

https://twitter.com/ESPNRingside/status/1748819171008237669

Lol, Rolly Romero mad at Ryan Garcia and Oscar Dela Hoya. He thought that they have negotiations with him and Ryan fighting next. But as he claim, Oscar is also negotiating for Ryan to fight Isaac "Pitbull" Cruz.

Ryan has responded to Romero, so it's going to be interesting as to who Ryan will fight next. But obviously, it's not as what we wanted like Teo Lopez or Devin Haney.

Isaac Pitbull Cruz might be a better fight for King Ry, I reckon. King Ry's tactics will be a very entertaining show vs. someone who fights similar to Mike Tyson hehehe. Also, King Ry will be fighting in the lower weight division on lightweight where he will have a size advantage and certainly a longer reach than Pitbull. He is not ready for a championship fight on a higher weight division against Rolly Romero, I reckon.

It would be much more preferable for the fans to witness Devin Haney fight Teo Lopez and Rolly Romero to unify the super lightweight division. This Rolly Romero on King Ry only wants someone with a big name to win a big purse.
374  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 23, 2024, 03:58:14 AM
@Rikafip. The voters will not ignore Fantasia who is someone who grew up as a minority in America. They will want this representation to be shown during awarding night. It will be very good for the camera hehehehe. Carey Mulligan is a British actress and Sandra Hüller is a German. Both of them foreigners and one of them might not be included.

In any case, the announcement for the official nominees is coming, we will know them very soon hehe.

After months of campaigning and debating, awards watchers are about to have the biggest piece of that puzzle when the Oscar nominations are finally announced on Tuesday, Jan. 23, at 8:30 a.m. ET/5:30 a.m. PT.

375  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: CFTC releases a report on DeFi, recommends certain actions from the government on: January 23, 2024, 02:31:25 AM
To be honest, this is not exclusive. We've been talking about this for a long time, but there are a lot of projects in Defi, and it's impossible to control everything. Many projects do not operate in the United States and are not required to adopt their regulations.
They will try to control Ethereum by rejecting transactions from sanctions lists, but these measures are not enough.

The news update might not be a recent news development, however, as members of the cryptospace community and as users of defi, we should always give the effort of making everyone know what is happening around the cryptospace, to be skeptical and to tell everyone our own thoughts or speculations on these occurences.

In DeFi projects, user identification is impossible, but only a whitelist of addresses is possible. Perhaps there will be companies that will get licenses and solve this problem.
I haven't seen any direct bans on DeFi in the US yet, and their tax regulations are quite ready for DeFi, although it will be difficult for users to keep records.
No, it is possible if we consider pancakeswap as an example of DeFi. The service is centralized because you need to visit https://pancakeswap.finance. They can collect information about your addresses, and block the swap until you create an account. Then they can request more data after creating this account as KYC. It is true that they will not They do this now because they do not want to lose their user base, but they can do it gradually, such as making the KYC feature only for some airdrops or for tax regulations.

Unless the service is self-hosted like Bisq then restrictions can be imposed on it.

The frontend is centralized, however, the users can interact with their smart contracts directly through other methods very much similar to what occured with Tornado Cash.
376  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: January 23, 2024, 01:52:58 AM
update GBTC holdings 566,973btc
I have a hard time believing that Grayscale would not have done calculations in regards to how fast that they could expect various GBTC accounts to bleed away, and I would think that Grayscale would have had known the quantity of GBTC shares that are held through tax sheltered accounts versus being held in non-tax privileged accounts.  So presumptively it would be much easier to move value in the tax sheltered/tax privileged accounts as compared to the ones that aren't, and so in that regard, Grayscale might have estimated that ONLY so many of the account holders are going to be ready and willing to transfer value away from their account, and sure it is also possible that Grayscale has miscalculated these kinds of matters, but I would think that they have pretty good ideas about their account holders and through what kinds of vehicles that their GBTC shares are being held.  It would be nice to see some statistics regarding those kinds of matters, if they are available.
what if i told you maybe (DCG)grayscale wants to bleed. after all DCG have some legal issues with gemini and other companies and dont want to be holding a bag of coin they have to hand back to gemini/others. which would then cause de-pegging.
they want to move the coins out of "their sponsorship" and then eventually lower the fee to then have others as agents managing a basket thus no coin associated with DCG to be bitten off in lawsuits.
but instead having agents basket managing coin where Grayscale live off the trade fee's

if DCG is showing as having $XXbillion assets locked in GBTC. it's ripe for picking
if DCG can offload its assets there is nothing to pick. it can also sell its other portfolios to other sister companies. so if/when gemini pull the trigger, DCG can just liquidate with a bankruptcy, only have to pay pennies on the dollar. and then ride the gravy train of income from share fee's, custodial fees via its separate entities

It sure as well could be the case that Grayscale has already calculated that no matter what possible financially viable course of action that they take, they are likely going to bleed a lot of their assets under management, but it likely does not mean that they would like to bleed those assets under management, but they may well have been putting themselves into a worse position if they had engaged more in the race to the bottom of fees race.

I would still expect that Grayscale may well be trying to calculate the maximum fees that they believe that they are able to receive to help to sustain them as long as they can, even if they continue to have ongoing legal battles.

It would also not be very shocking if Barry knew in advance that they would be dumping bitcoin when GBTC was approved to be converted into an ETF. This is head shaking, however, he might also have shorted bitcoin on January 11 after the SEC's announcement very much similar to how he shorted dogecoin when Elon appeared in Saturday Night Live hehehehe.

@odolvlobo. I disagree. This thread has much knowledge and information and this should continue.

@franky1. Agreed. Also if this thread is locked, I am quite certain someone else would create another GBTC, Barry thread.
377  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: January 22, 2024, 04:35:18 AM
On the 49ers, on what they showed vs. the Packers, I reckon they are very lucky that they will play either the Lions or the Buccaneers in the NFC conference finals.

Niners didn't look very good at all. They spent a lot of the game behind in points, and their defense made up for an offense that was 90% carried by Christian McCaffrey. Purdy kind of folded under pressure a few times. Anybody who bet on Green Bay to cover is pretty happy right now. Having said that, I agree with you and am pretty sure they can easily beat the Lions or Bucs in the conference championship.

Two close games tomorrow... now that the "easy" picks are out of the way.

If Brock Purdy again will fold under pressure vs. the Lions, have the oddsmakers made another mistake by giving the 49ers -7 against the spread? If this is another close game, it might be safer to take the points than give the points.

On the Ravens, -3.5 might be an underestimation from the sportsbooks, I reckon. The Ravens defense is certainly better than the Bills' defense and the Chiefs begun having difficulties against this on the 4th quarter. I am not quite sure where the defense of the Chiefs rank, however, more than 28 points might be easy for the Ravens.

Great Chiefs/Bills game, it was a nail-biter down to the last 1:30.

Tyler Bass hehehehe.
378  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: January 22, 2024, 03:27:40 AM
News update.

It appears that despite CZ's departure from Binance and the charges against him, Binance appears to have never bitten the dust hehehe. This article has reported that net inflows have exceeded the other exchanges in the cryptspace.

This is head shaking because does this imply that moneylaundering through Binance was not as big as speculated?

Crypto exchange Binance — which pleaded guilty to US criminal charges and saw former CEO Changpeng Zhao step down as part of a $4.3 billion settlement — has experienced a trading revival, according to data from DefiLlama.

Since the exchange’s November 21 admission to the Department of Justice of money laundering and evading sanctions and Zhao’s exit, it has seen net inflows of $4.6 billion, far exceeding rivals OKX, Bybit, and Kraken, Bloomberg first reported.

If we remove the Hollywood agenda, the politics and judge only from their performances, I think Sandra Hüller gave the best performace. However, we do not know if she will be included in the nominated best actress list hehehe. I wish she will because I would like to lose with her as my bet against @Saint-loup heheheheheh.
No chance in hell that Sandra Huller doesn't get the nomination so no worries about that.

I disagree. There are only 5 slots for best actress nominees in the Oscar awards and we cannot underestimate Barbie's Margo Robbie, who might be the voters of the woke agenda's favorite hehehe. We also cannot ignore Fantasia Barrino from the Color Purple who will also be nominated by the voters of the woke agenda. The other leading nominees are Lily Gladstone, Emma Stone, Carey Mulligan and Sandra Hüller. We can be quite certain that Lily Gladstone and Emma Stone will be included. This fight for the last best actress nominee slot will be between Hüller and Mulligan.

It appears I was very mistaken in speculating that playoff Lamar will appear in their divisional game vs. the Texans. But it certainly appeared this way during the 1st half hehehe. The 2nd half was much better for the Ravens. It will certanly a very exciting game vs. whoever they play on the conference finals.

On the 49ers, on what they showed vs. the Packers, I reckon they are very lucky that they will play either the Lions or the Buccaneers in the NFC conference finals.
