1801  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [6000 GH/s] BitMinter.com [ASIC support: var diff, Stratum, GBT, rollntime] on: May 02, 2013, 05:17:22 AM
I would like some numbers about the pool's luck (in the last day/week/long term/current block), or a line of the actual luck compared with the expected instead of all those dots.

A line of actual luck won't tell you anything unless you can compare it to something - for example a confidence interval of likely "luck" values. For the dots, if they look widely distributed and not bunched up the top or the bottom, then that's normal "luck".

The only accurate way to measure "luck" over a period of time to to work out the negative binomial CDF for the combined shares submitted for the combined blocks solved. Using that measure, BitMinter's weekly "luck" over the last months hasn't been outside the expected range.
How about an indicator on the side of the chart that would show the average of the dots? Or an average line?

A'right, let's kick this off:

I like what I see from the Klondike project so far and will probably go that route.

I stuck a FET on board for PWM fan control using the PIC's temp sensor.
Very nice!
1804  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [1000 GH/s] Bitparking Pool, PPS 2.5%,vardiff,stratum,Merge Mining BTC,NMC+more on: May 01, 2013, 01:28:51 PM
Sorry, I have not read the whole thread. Does this pool share the tx fees with the miners?
No, it does not share the tx fees. The process of doing this is tricky for PPS pools that pay out before the block is found.
I'm sorry to hear about the attack and well done on preventing it!

Re: the above: Are you willing to reconsider, since you now have DGM enabled?
1805  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [8500 GH/s] Slush's Pool (mining.bitcoin.cz); TX FEES + UserDiff; ASIC tested on: May 01, 2013, 01:14:04 PM
As far as I know none of the pools have stratum support for NMC... And stratum gives you much less rejected shares so you get more without NMC... So this should be better then mining at getwork and getting NMC.
Both Bitminter and Bitparking pools offer NMC on stratum.

Well if this is really the case then I don't get it why Slush didn't reimplement it... I know he believes it is dead but as long as someone is ready to pay for them I do not agree... And there are more coins that could be mined together... As far as I know the number is 8 but I can't remember names. There are p2p pools that are mining them... If we get just 10% extra that would be great...
I don't get it either, but it has been mentioned in this thread several times now and even if it wasn't I'm sure slush is well aware of it. If he doesn't want / have the time to implement it, there's not much we can do. It's his pool after all.

A list of merged mineable coins is here: http://dustcoin.com/mining  Bitparking pool has them all.

it would probably help if blockchain's iphone and android app didnt store the main password in plaintext.
There's an update available for Android that fixes this. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=40264.msg1966450#msg1966450
1810  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Bitminter vs. Eligius? on: April 29, 2013, 04:06:12 PM
Anybody have experience with these two pools? Where would you earn more? Are the transaction fees worth it? Do you get luckier on Eligius?

Thanks
BitMinter still supports full NMC merged mining on stratum. Eligius has dropped it entirely.

Re: orphaned blocks: Depends how many blocks are orphaned ;-)

I have settled on BitMinter for now too.
1811  Other / Archival / Re: Mining pools list on: April 29, 2013, 04:01:33 PM
BitMinter pays orphans, if donation/perk is set to 1.5%. Same for NMC.

Prepay BTC   Immediate pay for bitcoin blocks. No waiting for 120 confirmations. No lost coins if the block is later orphaned. Note: does not apply to stale blocks.

I'm sure we'll get to better BTC usability in general eventually, just not "tomorrow".

and can it be used to mine other SHA256 coins with just a change of mining software ?
If you point it at a pool like Bitminter (NMC) or Bitparking (NMC and some others) (both pools on stratum), yes.

LTC, no.

I think he means like TRC and bytecoin. And I think the answer is yes.
Well spotted. Quite a few of those around: http://www.coinchoose.com/

I'll have a more detailed update next week for Teraminers, just wanted to leave a little something here.

It's a 5Gh/s beast at 30w humming away on my desk as I type this.

I'm glad to start seeing BFL deliver equipment and am looking forward to moar!
Good news! Can Teraminers expect a div for today then?
1817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Bitcoin-Qt 0.8.0-beta wallet-corrupt, failed salvage OS X on: April 29, 2013, 09:47:05 AM
Not sure if this will help you but:

  • Deleted everything except 'wallet.dat', and reopened Bitcoin-Qt (Also tried this after downloading 0.8.1), not the same result, instead of a crash I get: 'wallet corrupt, salvage failed' message when launching, the wallet.dat file is replaced with a 'walletxxx.backup'
I had exactly the same on Linux when I did a fresh install. Fixed it by: Deleting wallet.dat, run bitcoin-qt (in my case: 0.8.1-beta), it will create a new wallet.dat, shut down bitcoin-qt (it takes a while, so wait), overwrite newly created wallet.dat with the one from the backup, restart bitcoin-qt -> worked for me

1819  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: blockchain.info android app device pairing quirk on: April 29, 2013, 09:36:13 AM
Blockchain.info app was updated last night or yesterday. After you update, you are prompted to select a 4 digit pin. It's not obvious yet what the pin does though, as I've yet to be prompted again to enter it, even after leaving the app.

Apparently this update also resolves pairing issues, I don't know if that includes the issue I had.
