1063  Other / Off-topic / suggestion for webcam girls & guys sites on: July 25, 2012, 02:53:02 PM
edit:
Bitcoin is very well suited to live performance porn... streaming shows performed to a live audience, and not recorded. It's a premium service, and one I think people will pay for.

my suggestion for all cam sites right now:

Have a pot for the client and tip slider.
The tip slider determines how many satoshi's per second to tip the dancer from the pot.
Like the show ?, ramp it up to 100 - about to blow set it to over 9000!!! satoshi etc etc.

its good feedback for the dancer and I think most users would appreciate the near-instant feedback from tips Wink
1064  Economy / Speculation / Re: Silk Road growing and getting re-designed for the increase of new users. on: July 25, 2012, 02:46:05 PM
Translation: "I believe that bitcoin needs more drug users to buy into bitcoin in order for the market price to go up. Let's promote illegal activity in bitcoin guys!"

I stand by my tripod statement.

Bitcoin needs 3 legs to stand on, Drugs, Sex and Gambling.

SR covers the 1st nicely but I wish it was not the only one that did so (all your eggs in one basket etc).
Sex is getting there, seeing more and more cam girls etc. I really hope this takes off - my current speel: Tired of your partner seeing (foot/gay/bi/ladyboy/scat)-fetish on your CC bill - USE BITCOINS !!!.
Gambling - while still small Id call what we currently have a success for the community size we have.

VHS won over BETA mainly because of porn, bitcoin will win its place as a currency because of Drugs, Sex and Gambling.
this

the pay 4  porn industry is being killed now because there is so much free porn ,i wouldnt rely on people paying for porn to sustain ANY business or currency  as long as

google and bittorrent can find you all the porn in the world .......
true, but you would be surprised at how many people still do it. Granted that most people that use bitcoin are savvy enough to not pay for porn. Still, Gambling with bitcoins has a lot of room to grow.

in the late 1990's Porn stars were making more money than they could spend ,literally women were getting several thousand  dollars and the men upwards of 500 for a day

I saw a program about it  which said the industry is basically dead in the water now for a lot of reasons but mainly because anything new  is "shared" rapidly and this generation have more or less figured out how to download and stream everything and nobody has fiqured out a way to stop new content being shared for free
so i wouldnt like to invest in the online  porn industry expecting it to get better

future generations will be more internet savvy and competent  than us so i also think gambling is a safer bet than porn going forward

I think catering to fetishes and also web cam girls&guys are the way forward for the porn industry.
This could mean less big players and many more individuals representing themselves.

Hollywood cries the same losses as the porn industry and they seem to be doing fine.

There is the obvious issue though that the current bitcoin demographic is extremely tech savy and therefore are quite adept at finding what they want.

agreed, and to completely stay off topic for the moment.

As myrkul said, its ideal for live shows Wink

We will go lower.

1068  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you guys think this will affect the price? on: July 25, 2012, 05:16:57 AM
I believe that this "car" is nothing more than a scam.  It simply doesn't exist, never will at the hands of these guys, and is nothing more than hot air to attract investments and pre-orders.

A guy named Paul Moller (moller.com) has been doing this very same thing for decades, promising a flying car that is, at any given time, always just around the corner.  His stats and his numbers and his technobabble and his mockups sound very convincing to the average investor, but to the eyes of a pilot or someone who has actually been in aerospace design, it's an obvious scam that will never fly.  To trained eyes, the people writing for him have NO CLUE about the state of the art of the aviation technology of today, let alone tomorrow.  It's like the specifications are written by marketers, not engineers.

He has been doing this for around FORTY YEARS!!!  Compare Today: http://www.moller.com - October 1974: http://www.downside.com/scams/moller/

This car is nothing different.

Anybody with the skills, talent, resources, and ideas to really develop the next-generation 100+ mpg car will have no problem getting so much investor funding they will literally be DROWNING in it.  They do not need to accept bitcoins or pre-orders.

They are likely accepting Bitcoins, because as the Bitcoinica debacle has shown, when you relieve people of their bitcoins in exchange for empty promises, right in front of their face and in broad daylight, you can get away with it, because the general populace barely understands what went wrong.  The same way the banksters of the world fleece us left and right and not a single one goes to jail.

we are offering a 3% discount in all our prices when payed in Bitcoin.

Paid is P-A-I-D.  You'd think the rocket scientists would get this one right.

Yes, this is fucking huge.  A huge S-C-A-M.

Hey their claims about their car have all the substance of BFL's claims about their ASIC's Wink

Buy now, they are just around the corner !!!
1069  Economy / Gambling / Re: Does satoshidice.com own satoshidice.net? Or have I just been scammed? on: July 25, 2012, 05:08:53 AM

This site does not pay out at all.
It just hopes to collect deposits from gamers who put in the wrong url.
Admin Unresponsive.

I guess satoshidice.com should be flattered really, its a sign of success when your customer base is a big enough target for phishing scammers.
1071  Economy / Gambling / Re: mem's BITCOIN GAMBLING LIST on: July 25, 2012, 05:02:52 AM
bitZino has added Video Poker, with the claim of being provably fair as well.

BitZino's first game, launched last month, was Blackjack.

Because it does the cryptography in Javascript, I wasn't sure how well it would perform well on a mobile.  I've played both of these from the browser on my Android and it performs just fine.

Updated, thanks again Stephen.

My friend is quite the fan of bitzino on his android tablet and smart phone - I really like the simple design myself Smiley

I would add that what will make or break Litecoin will be how many new exchanges start supporting trade with them. I think if there were more places to exchange them, there would be more merchants taking them.
+1

How difficult would it be for the likes of MtGox or Intersango to add LTC support?

A difficulty of between 10-50 thousands dollars or so.

FUND IT!

Being that you are speaking on it in that matter YOU should fund it!

I'll be sure to lose a bunch of money recklessly trading if MtGox did open up LTC.  It makes you wonder if anyone is ever going to have enough faith in Bitcoin to have enough faith leftover for an alt-currency.

A friend of mine recently bought 2000+litecoins to sit on them. He does not mine at all, so there is some faith.
1073  Economy / Speculation / Re: For Those Wondering Why The Current Rally on: July 20, 2012, 10:40:36 AM
This isn't a good comparison because BitCoin isn't a single business, it is a monetary platform that can be used by all businesses. If the United States government had to run on the market cap of Skype, it would grind to a halt. The order that these things operate in are the Trillions, not billions.

I don't think that $15,000 per bitcoin will happen within the year (barring the outside chance of some hyperinflationary event), but it is easily attainable in the long term.

Well, I see your point as currency markets are like the ocean and not the fish. But what percentage of cash balances do you think world population will keep in BTC? Why? What is your 'long term' horizon?

If Bitcoin had 663m users like Skype and if each user kept $700 in cash balances and it were 2016 with 15m bitcoins then that would result in $31,000 per bitcoin. And that does not factor in the bitcoins in circulation that have been destroyed (private keys lost, sent to unrecoverable addresses, etc.).

I liked your idea so much I made a spreadsheet for it Smiley

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AknBnFOyxhcRdDBuczBWZTBaekY0N0d0cjR6X29kbEE

I guessed each user would keep maybe $100 in their wallet (very conservative).
1074  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash!!!! on: July 20, 2012, 10:16:56 AM
1. Dump 40k btc in market
2. People panic dropping the price further.
3. Buy back 50k btc for the same amount of USD you got for selling those 40k btc.
4.  Huh
5. Repeat.
6. Profit.

Seems to be working for whoever is doing it and I say good.
I hope she/he knocks all bots and panic buyers/sellers out of the market for awhile so we can resume a nice steady (and slow) climb.

I can see whats going to happen though, if they keep up these regular shenanigans a bigger shark is going to come along and catch them mid game with their pants down.

My advice, enjoy this show from the sidelines and let the sharks fight it out.

2.Litecoin players can now enter.
3.More types of games.
4.Minimum bet (for cheapest game) is still 0.05BTC or 10 LTC
5.Lottery is now 0.1BTC-Round 2.
6.You can now gamble for good causes and still win money for yourself. This makes you both a winner, the good cause of your choice and you.1/3 of winnings go to good causes and 2/3 go to you.Winner gets to decide where 1/3 goes to.

More to come. Smiley

1077  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Theory on what pirateat40 is doing on: July 17, 2012, 11:34:50 AM
I don't think that it comes as a surprise to almost anyone if pirate's operation turns out to be a ponzi. Each and every person investing in his operations should keep in mind that the money might vanish any day. Any investor who is not completely fine with losing everything deserves to lose every penny.

Investing with pirate is like investing with bitcoinica, except pirate has a higher interest rate.
Likely hood of getting your money back is about the same Tongue

Min and max cash out are 1 satoshi.
