21  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GMT] GOLD MINING TECH ICO on: January 06, 2017, 02:30:37 AM
This is what, the tenth 'GOLD!' related shitcoin this past 24 hours?

Why do these 'devs' think everyone will jump at the sight of a gold-themed coin, and throw away their money at the drop of a hat?

Quote
The process of gold transportation from the camp to the bank in the capital of the country, will be insured by the state in full

Please give us the necessary government contacts for us to verify this extreme claim...I'm sure the state would be happy to hear about this Smiley

aaaaaaaaaaand its gone  Shocked

I had a very strong feeling that yobit would start behaving 'strangely' when this recent btc pump began...looks like the situation finally took its toll on our dearly beloved.   Anyone know what's going on?

...did they run out of their own bitcoin?
23  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HALLOWEEN COIN] [X11] – NEXT FUTURE CRYPTO CURRENCY on: January 05, 2017, 06:14:01 PM
Update on bootstrap:

I moved the file to the Halloween directory, loaded the program, and (as expected) the file was changed to bootstrap.dat.old - yet I'm still just as far behind as I was before (and still have coins hanging in limbo, made a withdraw few days ago).

Any other clues?

Should I just try re-installing from scratch (save wallet.dat)?
24  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase hack rumor on: January 05, 2017, 05:14:13 PM
The only issues I'm having (and assume others are having as well) is with the mobile app not connecting.

Their website works fine, and I've made multiple successful transactions from the site immediately after attempting to use the app.
25  Economy / Speculation / Re: I feel really bad for those selling into this rally.... on: January 05, 2017, 04:51:45 PM
When investing in tech that could bring the world into a new age for fail completely looking for 15% gains.. just.. why are you here lol.
If played correctly this will only result in the accumulation of BTC w/ no additional capital inflows. There's nothing wrong with it.

My bet is the current mindset is something along the lines of,  'might as well do some gambling now while Bitcoin is still pegged to fiat'
26  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HALLOWEEN COIN] [X11] – NEXT FUTURE CRYPTO CURRENCY on: January 05, 2017, 09:45:13 AM
Maybe he's having the same issue I'm experiencing - tried sending HALLO to nova, used their nodes on top of what I already had.  I'm NOW syncing - but something like 56,000+ blocks to go, and at this rate it'll take weeks to push my transaction out.

Anyone have teh ability to bootstrap their blk001.dat for me?  It'd be greatly appreciated!!!!

That's possible thanks, at any rate, thanks for reminding me to post the file.

This is the latest bootstrap.dat file as of 01/03/2017 - block 321575.

Just put it into your Halloween directory and start up your wallet.

I will update the file every week.

Thank you SO much! Just saved me days of syncing Smiley cheers!

Gold reserve

A gold reserve is the gold held by a national central bank, intended as a store of value and as a guarantee to redeem promises to pay depositors, note holders (e.g. paper money), or trading peers, or to secure a currency.

It has been estimated that all the gold mined by the end of 2011 totaled 171,300 tonnes. At a price of US$1,500 per troy ounce, reached on 12 April 2013, one tonne of gold has a value of approximately US$48.2 million. The total value of all gold ever mined would exceed US$8.2 trillion at that valuation.

However, there are varying estimates of the total amount of gold mined to date, mainly because gold has been mined for thousands of years around the world. Another reason is that some countries are not particularly open about how much gold they are mining. In addition, it is difficult to account for gold output in illegal mining activities.

24Kt coin
“changing the policy of digital currencies!”

That's nice and all, but posting random information about gold is in no way proof that your altcoin is legitimate.  There have been countless alts using 'gold' as a buzzword, claiming to be tied to, exchangeable with, etc....and not one stuck with their promise.  Unless this is a coin backed by daily gold-related trivia and history snippets, you're gonna have to try a bit harder Smiley

29  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Chasing The Eye - Extreme Storm Chasing on: January 05, 2017, 08:37:57 AM
Hello Everyone,

I am an extreme storm chaser in Western Pennsylvania, USA. I currently sell video to The Weather Channel, CNN, ABC, CBS, and NBC News, along with Telemundo outside of the USA.

Recently, we just signed a contract with Roku Streaming Services (Yes, that little box everyone connects to their TV to stream for free) and we will now have our own TV show!

The name of our TV show is "Chasing The Eye" and I am a heavy-bitcoin user. I would like to make this preposition.... I want to create a "GoFundMe" with Bitcoin, but to raise awareness of Bitcoin.
Here is a picture of the chase car and sticker placement (Both sides are the same) -

I want to make a deal with the Bitcoin community with this....

If I get the following amounts donated, I will do the following:

Total Donations:
1BTC - I will put a Bitcoin sticker on EACH side of the car - Driver/Passenger
2BTC - I will add the Bitcoin logo to all of our social media outlet sites and put the logo on the TV show
3BTC - I will personally talk about Bitcoin in one of the episodes and how much it has helped fund the show!

First off - can you provide proof that you've actually sold any of your footage? Or is it something along the lines of being contacted by those networks after a video of yours went viral on facebook?  I ask because your YouTube channel was literally created today...

Secondly, why ask for $1000 so you could put a bitcoin sticker on your car.  If you want to create awareness of bitcoin, go buy a few stickers for $5 and slap 'em on yourself!  $3000 so you can talk about btc (in one episode) and how it has funded the show...funded how?  You say you're already hunting storms and selling videos, so why do you need the bitcoin now?

This isn't a 'deal' of any sort...

...you have my respect as a fellow Pennsylvanian, but you're asking a bit much with no proposed business plan or incentive.

But goddamn these are some crazy storms bro I can't believe you're still alive  Wink

The website you're shilling out doesn't even relate to bitcoin, what's going on man are you ok?
31  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you Still believe in Fiat? on: January 05, 2017, 08:11:30 AM
i still believe fiat, I meet the daily needs such as electricity, water, food, clothing. using what if I don't believe in fiat? bitcoin? in my country bitcoin still not accepted as means of payment
But using fiat is inflict financial loss. For the begining fiat is just representation of gold becouse bring gold everywhere is not practicaly. So the amount of fiat equal to amount of gold. But gorverntment printing fiat regardless the amount of the amount of gold. Inflation makes fiat value decrease. So as smart people we should not believe to fiat.
at the beginning fiat is not a representation of gold but it was made to replace the current method in the medieval age and it's often called barter, and now gold have nothing to do with the amount of paper money printed

Dude...what?  I just got back from the hospital as I had an aneurysm reading your post.

"at the beginning fiat is not a representation of gold but it was made to replace the current method in the medieval age"

https://i.imgur.com/h0LjtCP.gif

Trying to decipher that here, let me know if i'm following you:

1. fiat begins
2. made to replace current method
3. current method is actually medieval method
4. gold not linked to fiat

ok....so what's your point, considering none of those four points relate to each other (or 'believing in fiat')

Also, your reply to agamasrori is almost exactly what he wrote - not to mention the writing style/structure being nearly identical.  Are you guys from the same geographic location?  Honest question, when I read similar writing styles I often wonder if this is a specific 'dialect' of butchering English, or if everyone's just trying to type as fast as freaking possible.

I know I sound like a dick but please don't take offense.  I blame Dragon Naturally Speaking™
32  Economy / Speculation / Re: If we didnt had idiots blocking segwit we would be sittting on 4 figures by now on: January 05, 2017, 07:55:04 AM
Why don't we change the max coins to 7,000,000,000 so EVERYONE can have a Bitcoin?

That is how I feel about SegWit, block size increases, etc.

I am so sick of all the FEAR, people thinking Bitcoin won't scale or whatever. Just Leave it Alone already. If Bitcoin is flawed as is, then let it fail. If you think Bitcoin can be better with changes, then make your own Alt-coin.

It is working JUST FINE and has been for 8 YEARS.

More people = Slower confirmation times = HIGHER fees. This is GOOD for the Free Market and rewards Miners.

People will pay higher fees to get confirmed faster. Some people will be fine waiting 24 hours for a confirmation.

Just relax folks. You don't need instant dust transactions. There can be microwallets and altcoins for that.

Agreed - this is why altcoins can be useful, and shouldn't all be generalized as shit[coins].

While I want bitcoin to succeed, I'd love to see how big miners react if btc was suddenly destroyed  Shocked What would they even do? Imagine the rage...mass suicides...what would come of the mining farms?
33  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Dark marketplaces? on: January 05, 2017, 05:38:09 AM
Why not something like openbazaar? Instead of using the term 'dark' (which causes a negative view) why not use the term 'open'?

1. Why are there random faces in the specifications image?  Cheesy
2. What are the rewards you guys get for us completing your tasks?
3. Are these 'tasks' just mturk type jobs which you cannot accept for whatever reason?
4. We know you won't be building a >1 btc/day mining farm simply from the profits of this coin, unless the tasks we're completing for you are actually that rewarding (for you)
