Is anyone else as surprised as me that the second batch of Neptunes hasn't sold out yet? People must be low on funds while waiting for their preorders from other companies.
Not at all. Someone who bought Jupiters early will have a lot of BTC stuck in hardware that hasn't paid them back yet by some way. Loads of people aren't close to break even in BTC terms. Selling a Jup for 28 BTC may seem wicked now to a person who paid for it in flat but to a BTC buyer it's a loss even if you chuck in BTC mined to date. Less payment options, crucially Paypal. What the chinese bank did to ban BTC in some areas ..that's got to hurt demand over there to some extent. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-12-05/china-s-pboc-bans-financial-companies-from-bitcoin-transactions.htmlLack of details ..asking people to chuck 10k at a rig with so little info, especially about power consumption which may be a factor for some. 3TH seems a lot now and I think they will be more like 4 or 5 even..but it may not be so hot in the 2/3/4/5/6 months they get delivered...there's another reason, time is critical yet seemingly not so much for KNC customers to get a realistic estimate. Reason for that being that we may hold them to it, and they'd get tired again due to their piss poor management of staff and resources which leads to weeks of insomnia. Laughable. Manufacturers use a schedule. Not dice. Not even touched the reasons I won't, poor communications and respect for customers, lying flat out, and quit while I got lucky thanks to an unexpected spot of good fortune without which I'd be losing big time ..which was nothing to do with KNC. If BTC were 100 dollars now we'd all be in a darker place. Loads of reasons why, despite being better than other suppliers so far, people may not jump into a long uncertain game with KNC again. Timmers has quite a few good points here, but i'd like to point out the the very first people that got Jupiters (myself being one of them) have in fact made back the BTC back (those of you that paid VAT probably don't have the same story). If I sold my unit now for around 15 BTC, i will have far surpassed BTC break even. Id be amazed of 3TH didnt make back the 9 BTC i paid for it.

From http://p2pool.info/ : Pool Luck (7 days, 30 days, 90 days): 174.9%137.5%123.1% I have made 1 BTC +/- 0.1 BTC with a single Jupiter every day during this past week P2Pool rocks. This is what I call Luck!

We've got a 106xx order and we still don't have a tracking code. Does anyone know the latest order number to have shipped today?
Well someone with 101xx got their shipping details last night, so hopefully we are at 102xx or 103xx tonight. 103XX. Have tracking number but it is NOT moving. just says the label was made, not picked up yet. WTF? 102XX and nothing. I guess they are just shipping them out at random? 101xx and still only status "paid" (Payment date 11/06). Got the same standard answer from support like posted here before, to contact them again on friday.

I understand that the first batch of Jupiters had to make over 70 coins to break even in BTC and that was going to be tough... but how can you look at a Neptune and say that it will produce less than 10 coins. My two jupiters today still create 1 coin a day (combined). The risk is very different than it was with purchasing Jupiters when BTC was at $100.
unless you've got 2 November Jupiters pushing 700GH/s each I find it had to believe you can mine 1 BTC a day. please explain how you're doing this if it's true. or is it a mistake and you're calculations are incorrect. I have less than 200gh pointed to slush right now, and I'm making .25btc/day. I have no doubt he's making 1btc/day. I've just checked slush pool luck: so for the last week we had 103%, so you should have slightly more btc than whatsoever profit calculator will tell you, 3% more on avg to precise. So in the last week a 200GH/s machine should have minted 0.1422 * 1.03 = 0.1464 BTC a day. My merc made 1.008 over that period. 142GH =/- a couple of GH constant. That's actual, not calculated. On Slush. on a 7 days period? good for you. 142 GH/s eq 0.1010/day avg. so 0.1010 * 7 * 1.03 = 0.7282 so maybe slush pool luck calculation is not as accurate as one might think. ps: I've just noticed that slush is currently experiencing a very bad round 13.5hs without a solving block.... As long as we are comparing pool luck , I switched to P2Pool about a week ago, and the luck has been awesome: From http://p2pool.info/ : Pool Luck (7 days, 30 days, 90 days): 174.9%137.5%123.1% I have made 1 BTC +/- 0.1 BTC with a single Jupiter every day during this past week P2Pool rocks. Does p2pool hinder your Gh/s mine went down to 480Gh/s when I connected to Elizium a while ago seems it was affecting others also: http://forum.kncminer.com/forum/kncminer-hosting/kncminer-pool/4246-p2pool-public-node

My hashrate in cgminer goes down, but the rate seen by the pool is pretty close to my actual hashrate, sometimes more, sometimes less, just like any other pool. The bottom line is the payout - and the payout is good If you plan to try P2Pool, I would recommend making your own node - it's not that complicated. I don't know anything about Elizium, but most of the public p2pool nodes charge fees (I'm looking at you, p2pool.org).

Just some thoughts... if you had a Neptune, are there UPS backups powerful enough to keep it up in running in the event of a blackout?

Not if you are currently mining on a pool with no fees, and that pays transaction fees to miners. The current luck of p2pool can't continue forever. Over the long haul, the payout of any pool that does not charge fees and pays transactions to miners should be the same. Personally, I still like p2pool the best. I like getting an instant payout of every block mined. It has the same feel as solo mining, which I find appealing. [EDIT: I should add that using p2pool is the ONLY truly effective way to fight pool centralization, if such things concern you.]

The status still only shows paid but I got UPS notification, weirdly the UPS notification didn't come until today but it is scheduled for delivery tomorrow. Not complaining but it seems like the order status and UP notification might be lagging the actual shipping in some cases. On edit: just checked again and status is now "in progress".

Got the rest of my tracking numbers. Just like last time, I got my tracking days before the status changed on the knc site. Where are all the people who were complaining that KNC screws everyone and doesn't ship? Off waiting for hashfast and cointerra to post some pictures of a random piece of incomplete hardware?
I think I'll set up p2pool on my server and see how well it works. They do seem to be "lucky" but isn't that because they are working at a much higher difficulty? As long as the pool operator stays honest, it does look like a good way to keep mining personal.

If you set up your own p2pool node, YOU are the pool operator. P2pool mines on the same bitcoin network as everyone else, and the difficulty on that network is 707M at this writing. You may be thinking about the share difficulty within P2Pool itself, but that is a completely different thing, and doesn't affect how many blocks the pool mines - it only affects how much individual miners get paid per block.

I meant the person who creates the pool software. I get how the node works. Also, the block difficulty is the same for all the pools but wouldn't strong machines working on "harder" solutions to the block end up solving them more often?
"Q: Why does my miner say it has found a lot of shares but p2pool say I have only found a few?! A: The real P2Pool difficulty is hundreds of times higher than on normal pools, but p2pool essentially lies to your miner and tells it to work on relatively easy shares so that it submits shares every few seconds instead of every few hours. P2Pool then ignores any submitted shares that don't match the real share difficulty. By doing this, P2Pool can more accurately report your local hash rate and you can see if you are having problems with too many stale shares quickly"
Wouldn't that increased difficulty increase the luck of the pool?

They have power backups in all sizes. Backups don't make any sense for any miners though. Other then putting one on your router, it's not cost effective at all.
