1081  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase vs SEC on: July 23, 2023, 02:49:49 AM
@Darker45. I am not saying that you are specifically tricked by the news. I am only implying that most of the time, all of us are influenced by what we read from mainstream news media. They will use different statements that might make the truth appear more abstract and make it appear that something else was being said.

On the ruling, as the judge declared, XRP as a digital token is not in and of itself a contract, a transaction or a scheme that embodies the howey test requirements of an investment contract. This is a very important statement the sets the precedent that many of the other crypto projects' tokens are not illegal securities. If the SEC wants to argue differently then they should appeal the ruling. We should not be tricked that sometimes it is a security, sometimes not. The ruling clearly declares that it is not.

@bbc.reporter
I remember that knee injury which ruined that event well for me anyways and also McCann getting just dominated by Erin Blanchfield which wasn't really surprising.
But this one should be alot better in London which will be an early start for the ones from the states.

The weigh-ins have already happened and the face-offs are going on right now as shown below:
UFC London: Ceremonial Weigh-In
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BTeDb-cTTk

Did you see how quickly Tom Aspinall got the knockout? I change my statement. He did not perform below his real capabilities. He cannot perform to show his real capabilities because he is not yet given the right opponent. He might be ready for Jon Jones, I reckon. I am not telling everyone that he would certainly win, however, Tom is a higher caliber fighter compared to everyone in UFC heavyweight except Jon Jones.
1083  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Stephen Fulton vs. Naoya Inoue | WBC & WBO 122 lbs bout | July 25 on: July 23, 2023, 01:50:50 AM
^^ If I'm not mistaken, it should be in their contract to have blood testing under the WADA so ensure that both are clean. And for obvious reason, it will be random, and so they shouldn't complain about the one that is going to take their blood sample at any time, regardless if they are sleeping then they have to wake up. So there should be no issue. But I guess boxers doesn't want to have their blood taken, not sure what is the reason for that. Maybe it break their momentum or it's more psychological for them. And if you are clean then why you wouldn't be afraid of it? Doesn't make sense at all.

Agreed. These are all rumors to keep the fans' attention. Similar to mainstream news, these sportsnews media outlets also sometimes do not have anything to write anymore, so they begin creating rumors.

In any case, the thread should have a poll. There might only be 3 voters for Fulton including me hehehe. It is head scratching why the champion's odds is 3.70 because it will be Inoue's first time to fight in super bantamweight, Fulton is also bigger, more athletic and has an intelligent jab which could be a problem for the Japanese fighter.

My present prediciton. This might be a split decision win for Stephen Fulton.

If only this fight will be held in Las Vegas, I would go the same with your pick. Don't have anything against Japan but whenever their boxers fight in their backyard they always win via decision, seldom I could see a foreigner wins by decision. A fight of this magnitude and if ever this goes to the full twelve rounds, I have Inoue the winner.

^^ Still a juicy odds i think.

That is also a possbility. The both of them have never been knocked out before in their careers. However, my argument is if it reaches a decision, it will give a higher chance for Fulton to win than Inoue, I reckon. Inoue's best strategy here is to knock him out as early as he possibly can or else he gives Stephen Fulton some opportunities to collect points and win rounds.

Numbers are out of the Garcia vs Davis fight, and it was reported that it made $100 million.

https://twitter.com/RyanGarcia/status/1681758159889891328

And then Ryan Garcia made $30 Million ++, Obviously Gervonta Davis made more $40 million ++. So the next superfight is Spence-Crawford, and so we will see how big the money will be for them and maybe it's hard to topple the numbers that Garcia-Davis did here.

We should hope that those numbers would encourage other good fighters of boxing to negotiate deals and fight each other hehe. Another fight that I wish should collect a good amount of money is the superfight between Inoue and Fulton. But it appears not much people are very excited about this except for boxing fans.

Also, the fight will not be on a weekend which is strange. Why did they not make Inoue vs. Fulton in Las Vegas? It would certainly collect more money there than in Japan.

That would be too much too ask mainly in this era where politics are more important compared to the figures that they could get if they give the people a fight that they wanted. It would be an entertaining fight for sure if that will happen but again, it's just too much to ask.

For the Fulton vs Inoue fight, I'm sure that Bob Arum already considered having it in Las Vegas but considering that they chose to make it in Japan, that just means that they are generating more revenues compared if it will happen inside the US.

Hehe it is difficult to disagree, however, it might stop being too much to ask if the ratings of MMA will begin to be higher consistently and surpass boxing. Why should they wait before this? Also, these fighters in boxing should not put unfair agreements in their contracts and force their opponents to sign. It drops the value of the sport.

Yes, I am talking about Tank's rehydration clause for Ryan Garcia. Why does Tank care what Ryan weighs during the fight?

Breaking news.

A baldish man speculates that his hairline is growing back and he thinks that he is never making a mistake on this speculation.

The source of this breaking news? The baldish man.

Do not make the mistake of being tricked by the baldish man. This appeal is created to spread fear, uncertainty and doubt.

The US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) asked a federal judge today to appeal parts of a recent ruling in the Ripple Labs case. The SEC says the decision doesn’t square with existing securities laws.

1088  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: First Criminal Case Involving Attack on a Smart Contract Operated by DeX on: July 22, 2023, 03:16:31 AM
I think we need a set of new rules for the crypto industry.

If not I think there will be more and more lawsuits in the coming future and not gonna end in Binance.US or Coinbase. maybe cases like XRP will showed up again.

On the other hand, DeX is highly unregulated so yeah it offers us more privacy and control but in some cases US dont like it at all

DeX is more transparent in terms of transaction control, and there is no need to come up with new legislation for these exchanges. Only whitelists and KYC for each wallet are enough.
DeX provides no privacy when used across many ecosystems, and most trading takes place within the Ethereum ecosystem and its L2 layers.

I shake my head if you of all the people in the forum support the whitelisting and the imposing of KYC on self custodied wallets. What are we supporting decentrlzation for if we accept this? This is where I begin to appreciate the bitcoin maximalists' argument on anonymity and the fight against censorship. We should be very cautious on this issue, I reckon. We might be tricked into accepting something that might make the cryptospace function like a duplicate of traditional finance.
1089  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase vs SEC on: July 22, 2023, 01:03:20 AM
@Darker45. Do not be tricked by mainstream news media and these experts that the judge of the ruling did not say that the tokens are not by themselves a contract, transaction that embodies the howey requirements.

The ruling is very clear. Read in page 15.

https://www.dropbox.com/e/scl/fi/bk1n1qn1tgscrcrrfldr8/SEC-v.-Ripple-Ruling-on-Motions-for-Summary-Judgment.pdf?dl=0&rlkey=cjyfdw5rl58diqxyi3qfgix7s

Correct me if I am wrong. The SEC's case against Coinbase was created because according to the SEC, those tokens that were being staked in the exchange were illegal securities. I reckon this can be very much connected with Ripple's case.

Also, why approve Coinbase to have an IPO if the SEC considered it an illegal securities exchange?

In any case, after Ripple's victory Do Kwon's lawyers want to use XRP's case as precedent for their own case hehehe.

Lawyers of former Terra boss Do Kwon have cited the recent XRP victory in the SEC lawsuit in a bid to dismiss the agency’s case against Kwon and Terra.

In a supplementary document filed on July 18, the legal team highlighted the decision made by Judge Analisa Torres in the SEC v. Ripple Labs case, which ruled that the digital asset XRP was not a security.

The defendants’ lawyers assert that the SEC’s claims against the tokens UST, LUNA, wLUNA, and MIR lack merit, drawing parallels to the Ripple ruling. According to the Ripple decision, certain sales of XRP did not meet the criteria to be classified as investment contracts under the Howey test.

1090  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: UFC Fight Night & Main Event: Sportsbet.io Predictions & discussion on: July 21, 2023, 04:19:30 AM

He could win this fight. Not really a mismatch after all Tybura has more fighting experience.
He doesn't sound unread in his interview. Tom already has lots of plans if he wins but it's too much to ask Jones in London. He said it https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-pw9b1_TcDY

So many tough fighters to defeat before he could go up. He will possibly fight Curtis again who is way more skillful than Tom.  Choosing to fight Gane might just be favorable for him.

Similar to you, there are also some people in the other UFC thread who predict that Tom Aspinall's knee injury and long rest from the octagon might make him perform below his real capabilities. It is a reasonable argument, however, I disagree. The UFC chose Marcin Tybura because they know that there is a more than bigger chance that the Englishman will finish this fight within 2 rounds if Tybura is the opponent.

Also, this event is in London. Uncle Dana has given the Englishman an opportunity to look very good in front of his countrymen hehehe.
1091  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will another ETF be immediately bullish for Bitcoin? on: July 21, 2023, 02:18:58 AM
I’m surprised to see that news outlets are saying there’s only about a 50% chance of an ETF approval. Not sure what time like they’re putting with those odds, but at this point I’d say the odds are closer to 100% with the banks filing for these funds and it will be bullish. I also believe approvals have been delayed until this point to try and match the demand with the supply from distribution of the mtgox coins.

Agreed. These cryptonews outlets might also have given less of a 50% chance for Brad Garlichouse and Ripple to win the lawsuit that the SEC filed against the company hehehe. When the ETF is approved, I reckon this is where disbelief is suddenly replaced by hope and optimism.

1092  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: First Criminal Case Involving Attack on a Smart Contract Operated by DeX on: July 21, 2023, 01:55:47 AM
Presently the smart contracts that were hacked have vulnerabilities because of lack audit, the lack of skill by the auditor and also lack of skill by the developers.
It would be better to just call them "dumb contracts".

Quote
However, there might be a fix. I reckon users can be given the ability to audit the code by themselves through AI.
So there's an unknown problem and a future black box might be a solution? That makes no sense. Let's face it: smart contracts were nothing more than a hype used to earn money from gullible people. I've seen that countless times in crypto, and it will keep happening hype after hype.

You can call them anything but they really are not contracts. They are computer code programmed to do whatever they are instructed to do.

In any case, I disagree that smart contracts are only hype. Many of these projects might presently be existing only because of hype, however, I reckon Nick Szabo had a different vision when he invented the term. We might witness a good development team create something we can consider a good smart contract platform in the future.

Also, on AI, I am not quite certain. I was shocked to see that it can generate code. I am only speculating that it can be used to audit code.
1093  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase vs SEC on: July 21, 2023, 01:41:40 AM
Coinbase decided to ignore the SEC warning and continue offering staking services to US customers stating that "staking is handled by decentralized protocols".
No one has actually commented strongly on this statement. Is SEC actually correct or is Coinbase correct. Or are both correct in their jurisdiction. To be more clear, who knows how Binance operates in US? Does SEC monitor or regulates the activities of binance in US? Activities such as;
Listing process;
Staking activities;?

After Ripple won their case against the SEC, it appears there are presently some new questions on how can uncle Gary go after Coinbase and declare it as an illegal secutities exchange when the SEC approved the exchange to have an IPO in the Nasdaq. If it was approved to become a public company offering shares in a traditional exchange, then it should imply that the SEC considers it a legal business.

The SEC might lose another case hehehehe.
1094  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Former Celsius CEO Alex Mashinsky reportedly arrested on: July 21, 2023, 12:40:52 AM
@mv1986. Hehe it is not where they draw the line. I speculate that Sam has become an informant for the government. There was this article on the Verge that had a clickbait title that asked who was snitching on the big crypto group chat? I reckon it might be the 2 Sams of Alameda Research. Sam Trabucco and later after the arrest, Sam Bankman-Fried.

We know the ending of this story already. The snitches make a deal with the government and walk out of jail, the people who were snitched on go on trial.

Who’s snitching on the big crypto group chat? / And why?

I have been somewhat unsure of what to make about The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times’ reports about text messages, sent on Signal, between rivals Changpeng “CZ” Zhao and Sam Bankman-Fried around the time FTX went up in smoke. That’s because I am not entirely sure who leaked them or who stands to benefit. But I’m pretty sure someone leaked to both of those outlets because the reports went up within hours of each other. So someone wants everyone to know about this!

1095  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: First Criminal Case Involving Attack on a Smart Contract Operated by DeX on: July 20, 2023, 02:11:50 AM
AHMED carried out an attack on the Crypto Exchange by exploiting a vulnerability in one of the Crypto Exchange’s smart contracts and inserting fake pricing data to fraudulently cause that smart contract to generate approximately $9 million dollars’ worth of inflated fees
This has been the problem with "smart" contracts ever since Ethereum's DAO "hack": the contract isn't as smart as they want you to believe, and the users don't even understand how it works.

Quote
AHMED was a senior security engineer for an international technology company whose resume reflected skills in, among other things, reverse engineering smart contracts and blockchain audits, which are some of the specialized skills AHMED used to execute the attack.
With normal contracts, you have to be a lawyer to fully understand what's in there. With smart contracts, you need to be a security engineer to understand it.
That's ironic: the sole purpose of a smart contract was be to make it trustless. If it's trustless, fraud wouldn't be possible.

As a user, I stay away from "smart" contracts. Don't send your money into something you don't fully understand!

In reality smart contracts is nothing similar to legal contracts. It was only a storyline created by the developers and cryptonews media irresponsibly spread the wrong idea among the naive people in the cryptospace which much of us were on 2015.

Presently the smart contracts that were hacked have vulnerabilities because of lack audit, the lack of skill by the auditor and also lack of skill by the developers. However, there might be a fix. I reckon users can be given the ability to audit the code by themselves through AI. If AI can generate code, it can be made to audit code. The next step might also be to audit these audtitors and investigate who might be scammers hehehe.

Saw the one from the CBS morning show yesterday where one the interviewers sounded as if he was defending bitcoin in an attempt to debunk what he was stating during this live show.

I would speculate that it is the Blackrock effect. There are presently powerful people from traditional finance who want to debunk the FUD because they have their ETF applications on uncle Gary's desk hehehe. Forbes is one of the news outlets that had a very noticeable change of stance on bitcoin. I reckon there will be more coming for the rest of this year.
1097  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: It's on! 2024 US Presidential Election Biden+Harris Vs Trump Bitcoin betting.... on: July 19, 2023, 02:48:16 AM
Robert F. Kennedy Jr has outlined his plan to create a new public debt issuance that will be backed by bitcoin and precious metals. He also said that bitcoin trading will be exempted from capital tax gains under his administration. This will certainly create big headline news hehe.

It also appears that Bukele will also find a friendly American government towards El Salvador if papa Robert wins hehehehe. The both of them are bitcoiners.

“My plan would be to start very, very small, perhaps 1% of issued T-bills would be backed by hard currency, by gold, silver platinum or bitcoin,” Kennedy said, describing his vision for returning to a hard currency standard in the U.S.

In addition, Kennedy announced his administration “will exempt the conversion of bitcoin to the U.S. dollar from capital gains taxes.”

While I can't really blame people for making these kinds of statements because of the FTX debacle, it's always dumb over-generalization.

In the video, I hate how he looks so smug as if his opinions were something new and something so groundbreaking; because if anything, it's the common opinion.

This is only for publicity to create fear, uncertainty and doubt. Similar to what you said, this is not something new. The people behind this do it to push for their real agenda whatever they may be. It would not be very surprising if the agenda involves strict regulations on self hosted wallets, required reports on wallet to CEX transactions and a required income bracket rule where if you earn less than a certain amount per year, you are not allowed to trade in a CEX.

This will certainly make it very difficult for many exchanges like Binance to survive and make it easier for traditional finance to takeover as the leading cryptocoin exchangers of the cryptospace, similar to how they are the leading exchangers of forex.
1100  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Is the Binance the next to bite the dust or FUD? on: July 19, 2023, 12:26:46 AM
@Rikafip. My prediction, CZ will resign or be removed as CEO and Justin Sun will buy Binance and continue to operate as a small exchange similar to Poloniex.
I know that you like to make an "interesting" predictions, but I wonder how often they turn out to be true?

Agreed that it has only a low chance to occur, however, witnessing Justin Sun buy Poloniex and rumored to be behind the group that moved on the takeover of Huobi, I would not be shocked if he also purchased Binance.

Justin Sun is also the issuer behind the stablecoin TUSD which 90% of this is used in Binance as an unofficial replacement for BUSD.
