761  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2024-01-24] Peter Schiff Says All Spot Bitcoin ETFs Are Now in Bear Markets on: January 30, 2024, 03:08:33 AM
Peter Shiff doesn't understand it is this volatility which makes crypto more fun than gold...

Out of curiosity, how closely does Inverse Schiff follow Inverse Cramer?

The guy sounds like a deranged lunatic whenever he talks about Bitcoin, but I don't think he's stupid like Cramer.

Hehehe I reckon he worse. He has been talking about bitcoin and expressing only bearishness since before the bull market of the ICOs on 2017. I am not certain, however, he might have begun talking negatively about bitcoin when the price was under $1000 hheeheh. His gold would have profited more than 10x if he converted some of this to bitcoin.

Circular on transitional arrangements of the new licensing regime for virtual asset trading platforms
https://apps.sfc.hk/edistributionWeb/gateway/EN/circular/intermediaries/licensing/doc?refNo=23EC27

https://www.reuters.com/technology/hong-kong-regulator-issue-crypto-licences-with-retail-investor-guardrails-2023-05-24/
HONG KONG, May 23 (Reuters) - Hong Kong's securities regulator said its crypto licensing regime will include measures to protect retail investors as it brings in tougher rules for digital asset companies from June 1.

https://www.coindesk.com/markets/2023/06/01/first-digital-unveils-usd-stablecoin-as-hong-kong-crypto-rules-kick-in/
First Digital Group announced today that it’s launching a USD stablecoin, FDUSD.
"The stablecoin is issued on Ethereum and BNB, a spokesperson told CoinDesk, saying that First Digital is in discussions with all major exchanges for a listing.
First Digital says FDUSD is backed by “high-quality reserves” of cash and cash equivalents in regulated financial institutions around Asia, and will be issued by First Digital Trust, a trust company registered under Hong Kong’s Trust Ordinance."

USD stablecoin in the jurisdiction of Hong Kong is already interesting..

Similar to what has already been speculated and mentioned since 2021 in this forum, stablecoins will stand in for the banks with the regulators' approval, to be the gateway for inflows and outflows of fiat for the cryptospace.

Also, on these new measures to protect retail investors, it has also been speculated in this forum that these measure will impose that only people from a certain income bracket would be allowed to trade cryptocoins. Another one might be if your account balance does not reach a certain level then the number of trades allowed to the customer would be limited.
763  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [Updated] FTX on: January 29, 2024, 06:06:07 AM
How much more cryptocoins are they going to sell? Is it possible that they can triple the cash they have on hand by selling more?

This is headshaking because why do they not open an otc market for large dumps? Why do they want to do large dumps on our faces.

FTX is selling off crypto assets and stockpiling cash as bankruptcy advisers prepare to compensate clients whose accounts were frozen in 2022 when the exchange failed, Bloomberg reported.

The firm’s four biggest affiliates almost doubled their cash to $4.4 billion at end-2023 from $2.3 billion in October, Chapter 11 monthly operating reports show, and total cash is probably more if all affiliates were included, the report said.

I need to share this hehehehe. The article certainly made me laugh and shake my head. Su Zhu should advice Do Kwon to be sentenced under the jurisdiction of Singapore to also have an enjoyable experience.

Zhu says he slept well in Singapore lock-up

Su Zhu, co-founder of collapsed cryptocurrency hedge fund Three Arrows Capital, said that the time he did in a Singapore prison was “enjoyable.”

Zhu, who served three months behind bars after failing to cooperate with Singaporean authorities, has begun promoting a new exchange, OPNX, which has an office registered in Hong Kong, the South China Morning Post reported.

“Obviously no one wants to go to prison,” Zhu said in a video clip shared widely on X. “But I think that it’s actually a really enjoyable experience overall.” He said the video will be part of a future podcast.

765  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Coinbase on: January 29, 2024, 04:42:37 AM
@zasad@. I agree on Coinbase not winning on all charges, however, I disagree on a policy change on the cryptospace by the SEC after US elections. There might be some changes if Trump gets the victory because everything he did during his term was express his dislike for crypto but his administration has never done any strict regulatory against this. However, if a Democrat will win, I reckon what we are presently witnessing might only be the beginning.
The United States has accumulated a lot of internal political and economic problems, and I don’t think that the new president will have much time to spend on cryptocurrencies.
I wrote with reference to world sources that the economies of many countries are large bubbles, when agriculture and manufacturing occupy no more than 30% of GDP, and the rest consists of financial speculation. With such financial debt, the United States cannot be present in all the hot spots of the world to control order, and therefore Trump will set the main goal of increasing production in his country.

I disagree. Governments always make good use of the fud they create in the cryptospace to fund their own campaigns. Do you think Elizabeth Warren and her friends in the senate will stop? I am very much certain they will not.

However, if they really want good governance, I agree with you. They should fix the internal problems that have accumulated for many years. But there are politicians who might have stopped feeling concerned on what is happening in the political system and they only want to create as much wealth as they can before retirement. One of these politicians is Nancy Pelosi.

Damn, lost my bet. I would have appreciated it if the Lions just went for a FG in their final drive, but noooo, they had to go for the TD.

There was also the game during the regular season where Dan Campbell chose to get 2 points after touchdown instead of the much safer extra point to tie the game hehehe. If I recall correctly, it was against the Ravens.

768  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rolando Romero-Isaac Cruz to meet on March 30 in Las Vegas. on: January 28, 2024, 06:31:47 AM
@freedomgo. However, we should also remember that Tank Davis also injured his left hand during the fight against Isaac Cruz. The fight was certainly more impressive for Tank than for Pitbull, I reckon.

In any case, I also agree that it is very head scratching on why Rolly Romero chose a tougher opponent and a lower purse. It might because Oscar dela Hoya was making it very difficult to negotiate.
769  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 Oscar Awards bets and discussions on: January 28, 2024, 05:16:23 AM
@Rikafip. On bookmaking the Oscar awards, oddsmakers might adjust the odds based on rumors, information leaks or maybe how the top critics rate movies and performances. Poor Things was released late on 2023 because of the writers' strike in Hollywood. It might have taken a longer time for Poor Things' odds to be included in the bookmakers' adjustedment.

On Sandra Hüller, I am not quite sure. Also, another question would be how many actors and actresses that have won in Bafta, also won in the same category in the Oscars? I am quite surprised that Paul Giamatti's odds went from 12.00 to 2.90. This is a big adjustment.
770  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: who Want To Bet On 2024 USA elections? on: January 28, 2024, 03:27:07 AM
Politics in the US these days is really divided.

There is rarely a debate with nuance, it is all about "the other side is bad".

So in the end many people are simply voting for anything that is "Not X, and not Y", etc, instead of actually voting for a person that represents their goals and ideas.

It is an incredibly divided country.

And it is getting more divided every year.

TV, Twitter, and other social media, simply puts a single phrase to enrage people and it works.

Attention span of people is way down to what it used to be.

If you watch an old interview (say from the 70s, 80s, etc) you realize how different people were in those times. They spoke better, they had independent ideas, they could phrase their ideas and have a conversation for half an hour, no problem. Even if people disagreed, they talked about it.

Now it's just two seconds saying something, and then posting it on the internet. No nuance, just hatred.

And it's cable news' fault.

I read somewhere that Rupert Murdoch said that they could've gotten away with Watergate if the media did not tell people why it was wrong.

He's the founder of the FOX empire in case you don't know.

So it doesn't get any more blatant than that. It's all about "Do not think for yourself, you are wrong, just listen to me!" and unfortunately it extends well beyond America.

Cables news fault, I reckon presently the internet and the continuous streaming of information have much more effect on the people's short attention span than cable news.

The tragedy of the World Trade Center during September 11 might be old news within 2 months if this occured during 2021 than on 2011. Social media presently is very much different 10 years ago. This is also very much similar to Russia vs. Ukraine and Israel vs. Hamas. Much of the people have stopped following them within months because there are many more information and distractions from the internet to be consumed.

In any case, on the elections in America, what would be the odds on Joe Biden on cancelling his candidacy?

772  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Rolando Romero-Isaac Cruz to meet on March 30 in Las Vegas. on: January 27, 2024, 07:37:17 AM
Rolly is in trouble again, Pitball Cruz is so hard to tame he will have to work double time to tame the Pitbull considering that his last fight against Barroso was not that good he almost lost this fight and Barosso is an aging fighter, Rolly Romero should upgrade his defense, Cruz is the kind of fighter that will throw everything but the kitchen sink.
Romero should have accepted the Garcia fight, he could have made a lot of money from that fight I'm not saying that Isaac Cruz is better than Ryan Garcia but Romero's style is very much suited for the Pitbull, Pitbull loves opponents that keep moving forward, and Romero will be in trouble if he is not careful on how he deal with Pitbull he is one merciless Pitbull.

Agreed. It might also have been very good for the fans if Ryan Garcia would fight Isaac Cruz. Pitbull likes to move forward and King Ry has a powerful counter left hook which is a very perfect weapon for the style of his opponent.

However, on Romero vs. Cruz, it appears those who voted certainly know that Pitbull will be a more favored fighter by the oddsmakers hehe. I also disagree with you. Isaac Cruz does not throw everything but the kitchen sink. He will throw everything and the kitchen sink hehehehee.

The younger brother of John Harbaugh, Jim is the new head coach of the Chargers.

On our next fantasy league, can I have a reservation for Justin Herbert to be my quarterback hehehe. I have read some articles that mention very good things about Jim Harbaugh and how he can bring the Chargers to the superbowl within 4 years. I do not know if I should believe the hype, however. Everyone in this thread would know more than me if this hype is real.

The Los Angeles Chargers got their man: Jim Harbaugh is their new head coach.

Harbaugh and the Chargers agreed to a deal on Wednesday afternoon.

After winning the national championship at Michigan, Harbaugh has one career goal left, and that's to win the Super Bowl. With the Chargers, where the franchise quarterback is already in place in Justin Herbert, Harbaugh thinks he can do it.

774  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: SEC vs Coinbase on: January 27, 2024, 05:55:51 AM
@zasad@. There are conflicting arguments on this. There are some experts who speculate that the case will be dimissed because Coinbase has a higher chance of winning this. Also, similar to what you have mentioned, Coinbase is an investor in Coinbase. They will use the politicians in their pockets that jingle like coins against uncle Gary.

On the other side of the argument and if there is a trial by jury on 2025, it appears that this will become a storyline that would cause volatility on the market hehehee.

Judge Failla could decide to dismiss the case, experts say. Bloomberg Intelligence senior litigation analyst Elliott Stein put the chances of Coinbase beating the SEC at 70 percent in a post last week.

"Our Thesis: Coinbase is 70% likely to beat the SEC, if not outright on this motion, then later," Stein wrote. "Even if the case survives, it likely reaches the Supreme Court, which we think will narrow Howey," Stein wrote, referring to test that's based on a 1946 U.S. Supreme Court case the SEC often cites in determining whether or not an asset is a security.

Others say the case will go on, and if the judge denies Coinbase's motion, then it would go onto discovery. At the end of discovery, both the SEC and Coinbase could bring a motion for summary judgment. If the judge isn't convinced, then it would proceed to trial and be presented to a jury, but that wouldn't likely happen until 2025.

775  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Everything you wanted to know about Grayscale BTC Trust but were afraid to ask! on: January 27, 2024, 02:13:46 AM

Speaking about legal fights, I read a very interesting take from Alistair Milne:

This is a very interesting one, and it explains a lot about the current state of things and even why some irrational decisions were made about fees.
The bad news is that apparently a lot of selling is yet to be expected.

I reckon might it be good to create a basic estimation on all of DCG's payables and use that to also estimate when Grayscale might stop dumping on our faces based on the amount of bitcoin that they are selling per day.

This is head shaking for Barry because he was criticizing the hedgefunds and the institutional traders in the cryptospace as high risk. It appears that he was one of them hehehe.

776  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 25, 2024, 03:23:23 AM
On Ryan Garcia and Rolly Romero, it appears that what they say on their interviews and what they share in social media might only be a tactic to gather everyone's attention hehehe. The teams and managers of both have never stopped negotiating.

According to this latest news update, King Ry vs. Rolly Romero is almost a certainty in Las Vegas on April. If King Ry wins a championship, it will certainly be good for super lightweight where King Ry, Haney and Teo might fight each other for unification.

Ryan Garcia and WBA light welterweight champion Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero are back in play, with them reportedly being close to being done for April 20th on DAZN PPV in Las Vegas.

It appears that uncle Dana has found his possible double champion hehehhee. This is Kayla Harrison who is a very good martial artist from the PFL. According to this article, her first fight in the UFC will be against Holly Holm. I speculate that Kayla Harrisson will be the favorite and she will win, I reckon. Holly is 40 years old already and she lost very easily vs. the grappler Mayra Bueno Silva. Kayla might be a stronger grappler compared to Mayra.

Raquel Pennington who newly won the women's bantamweight championship is scratching her head because Kayla will certainly be her next fight hehehe.

After years of waiting, Kayla Harrison is a UFC fighter.

The promotion has signed the Olympic gold medalist turned Professional Fighters League fighter who will have her make her debut against Holly Holm at UFC 300 on April 13, Dana White announced Tuesday.

@Rikafip. It appears that you might be correct! It also appears that Emma Stone is becoming the favorite and adjusted Lily Gladstone's odds back to 2.10 from 1.45. What are the oddsmakers speculating on this? What caused this adjustment? Are they speculating that Emma Stone will win Bafta? I reckon Sandra Hüller might be the more popular vote for best actress in Bafta.

I speculate that if Sandra Hüller wins, the adjustment on the odds for her will be very big.

@Saint-loup. Emma Stone has a higher chance, however, only a small difference. Many things will change after the official voting for the winners on February 22-27. Information always leak and the oddsmakers are very quick to adjust.

Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh

What would it look like if they tied?

What I was implying was for the teams I want in the superbowl. I want the Ravens and the 49ers to win their conference final games hehe.

@Sithara007. Agreed. Trump is a Russian agent was only black propaganda created by the Democrats as a defamation campaign against Trump to scare the people from voting for him. This did not work on his first attempt to run as president, however, it worked during the second attempt. On this third attempt? I am quite certain it will not work. The Democrats would need to have him convicted and find a legal reason for him not permitted to run.

The other Republican nominees have presently declared their support of Trump. There is nothing that will stop this man from becoming the next president of the most powerful country.
